One of our favorite spots at City Foundry, Steve's Meltdown was a big hit for our grilled cheese loving family! We came by on a Friday night around dinner and they were one of the busiest stalls at the food hall. Service was efficient and the staff taking orders was friendly and patient with our questions as first time visitors. Since there were a lot of customers, there was a bit of a wait, but without a doubt, the food was worth every second. If you're looking for a good eat at the Foundry, Steve's Meltdown won't disappoint. Our order consisted of the Sweet Caroline Grilled Cheese, Buffalo Springfield Grilled Cheese, and a side of Krinkle Fries. As grilled cheese lovers, both of these sandwiches were fantastic. I loved the Sweet Caroline and was drawn to it for the Brie, apple slices, and cranberry jam. Such a unique twist to a grilled cheese, but it all worked perfectly together. My husband had the Buffalo Springfield and could not stop raving about it. We would recommend either of these two sandwiches. The fries complemented the sandwiches well. They were the perfect size to share with someone else. Steve's Meltdown made a strong first impression. It was one of our favorite eats in St. Louis. We would definitely return again the next time we're in town and at the Foundry.

I used to live in STL and always stop by the food hall when I'm in town. This was a new stop for me and I got the Mac n cheese and the fig grilled cheese. The Mac n cheese was just okay, a little watery so it lacked that cheesy flavor. The grilled cheese was good but I wish the fig jam would've come already on the sandwich rather than on the side. I feel there are better options in the food hall.

Great cheese place in the Foundry food court. I had fried cheese curds. They were great and was a big portion. I want to go back and try some of their grilled cheese sandwiches. I saw other customers sandwiches. They were beautiful. The staff was really friendly and helpful.

Went to the City Foundry last night before going to the movies. I always have a hard time deciding what I want and decided to try this place. I ordered the sweet Caroline and fries although the Mac and cheese sounded good too! Sandwich took a few minutes to make but was made fresh and was delicious. The fries were a pretty large portion for the cost, which was nice. It was a Thursday so the city foundry was emptier than usual and pretty quiet. No issues finding a table at all.

Located in the bustling food hall of the foundry, is Steve's meltdown. They have a great selection of comforting soup and various grilled cheese sandwiches. Elevated! On this day, I opted for the Sweet Caroline grilled cheese and tomato basil soup. They were both quite good. Service was polite.

My inner child is happy! Steve's Meltdown allows me to enjoy a grilled cheese adult style. The sandwich is made to order with friendly attendants.

First time trying Steve's Meltdown and I thought it was pretty good. I thought the flavor was good, but was quickly cold having spinach and artichoke dip in the middle. Overall would try their Mac and cheese or something else next time! The grilled cheese took a bit longer for not having anyone else in line. Vibe: Love the Foundry overall, with tons of options to try

Ooooooooh, omg you gotta try this spot.. just trust me! This is definitely a place for my foodies! So basically there's like different types and flavors of grilled cheese sandwiches. We decided to do the war figs, which had white cheese, bacon, and fig jam as well as the That's Amore which is a pizza inspired sandwich. I didn't think I would like war figs but that was probably my favorite because I'm a sucker for sweet and salty combos. They were buttery and perfectly cooked. It's located inside of City Foundry, so you can order your food and find a spot to sit. I can't wait to go back, it was so good! There's plenty of seating and the staff were super friendly and excited to talk to us! Highly recommend!

I ordered the war figs grilled cheese, and it was delicious! I didn't think I was going to like dipping it in the fig jam but it was sooo good, I kept coming back to the jam. The fries were fresh and crispy, and the worker was very nice and greeted me as I walked up. They also have Excel products to drink, which I love strawberry ski so that was also a plus. There are many places to sit in the foundry and it was such a cool experience and was very clean as well.

I love this place, I have been twice and always get the vegan grilled cheese. It is delicious! A little pricey but worth it. I love the food court at the foundry, it has lots of open seating and places to choose from. Something for everyone. I have been twice both times on a weekend and it was not too crowded.

