An epic fail! We ordered two lunches. We've been to Stonefire a million times, this location, but not in the last 6 months or so. One of us ordered soup and salad, and the other ordered soup and pasta with pesto. The soup (both) came cold, as did the pasta. The salad was soggy. Horrible. We saw our food sitting on the counter for a while before anyone brought it over. The staff was behind the counter, chit- chatting, no one watching. When we asked to see the manager, he miraculously appeared from the back with his assistant. He graciously took care of yhe bill,but you should have seen his face when I showed him the under-cooked, flat (yes, flat) bread sticks(their signature item). This place used to always be full. Although Stonefire Grill is touted as a family-focused restaurant, I actually felt comfortable as a solo eater on a Friday night. You pay at the register and you can sit anywhere you'd like. They give you a tracker, so they know where to place your food. Utensils, napkins, and drinks are all self-serve. And they serve alcohol! I think this is a pretty great way of getting good food in a convenient way. Sometimes I feel awkward sitting by myself at a traditional sit-down restaurant, but I don't necessarily feel like going to a fast-food restaurant or grocery deli either. I ordered their boneless chicken breast and tri-tip combo and it comes with two breadsticks and a salad. Next time, I'd just go for their 1/4 chicken and tri-tip combo because it was a lot of food for just me. I had to take some home because I couldn't finish it all. I think the portion size reflects the price point well. The breadsticks and cartwheel salad are whatever. Nothing special or amazing. The salad isn't soaked in dressing, which is a plus. Boneless Chicken Breast (lemon butter): The chicken comes with skin on and tons of roasted sliced garlic. It's very moist and not bland at all. The lemon is noticeable, but not overpowering. But in combination with the tri-tip, it's very greasy. No joke, my meat came together on a platter that was soaked with a mix of juices and butter. I wish the extra liquid could have been strained out before I got it. Tri-tip (medium rare; pepper garlic): The slices are big and they give you a generous portion. It comes topped with gorgonzola butter. I didn't really taste any pepper and garlic was masked. But I really liked the cheese. It adds a ton of flavor, but avoid if you don't like blue cheese. The meat was tender and actually medium rare. Overall: I didn't have a lot of expectations for fast-casual tri-tip or chicken, but their meat is good for the price point. I ordered $140 worth of food.. primary tri tip ordered medium rare... after waiting outside in the heat for good amount of time and no yellow vest curbside attendant attempting to assist me I went inside to pick up my order... only to be met with disappointment. Both the whole tri tip and tri tip for two... which apparently is two toddlers based on the 6 tiny cuts... cooked well done. If I wanted burnt meat for my family's emergency lunch.... First time here, and it was quite tasty. I love roasted cauliflower, so I was intrigued to see "roasted cauliflower with meat sauce" on the menu as a pasta alternative. It was a little different than I expected (a lot of cheese and barely any meat), but that was ok. The cauliflower was sort of al dente, which is ok; I might have preferred it to be roasted just a little tad longer to be just a little bit softer, but I would still order it again. This was our first visit to this Stonefire Grill location. We arrived at high noon, and the place was packed. I was a little concerned, due to the fact that we were on a tight schedule as always. As a result of the staff's efficiency, our wait in line to order was very reasonable. While waiting in line to order, a staff member approached, asked us for our names, and then placed a placard at a table.......pretty awesome. I am sure we have all been to an eatery where you order your food and then look for a table, which can be frustrating. This certainly was not the case at Stonefire Grill. Not surprisingly, I went overboard while ordering. I ordered a large macaroni and cheese, a Greek salad, BBQ chicken, and a tri tip meal that came with garlic (real garlic) mashed potatoes. Moments later, I was greeted by a staff member with a Jolly Green Giant portion of macaroni and cheese. I did not realize how large a large really was. I made the best of it and dug in. First things first...bring a jacket if you are going to sit inside because they keep this place COLD! It sort of between fast food and sit down. You order at the counter then go choose a table. You have to get your own silverware and plates and drinks. Food is 3 stars but just barely... Really 2.5 stars. Will run you 12 bucks per person. For me personally the issues on this visit were the normally great breadsticks were very dry and had almost zero garlic/Parmesan on them... Maybe we got a bad batch. What a hidden jewel in Irvine! I found them when browsing on Yelp with a hungry stomach that was craving for bbq. I got there around 6-7 with my husband and we got surprised by how they work! It's actually like a Chipotle where you order first, pay, grab a seat and someone will bring your food to your table, basically everything else such as utensils or drink was self-served. The guy who took our order was pretty nice and informative, he even suggested us to do a secret combo option to get free salad and appetizers for less the price