I was SO EXCITED to find out that there is a Cookshack in College Station!…read more We stopped here for lunch on a Sunday before heading home. We were BLOWN AWAY by the number of college students, dressed in their Sunday's best, openly praying over their food before enjoying some awesome chicken. It was SO NICE TO SEE! We ordered a family meal (20 pieces), 2 sides of fries and a chicken sandwich meal. We paid around $40. Great value! The food came out quick and arrived hot and fresh. I had a slight "issue" where I thought my chicken wasn't fully cooked and the manager reassured me that it was just breading but happily remade my sandwich to give me peace of mind. I REALLY appreciated that. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, literally leaving "not a fry left behind." The size of my chicken on the sandwich was HUGE- had to be hanging off the roll by 2" on each side! Staff were phenomenal. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Love the laid back decor. Plenty of seating inside and some tables outdoors as well. Definitely recommend!

Really good! In fact, it's a contender for my favorite fried chicken in town. The only undecided…read morewinner so far is Mess Waffles. The Cookshack has a different vibe and feels more like a lunch or dinner spot, while Mess is the perfect breakfast place. Alright, who am I reviewing again? Right. The Cookshack has some great options, and my wife and I went for the Chicken & Waffles. I chose the hottest seasoning they had--pretty sure it was ghost pepper--and yeah, it was spicy but didn't make me miserable. There was a lot of food, and it definitely filled us up. My wife got mac n cheese with hers and really enjoyed every bite. The cashier was nice and attentive. The atmosphere is great for a lunch or dinner date. Plus, they have large booths, which we really appreciate.

Bar drinks are above par, housemade syrups and fresh juices. The bartender served us. She, Lacey (if I remember correctly) was great, had good recommendations and was very knowledgeable. My son had the scallops shrimp and grits, he cleaned the plate. I had chicken fries steak and fries with jalapeño gravy. Food was very good. Definitely be visiting this place again!!

My son ordered the scallops and to say they were gritty was an understatement. And the service...well when we could flag our waitress down we got service. Otherwise she was nowhere to be found. My husband flagged down another waitress after we had been sitting there for 15 minutes without any water or drinks. We also had to flag her down for the check. Considering the price tag for the night, I expected the service to be better.

The Burger house... or should I say Shack cause that's what it looks like !…read more I was in C station trying to find a good burger place. I used to live around Hempstead, Prairie view and Waller a couple years ago when I first came to Texas and it was kinda hard finding good places to eat ' I'm not gonna lie I was scouring yelp for about 30 mins before I stumbled across Burger House. I even got to the point where I asked some locals and they said Burger House was a burger staple in C station. Upon looking at the photos, it seemed like a burger that you make at the house to be candid. When I pulled up, I was like "oh wow this place look like a straight shack that's fasho." I decided to go through the drive-through & when I pulled up to the drive-through the gentleman who took my order was hella welcoming and just overall nice like he was happy I pulled up. I swear I was the highlight of my visit. I ended up getting the combo , bacon cheeseburger with fries and a drink, and it was for decent price too. The burger itself was mediocre if I'm being honest, the meat lacked some seasoning, though the fries were pretty decent with a soft inside, light crisp outside. I like the fact they put the lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles on the side instead of in the burger which can make it soggy. So there was some attention to detail. The Bun though? That thang was soft on the outside and was lightly toasted on the inside, which was dope. Would I be back? If I'm being honest, just to say wasup to the gentlemen who took my order and that's about it!

Today, ate at Chicken Oil Company. They were amazing growing up! Wow how they went downhill!…read more Koppe Bridge is what Chicken Oil use to be. You place your order, they make your burger and it goes from the grill to the bun. Nice and greasy like it should be. Chicken Oil has become so packed you can't move. The burgers have become an assembly line. They cook 10-20 and toss them in a pan where they sit until it's moved down the line. Dry & cold. Koppe Bridge has a wonderful atmosphere. Old school country music playing. Creaky wooden floors. The one thing I CAN give the edge to Chicken Oil is the friendly and helpful staff! Because honestly..I've eaten at Koppe numerous times and literally every single time, the girls in the front are essentially snotty Sorority-type girls. Always different girls but always the same type. (Rude, eye rolls, zero friendly customer service). Maybe they need to hire staff based on personality and not how cute they are.

I've had their burgers so many times that it should be rated on Texas Monthly. They are great. This time I changed it up and went with the chicken friend steak sandwich basket. The parking seems small, but just circle around. Whatever side you come on, go to the "back" and you'll find room. When you come in go straight to the cash registers and place your order/state your name. Grab your drinks and find a seat. Pay attention because when the guy screams your name into the cheap-axst speaker system, you might loose it. Consider it an audiology exam. If you come in with a parent that was on Peanuts, they will understand the PA perfectly. Everyone else takes their chances. With the basket you get a PILE of bar fries. They are great and there's a mountain of them. This alone should lure you in. I went with the chicket fried steak sandwich. Very tasty, but for some reason I thought it would come with gravy. Nope. If that changes your impression of a chicken fried steak, you may want to pass. I just covered it in ketchup and enjoyed the change up. Pro-Tip: Don't even try to come here on game days.
