Initially I was worried I wasn't going to have a good experience because the restaurant was fairly busy, little did I know I was going to have the best experience that I've ever had at a restaurant. What really made me happy was how attentive my server Antonio was, not only was he quick on his feet and extremely polite, he would bring me everything I needed within 60 seconds. Not only was he attentive to me, he also juggled about 7 or 8 other tables and guests at the same time. I ordered the Spinach Salad with Grilled Chicken. My first thought was, "that took waaaay to short of time to grill chicken." It was ready within 3-4 minutes of ordering. I asked the person preparing the salad, if the chicken was grilled, as advertised. She quickly said yes and handed me the salad. As I opened it, I saw the chicken was not grilled and cooked to a medium temperature, ie pink inside. Furthermore the chicken was cold. As I looked around the salad, I saw that the spinach looked like it had been sitting in the salad container for a few days. I could easily tell it was made yesterday or early this morning. Don't order the Spinach Salad to go. I think I will order it dine in next time then ask for a to go box. I didn't go back and ask for a new one. I have always enjoyed the Stonefire BBQ salad with Tri-tip, and wanted to try something different this time. It was my first time dining at Stone Fire Grill, from when I walked in to order the staff were patient to break the menu down and what favorites are on the menu... Once you get past the fact there's no table service (order/pay upon arrival) this is a pretty neat place. Decent amount of parking in the strip mall. Good food, friendly employees. Prices are reasonable. I had the babyback ribs which were good (but not great). My wife gets the tri-tip steak which is very good. The mashed potatoes are pretty popular but I didn't find them exceptional. Overall, Stonefire is a very popular takeout restaurant for a reason: the food is good, but the ambiance and lack of table service makes it better at home. 4 stars overall. read more

I tried Stonehouse grill several years ago shortly after it opened and was disappointed buy the concept, quasi fast food, and mediocre at best food. I decided to try again given the many good reviews and have not revised my opinion. I am at a loss to understand why the praise. First the good. The employees were very pleasant and courteous. The prices are very low, but the quality of the food was equally low Now to the disappointments. The check in system is an instant bottleneck at busy times as groups decide on their orders. I ordered Ahi and Arugula. The plate was mounded with arugula, much of it wilted. The dressing was lemony but without character. The ahi was poor--neither seared or fresh. I've been to this location a couple times now. While I would never chose to go here(both times I was invited), I have never left disappointed. The food is pretty decent, I like the Tri tip, lemon chicken, and mashed potatoes. Not so much a fan of the ribs. I think I'm just not really crazy about the ordering and then finding a seat, and not really having a server, per say. The quality of food merits a sit down restaurant with someone serving you. Very young staff at the register, who although very friendly and welcoming, couldn't answer some fairly basic questions that we had about the menu. All in all, I'd definitely return again, if invited, but like I said, it wouldn't be my first choice. Oo one more thing, the prices are very reasonable for the portions and quality! read more

Good food at reasonable prices. I think the best deals are when you go as a large group and split the family meals they offer. I love their chicken and ribs, equal to Wood Ranch. Great place. The food is flavorful and portion sizes are enormous. Tri-tip is especially good, though I still question putting garlic butter on beef- a tad strange for my taste, so I stick with the BBQ on that. Chicken is good, well-cooked and tender. The bread sticks are pretty amazing, if not a little overcooked. Pizzas are a little tasteless, but not inedible. The Caesar dressing is absolutely amazing- tangy and not too fishy-tasting. The atmosphere inside is one part Macaroni Grill, one part Wood Ranch, with a little fast food thrown in. I do not understand the ordering-seating system in there. It's as if you have to be assigned a table while standing in line before you are allowed to order. Then, after you order, you are merely pointed to a table with an assigned number. Very inefficient and and can be quite confusing. It would be better if the person assigning tables would just show you to your table. Everyone is usually very friendly though. Take out is really efficient and a great way to avoid that whole ordering-seating debacle. Call up, order and in ~15 minutes or so, your food is hot and waiting for you at pick up. In fact, the last time I picked up an order, there was no salad dressing in the bag, so the guy behind the counter immediately went to get a bigger cup than I would have originally gotten. All in all a really good place for fairly quick, quite tasty food. Whether you want pizza, salads, fish, or really good tri-tip, Stonefire is a great option for dine-in or to-go. read more

