We had delicious pulled pork and the Bridge Crosser sandwich, both well made with fresh ingredients. Good hummus and pita basted with curry flavored butter stood out on a med. plate appetizer that would have been even better with oil cured olives, instead of jarred ones, along with the crunchy vegetables. We came in on a weekday mid afternoon. It was quiet except for us, but it was easy to imagine a lively crowd during typical service. Friendly, easy to find, with lots of parking. We just ate the most amazing meals here! I had the maritime seafood stew which was full of jumbo shrimp mussels scallops and fish done to perfection! Other meals served were seafood casserole.... delicious and the Nantucket swordfish dish unbelievable good!! Helena the chef is a hidden gem in buzzard bay!! This was the worst place ever. Everything is over priced food wasn't good at all. Not sure why people give the a 4 to 5 star rating. The sell $26.00 beers that have a born on date over a year old. These beers are not clearly identified on the menu as to how much they are. Staff wasn't pleasant will not return to this place. Not sure even how it stays in business. This was my favorite place in buzzards bay. The service was top notch and attentive as always. However the food was extremely disappointing. I ordered the most expensive item on the menu....the carpetbagger which is a filet mignon topped with lobster hollandaise. What arrived was a grade d sirloin cooked well past extremely done topped with boiled rubbery lobster. To be fair I was offered a replacement....but after waiting for an unreasonable amount of time I checked out of the tab and left. So sad. Had recommended this restaurant to many friends and neighbors. Will not be returning. read more

We met friends here on a Saturday afternoon in Feb. I had called beforehand wondering if we needed reservations & was told no but our name was taken. We made a special request for a person in our party who needed food prepared a certain way due to medical reasons. They were very happy to oblige. Our server was very pleasant and she made sure our special request was to our liking. My husband & I had the Charlie's Chowder. It was Amazing!!! It was also very filling and worth every bite. As others have noted in their reviews, it is filled with lots of seafood, and we can't wait to be back to try it again. Other dishes our table also tried were the Maritime Mediterranean Stew, which was also given a great review, and the chicken salad wrap which was enjoyed as well. The wine was very tasty & my husband tried their pale ale which he unexpectedly really enjoyed compared to his regular beer. We look forward to another visit soon...maybe dinner next time. read more

The food is excellent! We've been here for brunch and dinner, and both have been great. From craft cocktails, to local seafood, seasonal veggies, and friendly service, this place is a nice option. I just attended a small graduation party on Sunday. My friends rented out this charming restaurant which has a very downhome feel. Indoor seating, porch and patio seating as well. The layout of this restaurant kept the party flowing and allowed you to mingle before committing to a location. A special menu was created for this party. Bite size sandwiches ie lobster roll, pull pork w/home Cole slaw and chicken salad. All my favorites. Very good selection of beer and the service was very attentive. My husband and I returned here with my brother, and for the first time we all ordered something other than seafood. My filet mignon and his lamb dinner were delicious, as was my brother's strip steak. I am a big fan of their lobster & shrimp tarragon too, and have had their swordfish dinner too, but we were just as pleased with the beef and the colorful vegetables that were served with it. We were also (quietly) entertained by Dave Yeager playing his guitar, and it made for a very unexpected, fun night. a friend and I decided to try something new. Over the bridge we went and ended up here. Used to be a coffee/breakfast place. Walk in no one greets us, finally one woman seats us and asks if we are going to have dinner (its 730pm???) The prices are quite steep for this tiny place. The tables were small, it was dark and it was cool and we were at one for 4. We settled on splitting a sandwich but first wanted the appetizer Crab cakes.. We waited and waited and waited. We asked for water and were brought glasses with tap water, no ice, no lemon and she NEVER offered to refill them. No music, deafening silence and about 5 other patrons. Our appetizer was delivered WITH our hot sandwich...........which was cold by the time we went to eat it. They "warmed" it up but it was fair. Only one person was doing the bar and the waitressing and for all we know she was cooking too. Awful service, fairly lousy food. over all very disappointing. Stopped by for brunch, the egg sandwich with avocado served with perfectly cooked home fries and a side of fruit was awesome. Heading home from Provincetown, after a fun filled day, we wanted something other than seafood. This place came up on the google search. Great reviews added to our intrigue and hunger. This is a gem of a restaurant. To our amazement, we'd been in this little house before, years before, when it was Flip Flop. Now it's a grille that serves up an incredible chowdah, some awesome meals, local beer available to quench your thirst and perhaps a surprise awaits with some live music. in all fairness this is a brand new place just starting out. it seemed they were desperate for customers, but its a rainy saturday. We just got a few items as it is a primarily seafood restaurant and we are not big seafood foodies. i got the clam chowder as it is something i get everywhere i go to try it out. this clam chowder was not the most delicious unfortunately. not even close in my opinion. it was a little thin for my liking and had far too much thyme (or rosemary?? couldnt quite pinpoint it) however, the chunks of lobster and potato and vegetables were outstanding!! tweak it just a little and i think it would be fantastic. I love that this cafe features some local area businesses such as cape cod coffee roasters and beckys bakery. the brunch and lunch menus looked a little more appetizing to my tastes and we will surely be back to check it out. read more

