The food wasn't really fantastic and we weren't planning to eat here but it was still spring and Striper Bites is one of the only restuarants open on Monday night in Lewes. Fun pub-like atmosphere, fascinating decorations (aquariums 15+ feet high above the bar), and decent food. Maybe slightly overpriced entrees but Monday night they had 1/2 off burgers so that reduced our bill. Decent beer selection. Acceptable service. BUT, if it had been a "busy" night I would have been disappointed that we had to wait for the table. I'm sure I would just go somewhere else if there was a 20+ minute wait. read more

I had lunch here with a few others, everyone had the lobster roll. Delicious, lots of lobster meat and not full of fillers. Great beer selection and reasonably priced. Sat outside, beware of bugs. Very nice experience overall. read more

Dropped in for a late (2 PM) lunch on an off season Thursday. Busy though - lovely day and lots of folks out. Just one waitress on duty, but she kept up with the crowd exceptionally well and with friendly, no need to ask accommodating service. Someone I assume was the manager or owner was making sure she had all the help she needed. Good service. Food was a B. Loaded baked potato soup (soup of the day) was rock solid. Fried chicken salad was good, but unexceptional. Chicken fingers on a good house salad. Ho hum. Blackened mahi-mahi club sandwich (with potato salad side of the day) was really good. As a foodie I have to nit that the ciabatta texture wasn't great...crust too soft, and crumb too light and uniform. Not on my favorite list but I'd definitely come again. read more

My husband and I had dinner here last night. It was good, but easily could have been great with a little attention to detail. My husband had the glazed pork loin and coconut risotto. The flavors were spot on!!! Delicious. However, both were slightly undercooked. I had the nor'easter (a crab cake, shrimp and scallops combo) the seafood was cooked perfectly but the mashed potatoes were cold and the sugar snap peas had not been trimmed and de-stringed(is that a word?) it just made the texture unpleasant. Overall the flavors were good and the quality of ingredients was excellent. There just needs to be a bit more care in preparation. read more

Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere and a terrific place to celebrate your engagement!!

While this may be a fun place to hang out, the quality of the food varies. We enjoyed dinner here last Fall and came back to try it again. This time the food preparation was disappointing. The crab soup was too heavy and had very little taste. Mussels were fresh, broth was salty. The house salad was bland and the grilled shrimp toppers were rubbery and tasteless. The lobster roll came with white bread, lobster meat was OK. The wine list is extensive enough and we enjoyed the Riesling. Service was cheerful and attentive. The music on a Thursday night was nice, but a little loud inside. Next time we will try one of the other town restaurants. read more

Efficient and friendly service, we went there twice over the weekend we visited Lewes. Try the cole slaw. Out of this world.

Great casual place to get great food. I'm a fan of the shrimp and grits. Also the calamari and crab bisque are great! Overall atmosphere is good, may get a little tight and louder when the season is at its peak, then i would suggest outside seating. My table got crab pasta, sushi, salad with scallops, steamed shrimp, and tequila cocktails. Everything was delicious and we seriously enjoyed. It might seem pricey but the plates are well portioned and the food is so good! Definitely recommend! read more

Stopped in on our way home to PA from a few beach days in DE, and wanted one last seafood dinner before heading home. Striper Bites didn't disappoint! The crab bisque was creamy and full of lump crab meat. It came immediately after we ordered, which was great. Service was slow for our actual lunches, but the waiter was completely apologetic and took a percentage off of our check and gave complimentary drinks. When our crab cake and lobster rolls arrived we thought it was worth the wait! I'd highly recommend this great restaurant. read more

Food was great. We had conch fritters, ceviche, sea bass, and more. All the food was fresh which is a big deal to me.

Delicious! Five of us came for dinner and were told 40 minute wait. 15 minutes and we were seated. Friends enjoyed their sushi and the shrimp and grits had a wonderful blend of flavors making this one of my favorite meals all weekend. Just stopped in to get out of the 90 degree heat and stepped into a nautical wonderland. The fish tacos were fresh and definitely the best I have ever had due in part to the lightly sweetened cole slaw and huge pile of fixings including cheese lettuce salsa and sour cream. My husband ordered the lobster roll which was packed with fresh lobster and very little filler. The roll was toasted to perfection. Definitely a seaside retreat worth visiting. read more

Last time I went to striped bites was about five years ago and the experience was mediocre. This time was a different story! I had the lobster Mac and cheese and it was delicious. Portion was very generous. Our waitress Jess was very nice and accommodating. She really took care of us and had a great personality. The one negative was that the girl answering phones- Issie - was very unwelcoming. We almost decided against going based on the phone call but I'm glad we took the chance. I will definitely try this place again and will update at that time. read more

Consistently good service, fresh food, and fun atmosphere.

