Had a 5 star Christmas Eve dinner. Host was very friendly and seated us promptly at our reservation time. Our waitress was also friendly and did a good job. As for the food and drink, everything was delicious. We started with the calamari and it was a big hit. For entrees I had the pecan trout and it was very flavorful and well cooked. Two others got the steakhouse burger and also said it was very good and our other entree was the Nola shrimp. I especially enjoyed the cauliflower side and the creamy mashed potato's. I walked into this restaurant and it was rather slow. I was seated immediately. The waitress was nice. She got my drink order and brought out bread. The bread was soft but rather dry. I ordered lobster bisque to start. It was ok. It was kind of bland. Then I ordered the filet trio off the special menu. The medallions were good. The blue cheese one was weird but the other two were delicious. It came with a baked potato. I would have loved to have some vegetables other than the bits of asparagus on the one steak. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED. Food made me extremely sick causing vomiting. We previously had good experiences at Stoney River as we dined in three times previously but this time we did carry out and became sick a few hours later. My wife became nauseous with a lot of stomach gas and discomfort but I had it much worse as I vomited 7-8 times over a five hour period. The next day I contacted the restaurant and they were very nice and said they will look into it and have their risk management team get back to me. However, the risk management employee said since they were unable to identify any specific issues relating to other diners (dine in) that had the same food, all they would do was provide a $40 credit for a future visit. I told them that maybe it wasn't the food but instead an employee handling the carryout had dirty hands but it didn't really matter as it made me sick. I said the $40 credit would be acceptable if their restaurant messed up our order but it was completely unacceptable because I became extremely sick that night and it took several days for my stomach to recover. They have yet to do anything but I'll follow up here if they make things right. read more

Nice looking restaurant! Lots of seating and very cool atmosphere.. I order a cocktail called Early Riser. The menu shows Woodford Reserve Bourbon, maple syrup and bitters. So it's an old fashioned with maple syrup rather than sugar. When the drink arrived, it didn't look anything like what I had expected, but I took a sip. It wasn't what was listed on the menu. There was a lot of citrus in it, and I didn't care for it at all. I called the waiter over and explained that this wasn't the drink I ordered. He came back with what was listed on the menu and explained that even though it isn't listed on the menu, the early riser has lemon juice in it! He apologized and said that they need to get that corrected. We started out with an appetizer called steak rolls. We were told that they are the most popular appetizer and described as an egg roll stuffed with beef. My wife thought they sound good so ordered them. They more like a gooey cheeseburger stuffed in a wonton and deep fried. Not quite what we were expecting, but they were very good. I ordered the steakhouse burger and it was "ok". I asked for medium and it was well done...and maybe even extra well done as the meat was dry. The caramelized onions and Gruyère cheese were excellent, as were the fries, but the main part of the dish was disappointing. My wife ordered the bistro chicken and said it was excellent, although her mashed potatoes were just above room temperature. I will try them again, but will stay away from the burger. read more

Hard to start with bad news but, went here for happy hour and was told that the happy hour was only on the bar stools next to the bar. Even though I ordered from the happy hour menu I was still charged full price. I won't get into how long it took to be greeted as the person who finally greeted me was very nice but it was at least 10min while sitting at the bar. Will I recommend it? First off we started w the deviled eggs, which featured homemade pickle relish and sugar-cured bacon--not phenomenal but very good. Next up was the house salad, which we split. To start, we got complimentary rolls which were warm, soft, dense, and sweet just like fresh donuts - it also comes with cinnamon butter. My family ordered a deviled eggs appetizer, too. The bacon on the deviled eggs was crispy, smoky and delicious. For my entree, I ordered the sea bass special, which was served with a lemon butter cream sauce; southern rice; and panko cauliflower (instead of the default sautéed spinach). The fish was juicy, flaky, and delicious. It was a bit heavy due to the natural fattiness of the fish and the lemon butter cream sauce...I thought it would be relatively light, like butter and lemon. Overall, the fish was enjoyable though. The panko cauliflower was crispy on the outside and seasoned well, albeit a little greasy. The rice was good and provided something more neutral to balance out the excess grease and heaviness. Since it was my birthday, I received a complimentary slice of chocolate cake upon request. It was warm, soft, moist, and not too sweet. There was a scoop of vanilla ice cream on side, with decadent chocolate sauce. There was also whipped cream on top. What a delicious way to end dinner! We came here for an early lunch, and I'm so glad we did. Our waitress was super kind, and gave great recommendations. The lemon drop mojito is definitely worth a try. The bread they bring out is delicious, and the food was pretty good as well. My rating is mainly for the service and atmosphere. This was our first time at this establishment and it had only been open a couple weeks since it was allowed to reopen from the covid lock down. It was so nice to actually go out to a restaurant again. On to the food I ordered the New York strip steak medium rare and backed potato. The cook on the beef was amazing The table also ordered prime rib, bone in cowboy ribeye, and the chicken dish. Everything was cooked perfectly and was well enjoyed by all. Our experience was decidedly mixed during our evening at Stoney River. We were celebrating an anniversary, and made reservations about 2 weeks earlier. We enjoyed the food and our waiter (Charles), but the rest of the staff, and the atmosphere were way below expectations. Despite making a reservation, they wrote "walkin" on the table card and took a long time to seat us. Instead of a nice booth near a window like we requested 2 weeks earlier, we had a loud table in the middle. The staff in general seems very poorly trained and unaccustomed to running a high end restaurant. No mention of a special occasion, and service was more or less indifferent - especially at the host station. The food was pretty good overall. Our deviled eggs were above average and the steaks were prepared very nicely. The highlight of the night was the enormous carrot cake (enough for 4 people), although the creme Brule was pretty bad. I think the layout is worth mentioning here... for a high end restaurant, it's very open and can be quite loud. It seems like the kind of place you would go with another couple or two, but I would not recommend this for a business deal or an intimate date for two. It's not at all private, it's loud and the service is well below what you would experience at Ruth's Chris, or Eddie V's. If you are in the budget for a $200+ dollar meal, I think there are better options. read more

