I have been coming here for a haircut for several years now, and I have not been disappointed. This place is near downtown, and it is only $10 per haircut for men before tip. I am not sure on the stylist's name, but she is the owner and only stylist there. There have been several times where her sister helped out with haircuts. My hair is always cut the way I like it, and I would definitely continue coming here for my haircuts. The only thing that was an inconvenience was that they accept cash or check only. Stylist had a client before me, she finished haircut/client paid/left and it was my turn. Yay!! The Stylist half-assed cleaned the station w the blow dryer before I sat down (leaving the last clients hair on the floor) I didn't say anything about that, it's whatever, I just needed a cut BUT I later regretted not saying anything bc after the haircut i met up with my new employer and I had white hairs all over my black dress (from the previous client). The cut was quick and I felt very rushed. I think the stylist had somewhere to be. I left thinking then what's a 8 dollar haircut there? A trim to your sideburns? Oh well‍ I walked in at 1150a, sat on the chair at 1200p that's when my new employer text me. I replied to him after the haircut, and guess what time that was!? Yup, 1204p Smh. Yes I have proof. I met up with my new employer at 1230p. Thank goodness I had tape in my car (from moving) and that helped with taking some of the white hairs off my black dress. I finally get home, and look myself in the mirror. Bro! What the H, E, double hockey sticks!! The stylist got me over here walking around like the grandpa from The Adams's Family‍. The sides of my head for some reason looked /were even longer from when I walked in. I guess it was cuz of the way she cut it, now the hairs on the side of my head are sticking out. But why? I asked for my sides to be shaved, I asked for a 1 actually. Funny enough when I was home and looking at my haircut my sister happened to FaceTimed me and she clowned me so hard she said what's up w your sides bro I was embarrassed. Sadly that same evening, I had to give my money to SUPERCUTS and have them fix me. Will I stop by salon again? Eh, Yaa, maybe. I ain't a hater, next time maybe the cut will be better. I am disheartened to write this review because I have coming to Sue Hair Design for the past four years and is where one of the few people I trust to cut my hair. No one showed up to the shop an hour in of me waiting first in line, and two other customers behind me had left and there were countless phone calls ringing in the closed shop. The lack of punctuality from the owner has been consistent, if I'm being frank, but it is difficult for me to see past an hour of being late, unless there were exceptional circumstances, from posted operating hours on your own shop. In addition, it's just so unprofessional and a loss on both ends for staff to not be on time. I've been here a couple times and have been really happy with my haircuts. I usually see Luanne here but today I met her sister, Sue. Both sisters do an amazing job and are so pleasant to chat with. I gotta say there is quite a price discrepancy though, depending on which sister cuts your hair. Last time Luanne cut my hair (pretty long hair and a lot of it) for $25, and she styled it for another $10. I was also told I could get my bangs trimmed for 5 bucks, which is what brought me back in today. Sue did a really nice job, but it turned out to be $20 to trim my bangs... and I'm not really the kind to argue, but it was such a big price difference and more than I was ready to pay for. $8 bucks for a haircut! The hours might not be the most convenient (they're open till 5:30pm now), but it's the quickest quality cut I have had in a long time! Not sure how they cut women's hair, but looks like Luann has the men's haircuts down. I was in and out in 20 minutes and 5 of those minutes were spent laughing at the stories we were sharing. If you are a guy w/ a complicated hairstyle, this might not be the place to go. If you want to clean up them lines and look sharp, this is your go to place! Small place, maybe 6 chairs for waiting, 2 hair cutting chairs, one woman and then a child looking at her phone but would get up and sweep hair on the floor after each person was done.. I asked for a trim. Trim the layers as well. The woman was a cute little Asian chick. She didn't small talk me and that was cool. She just talked about my hair. She did try to sell me on products but wasn't pushy about it. I just wanted a trim. And by trim, it's not a lot and not drastic.. and that's exactly what I got. A style and dry was not necessary but I got it as well. So.. trim, products in hair, and blow dry costed me $25 I would have liked to pay less but it's not $50+ so I'm cool. read more

