We were BLOWN AWAY by the number of college students, dressed in their Sunday's best, openly praying over their food before enjoying some awesome chicken. It was SO NICE TO SEE! We ordered a family meal (20 pieces), 2 sides of fries and a chicken sandwich meal. We paid around $40. Great value! The food came out quick and arrived hot and fresh. I had a slight "issue" where I thought my chicken wasn't fully cooked and the manager reassured me that it was just breading but happily remade my sandwich to give me peace of mind. I REALLY appreciated that. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, literally leaving "not a fry left behind." The size of my chicken on the sandwich was HUGE- had to be hanging off the roll by 2" on each side! Staff were phenomenal. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Love the laid back decor. Plenty of seating inside and some tables outdoors as well. Definitely recommend!

The Cookshack has a different vibe and feels more like a lunch or dinner spot, while Mess is the perfect breakfast place. Alright, who am I reviewing again? Right. The Cookshack has some great options, and my wife and I went for the Chicken & Waffles. I chose the hottest seasoning they had--pretty sure it was ghost pepper--and yeah, it was spicy but didn't make me miserable. There was a lot of food, and it definitely filled us up. My wife got mac n cheese with hers and really enjoyed every bite. The cashier was nice and attentive. The atmosphere is great for a lunch or dinner date. Plus, they have large booths, which we really appreciate.

I asked for mint jelly and guess what? 10 minutes later they told me they didn't have it. The final straw was when I asked for some of the cornbread and they ended up having to pack it to go because it took 30 minutes. They comped the oysters and crème brule. Like southern fried chicken breaking bad. I first had it at Hattie B's in Nashville. Hot! I mean really hot! And absolutely cravable. I had sort of given up on good hot chicken outside of Tennessee (not a fan of the other local spots in BCS), so I was excited to try Houston Hot Chicken. Stylish and functional interior, with good sized tables, comfy chairs. A little loud for talking. The best reason to come is the excellent staff, though. They explain all the different spice levels and are educated about the restaurant and their offerings. Super helpful and well trained folks (which anyone in BCS knows is remarkable in a town of college student staffed fast food). Sade, who helped me, is the best! I had a meal that included one tender at the Spicy Level and a Medium level sandwich, and subbed cole slaw for the fries. Also had a scrumptious strawberry hibiscus frosty lemonade - pro tip: get it half and half frozen and liquid for the perfect drinkability. Well, I should have eaten the sandwich before the tender because I blew out my palette on the addictive spiciness and succulent texture of the tender. 13/10 for pure tasty pain. The coleslaw, while not remarkable on its own, is a welcome break. The dipping sauce is fine but honestly, it added more texture than taste when you're eating at Spicy Level and above. I also like how you get the traditional hot chicken finish on the meat but without it coming across like a grease bomb (although your bright orange fingers will tell a different tale). I blew my spice induced runny nose about 35 times. The sandwich, supposedly medium spicy, was pretty mild at this point lol. Very tasty. The slaw and pickles provide a nice crunch and texture. Good bun, too, and nicely toasted. This is a great spot for hot chicken and even mild chicken. The no spice and honey butter levels are good for even the wimpiest diners . If you are a chile head, it's a no brainer, definitely go. And don't miss the slushes!

We made it just in time because there was no wait and the restaurant wasn't crowded yet. We were greeted by Connor, who was a pleasure to have as our server. He made great recommendations and gave us his honest opinions about the food and drinks, which we really appreciated. I had the citrus chicken, while my family ordered the mushroom ravioli and spaghetti. Everything was delicious, and the fresh-squeezed lemonade was wonderful! I also tried a lavender mocktail. It was okay, although I think it may have tasted better as a cocktail. By the time we were ready to leave, there was a wait, so we were glad we arrived when we did. There is also plenty of outdoor seating if you prefer to dine outside. We really enjoyed the flavorful dishes, the friendly service, and the overall experience. We'll definitely be back again!

Nothing special about the pepperoni pizza at all. The melted Raclette was really fancy and delicious. They came out with melted cheese and scraped it onto our bread and prosciutto. Palo Alto dip was weird, but pretty good too. I don't think I've ever eaten anything like that. The bow tie pasta was ok. The Citrus Chicken and Beef Bourguigon were very tasty and flavorful. Overall, a bit pricey, but the food portions were generous and the quality on some of these dishes were worth it. The staff here were fast and friendly. Lots of tables to dine at to include outside in a tent, buuut it's summer so indoor sounds better lol. Lots of parking as well.

I used to live around Hempstead, Prairie view and Waller a couple years ago when I first came to Texas and it was kinda hard finding good places to eat ' I'm not gonna lie I was scouring yelp for about 30 mins before I stumbled across Burger House. I even got to the point where I asked some locals and they said Burger House was a burger staple in C station. Upon looking at the photos, it seemed like a burger that you make at the house to be candid. When I pulled up, I was like "oh wow this place look like a straight shack that's fasho." I decided to go through the drive-through & when I pulled up to the drive-through the gentleman who took my order was hella welcoming and just overall nice like he was happy I pulled up. I swear I was the highlight of my visit. I ended up getting the combo , bacon cheeseburger with fries and a drink, and it was for decent price too. The burger itself was mediocre if I'm being honest, the meat lacked some seasoning, though the fries were pretty decent with a soft inside, light crisp outside. I like the fact they put the lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles on the side instead of in the burger which can make it soggy. So there was some attention to detail. The Bun though? That thang was soft on the outside and was lightly toasted on the inside, which was dope. Would I be back? If I'm being honest, just to say wasup to the gentlemen who took my order and that's about it!

You place your order, they make your burger and it goes from the grill to the bun. Nice and greasy like it should be. Chicken Oil has become so packed you can't move. The burgers have become an assembly line. They cook 10-20 and toss them in a pan where they sit until it's moved down the line. Dry & cold. Koppe Bridge has a wonderful atmosphere. Old school country music playing. Creaky wooden floors. The one thing I CAN give the edge to Chicken Oil is the friendly and helpful staff! Because honestly..I've eaten at Koppe numerous times and literally every single time, the girls in the front are essentially snotty Sorority-type girls. Always different girls but always the same type. (Rude, eye rolls, zero friendly customer service). Maybe they need to hire staff based on personality and not how cute they are.

Pay attention because when the guy screams your name into the cheap-axst speaker system, you might loose it. Consider it an audiology exam.
