I drove 4 hours to buy my new WRX STI from this dealer over the other 19 I was negotiating with; including a Subaru dealership only 5 minutes from my house. That should say it all. I refused to pay a "market adjustment" on a STI and Mastro had the exact car I wanted on the lot. Seth was a pleasure to work with and it took a total of 15 minutes on the phone before I was sold and I drove over the next day to sign on the car. Showed up with a check in hand for a car that I did not even see a photo of, that is how confident I was with Seth. I have been around dealerships my whole life due to my father being in the profession, and this dealership is the real deal. No BS, no up selling salesman, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and no surprises. I was in and out in under a hour and a half. Just saw Mastro's reply, years later. Whoops. Anyway, so 1) I never would've discussed having insurance fix a scratch that was not part of the claim. The scratch was very evidently from a boot hitting the side my my car, not the engine replacement. 2) I never "drove off happy" after talking with my service advisor. 3) I did actually call and email managers, to which no one helped. So don't play that card. 4) the paint job you guys gave wasn't goodwill, that was owed as you damaged the car. It was a terrible paint job that needed to be fixed. For a second time. 5) I don't care how long the car was driven. There was no coolant in it. You all lost my business years ago and it will stay that way. You play the victim and somehow find a way to blame every customer. Not today, my friends. read more

So I had a scheduled recall today, my day off of work, and I brought my car in promptly at 8:30. I also brought my infant daughter, hoping this wouldn't be a long wait, and we proceeded to wait 3 full hours in the waiting room. After three hours, I walked up to see if my car was done. Apparently it had been done for the last two hours. They decided to call my husband's cell phone number when the car was done. He's in meetings which is why I went to get the car serviced. Mind you, they did not confirm that they were going to call. I had assumed that they would have come to get me in the waiting room, as they were doing to everyone else. This is quite disappointing. Subaru, for future reference, either confirm the cell number, or confirm the person. It must be noted that I was in a bright orange sweatshirt and the only one with an infant, so I stuck out like a sore thumb. Lastly, there was no apology issued and I was extremely nice upon leaving as I don't believe hostility solves anything. read more

Went in excited to possibly purchase a new vehicle. Had an appointment with a salesman wasn't there, arrived 15 min late to work. Kinda had a bad attitude. The manager the appraised my vehicle never introduced himself, and I'm aware they test drive the vehicle but I've never had one not ask for permission and not introduce himself only the come back and hand me my keys and say thanks and still not introduce himself. They lowballed my trade and were not willing to work on any part of the deal. Over all I felt they were rude and I'm not sure I would do business with them after that experience. read more

You're not dealing with people who just want to put you in a car and send you on your way; these are subaru fanatics that genuinely love cars and want to make sure you're happy and comfortable with your decision to buy a Subaru and make the deal with them. My negotiation process took all but two minutes. I never once felt pressured or uncomfortable with anything. They didnt try to play games with numbers - it was a simple transaction all around. They are really transparent in their pricing and how they do business overall. This was my first Subaru. We just moved to Tampa and checked out a few other dealership before coming to Mastro Subaru of Tampa and these guys have won my business for a long time to come. As long as I'm living in Tampa I wont be getting a car from anyone else. This is my second bad review, this is due to the service department doing a less than satisfactory job. During my 45000 mile service I asked the service advisor to check my battery because it was intermittent and presume weak. The service advisor assurred me that nothing was wrong with the battery, it checked just fine because that was part of the service. Low and behold on my way to Jacksonville aI stopped on County Road 236 in Alachua County--middle of nowhere... Oh, and by the way, Subaru Road side assistance does not work. 90 degrees bugs biting and with two small dogs I finally got someone to jump us off then the lift gate stop working. To make a long story short, if Mastro Subaru would have done their job this frustrating event would have never happened. I can let one bad experience go but this is the second. Needless to say I have not had a good experience with the Mastro Subaru service department. read more

Service center: this is literally the only bad experience I've ever had with anything associated with Subaru. I scheduled a simple oil change on my day off. First off, the person on the phone gave me a hard time about scheduling an appointment because he claimed I wouldn't need one and could just come use their "express service." Much to his frustration, I insisted on an appointment bc I didn't want to wait too long. I made a 2pm appointment, arrived on time and STILL had to wait 2 hours to get my car a simple oil change bc the car "in front of mine had issues." The people in the store were very kind but what is the point of an appointment if it's still going to take 2 hours. If you bring your car here, make sure you clear your schedule. read more