Good reviews for this place are not a fluke. I went on July 4th with my girlfriend and her family. Huge portions friendly staff and awesome vinyl album cover artwork on the walls. Seafood was amazing. No complaints and will definitely be back. Looking forward to trying their Sunday brunch menu in the future. read more

Truly fabulous meal! Unhurried service. My husband and I came cross this restaurant by accident and it was perfect. We had been traveling all day getting hungrier and did not know where to stop. We are so pleased to have taken a chance on Stomping Ground. We drove past it once, unsure what it was. Their exterior lighting was covered by the monumental snow and the temporary sign wasn't much help. With the help of a little parking lot Yelping we entered. It's a small intimate venue, a lovely old home with original quality details. There are meat and seafood choices. I wish I could have sampled more of them. Our meals we're beautifully presented without all of the extra "scribble sauce" so many chefs go in for. After my husband complimented his meal of roasted lamb tenderloin (he has never complimented a chef) she came out to speak with us. The entire experience was all very honest and down to earth. Had dinner here last night and was pleasantly surprised by the food and the atmosphere. Lovely wood work and tin ceiling add up to to a nice feel inside the restaurant. We had a very relaxing dining experience and enjoyed our food. I will say the prices are a little high for Main Street Buzzards Bay, but the dishes we ordered had tons of seafood in them so that definitely made up for it. I had the chowder which was chock full of seafood and my husband had the shrimp and lobster tarragon which also had an abundance of seafood on it. The crab cake was yummy as well. Our waitress was very nice and we chatted with one of the owners for a bit as well, who was also very nice and welcoming. We will definitely go back again. read more

Decided to give this place a try with my husband and 15 year old son on our way to watch his brother play soccer at Mass Maritime. It was a Friday night, and I was concerned at first because there was no one there but us a few minutes after 5:00. But, all three of us were pleasantly surprised by the great food and atmosphere. First my husband had the seafood chowder - said it was the best he ever had. Then the main course he had fish and shrimp and I had scallops. In trying to support local business we decided to have dinner here tonight. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the service and food we found. It is BYOB until they have a liquor license, so we brought our own bottle of wine. They will open and provide glasses. The chowder was fantastic. Large pieces of lobster were a nice surprise. We both had the braised beef special with mashed sweet potato and asparagus. Well worth the price. To full to try dessert. Our server was very attentive and the chef came to our table to check on us. I purchased a certificate from cape cod marketplace so I could check this place out and I am so pleased that I did. It is new in town and welcomed. Three of us went for dinner and the food ... well complements to the chef! I ordered the Chicken oscar. I was impressed with the amount of lobster ... which they DO say is mounded on top of the chicken and trust me, it was MOUNDED! Then covered with a perfectly seasoned bearnaise sauce that was fabulous. The asparagus was cooked al dente and Included was a very, very deliciously seasoned squash side dish. I only give four stars because one of the three dishes at our table was not as hot as she would have liked it but the food itself was outstanding and enough for more than one meal (which of course we enjoyed another day). The waitress was excellent and made us all very comfortable. As I said, this place is new in town. I have high hopes for it as the food is EXCELLENT! read more

Only thing missing was a option of a vegetable or salad to accompany the entree. Mother and son team operate the restaurant and do a very nice job. What a nice restaurant! Everything was great - the house does look like a bed and breakfast as someone else pointed out. Very nicely done and comfortable - and unique. The food was excellent. We went for lunch and had the crabby on land (crabcake sandwich). my friend had the chowder which she loved and I also tasted and thought it was excellent. My husband and I has dinner last night using the yelp coupon. It was fabulous. I wish we had brought wine or champagne to accompany this awesome meal. They do not have a liquor license yet.My husband had a lobster, scallop,and cod chowder that was light and delicious.Plenty of seafood. He also had the cod with shrimp called the Buzzards Bay casserole. He thought it was delicious.I had the steak au poivre that was cooked perfectly with a peppercorn sauce. The vegetables that night were a mix of fresh zucchini, yellow summer squash and onions.The mashed potatoes were so great! All was wonderful. The steak was huge and better than Bleu in Mashpee. We split the tiramasu and I would order that again in a heartbeat.It was nice and light! Our server was so friendly and efficient.We heard soft Beatles music in the background. Now they have a fixed price menu Wed-Friday but the coupon won't be accepted for that deal. I was fine using it for the steak meal and will go back for the fixed price meal soon. Four of us had dinner last night and it was the first time here for all of us. We had no idea what to expect except from the great reviews. We all had a delicious meal, enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, and had excellent service. We ordered Charlie's Chowder, Stomping Wings, Lobster Ravioli, Swordfish Nantucket, Ribs, Seafood Stew and a piece of pumpkin cheesecake. The coffee was steaming hot, which made the dessert all the better. Our food was fresh and extremely tasty and there was plenty left to take home. Some pleasant surprises: wings on the bone (yummy and non-traditional), LOTS of lobster even on top of the Lobster Ravioli, bits of lobster in the clam chowder. The personalities of the owners were shining through in every last detail, including the bar stool covers, dishware and wall hangings. BYOB just made it all the more casual and fun.
