The dining room was clean and bright due to the surround windows. Food & drinks were excellent, can't wait to return. We ordered beverages: hot tea, strawberry Margaritas, appetizers: salad, shrimp and steak egg rolls; dinner: Ribeye, Meatloaf, & Nola grilled shrimp; desserts: Carrot Cake, Key lime pie, and Chocolate cake. Disappointed in the service I received and I wanted to warn others. I ordered food online for pickup and they double billed me and I went back to get the charge resolved. I was told it's a door dash issue and I can't do nothing for you. The disappointment is they don't stand behind the services they outsourced. Just be careful because if an issue happens in the ordering process they don't stand by the customer to resolve the issue. read more

Visiting the area for the first time and ended up at this restaurant. The atmosphere was great. I enjoyed that you could see into the kitchen where everyone was cooking. That was pretty cool. Our server was nice and she was very helpful as to what to order. I got the deviled eggs and the tuna stack. I'm big on tuna and that tuna stack was really good. Especially with the mango. The deviled eggs were ok. But I think I'm used to my grandmother's recipe because they just didn't land like I thought they would. I got the steak house burger and it was DELICIOUS. The caramelized onions were more than perfect and the thousand island dressing made it even better. All in all. It was a good place to eat and the food was good as well. read more

I have now been here 2 different time for brunch/lunch and I'm just not that impressed. This review is a 3.5 star review rather then a straight 3. Some of the nice things about here is there is plenty of parking and they are able to accommodate large parties. The menu seems to be a sad knock off of J. Alexander's. The prices are more then J. Alexander's but the food choices are not as great. The first time I came here I got spinach dip and then a burger. You don't realize how much you miss artichokes in a dip until you have a bland and frankly not good spinach dip. The burger was great. The fries were okay but they are the same fries that J. Alexander's has. The second time I came, I only had the burger. Both times, I have had the Steakhouse Burger. Its just a burger, nothing special. I have not had dinner or dessert. But based on what I have had, I'm not sure that I will be back anytime soon. read more

UPDATE food is good, however the service was terrible. Our waiter rarely even asked how we were doing or if we needed anything. He went missing and took forever to come to take our order. The decor and space is very nice. I felt like our food was subpar on this day. The shrimp was overcooked and not cleaned. The steak was undercooked. Management went out of their way to remedy the situation including free dessert but the first impression has already been made. I know it's hard to find employees right now so I won't be too harsh but I'm not sure if I'll come back. read more

