I love breakfast and quirky restaurants. So I was very happy to discover Sugar & Spice (can one "discover" a place that's been in business for 76 years?). Anytime I drive but a place with a statue of a giant pig holding a plate of pancakes on its nose while also sitting on top of a giant stack of pancakes, which itself is surround by smaller pigs running around it.....I'm gonna stop and see what's inside. There's plenty of parking. The entrance is in the back, away from the street. I walked all the way around the building to figure that out. When I stepped inside I was surprised to see how small the restaurant is. I would guess there's probably only 6-7 colorful, but tight little booths and 15-20 bar stools around the center counter. Expect to wait in line for a seat. But it's worth it. Their specialty is thin stacks of pancakes. You can get a half order of 2 or a full order of 4 pancakes. I ordered the full plate with blueberries. Yum! Plenty of blueberries. (I was told they also make little silver dollar-size potato pancakes that aren't on the menu for those in the know. I'll try those next time. S&S is also known for their omelettes. The waitress told me the Mexican omelet was the best thing on the menu. So I had to try it too. What she didn't say was its big enough for two. I enjoyed it a lot. It had a good amount of chorizo sausage in it, who's is my favorite. I are as much as I could but ended up putting half of it in a take-home box. My companion ordered the breakfast burrito and was happy with her. She also took half of it home for later. Another unexpected surprise was our choices of hot sauces. Most restaurants will carry Tabasco brand and maybe one other too. But S&S probably had 4-6 brands of hot sauce to choose from. The walls of the restaurant are covered in bright and humorous murals of breakfast items. And above the door area there are shelves and shelves of tiny rubber ducks dressed in different costumes. Rumor has it that the owner hands out these little rubber ducks on Sundays. However they appeared to be out when we were ready to leave. It could have been because we arrived later in the day for them (they close at 3 pm). We will definitely return to try out some of the other item on the menu. I'm from Washington, DC (the actual city, not VA or MD) and I speak pridefully of my hometown. But if someone asks me about a known restaurant in the city like Ben's Chili Bowl, I will tell them you go for the experience and not the food. It has fallen off since the original owner passed. See, the truth will set you free. Folks this place is not good. When I saw the wait I got excited. Places with long waits typically means great food. When I got my food I was insulted. I could've made a more impressive meal at my home. Don't believe. Come to Newport and try my banana fosters French Toast. Blow your socks off. My order of french toast at this place looked like they were made in a grade school cafeteria, and my omelette was a joke. I'll say this. If you're from Cincinnati or love most restaurants here, you'll love this place. Please enjoy it. I've been here a few times now and usually pick this place anytime I want to meet up a friend before work to catch up since it's close to work. The location isn't that great and it's kinda easy to miss in the morning since the signs aren't that big or lit up, but it's why I like coming. I don't have to worry about lines. There's not too much space inside but they manage to be quick and I haven't ever seen people waiting around. I don't really recommend this for large groups but more intimate dining. The atmosphere is interesting with some of the decor and collection of rubber ducks on the walls, but it's definitely colorful and fun. The staff is also friendly and attentive. I'm usually in and out of there within 30-40 mins. This is definitely your diner style food. Mostly your basic breakfast items, but I like the homestyle flavors and menu items. They have a great selection of omelette. The proportions in my mind are huge and I always have at least half my food as leftovers. They also make a good cup of just basic brewed coffee. The prices seem a little high for the type of food, but I guess the proportions make up for it. This is definitely not my favorite breakfast diner, but due to the location and atmosphere I decide to go here a few times throughout the year. read more