This review applies to service dept. Arrived at 9:45 for my 10:15 appointment for oil change and tire rotation. Being early, I asked is there a slot open for me now, figuring I would go for a cup of coffee etc until 10:15 if not. Service dept said "Yes, we can pull you into the service bay right away. So we agreed and I went into the customer wait area and waited, and waited. After an hour I asked service desk "Is there a problem with my car?", and was told "They are gonna pull her in right now, sorry for the wait. We will expedite things for you". I waited, and waited, another hour passed. Asked service desk and they said "just finished up, sorry, we got backed up". Service manager said "We'll give you 1/2 off for this visit. He hadn't looked at my file, because I have a service contract and didn't have to pay out of pocket anyway. He then said we will give you 1/2 off your next visit. I said no thanks, I am not coming back". The management of this operation seems to be totally incompetent. By far this was the worst "service" I have ever received from any car dealer, and indeed will not return. read more

Initial experience was really good with one salesman. However I had to deal with the internet sales manager, and couldn't seem to gain traction with him to get financing even though I had been approved for a vehicle loan through capital one and my credit union. Had to go through them, but vehicle was sold literally a day before I had all the "required paperwork" to get out of my other lease. Left a bad taste in my mouth and prob won't go back to the dealership for anything in the future. read more

Today marks my 10th and last visit to this location and I will never return. My last was less than satisfactory. I actually called the service manager and left a message and never got a call back. So today I went in to the Quick Service for an oil change, rotation, etc. After siting for over an hour I went to see what was going on a my car had been untouched. Had I known it was going to be 2 hours for a Quick Service I would have come back another day. When I told the guy I needed my keys I could not wait any longer he simply grabbed them and said have a nice day. I wouldn't recommend this service dept to anyone. I experience the absolute worst customer service whenever I visit this place for some reason. You walk into the service department and they look and talk to you as if you are bothering them, including over the phone. All I wanted was an oil change and tire rotation and an update on some parts that were suppose to be ordered for my car after a technician did faulty work on my car.... Go figure. Anyway when I asked for the update on the parts the advisor got an attitude because he couldn't find the order. A Technician literally walked up to the advisor and told him he saw somebody order the parts for me and the advisor pretty much told me to kick rocks and come back when the manager is in. There was another service advisor I saw also eating with a plate full of food while he was also talking to customers... Again, go figure. This all happened on Friday the 17th of August. Never seen so much unprofessionalism in one place. Needless to say I left without getting any work done even though I live 45 minutes away. I would never wish this kind of service on my worst enemy. The service department is so bad I would never even purchase a car from this place. Hopefully I can get in contact with the manager about the parts. But after I can pretty much say I will never return. read more

I recently bought a brand new 2021 Crosstrek from this dealership thru my autoadvisor program. Unfortunately, I hated the trim that I bought so a few weeks later, my auto advisor and I went back to the dealership to try and trade it in for a CPO version like the one I had purchased from them in 2018 with the better trim package. They were happy to sell me a CPO on the condition that I trade my barely used Sport with less than 1,000 mile car for $6,000 less than what they could turn around and sell it for! Even my auto advisor could not get them to budge off their low ball trade price! Apparently, customer loyalty means nothing to this dealership. I understand that it was my decision to buy the Sport trim but the fact that they wouldn't work with me at all when I was not happy with my purchase demonstrates how little they value their customer's happiness and loyalty. I bought my previous car from them when they were Mastro Subaru but I guess a lot their good sales people left and went elsewhere. The management there is horrible now. I went across town and bought a CPO from another dealership who gave me what my trade was worth and now has my 2021 car on their lot for what I paid for it since there is a car shortage. I wasn't asking South Tampa to take a loss, just to give me a fair price for my trade so I could offset my mistake. Do not get sucked in to a dealership that doesn't value its customers. There are plenty of other dealerships in the area who will treat you fairly and value your support. read more

