Definitely worth trying out..I had The Godfather panini style and it was amazing, but my husband had the philly and wasn't a huge fan (said it needed more filling). Delicious sandwiches at a readonable price. The chaos in the kitchen was evident and the staff seemed pretty stressed out but I'll chalk that up to them wanting to get my order right. I have seen Sub Culture on Facebook now for a longtime. Never making down the Mayport 500 much I haven't had a chance to stop in. Well today I didn't have much to do so I ventured out. The place used to be take out only but they have since opened up a small seating area indoors. You just walk up to a window and before you know it a head will pop out and start talking to you. The owner who is from Miami is very nice and will explain or answer any question that you have. I was perusing the menu and was about to go with the GodFather Sub and he was telling the folks in front of me about the Cuban. He says I'm from Miami and I know a Cuban sandwich. He just put his little twist on it. Well they put their twist on it alright. Bacon and a aioli (mayo n mustard and garlic mix) combination was enough to take the sandwich from Cuba to Ohio for me. It was a pretty good sandwich but just not a Cuban. It did have pork and ham and pickles and it was pressed. So the crust was crispy and the pork tasted good but nothing special. I will stop in again since I have tome now. I think I will go for the Godfather thou. read more

So, my chief complaint would have to be that during my first visit I was not warned that the food is HIGHLY ADDICTIVE... I live right around the area and figured I'd give it a try - of course all of the yelp reviews are awesome so I figured what's the worst that can happen? Maybe get a bad sub.. whatever... BUT something far worst has happened, I CRAVE A PHILLY AND FRIES DAILY... but I realize I can't go everyday so I pace myself to weekly... every single sandwich I have tried are amazing... I typically get the Philly but the pastrami, the godfather and the chicken Philly are hands down the most amazing subs I've had and I was born and raised in New Jersey. I love this sandwich shop! If you live anywhere near the beach, you need to get over to Mayport and grab a Philly Cheesesteak from Sub Cultured. They use Boar's Head meat and bread from Cinnotis. They also carry yummy specialty sodas. There is a little inside area where you can eat. The owner is so nice too. Great prices for good food! Not to bad of a place but I think I like the one at home depot better . This one has alot of options but if you looking for regular dog/sausage go to the one at home depot. We had the Cuban and one of fries and Cuban to me was a normal Cuban kinda small but it was good and the fries was good but they didn't put anything on it like the pics show on here, the meat was no more then 2 spoons on top . Starting with glass of house Chardonnay for my husband (he loved it), I had the DELICIOUS Key Lime Martini (but in the future I'll save it for dessert -- seriously it can stand alone) -- incredible. Later I had their SoNapa Cosmo which did not disappoint; we then ordered the Korean BBQ ribs for an appetizer, expecting baby sized -- but they were meaty, tender and incredibly delicious and easily enough for an entree! Husband hogged the ribs so he ONLY ordered a House Salad (huge, beautiful and tasty with a lovely citrus vinaigrette) and I ordered the "special" Seafood Duo of deliciously and perfectly prepared Trigger fish and shrimp in a lemon, caper, beurre blanc sauce over yummy mashed Yukon gold potatoes that came with a side salad (Smaller version of my husbands). I was way too stuffed to eat a dessert but I really wanted to try their bread pudding so I got it to go and had it for brunch today -- did NOT disappoint and didn't share.... my husband did have his dark chocolate flourless torte after dinner and he didn't share either! Our waitress, Liz, was top notch -- friendly , informative and attentive. The solicitous General Manager, Sergio Roque, even stopped by despite his busy schedule. This place reminds me of times sitting with friends and fam and somebody is in the kitchen making lunch. That person peeks out and asks " want me to make you a sammich!?" The food is made to order... not fast food.... if you have other things to do besides wait for pure deliciousness keep movin. I had the poutine which was layers and layers of gravy and curd filled fries(I could eat these everyday!). I also had the Cuban which was very tasty, they didn't skimp on meat or flavor. My hub got a plain ham and turkey sub which was made of good bread and meats. I would not change anything about this place..... it will be a staple in our life! I've been here about four times now and am finally getting around to writing a review. This place may look like a hole in the wall, but the sandwiches are amazing and the staff is very friendly. Twice it was pretty crowded, so the other two times I placed my orders online and my food was ready when I got there. My hubby and I really like the Godfather sub with the Zapps voodoo chips.