Tried this place for breakfast today, was very happy with the experience! This place was very cool, the owner would walk around and pass out samples of food like corn fritters, brownies, fried mac n' cheese and ice cream but he only gave ice cream to the ladies, haha! The staff was awesome, friendly, nice...etc, etc.!!! They also go around with a bucket of small rubber ducks to pick from that you get to keep to take home! The food was excellent and not very expensive. I will tell you this, when I first pulled up in the parking lot they already had a wait sitting outside and a wait inside, but that gives you the appearance that this must be a popular and great place to eat! Sugar n' Spice is just so CUTE! "Cute" is the absolute best word to describe this vibrant, colorful breakfast/lunch diner. The bright pinks and greens inside, the collection of rubber duckies on the wall, and the old-school diner clientele make this a place worth checking out. The food was good, normal diner breakfast food so nothing truly magical going on there, but it was served quickly and everything was prepared the way it should be. I came here with a coworker bright and early at 7am on a weekday, so I can only assume that the people that come here on a weekday (mostly retirees, regulars dining alone, and a few guys getting a huge breakfast before a long day of work) are pretty close to the same group that will come on a weekend (minus people nursing hangovers). There was no wait for a table, but like I said, I was there right when they opened. We sat at the bar which was great for two people. I would highly recommend the whispy thin pancakes. I ordered the breakfast special ($8 for two eggs, pancakes OR french toast, bacon OR sausage), and those pancakes were definitely the highlight. They were sweet, soft, and very thin so they were somewhere between a crepe and a traditional pancake. YUM! We casually hinted that we heard they gave away rubber duckies, and they brought the bucket of ducks over to us to pick one! If you want a duck, I think you have to ask. Another great find courtesy of the mobile Yelp app. I never would have found this place otherwise. Like Anjelica, I ordered the Greek Gyro omelette ($11.50), and holy cow, the first bite made me pause as I asked myself, "Is this the best omelette you've ever had?" To which I replied Yes... it is. And fortunately, it was the size of a newborn which meant leftovers. Two meals for the price of one, not bad. And sorry for the newborn comparison, its just that the omelette is that big and I am writing this at almost midnight. Okay, it's the size of a small loaf of bread, phew. There we go. The massive size and perfectly flavored gyro meat alone make it a winner, but the fact that it came with enough tzatziki sauce to drown Ulysses, I was in brunch heaven. The kitschy rubber duckies that line the walls and the retro murals make this a place to put on your short list. FINALLY, I have gone to the ever so talked about Sugar N' Spice. Today my mom, her manfriend, two of his "kids" (They are in college) and I went to get brunch here. I knew it was going to be busy from reading other reviews but every place for brunch on a Sunday in Cincinnati is going to be packed. We went in and were told it would only be twenty minutes. So we stood in the small crowded restaurant and waited. It did not take twenty minutes, it ended up taking an hour. Which is frustrating but once you've been waiting for twenty minutes and smelled strangers horrible B.O. , you may as well wait it out. The issue is that it's a really small restaurant. They have only so many booths that only fit four people and they can stick a chair on the end to make it five. The booth we actually sat in had an extender on the table, so it sat all five of us. They have a small bar, diner style area. You don't get sat by the order you came in. You get sat by how many people you have, what the number of spaces are open, and then in order of how you came in. So we had five people, everyone who had two, one, or three people anytime the bar opened got seated automatically. Which makes sense for them to keep the flow going, but it sucks for everyone else. I think I watched six different groups of people get sat and eat and leave in the whole time we were standing there. While we were waiting, though, one woman kept walking around with cheesecake brownies and fried macaroni bites. This was nice, and she was really sweet and kept calling me "Baby Cakes". Haha. The food was really good too. The fried macaroni bites were delicious. After standing there for an hour though in a small warm restaurant, I wish they would offer you a glass of water. It was brutal staring at cups and pitchers of water sitting in