First time my wife and I come to this place and we ordered fried Jalapeños. They where good but, it was too large for the two of us and we couldn't finish it. My suggestion is maybe offer two different sizes. Then we each ordered the Brisket dinner plate and WOW! That was delicious. The meat was tender and well seasoned. I had it with the slaw and natural fries. My wife had salad and fries with hers. Poor thing couldn't finished it. I downed it with a couple of Abita Boot beers. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! My husband was in the mood for some BBQ so I found this place on Yelp. So glad he decided to give it a try. So let's start with atmosphere. Very small inside, semi dimly lit, colorful with concert posters and funny BBQ friendly table cloths. VERY clean. The waitress told us to sit wherever and they had some pretty good rock n roll and country in the background. Good atmosphere. Our waitress talked, a LOT! And I appreciated it because she knows what she's talking about and gives great feedback. She gave good recommendations and each one hit home with us. I liked how she stressed that everything was made in house fresh daily and that they make their own BBQ sauce, describing the small one as more vinegary and the tall one as the sweeter sauce. Try them both, but we all lost it over the sweet sauce. Food: we started with the brisket potato skins. Awesome... She even brought us some ranch and said to drizzle it over the top, "because ranch makes everything better". What I will say is, while it did make it better, they were so good to begin with that we didn't need any. I ordered the sliced smoked brisket plate with collard greens and SUPER TASTY brisket baked beans. Not even halfway through I needed a box. Everyone else around me got the BBQ chicken, pulled pork, and brisket sliders. Zero complaints, very little talking done, lots of "Mmmms". To top it all off the cook? Owner? Came out himself to ask how everything was and what feedback we could offer. I thought it was sweet that he said he's working everyday to perfect the sauce. (It's already perfect). It was so good I pushed the issue to everyone around me for the next 24 hours to go try it, and my parents did the very next day for lunch. I have friends who drive from the Metairie, New Orleans and even the West Bank just to come here. They all agree "It is worth the drive" and they come back frequently for it. Finally we have an awesome BBQ place in Mandeville! Started with the pulled pork, pimento cheese potato skins topped with a perfect complimentary creamy slaw. Such a great appetizer, I don't think I'll ever be able to order anything else regardless of the insane amount of leftovers we had. I had the smoked sausage and the chopped brisket combo plate with the mac n cheese. Absolutely amazing! The sausage was cooked to a juicy, smoky perfection. The brisket had a great flavor I didn't even add much BBQ sauce. Oh and the mac was soooo creamy, cheesy and divine. The service was great and personable. We can't wait to go back! Tip: We went close to 7:30, so we will definitely have to go back during lunch next time. Cool little place with BIG portions. We started with brisket chili fries . It was a little bit of heaven . Huge portion enough for the family. Good flavor with a little bit of kick . The kids had pulled pork sandwich and mac & cheese and highly recommend. My wife had the chopped brisket and it was amazing . Big ol sandwich with tons of meat . They were able to get our food ready in a decent amount of time and they have fair prices. The baked beans are absolutely amazing and have brisket cooked in them. we ordered chicken and received one small pitiful order of chicken. We arrived to pick up the order and there was no more chicken! We ordered a LIL BUNDLE that was supposed to come with pork and chicken and sides and bread. the bundle didn't come as a bundle. The sides were in a completely different bag. When we went to drop off the bundle to our sick neighbors, the sides were not in the bundle. All of the orders were wrong and it's so disappointing especially on the 4th. Stopped in Saturday evening to check out the food. Wow and hallelujah. Finally, a BBQ restaurant that is good. Better than good, actually. It's fantastic. At every level, 5 stars, all the way. I use to live in Tennessee, and have since had trouble finding any BBQ that compares to what was available up there. Especially vinegar BBQ. The vinegar sauce at Stick N Bones was delicious and went well with the smoked chicken. Shucks, it went great with everything. The staff were attentive, patient, and very nice. It got a little crowded at one point and take out customers were coming in steadily, but the staff held it together. The smoked chicken was great. It wasn't dry, and the taste was just incredible with every bite. The sausage, brisket, and salad were all great as well. We returned for another try(for me) and the food has definitely improved from the last time I was there. Pulled pork was excellent and the chicken was tender and juicy. The two sauces were very good. Baked beans are good, Mac and cheese good they still need work on the collards. The collards need to have the ribs removed from the leaves please. read more

The ribs were very good and in the combo plate they gave 4 ribs, The brisket was average, mainly because a third of the 3 piece's given had too much uncarved fat on them. The meat was tender and did taste good but a small portion without the fat. They were out of potato salad and running out of ribs (crazy), while we were there. I owned a few restaurants in Texas many years back and I know it takes time to get going right. But, those were 200 seat restaurants and Sticks 'n Bones is maybe a 35 seat restaurant. Living in Houston and Dallas for 20 years spoiled me on BBQ, because nothing compares to the portion sizes and the value you get in TX. You'll spend the same money here for half the amount. I still plan to return because they're better then Dickey's. I will update this after eating a few more times at Sticks 'n Bones! read more

Definitely my new favorite barbecue place! Everything was DELICIOUS! I had the Chopped Cheezy, which is chopped beef brisket topped with macaroni & cheese on a bun. Trust me: you NEED this in your life. My husband had the 2-meats plate (he chose pulled pork and chopped brisket) with sides of collard greens and macaroni & cheese. The plate came with a big, buttery slice of Texas toast. Here are our takeaways: 1. This is EXCELLENT mac & cheese. BBQ joints always have this menu offering, and it's usually mediocre at best. Not here - this macaroni is FANTASTIC! 2. Collard greens were amazing!! Perfect amount of salt, tender...these were clearly slow cooked to perfection by someone who understands soul food. 3. My husband wanted Bar-b-que and after reading several reviews on Yelp and online we decided to give the place a chance. My son had the smoked naked wings. They were delicious and seasoned right. Hubby had brisket, brisket beans and Mac and cheese. He enjoyed the meal and was in love with the brisket and beans. I had ribs, they were very good, falling off the bone. My salad was really good as well. The salad was well rinsed. I have had experiences in the past were I found dirt on my salad. The owners were very nice and accommodating. They talked to us as if we've known them for years. They spoke to everyone who walked through the door and even had conversations with their regular guest. Oh my! So finger-lickin' awesome, we forgot to pour on extra BBQ sauce available at the table! This BBQ is amazing. We shared the 1/2 rack of baby-back ribs - so meaty down to the bone. The collard greens we so good even my husband ate them - one who does not care for greens of any kind. And the Brisket Baked Beans were so very tasty! The Sticks Sammie is unreal. Got mine with chopped brisket, which was super tender, with just enough crispy ends. The toast stayed crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle. Great little place for some delicious bbq! Chopped Brisket was moist with the right amount of fat and burnt ends throughout. Baby back Ribs, tender with a hint of sweetness and smoke. No sauce needed. Sausage is smoked with a rough grind to have a taste and chew of an old school craftsman. I really like the coleslaw because it isn't coated in mayo. Simple and fresh. Mac & Cheese not the best that I have had, but you have a good blend of cheese sauce and pasta. Yes, I would order it again. My one wish: Spicy/hot bbq sauce. They have 2 versions: sweet smoky and vinegar based. Both are good and don't taste like a bottle brand. Looking forward to trying the other meat selections. read more
