At first glance, I thought this place was some fancy steak/grill restaurant. I was wrong..this place is affordable! After checking out its website, my mouth started to salivate from the pictures. So of course I got in my car and headed over for some dinner. Glad I did because I do not regret it at all! Items I've tried: - Mesquite BBQ Tri-tip - DELICIOUS *drool* the meat was cooked to perfection. Slightly pink in the center, tender and moist. Can be sliced through with one single knife swipe. The BBQ sauce was tangy and sweet, giving it just the right amount of flavor. - Garlic Pepper Tri-tip - Average. Meat was cooked fine but missing the flavor spark. Couldn't really taste the garlic or the pepper. - Lemon Chicken - Average. Chicken was a little on the drier side and not enough flavor. - Garlic Mashed Potatoes - A little above average. Loads of garlic flavor and doesn't taste all gritty like the ones you make from the box. - Breadsticks - Average. Flavor-wise, it was good. But not enough outer crunch and inner softness that I would have expected and liked. Overall, I will definitely be back soon. The BBQ tri-tip is to die for if you don't want to break the bank. Price is decent and the meat packs a punch of flavor. The staff was nice and friendly. Food came out at a reasonable time. It's really hard to find a restaurant that cooks meat to perfection (unless you want to empty your paycheck on one meal) but this place does it! read more

This is a good place for a quick work lunch. They bring the food out-POW!-fast so coming hungry is no issue. Nice menu selection to pick off. You order at the register and the staff brings your order to your table (they use a numbering system). It gets uber busy around lunch (no recession in the OC man!), but you can always get in and get to eating. read more

I always have a great experience here. Staff is super friendly, service is very quick. They even off you a water cup if you're just waiting for to go orders. :) It's a small touch, but it goes a long way. The food is abundant and delicious. If you haven't tried the spinach salad, you're missing out! The avocado and chicken portions for a small salad are super generous. My only complaint is that it's too busy during lunch! read more

Always come when visiting a particular friend in Irvine. Great place for salad, pizza, and even meat. It's kind of "family style" - get a pizza and salad to share, for example. I love that the sizes are very customizable. It's pretty casual - you order at the front and they bring the food to your table. I like that you can grab a box and pack up your own leftovers (of which there should be plenty). Also, I've done take-out and the salad was very well packed, everything ready pretty quickly. I actually really like their pizzas here, really saucy and super stringy cheese and a nice fluffy but crisp crust. Its the way I like my pizzas to be, but I know everybody has their own preferences with pizza. Their BBQ to me is mediocre, its not gross or bad, and in fact I'd be stoked if someone took me here. During a recent get together with friends we served the restaurant's Crowd Pleasers meal (enough for 6 or more) and it was a big hit. The filling meal consisted of of a whole chicken (mesquite BBQ) , tri tip, salad, bread sticks, and coleslaw and mashed potatoes. Everyone said the food was tasty and I was happy because the portions were generous and the price was right (plus I didn't have to cook-yay!). The staff was very good about explaining how long to leave it in the over before the guests arrived and about how to put everything together. The food here never disappoints. I've been going here for 2-3 years, but I'm only writing a review now because of my visit this past Friday. We went here during our lunch break and I already knew what I wanted: tri-tip and pesto pasta. I asked the cashier if they had any lunch combo with those two items. She said no, but that I should try the pesto pasta with bbq tri-tip. I didn't know this existed, but I was extremely excited and practically salivating at the thought. And yes, it was delicious. The mix of flavors was great. Thanks to the cool cashier for suggesting this. Naturally I also got two breadsticks because their breadsticks are so freaken good. Their caesar salad is good too. I've also had the Tomesto pasta and pepper garlic tri tip--both good as well. I told my bf about the pesto with tri-tip and then I ended up back at Stonefire a day after on Saturday (Pasadena location this time). I've come here for my Senior Prom, the rehearsal dinner for my wedding and many other times besides that. I have never heard of anyone not truly enjoying the food that they ordered! Whether it be salmon, tri tip, chicken, pizza, salads, everything is always top notch. I expect to eventually have a hick up but it hasn't happened. This is an awesome restaurant I came over to get some gift cards for my family for Christmas the restaurant was not open it was 10 in the morning and they're opening hours are 11 I asked one of the employees standing outside heading in to work to see if I could speak with the manager she went ask and mr. Ordered their Stimulus Meal through Postmates, that comes with a Pizza. However the Pizza didn't come with the rest of the food, but rather was dropped off an hour later separately, with the pizza being frigid, disgusting, and inedible. We catered Stonefire for our wedding last May (they did an amazing job then) and we finally got to come get a meal here tonight with our gift card we got from using the catering service. We were so excited because our wedding day was a blur and we barely remember the food, and we were not disappointed tonight! I used to come here all the time. Their quality has gone down, today I had a takeout order and it was beyond gross. The lemon garlic chicken tasted v different than the usual and I am pretty sure the chicken they used was spoiled. The breadstick and ceasar salad were fine but chicken was bad. I am guessing they had marinated a bunch of chicken or something before the covid 19 closures and were discarding old inventory. Stay away from this restaurant until this fiasco is over. read more