I felt underwhelmed reflecting on yesterday's dinner meal. The SB spritzer was absolutely delicious, but the hummus and vegetables appetizer was merely a chopped cucumber, onion, and jarred artichokes on the side. I had the rockfish board which was cooked perfectly but completely under seasoned. I'm not one to ever add salt or pepper but I found myself never feeling like I added enough. Very plain potatoes, mushrooms, and spinach. There was a broth but the vegetables still should have been seasoned first. My boyfriend got the rockfish entree special that came with a corn blend - I definitely wish I had gotten that. We were looking forward to the apple pie for dessert but opted to skip because the table next to us was unbearable. They were intoxicated 40-50 year olds, throwing around the F word with families and young children around. It ruined the atmosphere and we were itching to get away from them. read more

The food was pretty good. But the staff seem crabby sometimes (the management usually). We go to restuarants all and sometimes split two dishes (to sample two things) along with ordering a lot of additional dishes, apps and beverages. They should just split the food if someone asks them too just like 99% of all the other restuarants our family goes to without charging to plate it for you. That's silly and greedy. read more

Nice atmosphere, but service was incredibly slow and the food was mediocre. I had a salad and a few of the lettuce leaves were rotten. My husbands wings were pretty good and his 2 fish tacos were just ok. We visited on a slow afternoon, so we're not sure why the service was so bad. read more

This was our third or forth visit to Striper bites. We always loved getting the nachos, loaded with crab, chicken, and guacamole! Tonight, we waited a very long time for them to come out and it was not worth the wait. Usually there are sections of crab, chicken and guacamole with melted cheese on top of fresh, crunchy chips. Tonight, the whole thing looked extremely over cooked with maybe a teaspoon of crab meat that was burnt into some brown, crusty cheese stuck to the paper it was on and I found 2 little pieces of dried up chicken cubes. There was a good amount of guacamole but everything else sucked. All of the chips were brown. When I saw our waitress I asked her what she thought of how they looked and I told her that I have had them before and that these were nothing like we have received in the past. I don't think she even looked at them and just said that there is crab and chicken in there, sometimes it is under the cheese. We looked through the whole plate and I was trying to make her admit that it was no good, but she never did. She just said that she could take them back and have them remade or take them off the bill. We had them taken off the bill. We aren't planning to return. read more

A friend recommended this place to me a while ago, so we stopped in after our trip back on the Cape May ferry. A little bit of an issue when first being seated, having been pushed out of the way by a very rude woman and sat at a small, uneven table. But the staff was very nice about us moving to another table and our server Ken was great. We shared an order of nachooooooos and they were very good. I had the mahi tacos, and they were fantastic! My sister had the fried clams po boy and she said it was good. And wow, their drinks are strong! They certainly don't cheat you on the alcohol. read more

Lobster roll was ok, but fries from the freezer were still stuck together and only luke warm. Drink prices were high but wine and beer was reasonable. When we arrived in town it was recommended by a local that eat here. We were looking for a casual meal. We got iced tea and drinks and both were good. We got the pumpkin lobster bisque. It was bland. You could taste the pumpkin but not the lobster. There was no lobster pieces in the soup. I don't know if there was not supped to be or the person dishing it out didn't dip down deep into the soup pot to get some. Went on a weekday. They weren't that busy. Why they kept us waiting to take our drink order only leads me to believe they were short staffed. Service was friendly. Not fast. meh. I'd eat there if I was starving. Lemonade was WEAK. I am a lemonade-aholic. And if you're scooping up that powder and using tap water, I can FREAKIN' TELL! I asked the server for lemon wedges (hoping he got the message). My husband, son and I all ordered sandwiches. Son got grilled cheese which is ...well...grilled cheese. Problem with it is that I think it sat too long waiting for the other sandwiches. My sandwich: ham, brie, mustard grilled on ciabatta bread. Apples were missing. I said nothing because the sandwich was tasty without the apples. The french fries they serve are almost exactly like McDonalds french fries. They're good but not what you expect from a *bistro* serving gourmet sandwiches and upscale faire. Husband got a turkey BLT. No complaints. I wouldn't go there again. But it was just ok. We decided to sit at the bar tonight. The bartender was on the ball - quick with a greeting, what can I get ya and would you like a menu. We ordered a drink and checked out the menu. When he brought us our drinks we even got the did ya see tonight's special board? Neither of us went for the special. I had the rock fish which was perfectly cooked ... Moist and flakey and delicious! My dad had the crab cake. He loved it. I tried a bite and wasn't nearly as impressed but my dad was very happy with it, so that's all that mattered to me. read more

Nothing special. The food was average. This was our first visit to Striper Bites. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated and it wasn't worth the wait. The restaurant was over run with children. They were everywhere, walking around unaccompanied, playing in the bathrooms. We are a couple with no children, so we aren't happy to enter a restaurant where adults are out numbered. Our waitress was ok. She was very uninterested in being helpful or offering insight into the menu. I ordered the house salad with a crab cake. The crab cake is offered fried or broiled. I asked the waitress which she preferred and she said "it depends on if you feel like fried food or broiled." I opted for the broiled and she said "I would have ordered the fried, it has been one of those days." My husband asked her opinion on the signature club or flounder sandwich. She said "it depends if you like bread." Sigh. The house salad was ok. It was fresh and tasty with pine nuts and artichokes. The dressing was a vinaigrette with hints of rosemary. I ordered it with a crab cake. The crab cake was average. Nothing special. My husband had the flounder sandwich and he said it wasn't fresh and was over cooked and dry. Another reviewer said the food here tasted like airport food. On our way home I asked my husband who travels a lot if he thought it tasted like airport food. He said it depended on the airport. Don't waste your time going here, unless you are vacationing with a bunch of kids and are looking for somewhere other than a chain to go for dinner. read more
