This is a tough one for me. Hopes were so high! The decor and and the space is absolutely beautiful. Really really clean! Awesome bar. Super friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Really inspired, inventive menu. SEEMED SO PROMISING. We were really excited about this.. But then food started to come .. Wasn't horrible just wasn't very good. Items definitely sounded way better on menu than it was in actuality. The best thing we got were the wings which we got 2 kinds ... Were ok , if not basically unremarkable. I love this restaurant! It is exactly the kind of place I have been looking for in this area: great food, interesting menu, clean, nice but casual atmosphere, reasonable prices, friendly staff and a full bar. It is my goal to try everything on the menu! Highlights so far have been the homemade dressing and croutons on the Caesar salad, to-die for Mac and cheese, and seared ahi with a chili bbq type sauce (get the sauce on the side though). Everyone I bring here loves it too! Update: I had the wings there for the first time the other day and they were SO over-sauced and very tiny/not meaty. Will definitely not be re-ordering. Went here on a whim 12/16. Food was excellent. Our waiter Steve was great. Our son had a pepperoni pizza; crust was thin and perfect. Pizza wasn't oily and was very good. I had a salad with grilled hangar steak; awesome. My husband had the tuna tacos; also great. Will definitely go back. BUT! One thing missing! The bar does not have a blender!!! Love what they have done with the place. Totally transformed it from a sleezy bar into a beautiful restaurant. Love the menu has a great selection of small plates and large plates and appetizers. They always offer specials daily during their happy hour. Our favorite is the oven roasted brussel sprouts with Applewood smoked bacon and balsamic vinegar. Compliments just about anything you order. I am absolutely appalled by what happened to my friends and I at the Stone Fire Grills last night. We are seniors and were told by a friend how amazing the food is, so we figured we would give it a try. The Buffalo Wings were delicious, The Mozzarella Pops were super (cold and bland to say the least), and the Calamari was average. The experience, though, was HORRENDOUS!!! The bartenders only pay attention to certain patrons, all while catering to the ones who do not need a drink. I could not enjoy my minimally satisfying food because of the level of intoxication displayed by a patron who kept being served by these ladies. She was so drunk, screaming abruptly, and we could not even hear ourselves think. We asked her to be quiet a few times, as well as other guests, yet nothing was done, except the bartenders continuously serving her what she should have not been consuming!! Finally, after this trainwreck finally left, another group of WASTED young men came to the bar, already drunk, and guess what? SERVED!!! And again, we could not enjoy our meal or game. The bartenders have no consideration about what is going on when their friends come in. It's almost as if it is a select party in that establishment. Very childish, unprofessional, and disgraceful. To sum it up, our waitress RIANE displayed what unprofessional really is and how it is allowed in that establishment. I had accidentally forgotten my debit card, so my neighbor had to pay the bill, which left us short for the 20% tip she DID NOT DESERVE to begin with. We had left a small tip, in which I was going to return today with the remainder, plus more, because of how bad I had felt. When she saw her tip, she LOUDLY ANNOUNCED how disappointed she was to the bar, as well as the bartenders, where they all spoke about me to publicly embarrass me. She then came over to me, handed me a $1 Bill, and said she didn't need it, and that I should "save it for the bus". She said that in a condescending tone, almost as if her 4'1 self was better than me because she has better means of transportation than I do. THAT IS AS LOW CLASS AS YOU CAN GO!!!! I totally understand that it is upsetting when you don't receive your full tip, and I understand how you are going to vent, but wait until I am gone, and also be a little professional and do it amongst coworkers!!! She was going to receive a 50% tip today, but after those remarks, she is receiving a Yelp Review instead. You also need to learn to pay attention to your tables, give napkins and plates, and respect your customers!!! In all, my experience was awful. The staff at this "renovated" establishment completely lacks customer service skills, which is the #1 key for returning business. The only thing that has changed about this dive is the decor, but soon enough that'll also fade away with the trash that they employee. read more

Just picked up dinner and I have to say how nice and professional everyone was (like always). I walked in and I got greeted right away, with an upbeat attitude. Everyone had gloves and mask on (which I have to say some restaurants are not doing this). They brought my food out and rang me up. The phone rang for a to go order and the two girls were, apologizing since I was waiting for them to take my card, which was no big deal at all. The food was great! You can tell when an owner really cares, and he does! I felt comfortable to grab my food and not worry about anything that is going on with this virus. Went for dinner on 02/08/20. Had the short rib dinner, which was served on top of mashed potatoes with asparagus. It was out of this world. It was the best dinner I had in a restaurant in awhile. The meat was served off the bone and as tender as could be. Portion was just right, well worth the cost. Will definitely be going back. read more

Husband and I went for lunch this week. They have unbelievable specials between 12pm and 3pm - a variety of dishes, soup or salad and either a beer or a glass of wine for $10! The portions were big and the food was very good. I had the Hanger Steak with green beans and fries and husband had a chicken, bacon and avocado panini with home made chips. The steak was pinker than I would have thought "medium" should be, but it tasted good and the green beans were delicious! The panini was the size of 2 sandwiches you'd make yourself at home and the chicken was "shaved" - sliced super thin. He brought half home and ended up with another meal out of it! We didn't have the booze, had unsweetened iced tea instead. We were charged separately for the tea (surprised the drinking liquor would have been a cheaper bill) but we didn't notice that until after we ordered. It was fine, but other folks should be aware the way that works. Overall, really good experience for a very reasonably priced and tasty, local lunch. Thanks so much! read more

