Went here for the first time to see what all the fuss is about. I think I've heard the commercial Bill Handel has on KFI thousands of times. Well, this place is not very good. It's actually terrible. I don't see how it will last in the city of Brea. Why? Because Brea has really great options... Yardhouse, Cheesecake Factory, Urban Plates, Taps, El Torito, Lucille's, Ichiban, Buffalo Wild Wings, Claim Jumper, Olive Garden, Souplantation, BJ's, Red Lobster.... all which are better than this place. All those restaurants are better options than Stone Fire Grill. The price of food is moderate. It definitely isn't a good value considering you have to wait in line to place your order and then find seating, get your own plates, napkins, utensils, and water/ drinks. Considering it was our first time there; I think it would have been helpful to have someone guide you through the process more effectively than just tell us to get in line. I was actually pretty surprised that you have to go get your own napkins and utensils. I don't know why the server cannot bring them along with bringing your food or at least have a napkins dispenser at your table. The layout of the restaurant is poor. The distance to get the needed items is a bit far. I have had better service at Chick-Fil-A but then again Chick-Fil-A has exceptional service. They seem very willing to assist you; not at Stone Fire Grill. I suggest the staff here takes a few pointers from Chick-fil-A. I've received excellent service at every single Chick-fil-A I've been to; from Irvine, Brea, Anaheim, La Habra, Chino Hills, Industry. It's no fail. The staff at Chick-fil-A are friendly and seem like they actually want to help you. They bring your food and ask you if they can refill your drink as a courtesy. I only interacted with a handful of staff but it was pretty laughable. I don't know if the people they hired had no experience in the restaurant industry, are not properly trained, or are just unaware of what they're there to do. One girl asked me if I needed anything and I asked her very nicely if she could give me a few napkins. She gave me this puzzled wide eyed look like I was asking her to do something I shouldn't be and said 'okay' seemingly reluctantly. My son ordered a whole pizza that arrived cold to touch. It came out too early. We had just sat down. It also came about 15 minutes before the rest of our other food as if it was made before we ordered it and had just been sitting around getting cool. Well when I told a guy working there that it was cold, he touched it with his hand and said 'it seems warm to me.' I'm sorry, but what? It was not hot and we didn't appreciate being told that our concerns were invalid. Nevertheless, he took the whole pizza back and came back 15 minutes later with a pizza that was hot but undercooked. So both pizzas were not good. I ordered the sea bass with the cauliflower salad (on a separate plate). The plate was metal and it was cold. I asked the server if the fish is served cold before I touched it and she looked at me confused. No, the plate apparently is cold to touch like a salad plate at the salad bar at Claim Jumper but the fish was supposed to be served hot. What does the kitchen think happens when a piece of grilled fish is served on a cold metal plate? What happens is the food which is supposed to be hot is lukewarm by the time it's brought to the table. We ordered a brownie which was also very cold. We ended up leaving without finishing our food. It was just a huge disappointment. If standing in line to order your food is the 'draw' of this place; I would recommend that you go to Urban Plates instead. The food is better. The value for the food you get for the money you pay is better. Plus the decor and lay out of Urban plates is a lot nicer and has more of a comfy, 'homey' atmosphere. Stonefire Grill is poorly designed inside and their layout is not conducive for the style of dining; it looks and feels like a cafeteria. Lesson of the day, if a manager offers to give you a gift card for food that needs to be returned, DO NOT TAKE IT!!! Get cash or risk getting stiffed like we did. At the Irvine and Lakewood locations we had a great salad that was being offered for a short time, it was the Fiesta salad (or something close to that). At the Brea location the salad was very different with the kale, which is nicely chopped at the other locations, was in big chunks which totally changed the taste composition. We told one of the servers who got a manager for us. The manager seemed like he was having a very bad day and not pleased at all to hearing the salad was different from the two other spots, although we got a Luke warm,"ya, the chunks are pretty big. Instead of offering to refund us the money (the salad virtually untouched) we had to "suggest" that option to him. A few minutes later he came out with the gift card and did not offer a decent apology, we felt like we put him out of his way. Here's the punch line (sadly the joke was on us) when we tried to use the card at a subsequent visit, THE CARD HAD A $0 DOLLAR BALANCE AND WE GOT STIFFED. No more visits to Stonefire Brea! read more

How is it possible at 5 pm on a Sunday a restaurant can be out of all their meat products. I called to place an order and I was told they were out of chicken, tri-tip and ribs. This is not the first time this particular location was out of a major menu item. I have never experienced this with such a large chain restaurant. This is just poor planning and customer service. The person taking the order did not even attempt to make this inconvenience right. I will say when they have what we are looking for the food has been good. read more