You order your food at the cashier and find a place to sit. The plates and utensils are also self serve. The value and taste were great. Their portions are super generous. Our party of 4 shared a medium grilled chicken salad ($13.99 I think), which was huge, a pound of tritip ($13.99), and a margherita pizza ($6.99 for 10 in). We also had a bottle of Bud all for about $42.00, and there was plenty of food. The tri tip was cooked perfectly, and everything else was delicious. The pizza was also crisp and smokey. They had a poor line system- they take your name and don't tell you where to stand. It's about 50 degrees in side because the have the air on and it's raining outside.... I really wanted to like this place, but the service makes me bump down my rating. Let me start off by saying that it is a very nice, well maintained, clean environment, not to mention interesting - you order up at the front, find a seat, and they have drinks where you fill up on your own. I ordered a bbq chicken pizza - it was very good. However when I asked for ranch, the waitress rudely turned her head as if I didn't exist. I asked three more times, and when I finally got it 15 minutes later my food was getting cold. As I also was getting up to refill my drink, the waitress (same one from before) shut the door leading inside right in my face - now I could understand if she was carrying food, but her hands were empty and I was right behind her before she practically slammed it in my face - not very good customer service. I think I would like to eat here again, as I very much enjoyed the food and setting, though the staff definitely needs to work on their people skills. 3/5 read more

The first time we got takeout from this restaurant, the food was very good. The second time, it was good but not as good as the first time. The Caesar salad I had enjoyed so much the first time had limp, bordering on spoiled lettuce, not at all crispy. I figured they were just having an off night. Tonight, when we ordered and got it home, the baby back ribs were undercooked and pink inside, the tri tip was tough and tasteless, and the garlic mashed potatoes were not really "mashed" at all. They still had large chunks of baked or boiled potato in them, some of which weren't even thoroughly cooked, and hardly any hint of actual garlic at all. The bread sticks were also limp, undercooked and doughy. The entire meal was a huge disappointment. We had to throw most of it in the garbage. It was almost entirely inedible. We only ate the bit we did, because we were just that hungry. The quality consistency has really gone downhill. We will not be going back. I am so sorry to report that I just cannot recommend it. read more

This is a 5 star restaurant for it's category, a self service, quick restaurant. I've been here many times and I am always impressed. They have a large selection of interesting salads which I love. It is hard to find places that make salads this good. I have tried several here and they are all fresh and delicious. I was impressed that the tri tip on the salad was so tender and flavorful. I originally thought that the salad the main attraction but then tried other things and they were good too. The grilled vegetable platter was good; I liked the pizza which I didn't expect to like and the platter of tri tip, chicken and salmon was delicious. The only thing I ordered and wasn't impressed with was the french dip sandwich. The food comes very quickly and the waiters always check to make sure everything is OK so for this kind of restaurant I'd call that excellent service. The ambiance is fine for a fast meal like this. I go to stone fire whenever I can. Always really good food, priced reasonably actually a wee on the low side, and the decorating is good. The place is always packed and what I like is that they have runners who when you are putting in your order will run around and find you a table. Now that is really smart. Also if you are on "Americas most wanted" or are a known fugitive from the law Do Not Go Here! The VCSD and LAPD eat here all the freaking time. But if you are a badge bunny (yes Amy I'm looking at you) this would be a great place to work to pick up an officer :). read more

Haha, still coming here when I visit...so far (been here a week and a half) we've had it like 3, maybe 4 times. I just love it since it's so customizable to make it healthy/low cal and fillig if you know what you're doing. Last night got the southwestern with kale (I LOVE how they chop the kale so finely). I still leave off the fatty stuff (no tortilla strips or cheese) and I do light dressing but my family love that stuff so they eat a lot of it for me. Always get it with chicken but bro in law gets the tri tip and it's excellent. We also get the healthy hybrid (yum if you like quinoa and their dressing for that is to die for. I really love Stonefire. Our company does takeout several times a month and on a good day, it's divine! However, I've found it really depends from day to day the quality of the food and the staff remembering to bag everything. Today, they forgot two sides of mashed potatoes and the meat was over cooked. The time before, they forgot the blueberry topping for our cheesecake and BBQ sauce for our tri-tip. The time before that the cheese in the mashed potatoes was burnt black. It is annoying but as long as you double check your bags before you leave, you should be good. I still come here for my meat and potatoes fix. Yumm! read more

I wanted to update my review because we went back and had a very pleasant meal. I ordered the Baby Back rib meal and was so disappointed. The place is super noisy, table was sticky, and the server had body odor that made my eyes water. The baby back ribs had no flavor, burnt on outside and undercooked. The garlic mashed potatoes were dry. The place is expensive for what you get. My meal was first to arrive and my husband's sandwich came 5 minutes later. I really don't get why this place stays busy. Horrible service, no hospitality. I ordered the cauliflower with meat sauce and it was so cold, as if they just took it out of the fridge. I asked them to make me a new one (which I typically don't do but it was that cold) once I got my new plate, nothing changed, it was still cold. Maybe that's how the dish was but it doesn't seem right to have it be cold. As far as the ordering before you get seated concept, it works well if it's done right, which it's not at this place unfortunately. I had high expectations for this place but it left me disappointed to the point where I just boxed my food and went home. I'm sure my microwave will be able to heat up my dish better then they could have. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more
