Ugh! This place makes me crazy. After spending 5 digits at Suburban renovating our home, it seems once you've paid, forget customer service! It has taken MONTHS to get one lousy piece of glass fixed in a pantry door. They messed it up. Now we had Thanksgiving with our pantry the focus of the party. It was enough that the glass was installed backwards -- with the door stain dropped between the frost (so not removable)-- now the amount of time that has passed to return the door is simply unacceptable. You might pay a little more, but I would shop elsewhere. read more

Did you see Ace Ventura when he was drop kicking a package all the way down the street? That's how I think my window was delivered. It was scuffed like crazy (and it's white) so I called the delivery sales person and asked about it he said, "Oh it will just buff out." I said I'd been buffing for 20 min. and asked why they didn't protect them better for transport. He said, "Is it vinyl? Well, you get what you paid for." Wha? This from a sales person. A little cardboard protection goes a long way, my friends. I wanted to give them a better review as the manager kindly honored my request to return the window after repeated requests with the sales person. The first window delivered was the wrong size although the correct measurements were provided to them. The second window was the wrong color (my contractor's mistake). ( The salesperson originally said no way could I change my order one day into placing the order (even though it takes 4 weeks to complete the order) so I thought I was stuck. Their sales people are not customer-service oriented. Perhaps they will prioritize this important part of the sale. read more

Worst company ever! First of all my door is supposedly costume made, so I'd expect high quality, but it's not even made to the specs my carpenter gave them. They blame us and the carpenter. Carpenter spends an entire day fitting it to the frame bc it's built too small. When it's delivered, the delivery folk bangs it into my brand new garage door making a dent in both the garage door and costume door. Then I notice another ding in the wood frame. Then I notice 26 nail gun holes in the thin 2 inch framing on the outside of the door-the feature framing all visitors will see. I sent it back. Three men call me/email me giving me a hard time as to why I sent it back. Are you kidding me? Once it's installed, after an entire day of carpenters fitting it, adding more wood to the frame, I notice the internal frosted glass has many defects. I take pictures, it takes them two weeks to send a rep, then a month goes by and I hear nothing from them. Nor does my contractor. They say it will take 10 days for new glass to come in. I am beyond frustrated. Do not work with this company! I should have gone with my gut and ordered from Lowes! read more

Hands down one of the worse customer service I've been apart of. On the door it says open Mon-Fri 730-5pm. My wife and I showed up at 4:32pm. We asked to look at exterior doors for our home. The old guy with glasses behind the desk talked to us like we didn't exist. While staying seated at his desk looking in to his computer he reply's " Show rooms closed at 4:30 sorry, look behind you for a door". Behind us was 4 doors to look at. What a joke. read more

I am FAR from happy and would NEVER recommend Suburban Door to ANYONE!!! I just ordered 10 doors and spent several Thousands of dollars. The rep who came out to measure, measured incorrectly and left me with ALL the door jambs of WRONG sizes. I contacted the company and they DID NOT own up to THEIR mistakes. Very upsetting.... you think these "pros" who come out to measure, would at least get it right. What's the point in coming out to measure if you're going to screw it up??!!! Now, I'm left with paying extra to an outside party to fix a mistake that NEVER should have happened in the first place. How about owning up to your mistakes and helping out the paying customer??!! I should have gone to LOWES!!!! read more

I was told about suburban door from my contractor. I wanted an oversized front door, they said they could do that. We ordered, they built one using rogue rivers base and it came 5 months later and it was warped completely with scratches in the glass as well. After arguing about this topic for a month, they sent out a "warranty" man to put up a level and tell us yes its warped. 6 months later and lots of arguing we finally got a door..of course with more money added to the cost...we now have had it 1 1/2 years and it is warped and the seams are not holding up...never wuld I use this company again. read more

First, the door arrived with multiple chips out of it. It also arrived the wrong stain color. So the people we had installing it requested a new one. Took two months for them to get a new one ready (apparently they had it ready for two weeks, but forgot to call and tell anyone). New door arrives, and there aren't any chunks missing, but it still isn't the right color. (Although maybe closer?) Way too dark, doesn't match the door frame at all. Oh yeah, and let's not forget that they tried to offer us $300 to keep the broken, badly colored door. If I'm spending $3,700 on a new door, frame, and side light, do you really think I want to save $300 and end up with a door with chunks missing out of it?! And just to add insult to injury, the cut out for the strike plate on the door frame is some obscure, stupid shape that doesn't exist in strike plates. It's 3-5/8th inch x 1-1/4 inch, which is normal, but the corners of the cut out are so rounded no strike plate that size fits in it! read more

