Place has gone down. 2 napkins left at the plate area. No ice tea, i had to ask the host to make it. My salad first and my guest food 10 minutes later. Food on the floor, no one cleans up. Ordered food to go and waited 20 minutes. Walked up to the order area and the only thing they said was, we could not find u. We were at the same place we ate. Place was not busy and pretty disappointed and the order takers just hanging out looking lost and checking there phones. That's what happens in America now. I might as well have V.I.P written on my forehead because that's exactly how I'm always treated here. You would think it's a high end place with high end prices but their Specials are GREAT. Staff is Young and Very Professional, Friendly and Energetic. Food is Always Amazing. Service is Very FAST, by the time I filled up my drink and washed my hands, my salad and breadsticks were already waiting for me. Tri-Tip perfect as always and I ordered The Petit Mac and Cheese, ended up with a bigger size because it only took a few more minutes to bring out which was fine by me. We come to Stonefire often because my Dad loves it! The atmosphere is warm & homey. Weekends you've got to come early to grab a decent table. The servers are friendly and you order at the counter so you don't need to pay tip unless you feel like it. I usually opt for their Petite size Border Salad with Tri-Tip (the lime-dressing is so good!) but around Thanksgiving time they had this awesome lunch special featuring a Mexican Cesar Wrap that was really amazing! Wish it was around all of the time. The kids pizza, Mac-N-Cheese & Quesadillas are all good. Love their Garlic Mashed Potatoes & breadsticks. One time I need to go for the pesto sauce pasta because I've seen it at other's tables & it sure Looks tasty! read more

I will forever be grateful to this restaurant - and specifically to the manager Ryan.  My friend had been ordering food to her father's nurses as he was terminally ill, and has now passed away.  At this crazy time in the world, nurses can use the love and the yummy food from Stonefire.  Unfortunately, due to a DoorDash mixup with a terrible driver, the food was never delivered.  When my friend called Stonefire the next day to see if she could reorder the meal - assuming she would have to pay for it - Ryan took care of the whole situation.  More than the food, was his care for my dear friend, listening to her situation, giving her a hug when she needed it, and taking care of her not only as a business but as a fellow human.  She said specifically, "the love and compassion that I needed right before I was going to say goodbye to my dad at the hospital was the most beautiful, honest, true, sympathetic thing I've ever experienced."  Thank you, Ryan.  You rock. Her dad was as amazing of a soul as you are and I wish you could have met him. read more

Stonefire Grill catered our May 4th, 2013 wedding, at Paramount Ranch. Our guests raved over the food! They are still raving over it :-) As the bride, and I speak for my groom, I just wish we could've actually eaten it! The catering department is lovely, and super efficient. Full of great suggestions! (Thank you Anna G.!) My only non-5-star gripe was that they only provide disposable plates, and that forced me to purchase 150 white glass dinner plates from the 99 cents store. One more stress I didn't need! However, i would definitely do it all over again! Now if only my husband, and I could get a consolation meal, for truly missing out :-) read more

We are always ordering here when we have lunch with reps at work. It's very popular for the quality of the food and the health. It's really good and I just love the Asian chicken salad. I always want to order something like a sandwich because those are too good, but the Asian chicken salad is like a drug or something! The tortilla soup is freaking good here too and so are the bread sticks. It's delicious and well worth eating here often. I was driving down Thousand Oaks Blvd and a strong smell of BBQ immediately filled my entire car. I gotta try this place! The style of this resturant is unique in its own way. You walk in, order your food from a menu and a few cashiers kindly waiting to take your order, then you are seated. Some amazing complimentary bread sticks are brought to your table from your waiter/waitress. Food comes out in an appropriate timely manner considering I ordered tri-tip. WOW is all I can say. COOKED TO PERFECTION! Every bite was juicy and not a single piece of fat. -- If you are looking for some good bbq with the family, this IS the place. Update on previous review. The restaurant/food is still wonderful. Our biggest issues was with the catering portion. The help provided, the servers did not empty trash as was in the agreement, and scraped plates into a bucket of water rather than the trash and then dousing them in the water bucket. They couldn't wait to get out of there. I was sadly disappointed that they were doing their work to the bare minimum to get out as soon as possible, even though we paid the extra rinsing /clean up costs. I would still recommend for catering, but stay diligent with who you have there with the clean up portion. read more

