I don't recommend this location at all! Wait time extremely long, it was literally an hour before are food was served and there was only three parties in the restaurant. Our party of six, A party of three, and two people at the bar. When the food arrived it was completely cold and my Salmon was literally RAW when I cut it! My brother got sick to his stomach and left the restaurant. The manager Prince brought out another Salmon and was applauded at how raw it was! He immediately took it back and apologized. Needless to say we canceled our order. The Manager Julie was rude and not helpful at all, and was actually very rude. read more

I ate at Stoney River yesterday. I had one of the chicken dinners, Tuscan Chicken. It was salty, salty, salty! I was very disappointed in my meal. Even the scalloped potatoes were awful. We stopped in for a quick lunch. The time we arrived it was not busy. Great. Left husband to be seated since I needed to use the ladies room. Host had my husband wait until I returned to be seated. Strange but ok. Side note: This location is the cleanest the ladies room, floors, booths, and menus. Which I truly appreciate. Ordered drinks and an appetizer. Crab cakes took a significant amount of time to arrive to the table. Once the crab arrived the size could be compared to a hockey puck. Once you cut into it, the breading to crab ratio was concerning. Once you took your first bite that would be the last. It was soooo dry, it reminded us of a dry biscuit with a sprinkle of crab throughout. We will not order that dish again. Filet should have come out medium came out medium well which dried it out a bit. It would have great to be able to inform the server but we will touch on that in a second. Au gratin potatoes the flavor profile was perfect only thing was it was not ready. The potatoes had not set and it was soupy. Chicken sandwich, asparagus, and coffee were great. Pumpkin pie dessert was ok. I would suggest something else. Server was good, I think the server may have had too many table. Did not see a manager so we were not able to communicate our dining experience. We were on a timeline so once the server returned we ate what we had on the table. Just a suggestion when the server checks to see if the meal is up to par. They should probably wait until we have a a bite before leaving for an extended period of time. Also, the person who delivered the food asked if we were done with a crab cakes they didn't even have a dent eaten out of it. We said yes and that was that. Food that I had delivered was poorly prepared and incorrect. The French dip sandwich was missing the au jus, which is the essence of a French DIP, and there was no cheese on it, which I believe is also reflected in the photographs and a standard ingredient. The horseradish sauce was pretty much nonexistent, and the tiny bit that was on the bread was tasteless. The potatoes au gratin was 70-80% cheese and cream; there were hardly any potatoes in there - it was just really inedible. And the salad did not look like the photos, i.e., didn't have anywhere near the quantity of egg or bacon or other toppings that are reflected in the salads of the other reviewers. Very expensive to start with, especially for the quality of the food ($60+) much less when the food is poorly prepared and incorrect. read more

Stoney River has taken a down fall tremendously, the food is just not good anymore the flavors of each item is nothing like before I've been coming to Stoney River for years and I can truly say this is my 3rd time since the pandemic and it has been a fail each time. The steak rolls use to be the best thing smoking but unfortunately the cooks can't prep them the way their supposed to be. The Salmon had so much spice to it and it was distasteful I was shocked because I ordered the lemon butter option and it wasn't the taste I remembered. When I told the manager she stated the recipe hasn't changed and she can ask the cook to just do salt and pepper and I agreed but I still didn't enjoy it. I will not be back. read more

I'm here for the carrot cake! I have never tasted a better carrot cake in my life. And I've had countless versions from homemade to store bought to restaurants all over the globe. I love carrot cake and this one will have you dreaming about it, craving it midday, driving lightyear's from your location to get it here. No BS. Now the food was chain-esk, forgettable, I think I had salmon and broccoli with mash, it wasn't good, but the cake gets 5 stars. I'm sad to say that the quality of service here has gone down significantly over the years. I used to come here often with my family and decided to bring my husband for a date night here recently. Stoney River used to feel like a higher-end restaurant and the high price point