Went last night with a friend for dinner. You order / pay up front and then find a seat, and they bring you your food. The service is really awesome -- and the people working there are very friendly and sweet. Plus, you get FREE bread when you dine in! The calzones are TOO DIE for. I've had the Veneziana Calzone (sausage, peppers, onions, cheese) and the Quattro Formaggio Calzone (4 cheeses). Both are really good -- Veneziana is my favorite -- and they are HUGE! The pizza is also super delicious too -- and wood-fired. OH does it make the difference! We had a medium Milano pizza (sausage, peppers, cheese) and it was melt in your mouth good. I do delivery. Never stepped foot in the place; BUT.... The folks on the phone? At the Spring Forest Road location are marvelous. They're friendly, polite and what the say for delivery times has been spot on each and every time. Strombolian is my "go to" Italian food place for delivery. I am not around the corner from them, yet the food comes hot enough to eat right away. They're specials are great. I've not been disappointed one time using their delivery service. read more

Definitely one of my favorites, and is our regular Friday night delivery go-to! The Pizza Santina is OUT OF THIS WORLD! (Hint: substitute the feta with goat cheese, and DEF request extra caramelized red peppers.) The delivery time can be a little frustrating and sometimes they get my pizza Santina wrong, but they always go out of their way to make their customers happy. My first experience at Stromboli's was picking up a couple pizzas to go. I also asked that they toss in some garlic bread when I realized how small the medium pies were. The garlic bread was pretty disappointing--small and super crunchy. I thought the pizzas overall were pretty good, but like anytime you take pizza to go, it's obviously not as fresh as it would be if you ate in. My second experience was taking my Mom there for lunch for a belated Mother's Day gift. It was around 12 on a Monday and this place was hopping! We didn't have any trouble ordering quickly, and our food was served promptly. (They are obviously used to a lunchtime rush). They had a lot of great, affordable lunch specials. I had the tortellini soup and house salad, while my Mom had Ravioli Sorrento and a house salad. It came to about $20 with drinks. This place is probably one of the worst places I've ever been too for Italian food!!! I ordered a Caesar salad, penne alla Vodka, and a pepperoni pizza. To start off, the salad was wet and the croutons were soggy and their was barely any cheese. The penne alla vodka was not terrible but not good. The sauce was watery and the pasta was mushy. And but very least, the pizza. The pizza was so thin, thinner than thin crust. It was so thin that once you pick up a slice of pizza all the sauce and cheese fell off. And the pizza was just bland and tasteless!! And at the end of the night my stomach started to hurt and it was probably from the cheese. And I asked some friends if their stomach hurts after they eat hear( cause they go to this place all the time), and they said yes. But they food is good that they don't care. That Makes no sense!!! Trust me I have had so much better Italian food cause I use to live in New York and my stomach has never felt this way after a meal before. I used to really like this place. The pizza and other entrees were pretty good. My husband and I have had dinner there as well as gotten takeout. While there, the service was great but that was about a month ago. I don't know what happened in the last 30 days but we had the worst food and customer service experience last night. Our food arrived 30 minutes late, was cold, the pizza wasn't even cut into slices and it was burned. When we called they offered a $20 credit towards a future purchase but that was it, so we wasted $30 and had to cook after all. When I tried to redeem the credit today the person taking my order was so incredibly rude and refused to deliver the order. I will never get food from this place again. Do yourself a favor and order from Sergio's or Dominic's instead. read more

My wife and I both got calzones, both were really badly undercooked. The vegetables weren't cooked at all and the bread still tasty like dough. Both of them were not terrible. Probably won't be going back for that in case they end up the same way. read more