When I moved to Tampa from Lakeland, I was so excited to bring my 2013 WRX for service after hearing only good things about Mastro, but when I came in for my scheduled appointment they told me I had to pay for a rental while they look at my car or wait a week for a loaner. I've never been to a dealership where I've had to "make a separate" appointment for a loaner car. If so, why was I not informed prior to the appointment? Waste of time, I'll just have to drive all the way to Canon in Lakeland because my repair can't wait. read more

I ordered my 2016 3.6 at the end of December and was told that it would arrive at the end of February. Chris Young, my awesome sales person, kept me updated and the timeline was updated to Feb 17th. The third week of January, he emailed me and let me know that it would be in early, Feb 3rd. I was going to be out of town and let him know I could pick it up on the following Friday. We set an appointment for a 12:00 pm pickup and the car was sitting in the shaded pickup area when I pulled in. So cool to see it was ready and they respected my time. The car was exactly what I ordered. LD helped with the trade in and final price negotiations - no surprises and very fair. Finance was very simple and got me a rate a half point better than my pre-approval. Chris did a great job with delivery, describing how to use the features and offering to schedule an appointment if I had any questions. To describe the process in a few words - transparent, fair, attentive - Highly recommend. They also followed up several times to make sure there were no issues. read more

I had a poor experience over the phone with Subaru of South Tampa today, January 2, 2021. A very kind gentleman named Scott had called me a couple of times regarding my interest in a pre-owned 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe. During my second call back to him, Scott was not available. The used car manager spoke with me, and was unprofessional. I simply and innocently asked "what was your invoice for the car" to get an idea of what they paid for it. This is a common question, and would help me in determining if their offer of $30,350 was fair in my estimation. The used car manager became instantly angry with me, and told me very rudely that it was none of my business what they paid for it! And then he said "what if we paid 35k for it!" I politely told him "I don't think that's a professional response, but thank you." I have never experienced such unfriendly and insulting treatment at an auto dealer in all my 40 years of buying cars. I do not recommend Subaru of South Tampa for this reason. read more

I found out I need to take a long trip and my car was due for service, was able to schedule an oil & filter and tire rotation for the following day (plenty of times avail). They greeted me quickly, walked the car, and I waited in the comfy seating area. The service was done quickly and the advisor walked through what was done, charges, and what I need to expect for the next time I need service. I have been so pleased with them every visit. ENGINE DEAD LESS THAN 300 MILES! Engine died before getting it home!! Leaving me with Thousands of dollars out of pocket! Purchased used 2009 Forester with 20k miles at Tampa location. Drove it home to Miami and died pulling into driveway. Had it towed to local dealer. Needs new engine. Dimitrios at Mastro told me they'd "make it right" and I asked how to proceed. Waited for call back on instructions. Days go by. Sales manager Dimitrios cant seem to be bothered with my situation. I have local dealer start taking it apart to confirm the diagnosis. 6 days after initial contact they say "oh we would've taken care of all of it but the other dealer is already working on it so too bad!" I contacted and emailed them many times!! No response until its "too late"! I'd like to think the problem was not known but the handling of this was very shady and seems very calculated. BUYER BEWARE. Was treated great until something went wrong. Now Ive been completely ignored and Dimitrios hasn't responded to me for a week. Ill update if they decide to step up. Bill H. We purchased our 2010 at Mastro. Though pleased with the car and to date with the service, my recent attempt to arrange recall service has been less than pleasant. The "schedule an appointment system" would not allow an appointment..... for weeks. There is no apparent direct e-mail contact to service. I sent an e-mail using the "contact" form. Though I received a confirmation-we will get back with you response and I responded, I never heard from them by e-mail as I requested. I believe I responded again but never heard from them. I sent another "contact" e-mail and have heard nothing. If this is now considered service..... we may be going to another dealer for service and someday, another car. read more

Just bought our 16 year old a car from Mastro Subaru. What a great experience. I requested information on his vehicle online and Tim promptly emailed and spoke with me on the phone. He was super to deal with and even sent me a personalized video that he took as he walked around he car. He pointed out the little imperfections (since it is an 08 vehicle), as well as the important things-AUX input (every teenager needs that!) We made arrangements to look at the car and it was in front waiting for us when we arrived. Matt was just as great to deal with- kind, respectful, and very customer service oriented.