matched the cozy ambiance and attentive service. However, things have changed significantly. The hosts were completely indifferent to the customers, more focused on talking to each other. I was waiting along with another couple and they also had a difficult time getting attention. Once they did, the host acted annoyed and walked quickly to drop off menus at the table before rushing back to conversation at the host stand. Mind you, this other couple was older and needed extra time to follow the host to the table and possible assistance into the booth. Once my party got seated, the server was nice but seemed to not know much about the menu. He checked on us often but it felt rushed rather than attentive. After our food arrived, the server did not ask about how our steaks were cooked and took a very long time to bring an extra steak knife that our table was missing. It would be one thing if the restaurant was busy but it was a weekday evening and there were only a few other tables and a few people sitting at the bar. I'm really disappointed in how much the service has gone down. While the food was just as good as I remembered it being, I will not be returning to this location specifically. read more

I wouldn't recommend coming to this restaurant. It's hard to believe it's owned by J. Alexander's, as the difference between the two is night and day. I doubt this location will still be open in two years. My steak was raw, so I sent it back, but when it returned, it was so charred on the outside. I tried another piece, but it was so bad that I couldn't eat any more. When the waitress asked how it was, I didn't have the heart to tell her it was so charred it was disgusting and lacked seasoning. Although our waitress was nice, we wouldn't see her for 5-10 minutes at a time, causing our meal to take over two hours to complete.The place was dead I have no idea what she was doing. read more

Well, Stoney River is one of the few restaurants that has Prime Rib on the menu, so they've got that. Steaks are good - not the best in the area. Think Bask, Ruth's, Luci's and J Michael's for better. Sides are average. Desserts, too, are average, although the carrot cake could feed an army. The real problem, though, is the service. It's slow and may remind you of a TGI Fridays experience. It's definitely not complementary to upscale steakhouse dining. So, not particularly bad, but also not particularly great, and with so many other steakhouses in the area that are really good, I am not sure what the compelling reason to dine at Stoney River would be. It is great for date night, family dinners, or business. The food was good as well. Be careful of the dinner rolls. They are warm little donuts that are very tasty bite size pieces of heaven. Lol! We started with spinach dip. It was more spinach and less cream and cheese. I found this to be perfect. Then to my entrée steak salad. The steak was good, some pieces were really salty, but I am ok with that. I am a cattle ranchers daughter. I know a good tasting steak when I taste it. A good place to go for a special occasion. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive. The food is phenomenal! The flavors are strong. I took one bite of the bleu cheese encrusted filet and was punched in the face with the tang of bleu cheese. The peppery taste of the au poivre was a delightful, and the bearnaise was a dream. There's no mistaking the flavor of the coffee-cured filet, it's not quite as subtle as I would have liked, but it is just so unique. My favorite side dish is the au gratin. Nothing else can even tempt me from saying no to those creamy, thinly sliced potatoes. The deviled eggs were so good they practically disappeared from the table. The rolls - oh the yummy yummy rolls - melt in your mouth. The pecan trout is very good, but I can't pass up a steak when coming to this steak house. My husband found this place by it's reviews. We were running errands and traveling through Atlanta and decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner. We arrived for an early dinner because we had skipped lunch and I am glad we did because the food was delicious and the portions were generous. We ordered drinks and salads and the tuna stack as an appetizer. I love a good seared Ahi tuna, but this tuna stack might be my new favorite appetizer. So much so that if I came here again I might order one as my meal. We both got Caesar salad but honestly we could have shared one. Our waiter was great and timed our entrees to come out after we had some time to finish our salads and appetizers. My husband got the New York strip and I got the filet, both were cooked perfectly and very tender. I will say that I liked the mashed sweet potatoes more than the potatoes au gratin. But I would return and