Since moving to Northeast Raleigh from Cary last year, this place has become my go-to spot for lunch. I am something of a pizza snob and the pizza here is something I dream about, especially when I plan to eat lunch there the next day! Since I'm currently looking for work, I appreciate the incredibly reasonable prices. I always order the personal pizza, which is only $5.50 at lunch! It also comes with warm, house -made bread. Pizzas, calzones, bread, and strombolis are all made in the wood-fired oven. With glass surrounding the food prep area, you can watch everything being made. I keep meaning to order other things, but I can't seem to manage it since the pizza is so great. Watching others order, their food always looks yummy. This is one of those fast/casual places where you order at the counter and staff brings you the food at your table. Everyone that works here is very nice and helpful. With great prices, delicious food, and friendly staff, Stromboli's Express truly earns one of my rare 5-star reviews. read more

We came here for dinner tonight. We got three pizzas and three salads to share between the group. The queen mary pizza was interesting, but I liked it. It had a nice sweet and salty flavor going on. We made our own pizza with cheese, pepperoni, and mushrooms. We were impressed with this pizza, the crust was a nice texture and it wasn't too greasy. The salads were average- one was a garden, one a cedar, and one a pear Gorgonzola. Be aware that they really don't have any options for vegans- one of our guests is vegan and she got a pizza with no cheese, marinara sauce, zucchini, and garlic. There was like one piece of zucchini on each piece and the garlic was in clumps, not distributed over the whole pizza. read more

We tried this pizza place for the first time this weekend and will definitely be back. We knew it had to be good based on how crowded it was on a Friday evening. Great for families and couples. You order first and then they bring your food to you. They brought out piping hot and delicious bread while we were waiting for our pizza. Some of the best fast food Italian that I have found in the Triangle. Really like the chicken parm, chicken piccata, chicken marsala, and the pizzas. However, subs are mediocre and fries are a disaster. Also the service is pretty bad at times, swinging from indifferent to just plain rude. We have visited this location several times and love it each time! The staff is very nice and professional, especially one women we assume to be a manager. The staff always brings us bread and even offers to box up our leftovers for us! As for the food I only order the Stromboli so I can only speak of that. The crust is a medium thickness and is filled with your toppings, you don't feel like they skimp on them at all. I will definitely recommend this location over the other one. First visit we just happened to be in the neighborhood and tried their wood fired pizza, it was so good!! We tried the Margarita and pepperoni, as close to NY as you can get here in NC. If it was possible to give more than 5 stars I certainly would. I know this sounds like every other review but the staff is so nice, always welcoming, they always ask how I am doing. I can have a real conversation with team members and feel like they actually care. Not to be forgotten, the food is delicious and they have done many upgrades to the menu and ingredients used as well as upgraded to the different add ons that you can add to your food (spices, sauces, etc), the food tastes delicious and is unlike anywhere else. I have ordered here for years and several times I have been sent a confirmation of my order and an hour later when it hasn't shown up yet (on a Wednesday at 8) called for some girl to tell me there was never any order in the system. This happened again tonight. I've let the crappy service go because I do like the (overpriced) food but this is ridiculous. I've been trying to call them back but no answer, no apology, no offer of a discount or anything, even though I could very simply send them the time-stamped email that shows my exact order. They don't even have an email address listed so I guess this just falls by the wayside. As does the cold food, late delivery times, smashed boxes, and smoking drivers. Stromboli's is consistently tasty, but will occasionally drop the ball with delivery time or inconsistencies between the same menu items (ie. Have had awesome pizza, but some only so-so pizza, and definitely don't recommend their white pies!). So that is the ugly truth.... HOWEVER--their pasta dishes never disappoint: large portions, lots of rich flavor, pasta cooked well, great variety. I highly recommend their penne alla vodka (it's the one item that inspires us to call them). Also of note, the lasagna--lots of cheese, fresh, chunky sauce, and the meat filling is smooth and creamy. It's just delicious!! The Mac n cheese is also outstanding! And be sure to always ask for extra bread...these yummy wood-fired oven rolls that are excellent leftovers for little ham or chicken salad sandwiches!! Haha! My fiance and I love this place, easily our favorite pizza in town. We can't decide on one pizza to get together, so we always have to get 2. I always think, "maybe I'll order something new this time?" And then I get to the counter and hear myself saying for the millionth time "Danielle Pizza please!" My fiance almost always orders the supreme, but once in a while he shakes it up and gets the carne -- both are yummy. We like to sit and have a beer while we wait for our pizza, then take it to go. Visited this place for the first time tonight. I had the Greek calzone and my wife had the baked ziti. My calzone was well cooked and the ingredients were fresh. Just had our first pizza from Strombolis, a vegetarian, and we were somewhat underwhelmed. The crust was a little too thin for me, and despite being a brick oven cooked pizza, it didn't have the flavor that I have found in other BOP I have had. I was hoping to have found a new ace in the hole for pizza. A place I could hit several times a month, especially with football season coming up. This is not to say I will not eat here again, though. perhaps the second time will be a charm. read more