shown on the menu. We got 1 pound of tri tip steak, one ceasar salad, one garlic mash potatoes and got some free breadsticks as part of the combo meal. My receipt was around $24 ish and the meal was super plentiful for just the two of us. We got our trip tip medium rare (yes you can choose how your steak cooked). It was very juicy and the outer skin of the steak was glazed with some kind of sweet sauce which when you bite into, slowly seep into your tongue and was so delicious. Mash potatoes were cooked pretty well, still lukewarm when we got it. I've eaten at various Stonefire locations from time to time, and they all have good consistent quality food. They don't have traditional waitress service, so you order from the front and they bring your food direct to your table. This actually works out well as their system of service is quite efficient. They have a wide variety of items to choose from. One item that I especially like is the Lemon and Garlic chicken, which is very tangy and delicious. The one and only drawback of the Stonefire's is that they can get kind of crowded, and when they do they can also be quite noisy. Try to go there at an off hour if you can. read more

Came here on a Friday night and it definitely was a new experience. You order at the front where there is a brightly illuminated menus hanging overhead. They give you a numbered GPS, so that when your food is ready, the food runners take your meal to your table. The menu has a lot of options and you look at the menu before approaching the register. The type of food they offer here is barbecue, pizza, and sandwiches. My family and I decided on ordering individual grill combos: Chicken and Ribs. The chicken breast which was really juicy and had a nice char of barbecue. The ribs were on point and feel off the bone with every bite. I'm a big sauce guy so I grabbed extra barbecue sauce to dip my proteins in. This place was nice and they even had beer and wine. I really hoped they had a full bar, but beer and wine is just fine. It like the Denny's of BBQ. You remember it being okay at one point, but now it gets more disappointing with each visit. Seriously, the best thing on the menu was the pulled pork sandwich, even though the sauce was always too sweet. It's not on the menu anymore, and everything else is overpriced and mediocre quality. Stopped in for lunch the other day prior to a Dr. appointment. I had a regular size (not petite) Southwest salad which had a choice of quinoa, mesquite grilled chicken or tri tip with mixed greens, roasted corn, red peppers, avocado, red onion, tomato, red cabbage, pepitas, tortilla strips, Feta cheese, and a Chili Lime Vinaigrette. I went with mesquite grilled chicken and went sans Feta/tortilla strips since gestational diabetes makes me literally no fun. The salad came out in a big bowl that I happily scooped onto my plate. It was terrific and I had about half of it left when I was done so I would say this is such a great value. There are little stations set up where you can grab a to-go box and I easily wrapped up my leftovers with no fuss. Also, I think chicken was a great choice. The meat was flavorful and didn't taste previously frozen...perhaps next time I'll mix it up with tri tip. Stonefire Grill reminds me of a Panera or anywhere that you can get "faster food". Just had take-out from Stonefire Grill over the wknd... Pesto pasta - this was really good. Simple, but done well. Not too oily and just the right amount of pesto. Garlic mashed potatoes - decent, no complaints Half roast chicken - UNDERCOOKED. This was extremely off putting, not to mention unsafe. We ordered a family pack that included bread sticks, salad, chicken, and pizza. Everything was delicious. However, I'll add that they use a lot of garlic so if you love garlic you'll love it here. We ordered the garlic lemon chicken and there were big pieces of garlic in every crevice of the chicken. I had to pick some out because as much I like garlic, I had to be considerate of my coworkers the next day. Also, there is a lot of garlic in the Caesar salad dressing. Also, the value is great. The past few times that we have gone to take Stonefire to go, it has been lackluster. We ate at the restaurant a few months ago for a birthday dinner and got food poisoning(I'm pretty sure it was the salad because my youngest was the only one who didn't get it and he was the only one not sick). I really love the salads and pasta but the most recent to go order(4/2), they did not add salt to pasta making the pesto bland and flavorless. We always order carrot cake every time we go and this time the carrot cake was not made properly. It was mushy and did not seem to have all the ingredients in it as it was not sweet and the cake itself was lacking in spices. I love stonefire grill bc it's family style. The pasta is always al dente. And the portions are huge! I believe the sizes are petite, small, and large? A small pasta can be shared btwn 2-3 people. My favorite is the pesto pasta. The mash potato is okay i thought it dry. The tri trip is good and has a hint of smoked BBQ. I brought home the Caesar salad and ate it for lunch the next day. This place is your basic bbq lunch place with pizza and Italian food if you want. I didn't try the pizza or pasta so I can't comment on that. However, the chicken was too dry. The ribs were just bones. I feel like I just got a rack of bones on my plate. The tri tip was the best part of the meal. It wasn't too chewy, and it was pretty tender. Would I come