I bought a Groupon and thought that this deal was pretty good. Based on her Groupon ratings I thought that that was enough to validate this service. I was wrong! First of all, her Groupon discount does not make sense. It claims that you save 50% but she tries to validate all these extra charges so that you end up paying MORE than her original non Groupon price. For example, she charges an additional change of $10 for long hair, and there's a $2 credit card fee. And when you try making an appointment, she does not answer the phone professionally. She doesn't say that it's her business, so your first thought is, " if this the right number?!" She talks in 3rd person and never told me that she was "Carmen" on the phone, until I got to the salon, I was able to match her voice. She's an older lady, maybe in her late 50s. And unfortunately due to the language barrier, it makes it hard to tell if she fully understands the concerns I brought up, or the style I requested for. On top of it all, the parking sucks, since it's in a shared lot. And "her" salon is a rented room in a professional building which was tricky to find. Save your money, and time. I found Carmen via Groupon, and at first I was a little nervous. I gave her a call and it was a little hard to understand her but she was the sweetest lady. I made an appointment for the same day and she was able to take me in. I went in for cut and highlights. My hair was so long and definitely a huge mess and she was patient and attentive during the 2 hours I was there. She talks a lot, but I enjoyed it :) I am very happy with my outcome too! I was in contact with her per SMS stating 1 men and 1 woman will need the appointment and that I had Groupons. When we arrived, she refused to take both Groupons because my Girlfriend is "family" and the fine print should say somewhere that I could only use one Groupon per family (I could find this info nowhere). This place is at a convient location and the lady who cuts the hair is an expert at what she does, no doubt about it. However, if you plan on going with a Groupon voucher be sure to read all the fine print and bring a physical copy of it or she won't accept it. She also charges an additional $5 for hair last the bra strap, even if you have very thin hair and just want a trim. The language barrier between the two old us led to a slight conflict because of all these additional charges and she ended up calling me a liar. This women is rude, drama queen and a frustrated soul. I called her booked an appointment, and called her on the day of the appointment to reconfirm my appointment. She said she had my appointment in her book and that I should be on time for my appointment. When I reached there for my appointment, she was surprised and in a loud voice, she did that she did not book anyone in for the day. And then, I told her, that she did book me an appointment. Then she opened up her book and checked and said, yes there was an appointment. Then she asked me, what time is my appointment, so I said 1pm. And the clock was 12.55noon. Then she in a loud rude voice said, but it's already 2pm, my appointment is gone. Then someone mentioned to her, the clock is turning 1pm not 2pm. She said OK. She asked me to wait, as she had another customer. So I waited. Then in about 10-15min I asked her, can you give me an idea how long would I need to wait. She replied in a loud voice, that she doesn't know, and asked me to keep waiting. Finally after 25min delay, she took me in. Then she said, the Groupon voucher has fine print. And I had to pay more for my hair services. So I asked her can you explain what service can she offer and what cost. She rudely replied, I have already told you, you have to pay more, I cannot explain again. She said that it is not her problem that I was delayed. She said it's just 25min, not an hour, so she had no reason to be apologetic She may have some English language problem, but that's no reason for her to be so rude. Posting this for my girlfriend (who typically doesn't bother with reviews hence no Yelp account but making this review is important for her): I purchased a Groupon for haircut and color. Read the fine print and it indicated that it's ok to use the app (no need to print). I called her to schedule and requested Friday evening or Saturday morning. She kept mixing the dates up and was rude. I let it go and proceeded to schedule. Mistake number one. I called the day of the appointment and she accused me of giving her the wrong number. (My number is blocked and clicked on the Groupon app to directly call her-HER OWN NUMBER SHOWS UP when this is done-SHE DIDN'T RECOGNIZE HER OWN NUMBER? Or what she provided Groupon?). She said she cancelled the appointment but if I'm willing to come earlier, she can take me in. I proceeded. Second mistake. I come in for the scheduled appointment. She was late. The other lady at the salon suggested I give her a call so I did. She said so "are you in line"? Well, if I'm calling you to tell you I'm here and you're not...go figure. She gets there, no apologies. Immediately says where's your Groupon? I showed her the app and she went on and on about extra costs and it says that on the fine print, etc. (Her English is horrible so it's hard to understand). When I tried to ask a question, she said "maybe you don't understand English!" and pointed to a used Groupon printout. At that point, I got up and left. My haircut looked okay at the salon at first glance, but once I got home and gave it a fresh wash, I realized that this isn't the best cut for my curly hair. I told her I only wanted very minimal layers, and she ended up giving me pretty short layers that are very choppy, and also not even on both sides. She insisted that layers are good for curly hair, but I've never really liked them, and still don't. It also ended up being quite a bit shorter in general than what I asked for - I asked for just a couple inches off to remove my dead ends and wanted to keep it on the longer side (it was chest length at first), but it ended up being close to shoulder length. Maybe it was just a communication barrier, but she didn't seem to really care about what I wanted. I also just saw on the website that the haircuts should include a complimentary wash but I did not get one. She seemed rushed, even telling me she didn't get to eat her lunch because she thought I would come early... I showed her a picture from the internet that I found and she was able to match it just like the picture. My hair was left soft and one week later its still soft I love all the compliments!!! Very rude and hard to understand. My wife purchased a Groupon for me without knowing she has a policy that you can only use Groupon once as a new customer. I drove all the way to her shop and all she said to me was she could not accept my Groupon since I was a returning customer. I pointed out that her Groupon ad did not say no repeat customer instead it clearly stated you can repurchase every 180 days. She ignored the fact and said she would only do my haircut if I pay the full price. I skipped any arguments with her and just left. Not sure I understand why she acted so rude and impatient as if I was a homeless person begging for money. At the end of day, if it is my own business, I would rather make $12 bucks than nothing and have an angry customer leaving a bad review for my business costing future revenue. Carmen is one thug sitting out there. I purchased a $20 voucher on Groupon and had read the fine print very well. There was no mention about the rates which may vary depending upon the hair length. When I went to her she examined my hair and said she will charge $5 extra as my hair was long. I told her she needs to mention that in the fineprint etc.. I agreed to $5 extra. After my hair was cut she demanded $15 extra. She argued and started bad mouthing Groupon and forced me to pay $15 extra. Apart from that, she was very rough with my hair.
