I have come here a couple times and although, it is kind of expensive I never had a problem until today. Halfway through the sandwich We noticed no one was wearing gloves. We were very grossed out and when asked about it they said they aren't required to wear them... with a lot of unneeded attitude. I don't really see how that is OK when you are handling food. No one even washed their hands between sandwiches! I couldn't eat after that, I tried to but the sandwich tasted funny, almost sour so pretty much the most expensive bag a chips I have ever bought hah. Can't say I will be going back there again. read more

Have been going to this shop for over 20 years. Best sandwiches ever. I drive all the way from San Diego up to San Marcos just for a great sandwich. Just found out they changed owners and the name of the place, Sub-Marine. Everything else is the same. Great food and great service. Will continue to go back for the next 20 years. read more

My family loves this place! Especially the squaw bread, turkey and avocado and their tuna. Everything is very fresh and they have a lot of options of meats, cheeses, breads and toppings/condiments. I also like that you can get something other than chips for the side, like the pasta salad. Their menu board has tons of idea options which is helpful too. It's always clean and friendly and a lot of food for the money. I personally love getting the lite lunch because it's a smaller sandwich with a side and it's the perfect amount of food. Whenever I'm in the area, I try to lunch here at least once. This is seriously the best sandwich shop I've ever been to. There's just something different and special when going to local delis instead of sandwich chains. Also, you must try the chili - delicious!! Really great Subs, awesome bread, good service. I had to remove a star, maybe a star and a half because they all don't wear gloves when making sammy's, and even refilling the toppings from another bin. I just don't think that is proper food handling when you touch different things like the meat slicer handle and then make a sandwich. read more

Submarina on San Marcos blvd, is fantastic. They have great sandwiches and the best service. My son tried to carry 2 trays to the table and spilt my water which soaked the buns on my sandwich, they immediately took it back and made me a new one. That is something they didn't have to to do, thank you very much will be back very soon and definitely more often. read more

This place is a mom and pop place that makes decent sandwiches. It's not nearly east coast stuff but not bad. I cannot figure why they can carry the submarine name yet not be a franchise. Their menu although extensive does not resemble the real submarine menu. One thing missing here is French dip sub...my favorite. But it's not bad really. Back east the good hoagie shops serve boarshead or thuman cold cuts but not here. Back in NJ you get your onions thinly sliced, not chopped and the oil and vinegar is not great. read more

We were recently on a college tour with our son in San Marcos. We used yelp to help us find a place for a quick deli sandwich. Sub-Marine, the correct spelling of this deli, had excellent reviews. Our experience was awesome. We were greeted with a warm welcome. The meats were hand cut for each sandwich ordered. Everything was fresh and delicious. The assembly line approach allowed us to customize each sandwich. We were in and out in just a few minutes even though the line was out the door when we arrived. read more

This place is amazing. Been here for years. I believe it's the original store which appears to be family operated. Which is probably why it's so good and the service is perfect. I eat here once a week, at least. A good friend of mine has recently bought and opened a Franchise of Submarina and within 1 year of business, he has been able to 100% pay off his loan and clear all his debts. Obviously, this is a great business with great food and service because a return on investment in a small business is rarely that successful. No matter which location you visit, you will be pleased and satisfied. Their ingredients are truly fresh! The ever so popular Subway is a joke. They talk about fresh, but if you have ever seen the meats and vegis they use, they come from prepackaged bags that are anything but fresh. Anyways, go to Submarina if haven't yet and you will be hooked. End rant. read more

San Marcos Sub-Marina is a family owned business and the food is great. (especailly the #14 with avo.:)) They have a wide variety of sandwiches.