I'm going through a new home build, so I needed to purchase a huge package that included doors, trim, shelving and hardware. The selection process went pretty smoothly and the rep who assisted me was personable and seemed knowledgeable. Part of the package included 4 exterior doors. One single door got "lost in the mail" and wasn't delivered with the rest. I still don't know if they tracked it down yet. The black french doors I ordered came with white window grids. WHITE WINDOW GRIDS! It was the first time I broke down in tears in the whole 15 months of building. For one, I was not asked to specify what color grid I wanted (not that I think anyone would need to? when you order black french doors you expect the whole door to be black!). But even so, you'd think someone would've given me a call and ask "is that what you really want?" Because NO ONE ORDERS DOORS LIKE THAT. And on top of that, the french doors don't hang straight. You can see daylight at the top and bottom of where the doors come together, but the area near the hardware rubs together. I have left 3 messages over a week's period before I heard back. I was then informed that they don't even offer black window grids. You'd think that would've come up in conversation, but it didn't. In addition to this, the interior doors I ordered did not come with the shaker panels that I asked for. I had originally picked out solid core doors, but then switched to hollow core to cut costs. But the sales rep neglected to tell me that the shaker style was not available on the hollow core doors, so he picked another style...also without telling me. My experience has been unreal - they refuse to do anything to make it right. I left a message for their supervisor over a week ago and have not heard back. Never have I experienced such awful customer service. read more

Excellent, honest company that has been operating in the area for years. When we moved into our new home, we decided to replace all of our doors and trim, as well as install a mantle above the fireplace. Suburban Door was very helpful throughout the selection process. Upon entering the showroom, we were immediately greeted and shown the various styles they have on display there, making it easy for us to make a decision. When we second guessed ourselves and ended up changing our minds afterward, they had no problem changing our order. Suburban Door provided the door handles and locks for our new home 10 years ago. One of the locks recently broke. I took it in and they were able to fix it on the spot. They were very courteous and offered me coffee while I waited. A first rate operation in my opinion! read more

I am thrilled with these guys. We were looking all over for a twin roller mechanism for a patio door made by Cascade Glass and were getting no where. Cascade glass would not sell these to us as we are not a distributorship. It was very frustrating as it was a 2 week pursuit and no results w a patio door about ready to fall off. I finally got a hold of Cindy and told her we were in the Tigard area and this needed to be done today as I had our maintenance guy w us for the day and Bang! she sent me to Cascade, put it on her acct for willcall and then gave me the good news that it was under warranty. This place has been a nightmare to work with. I assume because we are not a big construction company making huge orders they aren't that concerned with our satisfaction. We needed a specific item and we were referred to SD. They ordered the piece we needed then gave us a date about a week out that it would be in. Apparently, the wrong product was sent and they would somehow get us the right one the following day. Don't worry they said, we will call you when it gets here they said. That was a few days ago. We have been calling everyday and they "can't find it", "I don't know, I am not sure" is all we have heard. So today we actually went in and the product we needed was just sitting there. We had called 90 minutes earlier and they "didn't know" if it was in. The gentleman said he would go look and call us back. The package was sitting about 40 feet away from him. If you have no other options just plan on an arduous process. read more

So disappointed in this company. My contractor used their pre-finished moldings and doors in my project. The wood is awful quality and you can see dings and scratches on the doors and moldings that are covered by paint. Some of the pre-painted moldings aren't painted but just primed. If you clean them the primer just washes off of and so I will have to go back and get them painted. I waited years to remodel and this is what I get. read more

We just built a new custom home in Bend, Or. and Suburban Door is the only place my builder uses. My entry doors and so many dents and splintered areas and after my builder tried touching these areas up, it looked worse. After a couple months of battling with my builder about replacement , they both split and sap began to come out! So after we wait 6 months for new doors to be stained, they also are delivered to my home with multiple dents and 2 even larger splintered areas, of course they are lifted and catch on anything I use to dust the doors with. So again, I'm arguing with my builder about replacement and he knows that these issues were there before they were stained and now he is going to have to pay for the replacements. This morning, two days after they were delivered, I go outside to wipe down my entry outside lights and see something on one of the doors.....it's cracking and sap is bubbling out in 7 places! Looks like I'll get new doors! I think we will be going there ourselves to pick out the door....taking pictures of what I choose and that way I have proof that anything other than what I have on photos, wasn't there before. Central Oregon needs another supplier! read more

I am really sorry to see the poor reviews for Suburban Door. My ex-husband and I had a custom home building business and we used Suburban Door exclusively. We NEVER had an issue with their products or service. I think sometimes the problem with Yelp is that people don't take the time to write positive reviews, they only write reviews when something goes wrong. Not discounting the issues that other people posting had, I just know we did business with them for about 14 years and never had a problem. We built houses that ranged in price from $250,000 up to $1,500,000. read more

We ordered about 10 doors for our house on the Oregon coast. Interior hallway and pocket doors. We ordered them unfinished and picked them up ourselves. quality and service was great. Would order again from them. Very satisfied customer. read more