You order your food while standing in line while you wait for your table to be cleared. You then walk around to find your name on a piece of paper sitting on the table. You get your own silverware, your own drink, and your own napkins. Never once does a waiter/waitress check in on you. I asked for salad dressing on the side. My salad came with no dressing. I didn't know who to ask so I asked the cashier for dressing. She asked if I wanted balsamic or vinegar. Idk who puts vinegar on their salads. WEIRDEST restaurant ever. I wasn't prepared to order food the second I walked in. I honestly thought this was a restaurant where you're seated, have a few minutes to look at a menu and then order. Ordered the steak & cheese sandwich, chicken pesto sandwich, and a side of the carmelized onion dip with potato chips, side of garlic mashed potatoes and stone fire's beans, plus 2 drinks. It came out to $32...food was bland. There was just something off about it. I felt like there needed to be more seasoning on the food. Went for the first time tonight. We loved it. I recommend the Keen Green salad add chicken. Kids liked the cheese pizza and pasta and butter to order it again in the future. Husband had steak and cheese sandwich and he said it was delicious. Steak was tender and nice portions. The breadsticks are delicious!! Ordered our Easter lunch on April 9, 2020. We ordered for an 11:30 pick up. Sat out in front of the restaurant for almost two hours before getting the food. Just Great! Food that was ordered to feed six people is two hours late. If we had not pre-paid we would have just left. The phone number to the location that was listed on the web site went to the corporate headquarters and directly to voice mail. Fortunately, the food was all there when we got home. However, it was cold! Maybe it had been sitting for two hours? No one seemed to know what was going on. It's a shame. We all love Stone Fire Grill. But after this experience, I think we may look elsewhere. I understand it was Easter and a busy day, but the lack of response from anyone to help us get our food has soured us on this place! This place is great. I have been to Stonefire a couple times but never lived near one. Thankfully that all changed a few weeks ago. My wife and I have ordered take out twice already in the past week. The food is pretty good, however they are pretty stingy on some things. I order a kids meal for my son and it comes with a side, in which I ordered tangerines. When his food came out it came with one bread stick instead of the tangerines (my son is 14 months old and his pretty hungry at this point). I told the food runner I actually ordered tangerines, she then takes his food back..I then said can you just leave his Mac and cheese and bring me a side of tangerines? She said no, it's only one side for the kids meal. I mean come on!! My child is hungry and it was ONE bread stick. I'm sure the food cost wouldn't hit too hard on that item. Another issue was I ordered my niece a kids pasta sub meat sauce which I was told would be no problem. One of the managers came over to our table and said sorry the meat sauce isn't for the kids meals...another stingy thing! Also, both times I went to visit they never bring out all your food at once, we were always waiting on someone's food. My wife asked again after 35 min marker and same response. More customer service training please and maybe wise to hire a responsible adult manager in this establishment. Well well well!!! Loved it. Start to finish, it all happened for us here at Stonefire Brea. Warm and cheery atmosphere, super pleasing on the eyes. Super appealing menu with lots of healthy choices if you're into that sort of thing, there is also all the glorious less healthy choices too. Yippee for that I say. There is something for everyone without a doubt. You place order at front and pay. Servers bring it out fairly quick and certainly fresh and hot. Drink included in food charge, yes, that's right... no additional for tea or sodas, vitamin water. Lots of choices for drinks. There is beer and wine too... but that's not free silly! Ok, so they sure got it right when they did their hiring. Nice, observant, happy and bright servers. They were just plain delightful, everyone was helping us it seemed and all three that helped were such a breath of fresh air, seriously!! Managers care about all those manager things but aren't afraid to get their hands dirty. Saw both jump in and out of a few matters during our visit. Impressive. The food was delicious... we did sit first and poured over the menu before we got in line to order. Definitely check it out online before you go or your gonna be sorry. Remember, I warned you! So many terrific things to choose from. Don't miss out on a plate of chips... it's so gosh darn simple and inexpensive. Prices are very reasonable. Oh yes, one more thing, super generous servings. First time at this location. The cashier added extra charges to our bill like charging $6.99 for a salad that could have been added to our meal for $2.99. We also ordered extra potatoes. We could have gone back to have our bill adjusted but the line was so long. We just decided we would absorb the extra cost. We were a party of six with one child (three separate orders). The service was horrible. Part of our party had their food while others did not. Other customers who ordered after us had their food. We had to call one of the employees over telling them that we were missing food. After that we had employees ask us again 3 different times what we had ordered. We finally got most of our food. They never served us the extra salad or potatoes. We were so fed up because of the long wait and horrible service that we left. I will say that food was good. I understand that restaurants are having a hard time finding people to work, but they really need a better system. read more

Last night we tried this place for the first time and it's a one and done kinda place. The guacamole was really good, but that's where the good food ends. My son and law and I ordered the ribs and tri-tip with bbq sauce and we both agreed it was not good at all, and the garlic mash potatoes were very dry. I've been going to Stonefire Grill for years, and this location in Brea just opened recently so I was excited to check it out as it's right by my work! So, I came with a friend last week and I was having an off day and ordered the wrong item. I didn't realize this until after we had paid so I asked the cashier if it was too late to change my order. Note: the cashier had literally just finished swiping the card and we hadn't even signed the receipt yet. Her response was, "Yeah, sorry it's too late." we asked why? she says "Because your card was just swiped so now it's too late." I told her "I'm sorry, but the order hasn't even been started yet. I ordered the wrong thing and I'm not hungry enough to finish it." she says, "I guess you're just going to have to have leftovers then." WHAT?! Worst customer service I've ever gotten. I mean, don't get me wrong, the food was amazing. I just wasn't trying to order that much that night. Luckily, my friend decided to bring up the situation with one of the waiters when they came around to take our empty plates away and a male manager (I didn't catch his name) came to us and apologized for the poor service. He fixed the problem by letting us know that he will address his team and we were compensated for our meal. Went here for a family dinner. The set up is different than most restaurants or food joints. Ordered our food and drinks at the front and then found us a place to sit. If you want more than one beer or wine make sure to order it before hand. The silverware and drinks are to your left. No one brings you silverware. My food came out before my beer.
