    Bread pudding

Everything we ordered was absolutely amazing! We started with the shrimp and crab mornay. I had redfish as my entree and everything was seasoned to perfection. The crawfish risotto is definitely made with love- I'm talking rice & a tasty sauce that's mixed & overflowing with crawfish onions, bell peppers! My significant other ordered the 12 oz ribeye, lobster mac, & salad. The yeast rolls were perfectly balanced with a touch of seasoning, a crunch, & yet still soft. We had the bread pudding for desert & it was yummy as well. We picked the perfect restaurant to celebrate my spouse's birthday! Our server was top knotch. He went over & beyond to provide excellent service & great recommendations. Overall, beautiful atmosphere & wonderful ambiance. Highly recommend! Worth every penny.

TikTok recommended this place so I thought I would give it a try for a fancy birthday dinner. The ambiance walking in is astounding. I love the low lighting and intimate booth seating. Our waitress Ashley was quite sweet and quick to serve us. All food came out fast with minimal wait time. Everything was fine until it went downhill when we got the entrees. First off, we did start off with a lovely appetizer which was the chicken eggrolls. Honestly I could definitely say without question that those were the best chicken eggrolls I ever had in my life. The lime and the sauce that came with it was a perfect pairing of flavor and deliciousness. My partner told me he would come get these eggrolls for takeout any day of the week. Now to the entrees. We got duck Louisiana and the beef bourguignon. The duck itself was literally nothing but fat. I ended up having to take the fat out of my mouth and place it on my plate like a uncivilized human. The grits on the plate were enjoyable but the port cherry reduction was a bit overpowering at times. I tried my partners dish, the beef bourguignon, and found it to be ok but was lacking general flavor. The beef itself was slightly more edible than the duck. We found ourselves to still be hungry after dinner because of the disappointment and lack of finishing our entire meal.

The service was good when we got it. But to say it was somewhat empty in the restaurant it took a while for the server to come back to the table. The food was great, every dish. You have to try the rolls. The restaurant was intimate and somewhat romantic.

I'm kinda surprised by all the average reviews for this place. We walked over from a nearby hotel during a one night stay downtown. The hostess greeted us and gave us a second to look at the bar but it was very crowded so she was happy to find us a table. Our server was so energetic and knowledgeable about everything and she took great care of us. We both started with one of their smoked old fashioneds and it was delicious. They even brought the drink to the table covered so we could see the smoke. We started with the Smoked Salmon Dip and she suggested a side of hot sauce to add to each piece of bread. I have surprisingly never had this before and I loved it. It wasn't fishy and it was full of flavor, especially with the hot sauce. I ordered the 6oz Filet Mignon with a side of vegetables. It was seasoned perfectly and cooked just how I asked. I thought the steak was fantastic and I wish I ordered the bigger cut. The vegetables were pretty good as well and a great portion. Overall, the atmosphere is pretty old school/fine dining but it wasn't too fancy. Our service and food were all great and we didn't have any complaints. We will definitely come back on our next layover.

I decided to try this spot again. This time my husband and I went before going to a concert nearby. The service was good. I decided on the lamb chops this time and they were pretty good. Husband got the filet and he enjoyed the texture but it lacked the seasoning he was looking for. Also the temperature was warm and not sizzling hot as he would have preferred. We shared delicious bread pudding. Overall a great date night.

Shout out to Charles - the service that was given, the friendliness, representation of the restaurant, knowledge of the menu and ingredients was all excellent! Thank you, Charles! You definitely made our night. My partner and I enjoyed the entree's. The Filet Mignon was absolutely delicious! Super tender and each bite just melted in my mouth. A ten out of ten! Our meat specifications were met. The Old Fashioned was bold, rich, and very well executed. Our expectations were blown out of the window. The ambiance was intimate.

Went here to celebrate my buddy's birthday. The food was all really good. They gave us a free dessert for my friend which we all shared and it was really yummy. They warmed the brownie up which paired nicely with the vanilla ice cream on top. The atmosphere was good. There were multiple busy looking groups there which makes sense cause the there's a lot of law firms around.

We went there this Saturday before the soirée and it was a great idea. Chris was a phenomenal waiter and took care of us. I ordered the salmon and it was delicious. My husband had the filet and he said it was cooked perfectly.