Not sure if I came here on a bad night or what, but I was not impressed with my visit here. I really wanted to love this place, especially because of all the great reviews so far, but I feel like I would've been better off just making some grilled cheeses at home! When I saw that Steve's Meltdown is from the same family of restaurants as Steve's Hot Dogs and The Fountain on Locust, I got really excited. I am an avid Fountain on Locust visitor, and I regularly recommend it to everyone I know. I ALWAYS order their Royal Grille, which is their adult grilled cheese with white cheddar, mozzarella, and Fuji apple slices on whole grain wheat bread. As a result, I had very high hopes for my visit to Steve's Meltdown. I decided to order the Sweet Caroline, as it seemed like an exciting twist to my classic Royal Grille from The Fountain on Locust. It was pretty good, but my boyfriend and I had some issues. He ordered the That's Amore Grilled Cheese, and we both noticed that our sandwiches were cold, and the cheese wasn't quite melted in some spots. If the sandwiches had been cold just in the center, I would've had a bit more understanding. But when the first bite is cold, that's not an ideal grilled cheese experience! My Sweet Caroline was overall warmer than my boyfriend's sandwich, but still not the best. Seemed to be missing the "melt" part of MELTdown! The employees were not unwelcoming or rude by any means, but not notably friendly or personable either. Just a very average experience. We ordered our sandwiches at the order counter and waited less than 10 minutes for our name to be called at the pick-up counter. Pretty quick service, especially with all the crowds at the City Foundry on a Friday night, so no complaints there! Overall, I just find it a bit difficult to justify spending almost $30 on a side of fries and two grilled cheeses that didn't completely wow us. I absolutely love this restaurant's concept idea and that they offer unique and fun flavor options for a classic food item, but maybe I'll wait to revisit after this place isn't so new. I would also consider trying their mac and cheese next time, too.

Why is there cheese oozing from The City Foundry? Welcome to the newest obsession in St. Louis's culinary scene: Steve's Meltdown, nestled within the City Foundry. Brought to you by the masterminds of Steve's Hot Dogs, The Fountain on Locust, and The Fountain on Delmar, two of our favorites, Steve Ewing and Danni Eickenhorst. I liked the ciabatta bun pizza grilled cheese option myself so give that one a try. Make it vegetarian by removing the pepperoni! They always a specialty sandwich on the menu too! Stop in and check them out!

I had to visit Blues City as I heard they have great Po Boys...and they do. I am used to having oysters or shrimp on a Po Boy. Not here. They are basically served with many versions of meat. I had the Benton Park Po Boy and it was incredible. The sandwich has ham, roast beef, turkey, provel, and is dressed with lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, pepperoncini, sweet red pepper sauce on french bread. My wife, being vegetarian had the Panino Fresco. It included mozzarella, provolone, dressed with homemade olive salad, tomato, onion & Italian vinegar oil on an Italian roll. This was the first time in 26 years that she finished the entire sandwich. I had a bite of hers, and it is easy to see why she she finished it. So good. I even bought a memorable t-shirt as I loved Blues City Deli. The female counter person was so friendly. She even wrote down three other restaurants to try while we were visiting St Louis. Since this place is such a staple, we figured we had to give it a try. The place was absolutely packed, which clearly shows it's a local favorite. Even with how busy they were, our pickup order was ready on time -- actually before the scheduled pickup since I arrived about five minutes early. The atmosphere definitely had that classic local sandwich shack vibe and seemed like it would make a great casual lunch spot for almost any occasion. Unfortunately, the food itself just didn't live up to the reputation for us. We ordered the hot salami sandwiches, which they're known for, but they were extremely greasy and the only flavors that really stood out were mustard and grease. We expected a lot more flavor and balance considering it's their specialty item. We also placed a large luncheon order of 10 sandwiches. Everyone was satisfied overall and the food was decent enough, but nothing really stood out or made us excited to come back. We personally prefer Adriana's for both flavor and overall quality. One of the biggest disappointments was that none of the sandwiches had cheese on them, even though we paid an extra $2 per sandwich for the garlic cheese bread upgrade. That was frustrating considering the additional charge. Honestly, I'm guessing we may have just caught them on an off day because it's obvious this spot has a loyal following. We still appreciate supporting local STL businesses and can understand why so many people love it -- it just wasn't quite the experience we were expecting.

The ingredients seemed good but my chicken thigh was cheap, the chicken was burned, the sauce was too salty, and the sandwich was half heartedly put together. The fries and sauce were very good -- and obviously required the least effort. That's what gives me hope. The restaurant itself has sticky floors (which I've tried to avoid after I turned 30) and is a bit of a mess. There's a towel sitting under the big jug of water. It's just not clean or easy to be in. I saw the pics when you guys were a food truck. I know you were making incredible stuff. The gal at the front was friendly enough, but all in all this was a bull*hit experience considering the potential. The restaurants that are consistently good have the owners/head chef watching, caring, and making sure their workers deliver the experience that was intended. I have no doubt if someone who really cared showed up this place would be all I was hoping.
