Typical subway fast food restaurant with highly processed everything that can possi be processed: meat, cheese, bread. The bread is average, not stale yet not super fresh. The workers don't speak much English yet they try their best. Subway is now kind of expensive for what it is. Footlongs run from $6 to $9 although they do offer a footlong cold cut made from turkey that is acceptable. Very few tables indoors yet 3 or 4 tables outside excepth the birds frequent the outside tables. Not very sanitary or appetizing. I prefer to eat at the Good Pizza in the same strip mall. read more

[those of you with a dirty mind now know who you are] And as far as assembly lines go, I LIKE assembly lines. My car (and yours) was made on an assembly line. My Chipotle burrito is made on an assembly line and consequently that long line tends to move at a decent pace. No, there is something far more sinister at work at Subway. To paraphrase an old lady from a certain popular fast food commercial circa 1984, WHERE'S THE MEAT? If aliens landed on Earth and were presented with a Subway turkey sandwich, they would come to the conclusion that the turkey was a condiment, or at best, an accoutrement, but hardly the main ingredient. Not only that, but each of the meats is pre-arranged in thin slivers wedged between waxed paper, so that Subway ensures that you receive only 1/8 inch* of turkey in that turkey sub. * Estimate only, but it's pretty damn skimpy. I routinely go to this Subway for sandwiches. The place is very clean and the food is kept nicely in organized bins. As we know, Subways can vary. Some are clean. Some aren't. It is much like other Subways. My rating is based more on the convenience factor of it being close. It is a sandwich shop after all and not Spagos. I make trips to this Subway pretty regularly. The thing that has struck me after going there for years is how friendly everyone is. It's been like that for a long time for me, and some employees are the same but there are some new faces that I see over time. Last night, the guy who helped me was named Francisco, and he was super friendly again. He asked me several times about things that I might need and really left me with a perfect experience. For example, I didn't want to take one of those plastic bags but he said you would still like napkins right? And also, I didn't want to get a drink because I had something in the car, but he still offered me one of these small cups for water and said I just don't want you to leave thirsty! There were 2 new workers who I do not recognize at this Subway. I usually go there once a week in the morning for breakfast. Today 3/31/10, they did NOT give me a receipt and just used a calculator. I briefly mentioned that "The register is down?" but there was no response. Also Usually I do not pay tax on the sales. Today they charged me tax and did not give a receipt. I was in a rush so I did not push the issue. Also the coffee was AWFUL and COLD. I suspect that the workers are pocketing the sales. I am very reluctant to go to this store again. There are 2 other Subways on the way to work and very close by. IF you can not hire workers with integrity, I probably should skip going to subway ever again. It's the first Subway where I've felt motivated to tip because they are so friendly, generous with the ingredients, and efficient. Even when the place is long (rare) I've never waited long. (But yes, it's a very narrow line.) Ok, how excited was I to find out that a (Subway) was opening in Playa del Rey. I've lived here for a long time and love to be able to run over to that strip mall and have my needs met quickly and in a positive manner. Lets just say Im dissapointed, almost everytime I go there. I ask for I would like on my sandwich, which is exactly the same everytime. I ask them for a lot of lettuce, Its as if I was asking for an extra piece of turkey on my sandwich. I want some more lettuce. Whats up with an attitude every time I ask this location, or better yet only a few of the staff membersfor a lot of lettuce. They have an attitude and I want a friendly server because I'm the paying customer..... is that too much to ask for at a subway. Its not only lettuce, go in with a coupon and oh man, its hard to interpret what the coupon offers, and and the server doesnt know what it means and if he does, its not what you interpret so lets just forget it and get the usual. I just want to vent and tell the owner that he should have a mystery shopper in this location and see if he believes his servers are giving the best service. I ate there today. My coworker chose the place. I chose a cheese steak sandwich. What I got was the most disgusting pile of crap I have ever put in my mouth. Gray, stale meat that was so dry I needed to guzzle water to choke it down. I had to buy another water at Home Depot to wash it down. How many times have they refrozen this? Thank god you only get a half ounce of it. It is literally a tablespoon full. Even the cheese had no taste at all. It was just petro-cheese. It looked like cheese but in reality it was just tasteless goo. The bread was seemingly fresh but in somehow managed to not have so much as one molecule of water remaining in it. Quite a trick. I am serious, this is absolute GARBAGE. There is an AM/PM just down the road. They have far better food and I mean it. I'll stick to their corn dogs and tuna salad sandwiches next time. I will never eat at another Subway ever again. This was just revolting and it should be a crime to sell this stuff for money. My coworker said "complain and you get a coupon for a free one."