front of me, and how thirsty I was. My thirst was SO real. We were sat and we had glasses of water, but no straws, and we didn't see our waitress again until she came back to take our order. So about ten minutes later. Then we told her what we wanted to drink, I asked her for straws and then ordered our food. I ordered the breakfast platter. I got scrambled eggs, sausage links, wheat toast and hash browns. The food was just alright. The eggs tasted kind of weird. The toast was super bland. The hash browns were mostly soggy, and the sausage links I could have done without. This was pretty disappointing after waiting for an hour and a half for food. I feel like when I go to Bob Evans for breakfast the food is better. However, you get a lot of food for a really good price at Sugar N' Spice. Also, my silverware had hardened dry food on it, and that grossed me out. Our server brought me new though so it wasn't a big deal. The atmosphere is really awesome here. I love all the retro designs, and all the people working here are really cool and nice. I think I'll go back to Sugar N' Spice again and get something different. Maybe off of their lunch menu instead of breakfast, and defiantly not on the weekend. I really cannot say enough good things about this place. I suggested it to my girlfriends for a Saturday morning breakfast, and they fell just as in love as I already was. I tried (and LOVED) the Greek Omelet last time I went here, but forced myself to branch out. By recommendation of our awesome waitress, I had their most popular dish, the Mexican Omelet... and quickly found out why it is their most popular dish. First of all, ALL of their omelets are MASSIVE (like, I now have leftovers in my fridge for later, and I'm not even mad about it). Mine was packed with chorizo, and I'm pretty intolerant of spice, but this wasn't spicy at all. The more I dug in, the better it got -- eventually discovering the middle was oozing with sour cream deliciousness. I would HIGHLY recommend it. During my first visit, I wasn't handed the bucket of duckies, so we were all a little thrown off by the gesture. It's legitimately hundreds of varieties of rubber ducks to choose from (I, obviously, went for the pink unicorn ducky). Turns out, the owner WANTS everyone to take one home with them each time they visit. Sort of random. Sort of weird. But totally awesome at the same time. To start - um, the building is PINK! :D Ok, no its not in what appears to be the nicest part of town, but there weren't any sketchy individuals inside... It was a bunch of normal looking people and college kids. What was *weird* (in a fabulous sort of way), were the shelves and shelves of rubber duckies! You name a type of duckie, they have it. Richard Nixon duckie? Check. Alien duckie in pink shirt? Check. Batman duckie? Check. Duckie dressed up as a cat dressed up as a ninja? CHECK! Loving it. Ok, so if duckies weren't enough... They have a random spinny wheel (think game show but tiny & flashy), which the owner turned on just because he "thinks its pretty." Um, really I believe this man may be the male version of myself. Next up is the SAME SIDE SITTERS ONLY booth - just awkwardly tiny and fabulous. Made for 2. Ok, ok - important stuff... -There is ample parking behind the building. -Not a lot of space to wait. A lot of seats at counter, very few booths. Don't come expecting to sit down right away on the weekend, this place is popular. -The waitresses (& owner) were fabulous, welcoming, & helpful. -The omelets are HUGE, like ridiculous huge. I had the Greek one & it was tasty (loves me some black olives!) but it was lukewarm. Sad face. -Try the wispy thin pancakes! They are a must have. Just light, airy, amazing deliciousness. -Sit at the counter, its fun to interact with others. -They take credit cards. Except they don't like to take them for purchases of their coffee mugs, but! They did for me. Thanks, guys! Ok, and worth noting... the wonderfully weird owner stopped by before our food came out with an entire bowl of duckies and offered the boy toy & I whichever two we wanted!! I was tickled! (duckie cat ninja was my choice) - So, it's definitely all about atmosphere here. When we drove up to it this morning the signs outside were glossy, cute and just fun in general. I knew that it was going to be a great place before I even stepped foot inside. You see, I don't look for "New & Improved, " most times. I prefer when it's a local place with character. This little place has it all. The name is perfect. Sugar n' Spice, because everything IS nice. When