Sturbridge seafood does not get enough attention. It definitely has the best seafood dishes in the area and is much much more than your local fried seafood clam shacks. The chili calamari I could eat as a meal it's that good .the mixed drinks are tasty and fun and always something new to try . Came here as second choice to Publick House since that was booked solid. We were on our way home to CT from Boston and am I glad we found this place! What a treasure! As other reviewers have said, DO NOT be fooled by the simplicity and casual atmosphere, this place is first class in it's service, cocktails and food. We called ahead and were told it we be about a 30 minute wait to be seated, but were told we could get drinks from the bar while we waited. Got there, three hostess were so pleasant and told us the wait was still about 30 minutes. We asked about getting a drink and they sat us in the waiting area, took our drink order. The bartender delivered our drinks personally and they were outstanding! As soon as the drinks were delivered, we then got seated at a high top well with in the 30 minute time frame. Kudos for managing expectations. The clam chowder as well as the lobster bisque are everything other reviews have raved about. Out of this world! We ordered chowder fries, mussel pot and fall salad to share. All three were amazing. The servers were professional and efficient. Can't say enough good things! read more

I was initially hesitant to come - I had a late breakfast, it was so hot, getting in required barrelling through another parking lot with hills, valleys, and potholes... I changed my mind completely with the New England Clam Chowder. It was exciting! It had the traditional clams, potatoes, white chowder.... The unassuming exterior (think low-rent multi-family residential building) doesn't even hint at what lies within: a cute transitional-style dining room and some of the best seafood you'll ever eat. Trust me; I've eaten my way up and down the New England coast... and found the best fish and chips of my life all the way out at the wrong end of the Pike. Also enjoyed amazing steamers, scallops, and the Bloody Mary. Also, someone in the back needs to start a side business selling sauces; we asked for an extra serving of every aioli... The staff are friendly and just attentive enough, and the kitchen graciously acknowledged our compliments. The seafood is SO fresh and the flavors are absolutely wonderful! I had a local(ish) IPA & my girlfriend had an amazing Blueberry Lemonade cocktail. We were so comfortable. We ordered the clam chowder, oyster Rockefeller, two lobster rolls. We ate one and brought the other home because they were full of lobster meat wasn't the best lobster roll we've had may have been frozen lobster meat French fries were delicious as well. I have to say this is the first time I've been there with my friend Anita the food was delicious. Very good portions with some to take home. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The ambience it was a nice change of scenery. Pricewise I found it to be, reasonably priced for the time it takes to prepare the meal. I had the paella. Anita had the spicy Alfredo. Awesome spot. Based off the plethora of Yelp reviews for this restaurant, I had to give it a try. Came here with my SO and her sister on a Friday (reservation recommend) for dinner. Becky was our server and she was phenomenal. Had lots of suggestions on libations, popular dishes, and her personal favorites. The tower was delicious, fresh oysters and huge shrimp and tasty clams. I took Becky's recommendation of the seared scallops and it was incredible. Cooked just right with the slight sweetness from the butternut squash and sun dried tomato risotto. My SO loved her swordfish. All local veggies, light fresh fish and a beautiful presentation. The paella was quite the sight! Comes out in a piping hot pan and is absolutely filled with SO much food. Simply put, this was one of the best fish-and-chips meals I've had. My companion had the fried cod, and I had the broiled cod. We each had a generous serving of fantastic, piping hot, perfectly brown fries ("chips"). One of the key components that elevated this dinner, aside from the incredible freshness, the beautiful crunch of the batter on the fish, and the perfect done-ness of the cod, was the garlicky malt vinegar aoli. We also asked for a bottle of malt vinegar for the table and slathered the fries and the fish - the tangy vinegar just bumped up the flavor and made the whole meal sing. A true hidden gem, what an amazing place to get some delicious seafood!! We started off with a shareable: Mussels. And oh my goodness, like our waitress said, "the sauce is drinkable"!! It was delicious. The Mussels were cooked perfectly. I had the paella ( full disclaimer, this can definitely be shared, I was not able to finish the whole thing) and it was amazing! I wound up pretty disappointed. I think part of the building is a fish market, because the actual dining area was very small (like you were right up against all the other tables). Our waitress was also the bartender, so every time we wanted to order, get drink refills, get food, get the check took an extremely long time because the bar took priority. The menu isn't very long, but I picked the salmon which came with mashed potatoes and green beans. The weird thing was it was all stacked on top of one another which I guess looks more artistic but doesn't make a lot of sense taste-wise. The potatoes had honey mustard horseradish but it was SO mustardy it really overwhelmed everything, which ended up even effecting the fish and veggies because they were all in one pile. My boyfriend got the prosciutto wrapped cod, same weird pile presentation. The cod/prosciutto was nice together. He requested green beans instead of asparagus (which beans are usually cheaper than asparagus) but then there was a surchase to change to a cheaper vegetable and no mention of it when ordering. That was annoying. His potatoes had a "balsamic reduction" which boiled down to just an overwhelming balsamic taste that soaked into the fish and beans in the pile. For dishes running about $20-30, the service was really poor and the food was just weirdly presented with some flavors overpowering and then ruining the main dish because they weren't separated. Seafood is one of my favorite types of food and I'm always looking for new spots to try. With that being said, this place gave me a great first impression. I came here during lunch time - wasn't too busy but wasn't empty either. The space was very clean and tables were spaced out well. I ordered the clam chowder as an appetizer and shrimp basket as an entree. The restaurant itself is a little more on the pricier side but the food is definitely worth it! The clam chowder is probably the best we have ever eaten on either coast. The Caesar salad was delicious and uniquely served in a Parmesan bowl. MMMM!! The three fish tacos were flavorful and spiced to perfection. My scallops were so good that now I wish I had gotten their signature scallop dish instead of the fried one. The hostess was great even though we arrived 10 mins before closing. Our waitress was great and even gave us a few minutes to look over the menu before asking us for our orders. The food was fabulous! We had the Sweet & Spicy Calamari as an appetizer. Delicious! My partner had the Carbonara with Shrimp & Lobster and I had the Scallops with Pesto Risotto. Since I was between regular meal times, the place was *empty* except for two people at the bar. I asked to sit by the window and the hostess took me to a table by the wall. Folks, the place was e.m.p.t.y. I declined the table (a 2-top) and asked to sit by the window instead (a 4-top). I was dining solo and I certainly understand during meal times, you have to manage your table space. But during that 2pm slot, why not just give me the table I requested without hesitation?