It's just a couple dollars more expensive than we'd like but the the food is darn good. Your meals come with homemade bread they bake in a wood oven. My bf had the pepperoni calzone they make with both ricotta and mozzarella. He really enjoyed it but would have liked it spicier. He was pleased that the pepperoni was not greasy. I had the spinach salad that is made with pine nuts, spinach, nice big dollops of Gorgonzola, raw red onion and pine nuts. The onion is sliced and the slices halved but my sensitive stomach couldn't take them raw. The dressing is a house vinegarette. A thick brown one. The bread was so good we took a dozen pieces for friends we're visiting. $2.75 with tax for a loaf of hot homemade bread. Took some of my Gorgonzola the vinegarette and olive oil in a small to go cup too. Will definitely visit again. read more

Well, I'm glad I have it a second shot. I had the same thing as last time. 2 slices of pepperoni. It was a different world. I'm pretty sure the sauce is fresh made there and you can't taste all of the ingredients. The crust had a nice texture, definitely fresh slices. Went in with a group of 13 of my co-workers. Many orders were incorrect. They brought out food one at a time but the food was inaccurate. "pepperoni calzone", someone would raise their hand, they'd hand the food and leave only for the person to discover, it wasn't a pepperoni calzone but a veggie calzone. This happened around 4 or 5 times with an additional person never receiving their meal at all. Around less than $5 for a slice of Pepperoni Pizza and root beer drink. Pizza size reminds me of NY pizzas. Little crispy crust and lots of pepperoni. This was my first time ordering from them. I would most likely order again because they deliver. My husband and I both ordered sandwiches. I got a chicken parm and he got a meatball parm. I'm used to traditional sub rolls and didn't care for the "fancy" bread they used. It reminded me of a panini or something. I took my chicken off the bread and it was great. It had the perfect crunch to it, had just enough sauce and cheese. I'm picky with meatballs and didn't like his sandwich but he liked it. My daughter had chicken Alfredo and that was really good. We had appetizers and placed orders for pizzas and main courses. Before anyone had time to eat a waitress started clearing the table. Grabbed a large pizza with only one piece gone and announce she would put it in a box. Then proceeded to take plates from our party saying she would get boxes. I have literally eaten at this restaurant since it's opening. Happily eating in, taking food to go; it was always the best. I eat out frequently and this is a three-five times per week stop. One of the menu items that continued to bring me back for lunch was their cold pasta salad. Perfectly al dente, bow tie pasta with the perfect amount of mayo, cheese....man! Trés bien!!! Today, I arrived and grabbed the usual sandwich to go, asked for the pasta salad (and the large to go tub I always get for a later meal!) and what came out was something completely sideways! So disappointed, I viewed an Italian salad (and after tasting it, not a good one) with meat in it. SOOOOOO DISAPPOINTED! I opted for broccoli this time, however, I will find another restaurant's pasta salad to go with my lunches and to go meals. I hope this is not indicative of other menu changes to come.