order the extract same meal all over again because it was that good. I actually hope to stop here again just to try their other menu items! I went back here since my other review and the first time back on 11/24 and if it wasn't for my server I'd had given this place 1 STAR!! So everything started out well. I was greeted and sat in a timely manner. My server Caleb was great. I ordered the veggie burger which I've had many times before When my burger arrived it was DRY AND OLD!! So I sent it back and got the meatloaf. I didn't want to complain and send it back to but it was also DRY so I ate about half of it and told my server I really didn't enjoy it and asked for the manager. When I told him what was going on he insisted the meatloaf was fresh and made that day. At any rate I thought the meal should have been comped but I said how about you just charge me for the 2 sides and that's what he did. I have NO IDEA WHAT THE HELL WAS GOING ON IN THEIR KITCHEN but my broccoli was ALMOST RAW, HARD AND BARELY WARM!! Thank God Caleb took care of it and got it just the way I wanted it!! Amazing steak. I am from Texas so I am a big beef girl & somewhat picky about it. Their petite filet was delish! It was seasoned, seared & cooked perfectly. It had a nice flavorful crunch on the outside while still being buttery & juicy on the inside. I got my entree with the baked potato which was awesome & also snacked on other peoples sides like the Parmesan fries & the Gouda Mac & cheese which were also amazing. I also started with a side salad that was not only huge, but so fresh & flavorful. The complimentary poppy rolls were amazing as well, so sweet yet savory & served with some cinnamon butter. It is pricey, but you're getting the excellent quality of meat & the great atmosphere in return. Super cool place, reminded me of a lounge you'd see in an 80's movie. The drinks were also good too! Came tonight for a joint birthday dinner. They seem to have remodeled since my first time coming here. The decor is lighter and more chic but still the really dim lighting. I started with a strawberry mojito to drink and a water. Ordered the lobster bisque and the legendary filet with a baked potato. The rolls that they give you are A M A Z I N G. Taylor was our server tall brown skin girl very sweet and attentive. She made sure our party was well taken care of. I ordered my steak medium but received an almost well done steak as well as another person in our party he sent his back I decided to just deal with it because I was hungry but I wish I would've sent it back now. Decent food! The party I was with all enjoyed their dinners. I went with the coffee encrusted fillet, it was cooked to perfection and could be cut with my fork. It came with some au gratin potatoes that had an unusual flavor that was quite appealing. Stoney River Steakhouse and Grill is superb. I came here for my birthday this year and the service is great! My waiter was nice and attentive. The quality of the food here is on par. They give you a drink menu and the food menu. I got a drink and ordered a Mojito. The mint provided in the drink is refreshing and overall the drink was delicious. I know it's a steakhouse and that's what they are famous for which is steaks. However, what caught my eye was their Shrimp entree. The shrimp was breaded nicely and had a good flavor. I love the remoulade sauce they provided with the entree. The French fries were delicious too. It had like Parmesan and parsley on there I believe, but yes to flavor. Lol. Overall, excellent dish. Oh! And I forgot their BREAD ROLLS. Supreme. They offered this in the beginning before your actual entree. The bread rolls are so soft- almost donut like and melts in your mouth. They give you butter with it too. Since it was my birthday the waiter gave me a complimentary chocolate birthday cake. The display and layout was pretty cool. I am SO UPSET with our experience and the money we wasted. Growing up this was my favorite restaurant so I decided to take my friend here last night just for old times sake clearly this restaurant or maybe it was the location in this specific franchise has changed a lot. Let's start with the waiter. She was completely unprofessional and knew nothing about the menu as someone who went to this restaurant grow up I knew way more about the menu and the restaurant than she did, when it was time for us to leave, we asked her if we can get it to go.She brought the box and then offered tobox of our food for us. I thought that was nice of her and so I allowed her to do so. unfortunately we didn't check our food before we left to make sure it was all there. My bad i guess... On another note, I began to feel a little nauseous during the meal. I didn't share this with our waiter because I shouldn't