Bar seating seemed to be more casual. Portions look small but it is plenty of food and it all came out hot! Rhyan was our server and he did an exceptional job at making sure we had everything we wanted! If you're wondering what to get with your side of steak I reccommend the Au Gratin Potatoes - 10x better than the mashed potatoes. I had no idea this was owned by the same group as J Alexander's, which I have gotten sick once on their shrimp and had a bout of stomach issues after eating there. Different manager and restaurant but same philosophy and practices are likely? Hope not. I was willing to give it a go, had a friend that used to work there, but the wait tonight was over an hour. It's not even 6:30pm on a Saturday night. Are peeps eating earlier these days then? Came back on a Monday night. No wait. Joe waited on us tonight. We ordered several items to share since this is part two of our progressive dinner meal tonight. Started off with deviled eggs, vine ripened tomatoes, Caesar and pan seared scallops. He was nice, attentive and quick. The deviled eggs were creamy, spicy and flavorful. I like the sprig of chives on each, added a nice light robustness edge to the eggs. The small bread rolls were sweet and warm and reminded me so much of a donut hole. They were so good, could have eaten the whole basket of them The Caesar dressing was intensely flavorful and yummy. Romaine was crisp and fresh. The mozzarella and vine ripened tomatoes were just okay. The tomatoes were not very ripe, didn't look vine ripened at least, pale red if at all and had little to no flavor to them. The mozzarella piece was a bit scant on each anemic tomato piece as well, but the balsamic glaze was nice as was the arugula salad. The fried onion was a nice looking garnish but it didn't appeal to me to eat it with the salad at all, texture thing. The scallops were well cooked, peppery and seasoned all over. The lemon beurre Blanc sauce was good, spinach was good, but maybe a bit too salty. The vine ripened tomato with the scallops is what I would have expected and preferred with the mozzarella and app. Food and service was all good here. read more

We've been here more than a handful of times. Food is pretty good. Servers did a nice job of serving us. Prices are a bit higher than they were in recent years but are not out of range with other places. The management really dropped the ball on us however and it really ruined the dinner. We made a reservation for 7 people on the "Resy" system used by the restaurant for a family dinner with my elderly parents and my sister's family. We made it very clear in the reservation notes that we could NOT be in a booth due to some physical restrictions and inability of part of our party to get in and out of the booth. We arrived on time, and they walked us back to our table, which of course was a booth. We told them we had an issue. They told us that the only other thing they could do was seat us at two separate tables, which could NOT be put together because the tables are all bolted to the floor. So they broke our family dinner into two tables. They also had two separate servers, because they said that even though they were near each other, they had different servers assigned to each table. And they said they could HAD to have separate checks, because the servers were different. Here is the cherry on top: Even though they wouldn't /"couldn't" seat us together and gave us separate checks for each table, they considered it one large party and dictated that gratuity is automatically added to each bill because it's more than 5 people. If you actually treated us like one party, I would understand. But when you treat us like we are an inconvenience to the restaurant for brining 7 people in for dinner, and don't even seat us or bill us as a group, don't add the gratuity. I have no problem tipping the amount they added. That wasn't the point. Had the manager called me ahead of time and told me they couldn't accommodate without putting us in a book, I would have been very grateful and cancelled and booked a smaller group for another time. But just not paying attention to the need, or seeing it and blowing it off, created a problem. There are really good places to eat all up and down Big Beaver Rd where the managers actually pay attention to the customer needs. We chose to sit outside to be safe and socially distanced and the patio was cozy and decorated with beautiful flower planters. The waiters wore masks and the inside dining was also socially distanced. All of our food and drink was supremely flavorful! 1) whiskey shrimp appetizer, 2) blackened salmon Caesar salad (salmon wasn't served blackened though, 3) steakhouse burger with Mac n cheese side, and carrot cake dessert plus 5) some Prosecco, apple brandy and ginger cocktail. Would give one star if the food was not amazing. The service left something to be desired. Went for a night out with my fiancé. Ordered two appetizers and two glasses of wine. Before anything had come out the sever was quick to ask what we would like for dinner. We asked for bread to accompany our appetizers and wanted some time before ordering. We were told policy is bread does not come out until entrees are ordered. We asked to speak to the manager (Michelle) and she informed us this was not the policy. Our waitress then brought bread out shortly after along with a side of attitude. The manager did not return to check on the food at any point thereafter. Service was clearly evident to favor an older clientele. My fiancé and I have frequented this establishment for the last couple of years and really enjoy the food. I loved Stoney River! I went around 4:00 pm during their happy hour (which runs from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at the bar) and had a great experience. We ordered spinach dip, steak bites, a wedge salad and also shared the creme brulee for dessert! Everything was fantastic and the happy hour cocktails were also refreshing.
