The best indicator of this is the multitude of local workers coming by for lunch. The place is eclectic with a hodgepodge of many old curios for sale. The dining room is decorated to look like, you guessed it, a barn with signs and antique decor. We were taken right in at the front counter where you place your food order. They give you a pager to let you know when it's chow time. Bring the pager to the kitchen window where your hot food will be waiting for you. I ordered the catfish and gulf shrimp. I t came with hush puppies and coleslaw. I added the fried okra as my side. My wife had the gulf shrimp as well and couldn't stop raving about it. Everything was delicious. We enjoyed Feed Barn so much, we were back just two days later. The Yelp reviews say it all. If you're hungry and want great southern fare, Feed Barn won't disappoint!

That might seem…read moreweird, but we're traveling across Texas in our campervan and Cracker Barrel tolerates overnight parking in their lots with the kind request that if you're having a meal, that you have it with them. So we did. First thing in the morning. Well, 7am when they opened. We were at the door and seated. Coffee arrived and not too long after, a fabulous breakfast. Mrs. K. loved her French Toast which was cooked properly and there was enough to go with us for snacking later. I demolished my breakfast. Uncle Hershel's with basted eggs, bacon, hashbrown casserole and Mrs. K. stole my fried apples. With the biscuits and jam to share, a fabulous meal. We're huge fans of Cracker Barrel because of their support of the RV life and we'll continue to have great meals here as we travel. [Review 376 of 2026 - 693 in Texas - 25561 overall]

It had been ages since I had been, and now as a gluten-free eater, I imagined just country fried steak, biscuits, and green beans. And while they do have these things, I was so happy that they had a quite diverse menu that I ate from with delight. It's not an exaggeration that Cracker Barrel ended up as the highlight of the trip amongst an onslaught of travel issues. The gift shop one walks through to get to the dining area was stuffed with odd but interesting things, and the dining area itself was spacious and heavily decorated, with a large array of windows letting in some sunshine. Our waitress Elena was young, bubbly, and not to be found without a smile on her face. My steak was perfectly cooked, although with a small bite or two of tough gristle, and my chicken was soooo tender. The broccoli had a great crunch and wasn't soggy, the mashed potatoes were hearty and tasted great without a drop of gravy. Their house salad was shockingly good and almost a full meal despite being a side. I also had a nice mimosa. I was glad to have my opinion turned around.

What should have been a great time was an abhorrent disaster. 9pm reservations...waited 10mins at the hostess station only to not get a table on the runway. 2 guys that came in 5mins after us were seated there. Waited another 8-10mins for our server to show up. The 2 guys on the runway, served before us. My wife's steak burger ($25) was charred on the outside and had spots of bright pink meat in it. Fries were passably warm. My dinner consisted of a charred/burned on one side chicken fried steak, cold baked potato that didnt even melt the butter or cheese and cold Codycorn. Manager took my entree off the bill, which is the least that should be done. Offered us dessert, out of half of them. The worst part of all was having to look at my wife who was very sad that I didn't get a meal. Thank you JCody and Gate 12 for robbing us of our once in a lifetime celebration.!!!