I go to Stonefire about once a month with friends from work. Great place. Spacious with great food and large portions. I'm a pretty big eater but I get the smaller portions usually. My favorite is the tri tip with caesar salad. The breadsticks are really good too. read more

Haven't been here on forever! Usually would goto the fountain valley location but I wanted to give Irvine a try. Sam provided impeccable service, his demeanor and attentiveness was greatly appreciated during the ordering process. We had multiple servers checking on us through out our meal, Sam interacted with my daughter and it was the sweetest thing. The tri-tip was flavorful and the salad filled with yummy fresh goodness! Wanted to give one star for today but with my last 8 yrs experience giving one extra. Ordered caesar salad along with other items. Being vegetarian we make sure there is no meat items. When reached home with take out , to our surprise salad had a lot of grilled chicken. Spoiled our lunch completely that too on Easter. When called to discuss this, first my call was dropped as soon as I said I need manager to speak to. In 2nd attempt I was able to speak to manager. As soon I mentioned order was placed online, he said "you placed order online so not our fault". When I mentioned that I made sure there is not meat then he started looking up for order in system. It was very clear, adding any meat has extra cost which my order dint even have. Then only I was offered replacement order or refund. Got refund btw so that is good. My main concern is how this whole situation was handled. First who received my call tried to pin it on me and same thing manager did. I got the pulled pork sandwich with a side of beans and quinoa salad. The pulled pork was good, but could have been slow cooked a little longer, and the French roll was a little stale. The baked beans needed flavor so I added bbq sauce, and quinoa wasn't good. It had a very strange herb taste with nothing else in it. A solid dinner place for a reasonable price. However because you don't have a waiter, everytime you want something, you need to get up and get it or order it. There are random servers making rounds, but not very often. The wine was pretty reasonably priced, though you really have to look for the menu (near the door). The salad portion size was good, and quality/taste was average. The garlic mashed potatoes and breadsticks were good, but not incredible as others on yelp has mentioned. Perhaps my expectations were a bit too high reading all these reviews. The Allison's Creation pizza was great, the flavors came through well. I had given this place 1 star previously. Here's why... We went this past Sunday and it was terribly busy. We ended up sitting outside rather than waiting 20 minutes for seats. Now, all of us at our table got our food except for one. We talked and ate, while he waited and waited. Now, we asked the waiter that brought our food about his food (ONE TIME), I asked my other friend to go ask somebody (TWO TIMES), and after waiting almost an hour I walked up to the kitchen and made a lil scene (THREE TIMES). I was irate on behalf of my friend. So, I gave a pretty scathing review when I got home. Within 24 hours, Justin from Stonefire Grill responded to my review. He asked me if he could have my number to talk things over. I responded and talked with him today. He heard my story, was very apologetic, promised that this would be used as a teaching tool for Stonefire employees, and got my address to comp me some free meals. I respect the professional courtesy! People mess up & people aren't perfect. But it definitely helps when people realize those mistakes and make amends! Especially if those amends mend into my tummy! Came in sorta around 9.40pm friday night. Was starving and wanted to try things other than the stimulus package. this is what i ordered: 1/2 chicken al la carte: decent portion but it wasn't pretty hot or warm ish, probably closing time? Pasta: meat sauce kind: warm ish but pasta wasn't the best and meat was okay. i was shocked because i had better exp here before. Asian salad: great salad portion but the price wasn't worth it. its a good salad and taste great, however the chicken is a little bland came in, ordered, went to get some forks and knifes.. it was PUT away. really now. there was at least a good 15+ people here and the forks and knifes are put away. and the AC was on to full blast, its night time 9pm, they should have lowered it, my friend had to go to her car to grab a couple of jackets. total came to around 32ish i wish they had the stimulus package that you can mix or play around. more options overall i was not the happiest camper here despite coming here at least twice a month. read more