I got an awful haircut here from Luann, she does not have adequate training to do anything besides basic cheap hairstyles. That is why most of her customers are guys or old ladies. Warning! She does not know how to layer hair! When I got upset that my hair was ruined, Luann added insult to injury and began berating me and criticizing my appearance and personality. If it weren't for Yelp leading me here, I would've been a little nervous about all the blue haired ladies waiting for a haircut when I first arrived. Do they offer an early bird special or something? What brought me here was the promise of an $8 haircut. What will keep me coming back is Luann and her amazingly quick yet efficient skills and friendly outgoing attitude. It's a tiny two chair studio with several plastic chairs lining the wall to wait for your budget haircut. There's no beer or playboys to "read" like at several other barbershops throughout the city but for a 3rd of the cost, I don't mind. I'd rather grab a pint of beer at any one of Sacramento's fine breweries after getting a fresh cut from Luann. Even though I was third in line, Luann got to me within 20 mins or so. She is incredibly fast with the shears, yet gets the job done properly all the while carrying out a full and friendly conversation. Unlike most Vietnamese barbers that I prefer to go to, her English is flawless. My hair is so simple and I'm not picky that I actually appreciate that she is quick and charges rock bottom prices. Especially considering how close to downtown she is located. I may not be from the area, but anytime I find myself in Sacramento in need of a trim, I'll make it a point to drop in at Sue's to see Luann. I came here because of two reasons, my bf told me that it was only $8 and also because I love how his haircuts turned out. I have got to say..I am impressed! Because of my weird egg shaped head, usually most barber shops butcher my haircuts. Sue, however; surprised me with her quick and efficient skills. She even kept talking with me the entire time. ^_^ her English is fluent and I had no trouble communicating with her. I came here right after work and also before heading to my first class so I was under time constraints. I am very happy at how fast she was. I hate paying $35+ for haircuts so this salon caught my attention based on its good reviews and because other girls' reviews stated how inexpensive it was. The stylists of the salon were cool and relaxed, which made me comfy. Its a small place, kinda hole in the wall, but that doesn't bother me. I was a little put-off by all the hair on the floor from the previous haircuts (it was a lot of hair though!), so it was sorta slippery to walk on and made the place look untidy. My cut came out exactly how I wanted it and the stylist's tips/suggestions were very appreciated. My only gripe...how come I ended up paying +$30?? Not as affordable as the other girls reviews were stating. I know I should've asked about prices beforehand, and could've questioned it after she told me the price, but I'm so fearful when it comes to complaining. Was it because I had long hair? I didnt get a shampoo either, so I don't know why the higher price. I really like the stylists and my cut was great, but I'm going to have to call and ask ahead of time about their pricing. I needed a haircut badly since I have a lot of split ends. I wanted to try a new salon because salon bravissimo is getting more & more expensive for me. So I yelp'd around and saw Sue has amazing reviews and it's only $12! So I said, why not?! She's busy so it's better if you make an appointment. If not, walk ins will have to wait maybe 10-15 mins. She's very fast so even if it looks like there's too much people waiting, it's worth the wait. You'll notice that it's a very small, old salon. But it has everything you need! She does cut, color, perm and even eyebrows! She had an appointment to go to But she insisted to cut my hair before she leaves because she said I waited for her so it'd wrong for her to just tell me to come back. (I walked in BTW, no appointment ). I told her what I wanted and she cut off more than what I'm used to...which I was scared at first. Because at salon bravissimo, Denh cuts my hair literally piece by piece. And since I'm trying to grow my hair out, I wanted to keep the length But cut off split ends. So I was a little shock when I saw the scissors chop off quite a lot of my hair. But that gave me lots of volume and layers which is exactly what I wanted. When I got home, I wasn't sure how I feel about the haircut. It was something new. But after I washed it, and restyle it, it was exactly what I wanted. I think it just look odd because she didn't have time to shampoo my hair. Overall, she's cheap, fast & gives great cuts!! I'm definitely going back. That also means that her rent cant be high and she passes the savings to us. oh yeah! She is fast and outgoing and she can do a mean fade. I have been going to this Salon for sometime (at 8 Yrs.) and Luann (the owner) has never changed her prices, the quality of her cuts or her great attitude. She always takes her time, uses scissors and clippers to get the right look. She also cuts my wife's hair and always gets it right. More importantly she listens, and gives salon style haircuts at the lowest rates in town. Sue Hair was the business name when Luann bought the business and she kept the name. She is a first class hair style artist: for men, women and children (my son gets his haircut here also-11Yrs young). She can do an genre style cut, style, color, etc. Also waxes brows...hey! came to sue's hair design at a recommendation of a friend and i was not disappointmented. just moved from the east coast and it is always hard to find a new barber than can cut hair the way you liked for the past few years. she is extremely efficient, fast, friendly, and does a quality job. i upgraded to a wash also and it was very thorough and calming and relaxing. she washes your hair about 2-3 times with shampoo/conditioner, well worth the upgrade. my price for a men's cut with shampoo was $14 cash. She really works her magic and tries to get your desired cut. She is friendly and skillful. The price is very reasonable for male haircuts too!