I opened the door I was amazed to see the the retro appearance, and how they have kept it looking so nice. I loved it inside and declared to my friend after seeing the cartoon characters with the painted pancakes on the wall, that I was going to tie myself to a chair and never go anywhere again. Eventually I'd stay for so long I'd fuse myself to the chair and wouldn't have to worry about anything because then I'd officially, be PART of the restaurant. He rolled his eyes at me, and assured me that it would probably be against several health code violations. Sigh.. he's right, and I'd never want to cause this sweet little place any issues. So I just chose to sit at a stool instead and made a vow that I'd come back again soon. Now, mind you... this is all before we ate.. or even ordered for that matter. We were greeted by several waitresses as we looked over the adorable menu. Really?? The menu is even cute? I guess that makes sense though considering the name. Once we decided, our order was promptly entered. They gave us water as soon as we arrived, our order was in not even ten minutes after we sat down and our food probably took only another 10 minutes to get out to us. The staff were all super courteous and I loved the team work that ensued between them all. I didn't see a single customer without something or with a bad look on their face. Now me on the other hand, I was grinning from ear to ear the whole time I was there... I'm a nerd. So what..!! I ordered the blueberry pancakes and a side of goetta. OMG...I went back to the idea of fusing myself to the chair again immediately after the first bite.., "health code," my friend whispered beside me.. Crap. I guess I'll just have to become a regular instead, and work would probably not accept me calling in on the case that I had fused myself to a chair in an incredibly delicious little restaurant. Jerks.. jeez. how dare them not just mail me a pay check for that! But seriously, the prices at this place are AMAZING!!!! I have never had a stack of blueberry pancakes that were that delicious. The goetta was also equally delicious and when i go back it'll be hard to try something else just because I know how yummy that stuff was. Maybe I can just order a smorgasbord on my day off and sit there all day?? Hmmm... food for thought.. tee hee.. As if that weren't enough, there was a family with a small child there too. He wanted an orange juice and they brought it out in this cute little coke glass that was just his size. He was so excited about it, and I had a Jolly's flashback with my little rootbeer mug and I guess it showed that I was excited for him as well. :) A couple minutes after that gesture a man brought me out a kiddie sized coffee mug that said "Sugar n' Spice" on it that was full of something red and some pink and white ice cream. He told me it was a Red Cream Soda Float. Phenomenal. I mean it. I joke around alot in my reviews... but everything was so good and that just warmed my heart. (Even though it was ice cream, and it's cold.. and.. ok I'm rambling..) Obviously I cannot say enough good things about this place. Another local favorite for its fast and wholesome food. Don't be surprised when the owner walks by to give you a mini ice cream on the house! I met some friends here for brunch on a Sunday. One of us had been here several times so he knew to send someone in early to get our name in. The total wait time was 20 minutes for a table. The place had very vibrant colors and tiny booths. Very intimate considering how packed they were. They have an extensive breakfast menu and many lunch options too. We got some of their "fluffy" omelets and "wispy thin" pancakes, and a breakfast platter. The food came out very fast and everything was delicious. The omelets were HUGE and still lived up to their name (see my pictures). My hashbrowns were nice and crispy. Pancakes were thin and light. Staff has a great system down of busing tables and circulating with coffee. Once you're done though, they'll move you right out for the next party. Bottom line: come here for a colorful diner experience. Just get your name in early to avoid a long wait! read more

Charming place but it seems to have gotten a bit dirty since my last visit a few years ago. Bathrooms and walls clearly hadn't been cleaned well for awhile. Food was also much more mediocre than I remembered, may be due to all the other wonderful food we have been sampling around town. A classic diner, with delicious breakfast, and a ton of great options! Definitely a place to try and frequent.

