Steve's is a great find if you are looking for a straightforward, honest, mechanic. I have no problem sending my wife, mother and sister here, and that's saying a lot. Steve and his crew will take care of you at a decent price and without any drama. My wife had a problem with her check engine light that 3 mechanics couldn't figure out. Steve's took care of the problem once and for all and for a great price. I recently "cheated" on Steve's by going to another mechanic (They are closed Sundays and Mondays), and had a less than stellar experience. Never again! Update Took my car in for excessive vibration exam. This problem had gotten progressively worse over the last 5-6 years. I did a bit of research online (dangerous, I know), so I suspected the motor mounts needed replacement. Johnny wrote up the ticket and I also wanted the oil changed. Lo and behold, worn out motor mounts was the diagnosis. I am so happy that my car runs so smoothly now! The total was about $500 - 1/3 what the dealer would have charged. Steve's is the best. I'm saving up now to have my drivers side window repaired. The doohickey in the door broke and Johnny said they can fix that too! The dealer wants $150, just to tell me what's wrong! No thanks! I have been coming here for over 10 years now. This was my go to mechanic who was honest and had fair prices. I would call Art and tell him my problem and he would say bring it in and we'll take a look and give you a call with the damage. If I didn't want to go with the work it would always be a free inspection like it says on the front window. How things have changed since Tony took over. I dropped my car off and told Tony my issue and he said he would give me a call. He called me and said it would be $189 to do the work. I agreed to that price. Once I go pick it up and ready to pay he says $320. I said you told me $189 why is it $320. He said we charge $125 to diagnose the problem. He said it says it hanging right in the office! I said I have been coming here for years and never had to pay to figure out the problem. He said we changed that 2 years ago. So much for my to go to honest mechanic. Tony is a scam artist! This place used to have cars lined up waiting to get in. When I went today I was the only car there. Didn't think much of it till Tony rip me off. Stay away peeps! read more

I brought my car in for a free diagnosis and car estimate and asked for them to give me estimates on pricing. They didn't call me and I waited two days to call them and they didn't even look at my car yet until I called. Then they went ahead and fixed a couple problems I had without my permission and tried to charge me for the service. I told them that I was upset and improperly charged and didn't want anything fixed, only diagnosed. The mechanic was understanding and didn't charge me. I give a 4 star rating because the mechanic was apologetic, not because I was impressed by the auto shop. read more

Great place. They know what they are doing and they don't rip you off. When I took my car in, they originally thought it was the clutch that was making a noise. That would have been a costly repair. Hey yelpers, here's a important review . I had my clutch done at Steve's express and I supplied all the parts like brand New clutch kit, clutch cover and New fly wheel. dropped the car off in the morning with all the new parts, and said to done late afternoon. Well mid day Art calls me to Say I need a master clutch Cylinder. I had one because I was going to install it my self, but I decided to just dropped it off. He never mentioned that he was going to charge me an extra $100 when I dropped it off. He Let me know When I picked up my ride it was $100. At that point what do I say it was done. I had these parts for over a week before I decided to have it done by Steve's express. So I know what they look like and in detail. HERE'S THE KICKER.... the NEW CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER HOUSING WAS MADE OUT OF ""PLASTIC""! I happened to notice that the clutch pedal was making a clicking sound every time I pressed the pedal. So I looked under the dash and I saw that the old master clutch cylinder was still there and the reason I really noticed it more was the old housing of the clutch cylinder is made out of "METAL !" and the pedal rod is all metal as well the new one has plastic. So steve's express never put the new clutch cylinder I supplied them and charged me to install it. I emailed the maker of the of the New clutch cylinder and they said that the clutch cylinder I ordered was made from a Heat treated plastic. Thats proof enough for me, I have the email and the old master cylinder that I had to replace because the noise it was making was coming from the old master cylinder going bad. The one they charged me $100 extra for. The only reason I had steve's express do my clutch is that I live in a condo and theres No auto repair work allowed on the premises . I'm not new to auto repair I do most of it myself on the side or the street normally taking couple hours. clutch would have taken all day or more with hand tools. FYI ...To steves Place if you think I am making this up.. please contact me and I will supply all the proof from emails to old parts I still have along with sale invoices. And I also have another part that I can't get to. I think was reused, that I can't get too because its in the bell housing. At this point advise from Small Claims Civil lawyer might be in the future. I made a yelp account just to review Steve's Express. This was my second visit to Steve's, the first visit I needed a new master cylinder hose, I ended having them do my entire rear brakes. The service was fast, efficient, and more than reasonable in pricing. My second visit, I thought I needed new front brakes and possibly rotors. Steve's express not only gave me the best quote for labor and parts, they diagnosed me and the problem ended up being a loose/missing screw. They replaced the screw and had my car ready in no time. Did I mention I wasn't even charged for the second job. Definitely recommend Steve's as it is hard to find a good and fair mechanic. I needed a fuel pump on my car I walked in and asked the guy behind the desk how much would a fuel pump cost to replace and install he gave me an estimate and when I heard the estimate I thought to myself that's kind of high. So I told the guy behind the desk I would be back. So I went to another shop down the street for the same job they quoted me almost $200 less then this place I'm sure they do a good job, like oil changes brake jobs rotate tires smog check. but compare and check prices around the neighborhood. Takes only 15 20 minutes to drive around the neighborhood and get an estimate it might save you a couple hundred dollars. Estimates are free... Got the job done at the cheaper place . And saved almost $200 bills. People drive around town to save $0.10 on a gallon of gas so why would you not drive around to get an estimate that might save you couple hundred dollars. read more

I am a big car guy, I know every aspect of the engine especially my car. Well recently the steering wheel was making a grinding noise and for the hell of it I couldn't figure it out. I took took it to my normal mechanic of 9 years plus and he told me it was the ball joint. I told him the car just needed to be lubed 'cause of the hot summer. But he insisted it was the ball joint. Alright so I gave in and threw some cash to fix it. As soon as I got my car back it was still making the grinding noise. What the hell! I was furious, seriously it stresses me having separation anxiety from my car. So one evening I decided to scout out a mechanic near my home and found this shop. Specifically picked these guys due to being open on Saturdays, so that following Saturday I dropped it off. Hours later they call me to tell me that they just didn't have enough time to find the problem. But they did find that the clamps were missing from brakes. (old mechanics fault?) So I agreed and told them to get the parts , the cost was a bit pricey what I normally pay. Still the grinding noise continued, it was driving me nuts so I gave them another chance and dropped it off earlier than norm. Hours later I get a call and they tell me my car is ready. I ask, "wait I never authorized the fix without my consent." The service guy tells me its free of charge, the problem just needed to be lubed. Thats what I originally told my ex mechanic!!! Point being, never doubt myself again and these guys certainly impressed me. It is rare that I ever recommend a place but these guys are certainly reliable. I understand why they are so busy because people in the valley trust these folks with their most prized cars. If you care about your car bring it here; hard working staff, great service and honesty that goes a long way. read more

I had a coolant leak and I took my car here. This was a couple years ago. I had to wait a long time because they needed to order a part and the vendor brought the wrong part so they needed to get another one... But to make up for the delay, Steve gave me a coupon for a free oil change even though I had not complained at all, which I thought was very nice customer service in a situation where the delay was not their fault anyway.