have to. because of this, I hardly got to eat any of my meal. To make matters worse when we got home, we actually noticed that parts of our food were missing. What's crazy is she didn't even box up half of our food. We didn't even get a discount and I'm not sure how we didn't notice before we got home. What a waste of money. We didn't even get get to enjoy our experience at home or at the restaurant. This was her mistake and this was really frustrating to me, so all in all this was a terrible experience and since there's many locations in our area, if I was to go back to any of the stoney rivers, I would not be going back to this location probably. So bummed we did not try Stoney River Steakhouse sooner! This place is an absolute gem! We have a newborn so cooking has not been a priority so when we had family visit we decided to order in. We ordered online which was really simple. They do charge a packing fee (I think 5%) for online orders, but otherwise no complaints. The quoted time for our order was appropriate and everything in our order was correct - which seems to be rare these days. They forgot to include the utensils we asked for but not a big deal. We tried the following: Steak Rolls ($15) The Wedge ($12) Bistro Chicken ($24) Steakhouse Burger ($17) Danish Baby Back Ribs ($31) Pecan Trout ($28) Carrot Cake ($11) Four Layer Chocolate Ganache Cake ($10) Included Sides: Garlic Whipped Potatoes Creamed Spinach Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese Sweet Potato Casserole Loaded Baked Potato The food was phenomenal. We were really pleasantly surprised with how good everything was. The steak rolls were delightful. Full of flavor and such a different type of app then you find everywhere. The wedge salad was packed with blue cheese and bacon. The blue cheese was a strong one so if you don't love blue cheese definitely skip this salad here. The burger was to die for. I took one bite and instantly regretted not ordering this for myself. The combo of salty and sweet was spot on and it was so juicy. My pecan trout was super crispy and the sauce on the side was pretty much a delicious honey mustard. The ribs and bistro chicken were also both a hit! The chicken was crispy and the sauce was a wonderful addition. My favorite side dishes were the creamed spinach and the sweet potato casserole. I will get these every time. The only thing I would probably pass on again is the smoked gouda mac and cheese. It really just didn't hold a candle to everything else. The carrot cake was so so so moist. I love the pineapple in it and the abundance of cream cheese frosting. I will get this every single time. The chocolate cake was really good. Rich, but not overwhelming. If I had to choose it would definitely be the carrot, but if someone wanted the chocolate it's not a bad choice! We honestly can't wait to go back. There are so many other dishes we want to try. I had way too high expectations for this place apparently. We went on Father's day , but there was no wait when we got in. The next people in had to wait a few minutes, though, I believe. I had the trio of filet medallions and it was not good. I ordered my steak medium and one medallion came out that way but they were all crazy dry. The other two were well done. It took forever for the food, though, so I didn't even bother asking for a new plate. Plus, it was about celebrating time with my family and not a subpar meal. I'd never order the filet again or the medallions. Probably not even go here, honestly. I was shocked a $35 steak at a steakhouse was so poorly done. The macaroni was ok, nothing too special. Just when I have convinced myself that Stoney River is just too expensive to enjoy more than once in a long while - I eat there and am reminded why it really is worth drinks at the bar that are sparsely poured and overpriced...once you make it to your table the food is excellent. The service is consistently solid, and we have yet to order anything that wasn't very well seasoned and prepared nicely. Our most recent trip included the salmon and a filet. And even though our server didn't know what I meant when I ordered my filet "Pittsburgh-style" (which is still rare but charred at high temperature on the outside), it was excellent. I've been eating at SR for years and it's just solid. I usually drop by for lunch to get the steak and fries. Steak is always cooked to a nice medium or medium rare. All the sudden I had a taste for a good steak, so of course we got on Yelp and it steered us to Stoney River. Our server was great and the ambiance was on point. So we order appetizers, Nashville Hot Chicken biscuits, now these were the bomb!!! Right amount of heat for my taste buds! Then we ordered our steaks, I got the Ny strip, my lady orders the Rib eye.