This place is great. You order your food at the registers in the front and they'll bring it to your table. I've been here about five times and each time has been enjoyable. The food is good, especially if you're in the mood for some good meat (the tri-tip is good), garlic mashed potatoes and bread sticks. The number one thing I like about this place is the atmosphere. You can bring a group of friends and not worry about splitting the bill. When I eat here we always eat family style so its a fun time eating a little bit of everything and sharing food with your party. Last time I was here, we got something called the stimulus package. Stonefire you never let me down! I love coming here every time I'm in Irvine. I always get the tri tip with Gorgonzola butter, the pesto pasta, breadsticks, and southwestern salad. I have never had a bad experience here the food is always great and the prices are more than fair. You can easily feed a party of 5-6 for under 60.00. I love that everything is family style it usually leads to a great time and lots of sharing. I am sad there aren't more Stonefires around especially in the bay area. Maybe one day! read more

Stonefire Grill does what it does perfectly! Last Saturday we had a small dinner party and ordered the tri-trip, tri-tip chopped salad, mashed potatoes and breadsticks. Ordered over the phone and everything was cooked and put together perfectly, ready to pick up at the allotted time. Their food was high quality and appreciated by all. Still in heaven, a week later I needed to order pizza for work (graveyard shift). Ordered at 11am for 8:30pm pick up. (1) Mesquite BBQ pizza (half chicken, half tri-tip) with fresh cilantro, it was wonderful (2) The Works pizza, also pleased the crowd at work (3) Mesquite Grilled Veggie pizza for the non-meat eaters, reportedly PERFECT, and (4) Cheeseless Grilled Veggie pizza for "those people," also reportedly outstanding. Add to that breadsticks which more than one co-worker felt was da bomb. Everything was hot out of the oven an ready for pick up when I arrived at 8:30pm. The pizza outclassed the usual we get from Domino's, Pizza Hut, Costco and varous other chains. Worth the slightly higher cost. Couldn't ask for better or more convenient service! Service and food is always great! Garlic tri tip is where it's at. Bread sticks and salads are always a hit too. They're not skimpy on their portions either. We like to get the secret stimulus package when ordering takeout. Only wish they didn't charge for marinara sauce for the breadsticks... It's like charging for Ah jus for a pastrami dip. This place is the best for BIG groups! We love coming back to this place time and time again. The patio sitting works great for when we dine with my mother in law and her guide dog or our 94 yr old grampy! We like the stimulus package, salad, meat (chicken, ribs, tritip), pizza and breadsticks for $40. If you want something different my wife loves the shrimp with quinoa, I like the salmon, my kid likes his rack of ribs and then there's the chicken tortilla soup. They have the best salad here too... Nothing crazy about it but somehow here it tastes better! To finish it right their cheesecake is just delicious. This place does everything great... Very few issues in the many times we've eaten here... And there is always a manager making the rounds making sure everything is great. For such an affordable place they have very high standards! Bright & Clean I don't like giving reviews unless I have had the experience to visit eating establishments more than once. Stonefire Grill was a good meal overall. The environment is very much a " Chain Restaurant" type which I'm not to fond of. The tri tip was good.. I've had way better though but for the price it was good. The lemon garlic half chicken is really good and the price is worth it when you order it ala cart. They cook the chicken perfectly and the meat just comes right off the bone. The Salads are OK to pretty good and the best way to do it is order the bigger salads so you can split with family.. There are a few other menu items I still need to try however the half and whole chicken with the lemon garlic are really good. I like this place becuase there are a few ways I can order and stay on my no carb diet. This is great restaurant for the Irvine area and keeps it easy for the most part. They might not come to check on you after you get you food but overall it's a good place read more

I was pleasantly surprised with Stonefire overall. We ordered the two styles of tri tip and really enjoyed the Mesquite version. The garlic butter is also very good and next time I will ask for that on the side to go with the Mesquite instead of the traditional Pepper Garlic tri tip. For sides the garlic mashed potatoes are by far the way to go. On the negative the cowboy beans left something to be desired. I was looking forward to some bbq baked beans but was let down as they are basically baked beans in a chili base which didn't do anything for me. In over 10 ounces of meat I found one inedible piece that wasn't up to standards. The service was good, almost too good. While waiting in line to order our table was called and one of the managers pointed it out for us...three times. He called my name each time, acknowledged me and pointed out the table in a span of 2 minutes. I guess I can't fault a guy for that. read more

I came here for pizza I know crazy right. It want until I got there that I realized they are actually known for chicken and tri-tip. Well I ordered the pizza anyway (even though the waitor basically urged me not to, but I also ordered the tri-tip. Well the pizza was OK nothing special, but edible I guess.