Had the opportunity to enjoy lunch with a friend here last Saturday. My first visit but I will definitely be back (even though I live in North Jersey!) . The ambience was casual but in a cool way. But was really impressed by the food (much better than your usual pub grub although many of those favorites are on the menu) which was really well prepared and also the service, which was top notch. The menu had a small yet wonderful selection, which provided me much relief. Small menus normally indicate they are able to focus more on perfecting the dishes rather than getting their hands on too many things at once. With that being said, our food was tasty! The starter we had (pork carnitas with guacamole) was a small but "perfectly small" portion, but the main dishes sizable. However, it was pricey for what you're getting. The pulled pork flatbread didn't really taste like pulled pork, but it was still really delicious! Maybe I'm just picky because I've had pulled pork from the south, but I'm not complaining because it's something I would eat again. It was $13, and the pork with guac was $10. The 50/50 burger was also alright, but you can only order it medium to well-done. I guess it's nice to know that they care about your safety. My only complaint was that my water wasn't refilled, but at least the waitress/waiter packed my food to go for me (because that flatbread was huge)! I think this place deserves 3.5 stars. The atmosphere is a nice balance of sports bar/restaurant. You can eat there comfortably without feeling overwhelmed by the fans. ;) read more

Came here with some friends for some early St. Patty's day dinner, since there was plenty of seating available (except at the bar, which was mobbed), and we had a decently sized group of hungry people. First off, the menu is relatively small, and I appreciate this - more restaurants need to actually *focus* on the foods they're good at, instead of trying to this weird "jack of all trades" sorta thing. A large chalkboard displayed all the beers on tap, with quite a few really good local craft brews, a nice touch. Beer was priced well, and I can see myself coming here again for some tapas-style apps at the bar, coupled with a good brew or two. Dinner service was a mixed bag. Our servers were friendly and helpful, but food took quite a long time to come out, and when it came time to pay our checks, more waiting. For my dinner, I ordered the "Bangers and Mash" - since they use lamb for the sausages here, instead of the typical beef. I forget off the top of my head what the cost was (I think it was around $12-14?), and while the flavor was excellent; I was pretty disappointed with the portion size. What I ended up with was a large plate filled with mostly gravy, a scoop or two of mashed potatoes, and one sausage. Seriously, guys, just one? The fact that it's called "bangers" and mash on the menu led me to believe that I'd get at least two sausages, not one; it should have been advertised it as "Banger and Mash". Even the friends around me commented with things like, "Oh, I guess the kitchen ran out of sausages, huh?", and "Is that an appetizer size?". Hmph. As said previously however, the food was pretty good, and they certainly have some talent in the kitchen. They had a neat little 'tapas' menu with apps that run from $5.50 to $12 or so, and from what I sampled from friends plates, quite tasty. You could easily make a really hearty dinner out of two of the small plates and a beer, and still be under $20, so bravo, that might be the key, here. I'll probably be back sometime in the near future; hopefully the service improves a bit next time, as does the portion sizes of whatever I end up ordering, since based on what I saw with friends' plates, portion sizes are kind of all over the place here, with some of the cheap tapas being sizable, and many of the entrees being a bit lacking. If I were able, I'd probably rate my experience at a 3.5 - I'll certainly go back, but not in any big rush. read more

We visited the Stone Fire Grille this weekend in Beachwood NJ with our friends for Sunday Night Football, Beside the Horrible Experience we had at the local dive bar across the street. We had a fantastic time visiting. The owners and staff treated us to a warm and cheerful atmosphere. The hostesses,bartenders and especially the wait staff who were personable and fun made our experience more enjoyable.Our new best friend will undoubtedly be the chef who created and prepared some delicious meals for us. This is a place you have to check out. The service is always fast and the wait staff is friendly and eager to please. Lets start with the apps, brussel sprouts with balsamic was awesome, poke sushi bowl, outstanding and Ahi Tuna Crudo Tacos ..Wow. Next was my entree, Crispy Chili Calamari Salad, honestly it sounds weird but it was probably one of the best dishes I've had in a long time. We have a summer home in Bayville and have driven past this restaurant every weekend during the summer and never thought to try it. Last weekend we finally went and wished we would have went a lot sooner! First of all, I don't understand why the people who live in the area have given it such poor reviews. They obviously don't know good food and don't want to pay money for it. They really should appreciate the fact that they have a 4 star restaurant in the area because believe me I wish we had this place up in Bergen County. We sat at the bar on a Saturday evening. Sitting at the bar is great because you get to talk to the bartender and there were sporting events on the TV which is nice to watch while you eat. The bartender, whose name I think is Tiffany is awesome. She made great recommendations and all were excellent! I had the pineapple upside down martini which was made to perfection. My husband and I shared the mozzarella pops which were fried perfectly and served with pesto on one side and marinara on the other. For dinner my husband had a burger which was grass fed so you know the quality is superb and yes, does taste better. His burger was actually slightly bigger than the bun which is how it should be. I wasn't super hungry so the bartender recommended the macaroni and cheese appetizer to me. This mac and cheese was life changing!! It is your typical mac and cheese, made to order, but they add cheez it crackers to the top and bake it. Amazing! For dessert we shared a peanut butter brownie sundae that was homemade and about 3000 calories but worth every one of them! We also met the owner who was so sweet and friendly. You can see that a lot of money was put into this restaurant and it's really nice and very spacious inside. Bar is huge. Already thinking about coming back again this weekend! read more

Tia and John are amazing! They sponsored my team, Emily's Euphoria, for the Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Walk this year. Tia and John generously donated some space in the restaurant and some food for my group of 40-50 people. They made sure no one went hungry and made sure everything was perfect for me. It was such a success and meant so much to me. They truly went above and beyond. So glad we have a great restaurant and bar in Beachwood where when you walk in you feel like family. Great food!