LOVED IT! My mom and I came for a lunch when we were in the area. Such a beautiful restaurant. We were greeted by a hostess when we walked in. That was the only downside of our visit. She was the nastiest, unhappiest person I had met in quite awhile. I felt like I was a pain for being there. We were seated at a table near the bar and the visit got much better from there. The bartender was quite lovely and was friendly and attentive. We were offered their specials of the day, including drinks. We both ended up having their Prosecco spritzer. They have a full bar and wonderful wine selection, if you are so inclined. The menu is lovely! Plenty of salads, appetizers, soups, sandwiches, and entrees. My mom had the Cumberland salad which was a large salad with plenty of vegetables, avocado and chicken. She substituted the ranch for blue cheese and said it was delicious. I ended up having the whiskey shrimp and a side Caesar salad. My brain was bigger than my stomach and I could barely finish the meal, but it was delicious. The whiskey sauce was a little sweeter than I would like, but it was still delicious and I appreciate how you could taste the sauce and the shrimp. The bread that came with the Shrimp was amazing!!!!! Speaking of bread.. The rolls and butter that came with our meal were delicious! Great during the week, but best to avoid on weekends...Essentially a more steak centric J Alexanders, though no longer part of the corporate family after a spinoff. Has all the hallmarks of a typical J Alexanders restaurant. Very good service, usually two waiters tag teaming. Sidecars with martinis, freshly squeezed juice in the drinks, and a very fairly priced wine list with one or two standout cabs at less than 2x cost. Very good bread, lightly fried with honey butter. Great devilled eggs, good salads, and very good prime rib and steaks. The menu mirrors J Alexanders with much overlap but more steak and seafood selections at a very fair price point.  22 oz bone in ribeye with a side is a steal at 55 given these days the same steak is approaching 80 elsewhere without a side. Similar to J Alexanders they will cut a larger size prime rib and charge accordingly.  Same layout as most J Alexanders with booths surrounding tables and a decent sized bar. Good for business dinners and dates during the week, as it attracts a professional well-dressed clientele. On weekends it is a different place entirely, and morphs into a vastly different experience.  Jammed at the bar and vestibule with baseball cap wearing, jersey clad with boxer shorts popping out of blue jeans and the smell of marijuana wafting through the air. More like a frat party than an upper range to upscale restaurant. They become so crowded with walk ins the waiters are overwhelmed, and reservations not honored. When I'm paying for a nice dinner out,  this is usually not my cup of tea. When going to a bar before/after a sporting event sure, but then I know what to expect. So in short reasonably priced very good steaks, good drinks and service, but an identity crisis on weekends that desperately needs to be addressed. 4.5/5 stars so I'll round up to 5. I took my boyfriend here tonight for his Christmas gift - I like giving experiences vs physical gifts. We had a 6pm reservation and were seated around five minutes after 6. We started with cocktails - I had the Fool's Gold martini, upon recommendation from the waitress, which tasted like apple cider. He had the Rockefeller martini, and although normally it takes more than 1 drink to make him tipsy, he was knackered after the one, lol... We weren't offered bread, which I was a little miffed about, but I had read on Yelp about their donut-esque bread, so I asked for it, and it was very good. For my entree, I had the 7 oz sirloin with au gratin potatoes, and it was DELICIOUS. I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked perfectly, topped with butter, and it had an awesome crust too. The au gratin potatoes were sliced extremely thin and I'm willing to bet had a few different types of cheeses on it. I had a filet at Seasons 52 earlier this week and I enjoyed this one more, although to be fair that one was in a wine sauce. My boyfriend ordered the 14 oz. ribeye and the mashed potatoes, and both were very good, though I'll say the ribeye at Eddie V's is better. Although steaks come with your choice of potato, we also ordered a side of the burgundy wild mushrooms, which were also tasty. For dessert, we had the creme brulee, which was good although part of it was room temperature and part of it was cold - I'm not sure which is correct, but they should pick one and stick with it. A few negatives: I was a bit annoyed that bread wasn't initially offered. Also, they'll bring you a carafe of water, and waitstaff will stop by to refill your glass; however, once our carafe ran out, we had to wait a bit for a new one. The interior is beautiful! I came for lunch on a Saturday and the service we had was great! The app we had was really good, it was steak egg rolls with spicy ranch. It was essentially a cheese steak egg roll. I ordered the Cumberland salad and it was great! The presentation was beautiful and it was hugeeee! The French dip was gigantic and delicious as well. I like that they didn't pre dip the sandwich so you can pick and choose which bites you want soggy and which you don't. The one item I didn't care for was the side of mac and cheese. I'm really not a fan of Gouda based mac and cheese- the flavor is too overwhelming and it gives it a grainy texture which I don't love in my mac. Not terrible but I wouldn't reorder that. I had high expectations for Stoney River, in large part because it shares ownership with J. Alexander's. Like J. Alex, the restaurant offers a pleasurable and stylish dining experience. The dining area is large; the bar area was cleverly designed so that it was separate but still a part of the space. I loved that the dining room accommodated a ton of booths - because we all know those are the best seats in the house. While it was late afternoon/early evening, the restaurant was already quite full. Large groups of friends, as well as smaller tables of young families all seemed to enjoy an evening out. Given its ownership, there would be inevitable comparisons between the two. Whereas J. Alex is done in rich cherry wood, this spot features light wood with large industrial lights. Of course, I noticed the eye-catching fixtures. Similar to J. Alex, the menu has limited options, but there was enough of a selection for varied appetites. I had all my favorite things. To start, I devoured the relish-flavored deviled eggs. When it comes to these eggs, I have a no sharing policy. They are that good. I think it is the combination of sweet relish, cured bacon, and spicy mustard that just makes it extraordinary. Also extraordinary was the bread basket filled with doughnut hole-type rolls and sweet butter. For my entrée, I had to have the prime rib. Yes, both the NY strip and ribeye looked tempting, but I just love, love, love prime rib and it was my cheat/treat day. The dish is served with one potato side, fries, mashed, au gratin, or baked. I went with the fries because, J. Alex, right? However, unlike J. Alex with their perfect mountain of fries, the ones here were just okay. While they were crispy, they also tasted a bit dried out. Sad. Oh, well, the several hundred calories I saved is a nice silver lining. Of course, I had to have the Brussels sprouts because it was my "favorite things" day. The crispy, slightly bitter, slightly sweet side was so good. Did I have dessert? Unfortunately not. There was nothing on the menu that I really wanted, so a days-worth of calories saved. I will start off by saying that my partner and myself, have never had a bad dinning experience here. We visited Stoney River on Feb 15, to celebrate our Valentine's Day a day late. As of lately, we have been making reservations when we know we will be having dinner there, which we did this time as well. Angela B was our waitress today. She did an awesome job! Was on top of our drinks, making sure we had plenty of ice per our own request. The willingness to engage in little small talk was the icing on the cake. I feel as though, she went above and beyond our expectations, and will be requesting her as our server again. read more

Excellent! Had dinner here the other night with friends for my birthday and everything was excellent from start to finish. Amazing service, delicious food and beautiful restaurant. I love that they take reservations so we hardly waited after arriving. Our sever was friendly and attentive even though she was very busy. Our steaks were cooked exactly as we ordered them and they even come with one side, something a lot of steak houses don't do. The server even brought out a delicious slice of chocolate cake big enough for all three of us for my birthday. I absolutely will be back. read more