After ordering for in house dining, locate the area with plates & napkins, grab what you need, then get your table. Runners bring your food. Service was quick & my salad actually came before the main course. I ordered chicken breast with lemon garlic sauce and tri tip. Wonderfully juicy and tender, perfectly cooked. My husband ordered 1/4 chicken and baby backs, again perfectly cooked. Down side was that both plates were at room temp. Not a major flaw though. Atmosphere was great, fireside seating inside, as well as fires outside which can be seen through the windows. Very comfortable & relaxing, especially for what might be considered fast food. It might be a first job for some so I'm giving that a break.. that being said I had a pick up order on Thursday and asked for the tempature on the tritip to be medium and it was well done. When j told the girl she was more then willing to make my order right. I didn't want to waste the meat by being picky and I was in a hurry so I didn't bother to change it. The food tasted great so I'll defiantly be back. Just a heads up if you go to this establishment just ask them to read back your order twice so they get it right. My go to place for picking up food when people come over and I don't want to cook! Great value for what you get! I had 12 people over on the weekend and it was a way better price value to purchase two of the Crowd Pleasers than to buy everything in the market and cook it myself! I went there yesterday with my family after visiting underwood farms and I will never return to any of their establishments. I ordered a steak and cheese sandwich, basket of breadsticks to share and mashed potatoes. All of these warm items were about cold. Every bit was gross to eat due to it being cold. The staff was attentive. The place was nice in a nice neighborhood but I go there for your food. I am not a food snob but you cant serve hot food cold. Went with a mid-size group we all milled around at the cash registers trying to figure out the system, read the menu and order. Of course, other patrons came in and joined in the milling crowd. Everyone was pretty laid back so that experience wasn't negative. Hats off to the staff for making it all work. A very nice beer selection, wine is an afterthought and the sodas are Pepsi brand only. Strike one. So we got our tables lined up and sat down, to bare tables. The whole place was filled with bare tables. Clue: get your own utensils, napkins, plates and sodas. That's a neutral. The food started arriving and it looked like we were feeding an army. LARGE portions here folks. We had ordered an assortment for all tastes. Pros: quinoa, I love the stuff. The food looked appetizing, almost like the pictures. Staff; friendly, accommodating and not intrusive. The salmon was tasty, the ribs were well cooked, lots of salad, quinoa ( did I say I really like it?), the chicken was good, the roasted veggies had appeal and the penne pastas appeared to have merit. The shrimp meal had pan fried garlic all over it, yum. Cons: salt,salt, more salt and then salt on the table. The salads appeared as if they had gone through a salad shredder. Everything, I mean everything was ittsy bittsy. You couldn't stick it with a fork, nor could you get some on your fork. All the dressings and sauces tasted industrial, and salty. One of the pasta dishes came to the table cold and dried out. When we asked for a warm dish, the same dish was returned warm, but even more dried out. My veggie eater left half the plate of grilled veggies. He normally eats everything on the table that is green. The bread sticks, I've had better. Summary: too much food. It broke my heart to throw away the amount of food we did. Too much salt. That would break anyone's heart health wise. The dishes are appetizing but industrial in taste. The penne with pesto would be a "go to" dish. I do realize this is chain. For those that eat to live, it is an ok place. For those the live to eat, take a pass. read more

