We've driven past many times since it's close to home and overall staff is very nice. It was a slow Thursday for dining in so I will say that I feel like it should have been easier for them to check on us at better intervals. At the same time, we were in no rush and definitely enjoying a relaxed evening. Still, and perhaps more importantly the pizza was really good and fresh. We don't eat pork so there was a little confusion on whether or not they had chicken sausage but luckily they resolved it quickly and without any problem. And just to be clear they do not have chicken sausage. We started with the thick crust made with beer. Then we ordered the BBQ chicken pizza thin crust which was also very good. Both crusts were light and tasty. I also tried the apple salad which had plenty of the walnuts and just the right amount of salad dressing. My kids were just picking the apples out so take that for what it's worth. You use the qr code for their menu but the web prices are definitely not updated. So even though they warn you of that on the site I was surprised to see some up charges that weren't mentioned or explained until I asked upon receiving the bill. This is a local spot for us and obviously very close to the Sox stadium so I was hoping for more of a solid experience. Right now, I feel like it was a good experience borderline just ok. While the pizza is super fresh it still seems slightly pricy for the size. I'm on the fence about any effort towards making this a regular spot for us but the food is what makes me most likely to consider it. Like I said nice service but I ultimately ended up wondering if our server was newer staff. We'll have to try it again for a true feel but this is what we have for the initial impression. read more

Another one I've been wanting to try, well today I finally got a chance to. I love supporting neighborhood places, I'm in the neighborhood east of here to be honest, but it's still close enough to walk. This is a combined venture from what I can see, the Red-Line Cafe and Stix n Bricks, we sat on the cafe side, however since I ordered wood fired pizza, I'm reviewing under that name. It's really all one space anyhow. The brix in the name I'm guessing is because of the brick walls, nice atmosphere but maybe a few more pictures will be a finishing touch. You order at the counter and if you're eating in they'll bring it out to you. There's several different pizzas and they graciously will make substitutions if you don't like the exact combination, this rates really high with me. The crust had just the right amount of char from the wood fired oven, balanced ingredients and tasty sauce. I also had the tiramisu because they make it on site, a generous slice and very good. Many places make this with huge amounts of mascarpone, imo this isn't necessary or the proper preparation, this was the closest to what an Italian chef made for me years ago. It's the version I haven't been able to find. They put a little dollop of cream on top, it's so good that touch isn't necessary. The other thing that rates is real plates and silverware, there's another place in the 'hood that uses plastic, not fun for real food. Service is very friendly, and not rushed. I know it's a brick oven pizza but it was a bit darker and more dry than I would have wanted. A group of us when unexpectedly, we received everything in a timely manner but flavor just wasn't there. Went for the first time today. Burrata Crostini was absolutely Delicious! My boyfriend had the Ceasars salad and the homemade croutons were So Good! Next I had the Pepperoni Pizza and he had the Beef and Giardiniera pizza. Then we moved on to Dessert! OMG! Banana Cream Pie and Gelato Brownie Sundae served warm. Again, The Best! We Live in the neighborhood so we were able to bike to this location. Upon sitting down we were served promptly and the food was amazing!! Both pizzas that we ordered were fantastic. We got a gluten-free margherita and a regular sausage to go. The pizzas seem like they're going to be small but they are actually a good size. They are pretty minimal, especially the margherita, so not for everyone - if you're expecting a big pile of cheese, forget it, as they just put on a few pieces of burrata. Pleasant addition to the Bridgeport pizza circle. This is the first to offer woodfire pizzas, a welcome addition to the traditional thin and deep found at the other spots. We tried three amongst my group, a sausage/pepperoni, a white pizza, and I wanna say prosciutto? I can't remember exactly, but they were all very good. You can see the big stove from where you sit which is cool. The apps looked good but honestly I don't think I'd be able to eat all that too. It's also BYOB which is very cool. The servers all seemed very nice and helpful, willing to move tables if need be. It's connected to Red Line Cafe through a hallway in the back (another cool spot) Easy to get to right off the Dan Ryan, or the 35th red line stop, and street parking is easy as long as sox aren't playing. I ordered the fig and pig pizza and a meatball marinara pasta. The crust on the pizza was cooked to perfection. It was the perfect balance of flaky and chewy. It is a thinner crust but it still had a good bite to it. They say it's a 10in pizza but I would say it's a little larger 10 than 10in. I'm comparing it to the size of a 10 in pizza from a chain pizza restaurant (or dominos). The flavors of the pizza I chose was sweet and salty which was definitely an innovative take on a pizza. It left me wanting more. The pasta was so/so. The meatballs tasted like they were homemade. The pasta itself was just mediocre in the sense that there was nothing interesting about the noodles (typical texture) and the sauce definitely needed more seasoning. Sauce tasted like purée tomatoes and there wasn't much depth in flavor. Service was wonderful. My waitress was very easy to talk to and very accommodating. This is a great little restaurant across the street from Sox Park. They have an awesome variety of wood fire pizzas and the best pasta. My favorite pasta is Pasta Rosa. It is a delicious vodka sauce with whole simmered tomatoes. The staff is very friendly and nice and shows care for you. As a Bridgeport girl, I loved the concept of this spot. It's jointly managed/owned with red line cafe next door. During lunch hours they open the cafe side and serve their pizzas on that end. Would love to go check it out next time. Had Cesar salad and the prosciutto arugula pizza. Me and a friend shared both and had their dessert (a gelato). By the end we were nicely satisfied. The Cesar salad had good flavor and was a reasonable portion to split. The pizza comes as a 10inch with about 6 slices. I think more arugula would have balanced the earthiness of the prosciutto but it was perfect after I sprinkled some more parm on top. Our server, April was the nicest. She was attentive to all her tables and customers. She was honest when she forgot to fully submit our order, thanked us for our patience, and treated us to a dessert. What a wonderful neighborhood gem. Although I'm not a local, the staff made me feel welcome. I witnessed how nice it is to be a local and a regular: as new parties entered they were warmly greeted by staff and the other diners. There were couples on date nights, families with young children, and I heard the owner say he was preparing for several large parties later in the evening. This is obviously a very well loved local favorite. I started with the Apple salad, which was delicious. The large option would be a meal in itself. I also had the ricotta potato pizza, because I love ricotta. It was a little too heavy on the potato and a little light on the ricotta for my taste. But that didn't stop me from eating the whole darned thing (although I took half back to enjoy for lunch tomorrow, I ended up eating it as a midnight snack). I also got the free yelp dessert with check-in offer; I choose the tiramisu which was good. If I lived nearby I'd definitely return again to try the other pizzas. For White Sox fans it's a great place to enjoy a pre- or post-game meal as it's across the street from the park. An easy walk from the L too. read more

Great place, so over-looked, a hidden Southside gem! Brick oven pizza is made to order with amazing crust. Salads are unique and delicious. Craft beer draft options are great and CHEAP!!! Starting with the positives I love the location, it definitely fills the gap of Neapolitan style pizza that this area was lacking. Also adds a great spot for food before a Sox game. The restaurant is on the smaller side, and feels cozy. The garage door is a great touch for warm weather with a good view of the park. They serve a small variety of beers and wine but no liquor. I thought that pizza was very reasonably priced and you can share to mix and match or get your own. We shared the Potato Ricotta Pizza because it stood out as unique. Though I enjoyed it, it was a little bland, it felt like it needed more flavor or was missing something (maybe bacon?!). We also did the prosciutto arugula pizza which was a red pizza and pretty tasty. Overall the pizza was good, but it wasn't close to some of the best wood fired pizza I've had in Chicago so I was a bit disappointed considering the five star review the restaurant had when I looked it up.
