Google and Apple Maps are wrong. The restaurant is right in the two story building facing Skillman street. We can't rave about this place enough. This was probably the best BBQ we've ever had. The brisket nachos are a must try and we topped it with their house sauce...*chef's kiss*. The slaw was creamy, incredibly flavorful, wasn't overloaded with sweetness. It was just perfect. We had pulled pork and brisket. Both were super tender and just melts in your mouth. The decor was as simple, rustic, and modern. It just had a nice BBQ vibe to it. Upon entrance, the host's greeting was very standard. It wasn't a genuine or joyous welcome. The host was kind enough to bring the kids high chairs to our table. That was nice. When our waitress walked up to our table, she sighed before greeting us. She then gave us the menus, etc. Again, this was very disconnected and standard. The owner was the most enthusiastic when he came to our table to ensure we were okay. My friend and I ordered the wings with the dry rub for an appetizer. The rub was great, and the meat was cooked just right. The ranch dressing was too salty, but it paired well with the jalapeno barbecue sauce. My brisket sandwich was good, but there needed to be more meat for the thick bread used. The waitress recommended the potato salad and was reassuring about its tastiness, but it tasted like something from a cafeteria. Then, it dawned on me that it tasted like a mediocre potato salad from the grocery store. My favorite potato salad from a barbecue restaurant is from Baker's Ribs. I ordered two kids' lunch portions: one with turkey meat and mac and cheese, and the other with green beans and bacon. The mac and cheese had a soup consistency. And it was just okay. The green beans were so salty that they were not edible. The sides served with the sandwich were good. The pickled onions, jalapeno, and pickles were great additions. I tried the banana pudding cupcake. The wafer was stale. And it tasted like a pound of sugar was used in the mix. This is not a kid-friendly place if you have small children. My friend and I received terrible looks from the other patrons in the restaurant, which made us uncomfortable. I understand that the place has no control over what other people do. And I didn't find the waitress to be as helpful as I hoped she could have been through the checkout process. The environment is stiff and uninviting to certain people. read more

When I tell you I've been all around the metroplex looking for good bbq, you can believe me when I say Strouderousa stands up with the giants. Not only is everything delicious, they have actual servers take orders and refill drinks and recommend menu items. I've been here 3 times now and gotten different things each time and Lord, I wish this was closer to my house so I could come here every day. Highly recommend smoked wings, ribs, green beans, jalepeno cream corn and churro cobbler (yeah you read that right. Bring on the diabeetus,I don't care). OH and the decor is awesome! Ok so I pull up and walk in, and there is no smell of bbq smoke. Suspect. I walk up to the counter and I'm told to have a seat, and a waiter will be with me shortly. Waiter comes over and I order a half pound of brisket lean/moist. Now, while the brisket didn't have any real smoke flavor, it was thick and super tender. It was really good. The bbq sauce was good too, spicy and mild. I like that they had Serrano peppers instead of jalapeño peppers. I haven't been to many bbq joints where you don't watch the cutter slice your brisket and you must have a waiter take your order at the table. I was a bit put off by that but the brisket was good enough to overlook that. I'd try this place again. Oh, the price is very reasonable, but whatever you save, you give to the waiter? Guess that evens out. Yeah, I'm not fond of going to a bbq place with waiters. That sucks. read more

For a BBQ restaurant to be all but standing room only at 2:30 on a Wednesday afternoon says a whole lot about the food. Everything is top notch and worth the wait. They could double the tables and still not have enough room for everyone The sausage is all hand made. It has a great taste. If they have it then definitely get the chili pequine sausage. It has a great kick. When it's paired with the jalapeno bbq sauce it's to die for. The deviled egg potato salad, jalapeno cream corn, and Mac n threeso are all great compliments to great meats. While they are only open Wednesday-Saturday it is a place to make sure and plan to eat at whenever possible! read more

I read the reviews and saw they have a 4.8 rating... and I decided to stop here because this is the only restaurant I've seen in Dallas on yelp that doesn't have any health violations. It's the one reason why I came, I don't go in places with violations, i had the brisket sandwich, deviled egg potato salad, jalapeño cream corn my partner has the smoked chicken wings, and the candied carrots. All of them were very good, the staff was friendly they seem to all help each other keep the place going... What a fantastic barbecue experience! Matt and Kaitlyn were awesome in serving me and get an A+ for service. The restaurant was very clean, with modern but laidback country decor. I started with the small brisket queso (wow, huge for a small!) which was spectacular. They absolutely load it with brisket and their pickled onions/jalapeños have a nice sweetness to them! I then had The Adam plate, which was two 1/2lb meats and two sides. I had the moist brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage and frito pie (whaaaaat!?) sausage since you can pick two sausages. My sides were the deviled egg potato salad and mac & cheese (with the three cheese queso from before!). The brisket was perfectly tender, smoky, and had amazing beef flavor. The sausage was fantastic, but oh my goodness the frito pie sausage was NEXT LEVEL! Potato salad was just as I like it, very mustard forward and the queso tasted just as good with some noodles as it did the brisket. Overall, a must-visit barbecue spot in Dallas and likely to be one of my favorites going forward! read more

We adore Strouderosa - I love having them in Lake Highlands so close to home too. They have became a staple in our routine and we've loved everything we've eaten and have had a huge chunk of the menu. My husband and I would die for the brisket nachos and we (and our little kids) think the smoked turkey is delicious, but really everything is wonderful. Picking up food there is so easy and they package everything with such care. I like to bring their food when I'm bringing a meal to somewhere/someone because they always help tailor to my needs.