Checked this place out for lunch. I'm always surprised how restaurants are empty in dowmtown Baton Rouge. Had to wait a while to be seated since the hostess was also a waitress and I think bartender. Very small menu but a lot of the lunch specials sounded good. I went for the Buffalo chicken sandwich and stroubes salad. Sandwich was crispy and spicy. Loved the blue cheese chunks. Salad was good and tangy but quite overdressed. Too drenched in dressing...usually I don't mind but the flavor of the dressing was pretty powerful. Staff was friendly and lunch prices are reasonable. Would like to check out their dinner offerings at some point.

I came here for dinner on a Monday evening after arriving in town for a conference. Once I checked into my nearby hotel, I spent an hour walking around and taking in the sites. There aren't many places open on a Monday evening and this place, which was near where I was staying, received good reviews. I traveled by myself to the conference, so I walked into the restaurant for a table for one. Please note that the place was not even halfway full. When I walked in and asked for a table, a server who was up there and the hostess spent a solid 60 seconds debating on where to put me. Talk about making me feel uncomfortable! Finally they settled on a nearby booth. As I was walking by, I smiled and made a small joke about sorry to be difficult. The hostess sneered at me. After being seated, it was a good bit of time before someone came to me. Of course, it ended up being the same server who was quietly arguing with the hostess at the front. I will say that the server ended up being very gracious and kind. But the experience I had walking into the place, where I'm already uncomfortable dining alone, made for an unpleasant experience. As soon as the server came to me, I ordered a glass of wine and the redfish. His attention was prompt for the remainder of my meal, and the food came out pretty quickly. The portion was decent and the sauce of was good, but the fish was a little dry. Honestly, I would have been willing to give this place another shot because I think that it likely has good food and the ambiance was nice, but the way I was treated when I first arrived completely put me off.

Great service and delicious food! We had the specials of the day which were cajun arancini and a New York Strip with seafood beignets and mashed potatoes. Not pictured is the salted caramel brownie with ice cream which was also divine.

The first time my ribeye was just as good as any steak I have anywhere, maybe except for one or two other restaurants. The second time while good, not did not touch the first experience. The butter served with the steak browned, maybe too much, and overwhelmed the steak. Both time my Wife ordered the filet on both occasions. The first time the steak was pretty good but this past time it was overcooked and the char on the outside was bordering on burnt. During our most recent visit I started with the wedge and my Wife the sensation salad. My wedge was good but not in the top 3 best I have ever had. My Wife was not pleased with the sensation salad at all. The sensation was very small and not enough dressing. We also ordered the Mac & Cheese and Potatoes Au Gratin. The Mac & Cheese was very good. It taste and looked a lot better than most of the pictures posted on Yelp. The potatoes were okay, not great but not horrible. The complimentary bread was good however, not close to even being top 10. We finished our meal with the New York Cheesecake. It was okay as well, you can find just as good of cheesecake at a lot of places.

The first food I got was the complimentary bread. It was nicely warm and the butter was super tasty. Then for my main entree I got the 12oz filet mignon. I would say cooked it was about 7oz ish. The crust was delectable and it was super juicy and had a hint of movie theatre popcorn. That's a compliment btw. Filet - 9.1/10 For my side I got the Lobster 3 Cheese Mac. It was soooo good like top 10 mac and cheese ive had. Maybe im exaggerating but I dont eat mac and cheese too often so it was definitely a refresher. The lobster was good too but there wasnt an awful lot, so i would consider paying $8 less for just the mac. Then dessert. I got the creme brulee, it was okay. Not the best creme brulee and if I was coming looking forward to it, I wouldnt be too satisfied. It was good though dont get me wrong, just not top tier creme brulee. Id lean towards getting the other options. I also tried the Banana Foster Pudding, it was warm and sweet with hints of banana but also cold from the ice cream. Definitely better than the creme brulee, so if youre between the two id get the pudding. Last thing, If you say you're celebrating something, theyll give you a complimentary dessert. It was like a chocolate cake with ice cream and raspberries. It was good, just a basic dessert but it was free so cant complain. The service was okay, thats the low point of the review and why its a 4 star and not a 5 star. It seemed like they didnt have too many waiters, but the few they had were working hard. BONUS: Alot of people seem to complain about the wait time. Which if theyre talking about wait time with the waiter, I understand. But the wait time from ordering 4 entrees and 2 sides was 27 minutes, which isnt bad and it goes by quick. The 4 desserts took like 12-15 minutes i think. Overall, im pleased with my visit. It was a good way to fulfill my cravings that I had. Juicy steak, cheesy mac, and good dessert. Nice environment, solid service, yummy food. Overall rating probably like a 84/100. When I come to a steakhouse, I expect the service to be amazing but waiting over an hour was ridiculous. There was also only one other table with people, the restaurant was empty for the most part. I loved my steak. I got the Cajun ribeye steak and as sides I got the lobster Mac and cheese and creamed spinach. The prices were very high. Just my steak was $69. Most of the sides were overpriced and the lobster Mac and cheese for $21 only had three small pieces of lobster. The creamed spinach was good. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and relaxed and very fancy. The vibe was very intimate and perfect for a celebration.