I have been coming here since they opened. Best, by far, and everything I have had on the menu is wonderful! I do have to mention they have the best carrot cake I have ever had in a restaurant. It is always busy but they get the food to you quickly. When you dine-in you seat yourself and get your own napkins, plates, flatware and your food order is brought to your table. They have a wonderful atmosphere and outside patio seating. A big shout out to Jacob and the entire crew at the Westlake location. Stonefire is absolutely fantastic. They well deserve five stars. For one, the customer service is outstanding. They are always super friendly, ready to help and solve any problems. The food is absolutely delicious. All the BBQ items, sides are exceptional. Great taste, great quality. The only department I would say they lack in is their sandwiches (except the chicken pesto which is great) all the other ones are sub-par and a bit underwhelming. I ordered the Spinach Salad with Grilled Chicken. My first thought was, "that took waaaay to short of time to grill chicken." It was ready within 3-4 minutes of ordering. I asked the person preparing the salad, if the chicken was grilled, as advertised. She quickly said yes and handed me the salad. As I opened it, I saw the chicken was not grilled and cooked to a medium temperature, ie pink inside. Furthermore the chicken was cold. As I looked around the salad, I saw that the spinach looked like it had been sitting in the salad container for a few days. I could easily tell it was made yesterday or early this morning. Don't order the Spinach Salad to go. I think I will order it dine in next time then ask for a to go box. I didn't go back and ask for a new one. I have always enjoyed the Stonefire BBQ salad with Tri-tip, and wanted to try something different this time. I honestly feel like it was a pre-packaged salad sitting in a refrigerator waiting for a home. read more

Stopped here on the way home from the day in wine country...we were all tired and none of us were hungry, but there was so much traffic on the freeway, so we stopped in to grab a bite to eat and wait it out. There was no line, and we were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. We ordered a combo meal and at the front and went to sit down. It only took a few minutes for them to bring out our salad...quick service! The Caesar salad was basic but very delicious. We were working through our salads when they brought out breadsticks and our chicken and tri-tip. Everything tasted so good! None of us were hungry, but we still managed to eat most of the food. I've been in Thousand Oaks since long before Stonefire Grill was here, and I've eaten here many times over the years, and I just can't say the same good things about it as others. To start, simply, it just doesn't compare to Wood Ranch. I would choose Wood Ranch any day over Stonefire. Not only do I think the food is much better, but the value is much much better at Wood Ranch as well. Lately I've given Stonefire Grill some extra chances because it's location is convenient for me to pick up dinner after my kids' music lessons. But I just don't think we will be back any more. Not too long ago I was sent a gift card from Corporate because of the odd way their management had handled my take-out issue (the girl I spoke with at Corporate was great). So a few weeks later I gave them another shot and our experience and meal wasn't bad - not great, but not bad. So last night I decided to pick up a pesto pasta since my boys LOVE it, but decided to add chicken to it this time so they get some protein. When I picked it up I noticed their weren't any bread sticks, which I just assumed came with the pasta because I've somehow always ended up with bread sticks even though I've never added them to my order. When I walked back up to the counter to order a couple, a man I'm assuming was a manager based on his attire, was very nice and got us a a few. But when I got home and went to serve the pasta, I immediately noticed a burnt smell. The chicken was clearly charred on one side, and had been so hastily cut. It seriously looked like someone picked up a knife, closed their eyes, started hacking at it, and then threw it on our pasta. Some pieces were huge chunks with other chunks hanging on because it wasn't cut through; and some pieces were tiny. I had to pick pieces out to cut them better, and decided to serve it burnt since I did want (and paid for) chicken after all... I figured the pesto sauce would coat the chicken and it wouldn't taste burnt. My family doesn't mind bbq char, we bbq chicken every single Sunday, and we use bbq sauce and teriyaki so we are used to char on our chicken. But I have no idea what this was supposed to be.. there was NOTHING on this chicken, not even salt and pepper. It would have been so bland, had it not tasted heavily burnt. I forced my older son to eat it and then felt bad when my younger son literally started gagging and spit it back into his pasta. Anyways, my rant is simply because after years of mediocre to sub par experiences, I just can't come back. To make my long story short, I think their tri tip is okay; their bread sticks taste great but are disgustingly oily; their bbq chicken salad is the worst I've had anywhere; pesto pasta is good (except with nasty burnt chicken); and their customer service is spotty. I wish I could support a family owned, local business - and I wanted to - but it's just not cutting it for us. read more