back again? I can't say yes, because there's so many more good food in this plaza. Maybe I'll try their pizza, it looks good. Overall, it's your average meal with nothing too memorable. I came here tonight because it is my son's favorite restaurant. He loves the pizza as well as the Mac and Cheese. The food is always consistent and the price is great. It's always clean and for the most of the time we get good service. This evening I came in with 2 kids and was sitting at a booth trying to entertain the 2 while making sure they both ate their food. One of the kids was only 2 and I was babysitting for the whole day so was learning what she would and would not eat. I have been stressed all week and have been emotionally exhausted. Then enters Zel who I have to say is one of the best employees at this establishment. She was friendly, warm and did extra to make our night wonderful. I watched her as she was constantly working and keeping everyone happy with her smile and service. Was really looking forward to last night's visit to Stonefire Grill. They really overall have good food. But it just seems restaurants are really going downhill. Raising prices and the food just not as good. I usually order the tri tip which as long as I order and eat it there is great But I really wanted baby back ribs. Was sooo disappointed. Recently had food delivered from here and it was quite a large portion of food. We ordered the chicken and ribs for 2, which included, a half rack of ribs, half a chicken, a (not so) petite salad, and 4 breadsticks for $22! The ribs were okay. It wasn't falling off the bone but their marinade was tasty. We ordered the garlic lemon chicken and that was delicious! The salad was just okay. It had beans, lettuce, cheese, and some other items that was just fine with the dressing. The breadsticks were good though but it's hard to go wrong with fresh baked breadsticks covered in cheese! Stonefire grill has been a go to place for my colleagues and I since it can accomodate big groups and has a good variety of food. Their salads come in different sizes and the prices are really good comparing to other places. You can also find the nutritional menu online to exactly see how much calorie, fat, protein and etc are in each of their items. YUM! I took my recycling money and bought my husband and I dinner at Stonefire Grill. We both had a craving for some hard core meat. We both ordered the Petite Tri Tip; he chose the BBQ selection and I chose the butter garlic. We shared the sides of Garlic mashed potatoes and the garden salad. Our meal also included 2 breadsticks each. At first sight, I was a little disappointed with the portions of the Tri Tip but once we finished all of the other items i realized it was the perfect amount. The taste and flavor of both Tri tip's were great, nice and tender as well. The garden salad was fresh and crunchy and large enough to be shared. The garlic mashed potatoes were amazing, Best I've ever had. And those breadsticks, YUMMY. The only negative comment I had was the temperature of the hot items were stone cold, easily rectified with a microwave. I guess with inflation all portions shrunk by about 50%. But the worst part for us was the pickup process. We stood around with multiple staff (in red tshirt) and 2 leads (in blue shirt), walked past us multiple times, made eye contact but completely ignored us for about 10 minutes at the pickup counter. Then once someone came to help us, it took another 6-8 minutes to complete the pickup. By the time we received our orders, our food was cold, pizza was completely cold and hard. Pretty bummed out by this location. I don't know if stonefire is a chain or not but the one by my house is far better. Ordered a tri tip chopped salad to go as it's my favorite thing on the menu. They forgot the dressing for the salad, the chips on it were different than usual and stale, the lettuce was a different kind than usual. On top of that I'm finding stringy fibers of something in my food in every few bites that I'm taking. If you were out of things or doing something different you should inform customers while they're ordering. Pretty unacceptable. read more

I don't think this place uses water filter or they need to upgrade their filtration system. Their water from the vending machines tasted like recycled water. 1 star for the people taking orders. Truly one of my favourite restaurants! My husband and I have a Christmas party every year for about 100 people and I always use Stonefire for the catering, everyone seems to love it! This place is awesome. Whenever I'm unsure about where to eat, this is my go to. I can never go wrong with that decision. We usually get the petite pesto pasta, with a petite chicken and try tip combo. The combo comes with a side or salad and two breadsticks. This meal is enough to fill two people up. During this visit, I decided to try the Mac and cheese instead of the pasta, and I was not disappointed. It was delicious. I ordered a blueberry cheesecake to-go so I could eat at home and enjoy it over the next two days. The only thing that I would want them to improve on is consistency. I've been here multiple times, and only faced a consistency problem twice. Once, the pesto pasta had no flavor, but the staff immediately took care of the problem. The second time was the tri tip. It was cut differently from all the other times I came here, and tasted/ looked like brisket. I asked the staff and they assured me it was tri tip because they don't served brisket.