We were in Baton Rouge helping our grandson move into his dorm as an incoming freshman at LSU, and Parrain's kept coming up in our searches and reviews. We decided to give it a try, and I'm SO glad we did! We visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m., and when I tell you EVERYBODY and their family was there... I mean everybody! The parking lot was packed. There is plenty of parking, but there were so many people that we still had to hunt for a spot. Thankfully, we found one under a shade tree because it was HOT! When we walked up, we fully expected a long wait. There is plenty of outdoor seating for people waiting, and I also noticed they have both steps and an accessibility ramp leading to the entrance. My daughter and I sat down while my husband stood in line to put our name on the list. About five minutes later, he was waving for us to come inside! Apparently, many of the people waiting were large groups and families coming from church, but since there were only three of us, they were able to seat us almost immediately. HUGE plus! Once inside, it was BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. It took our server a little while to initially get to us, but considering how packed the restaurant was, it really wasn't bad at all. Our waitress was very nice, and I was actually impressed with how quickly our food came out. Now let's talk about the FOOD!! We first ordered the onion rings for an appetizer... super delicious I ordered the fried shrimp platter, and those shrimp were fried to PERFECTION! Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The meal also came with salad, fries, hush puppies, and a side. The hush puppies were SO GOOD! They are shaped almost like little donut holes... crispy on the outside and soft and savory on the inside. Delicious! For my side, I chose the fresh green beans instead of the dirty rice. Unfortunately, those were the one thing I didn't enjoy. They didn't have much flavor to me and seemed a little undercooked. Next time, I'll definitely choose another side. My husband ordered the fried catfish platter with dirty rice, coleslaw, and fries, and he loved everything. I tasted his coleslaw, and OH MY GOODNESS! Get the coleslaw! It was different from any coleslaw I've had before. It has whole peanuts in it, which sounds unusual, but somehow it WORKS! The peanuts add this wonderful crunch and flavor. It was SO good. And the French fries!! I've never seen fries cut this way before. They're almost shaped like little Scoop Fritos, with a crispy outside and soft potato inside. So unique and really good! My daughter ordered the catfish strips and fries from the kids' menu. These weren't processed little nuggets... they were actual pieces of catfish cut into strips, and she really enjoyed them. She also ordered the crab fingers, and those were another 10/10! They were incredibly well-seasoned with a little spice and tons of flavor. I tasted one and wanted MORE! I'm watching my sodium intake, so I behaved myself, but they were absolutely delicious. Overall, Parrain's was a 10/10 for us. The only thing I wouldn't personally order again would be the green beans. Everything else, from the shrimp and catfish to those amazing hush puppies, unique fries, crab fingers, and especially that coleslaw, was DELICIOUS. Yes, it was crowded and lively, but we still received really good service and didn't have to wait nearly as long as we expected. With our grandson now attending LSU, we'll be making plenty of trips back to Baton Rouge, and Parrain's has officially made our list of places we will be visiting again!

We were casually dressed and didn't feel the Ruth's Chris fuss or expense, so we headed to LongHorn Steakhouse on Bluebonnet--one of our comfortable go-to spots we hadn't visited in a while. This time we were especially glad we did. Arriving you could smell the ambrosia of meats cooking on the grill in the parking lot as you exit your vehicle. A nice, constant crowd and steady flow of patrons that were handled with real care by the two young hostesses up front, with a manager quietly floating about keeping everything running smoothly. While we waited, the bartender Kaitlynn G. handled her station with ease and a smile. Once we were seated, our waiter William S. was truly on top of it--attentive, courteous, and efficient in a way that made us feel well taken care of. The food came out hot, correct, and just what we needed. It was a very pleasant experience overall. Sitting there with the boys, enjoying a good steak without any fuss, felt easy and right. I hate to do it, but I'm not going to eat the steak that's raw when I order it mid well or medium. A couple of times when they told me that they were going to take my steak back and then remake my steak -for sure they just popped it under the broiler for a few minutes and that does not give you the same flavor or the same experience as a steak right off of the grill. I think that they believe customers won't notice, but I happen to be a discerning customer who will! When I order a filet I really want to think that it will come out right.