We didn't have a reservation and walked in just after 6. They said about 20 minute wait, it ended up being closer to 35 minutes but we understood since we didn't have a reservation, it was a new restaurant, and a Friday night. The restaurant is decorated nicely. There was a little bit of a wait for the food, BUT when it came it was well worth it. It started with soft donut like rolls with cinnamon butter. I had the petite filet, my husband the coffee crusted filet, and my in-laws split a filet, they were all great. We had sides of asparagus, Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, and baked potato with bacon and butter. The steaks were all great as well as the sides, though I'd really recommend the Brussels sprouts! Then we were too full so we ordered dessert to go. Had the carrot cake and creme brûlée. Ate it when we got home- both were great. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I must be honest. My food was horrifying. Everything was absolutely drenched and loaded with sugar. Sickeningly sweet. I ordered their French onion soup and it was like sipping on straight corn syrup. The "crouton" in the soup, disintegrated into mush and this "soup" resembled gruel more than a soup. The only edible part of this "soup" was the melted Gruyere cheese on top. I could not eat the rest of it. Both the "rolls" and "butter" were also loaded with sugar. More like eating a sweet cake with sugar frosting, except the butter was sweeter than any frosting I know of. As my main course, I ordered the Sweet and Spicy Szechuan Salmon. This too was a crisp, sugar cube with nothing spicy about it. The ambiance was pleasant enough. And our server/wait staff did a good job, attending to our requests. I left her a 20% tip in spite of the sugar laden "food", that was basically inedible. It's not her fault that the kitchen puts out food like that. This is the only reason I even gave it one star. If I could leave zero, I would. I immediately brushed my teeth when I returned home, to get the sickening sweet taste out of my mouth. read more

Each table was lit exceptionally well, lighting the center of the table for menu reading while your actual seat was nice a mutely lit for ambiance. Mostly due to the inconsistency with knowledge of what is gluten free, I no longer eat here. It's unfortunate because the food is very good and the staff are kind but no nothing is marked for allergies and no one seems to really know. I'd come here for a cocktail / happy hour as it truly is a nice restaurant. However if you are to eat here, don't have any allergies and don't be in a rush. The last couple of times I've been here it's taken almost two hours. They have a nice indoor seating area, very comfortable chairs and a beautiful outside area. read more

This was our first time at Stoney River. It was easy to make a reservation for my birthday through their web site, and, upon arrival, a text thread allowed me to check in for our reservation. When I made the reservation online, it said we would be seated in the dining room. Unfortunately, we were seated in the bar area. We had been told that they were running behind on reservations, so we begrudgingly sat in the bar area instead of waiting longer to see if we could sit in the dining room. Our server told us that she was being trained, and the server accompanying her told us the specials. We decided to start with drinks and spinach dip. The spin dip was good, but we probably could have done with less onion. For our meal, I had the center cut filet with the half pound baked potato and my husband had the steak and biscuits with Parmesan fries. I really enjoyed the filet. The butter that came with it was the perfect addition! My husband's steak and biscuits were quite peppery. We had some issues throughout dinner and spoke to a manager. The food and drinks were expensive, but were styled well. The deviled eggs sported candied bacon, but were otherwise unremarkable. The ahi tuna salad had an abundance of greens, but the four half dollar sized pieces of raw tuna weren't seared enough in the outside--gray color, not brown. The NOLA shrimp and rice were quite spicy, although the waitperson assured that it was not when asked. The pecan trout was mostly pecans. The carrot cake was enough for four people but tasteless. The creme brûlée had an excellent sugar crunch but was presented in a soup bowl. The restaurant was busy for a weeknight so the waitstaff were literally, running from one table to the next. Pathetic level of service, over cooked bland food with a very generic unfriendly atmosphere. Took a seat at the lounge rather than the table I reserved due to the long line waiting. 15 minutes before I was addressed by 1 of the 3 persons behind the bar. Water was fine, the "Draper" was not at all a proper Old Fashioned as expected. Had a very strange flavor not accustomed to with that classic cocktail. Specialty "steak & biscuits" was little more than Pillsbury frozen biscuits from a tube and the lowest cut of meat you could offer, over cooked and full of gristle. Not the Filet they describe. Bartender offered me A1 sauce because guests complained the meal was a bit dry. It was sad. Add 2 pounds of over cooked French Fries to mask the inadequacy of the rest of the meal and you get what I was served. No offer of ketchup, that may have helped. I ate about 20% and pushed it off to signal the clueless bar staff that I was done. 10 minutes later, they came and asked if I'd like it boxed up, no thank you. I asked for the check. 20 minutes later, I asked again. All the while, 3 rather a luff bar staff ignored me. Thanks, but no thanks. Stay clear unless you'd like to be disappointed. I was kind and left a $1.50 tip. .50 cents per person who gave no care in my existence as a customer, my meal which was horrible, and again my existence for me paying my bill. These chain restaurants are a shame, I like to support local businesses and this was definitely not that.