I used to be a major-league weekend-breakfast freak, especially when it came to old-school independent diners and joints like Sugar'n'Spice. At some point I realized that the food at such places is far too often just overpriced hangover absorbent. And that you can make almost all of this stuff at home quite easily, even if you're a half-assed infrequent cook like me. (The wife does most of the cooking in our house, and she's gotten quite good at it over the years, if I say so myself.) I still like the unique and evocative atmosphere that such a place has to offer. Sugar'n'Spice has that area covered quite well: Bright colors, a couple of shelving units devoted to rubber duckies (not sure what that's about, but I like it), a U-shaped diner counter that looks like it hasn't been altered in decades, and a small-ish area with some tables. And FWIW, Sugar 'n' Spice gets a diverse clientele--it was a nice cross-section of Cincinnati's demographics--which is a good thing. (But one of the joys of visiting such diners would be spreading a newspaper in front of you as you leisurely enjoyed breakfast. Now, all the solo diners are just pecking on smartphones, which clashes with the very 20th-century ambiance of such surroundings and is a damn depressing thing to see.) The breakfast food was competently cooked and was served in large portions, but there's really nothing especially interesting on the menu. And the prices seem a bit high for a part of town that's not exactly high-rent. Service was pleasant but a bit slow for this type of restaurant. There aren't that many diners like Sugar'n'Spice left in the city. This one's pretty good for what it is, but I think the many five-star reviews overstate its value. P.S. This is now an official stop on Adam's friends & family tour of Cincinnati. I can't quite figure out if this place is self-aware or not. It's so perfect you'd have to plan it, or it's so perfect you couldn't plan it. The fare is classic american diner, done exceptionally well. My Windy Special toed that line of delicious calorie-tastic indulgence just before greasy grossness. I came away filled and fulfilled without needing a nap and a pepto. While there I spied plenty of others vittles and I want to come back to try, many of which steered clear of that greasy line entirely (for you healthy ones). The decor is also classic american diner, but by way of 50's advertising, supergraphic, and pop art. It makes me want to order pancakes on a grey spring morning at breakfast. And the ambiance, finally, is the most classic american thing about it. All shapes sizes stripes and colors bellied up to the counter or scooted across the vinyl booths, chatting with the wonderful waiters and waitresses and each other. Sugar'n'Spice is a breakfast favorite of my wife and I. Just south of the Lateral on Reading Road in Bond Hill, SnS's location seems a bit odd; however, 75 years ago the neighborhood may have looked pretty different. When we first started going to SnS about 7 years ago, I was a little thrown off when we pulled up to a pink diner with mint trim. Once you get inside, it looks a little like the Brady Bunch kitchen and The Jetsons house had a love child that grew up to be the Formica counters and table tops and the sparkling bar stools. Round out the ambience with cartoon chefs painted in the walls and shelves full of rubber duckies and you know there is something different about SnS. In case you couldn't tell, I love the look! Now for the food... From the signature "whispy-thin" pancakes (chocolate chip are my wife's favorite, to a breakfast platter (with goetta of course!) the food at Sugar'n'Spice doesn't disappoint. I've never ordered the wrong thing - it's all good. The current owner (or manager maybe) is often there giving out rubber ducks and making sure everyone is having a great experience. His staff are all recognizable and have been there for years. They all know the drill and everyone is friendly. Of all the the places I frequent in Cincinnati, Sugar'n'Spice is the most diverse - racially, socio-economically, generationally - you can sit next to any body at this place! I love that. If I had political aspirations, this place would be the "Jay Jay's Diner" to my "Leslie Knope" and I'd be kick starting my campaign at SnS. My only complaint is that the wait can be a little long. So, go in late on a Wednesday and miss the weekend crowd. read more

Came in town to visit my cousin saw the reviews so wanted to give this place a try. Breakfast was definitely not spectacular would try another restaurant next time in town. For me and my son I think the price came out okay for about $10 for each of us. Maybe people come for the prices because it was a packed house for a Wednesday brunch. They didn't have a kids menu so you pretty much picked a la carte for the children. Sad to say none of our party of four was impressed with the food. My sister actually hated the hollandaise sauce on her omelet. As for my meal I thorough explained how I wanted my eggs cooked and they still came out wrong. Waitress forgot the strawberries on the French toast so had to wait for those to come back. Not big issues but reason enough for me not to spend money there again. read more

First off, let me start off this review by saying there are SO. MANY. DUCKS. at this place! Rubber ducks that is. From when you park outside to when you take your first couple steps in, it seems like a very unassuming Ma&Pa joint. Although it is a local favorite, this was my first time stopping in. It's a small and fast-paced place that seems to always be busy no matter the time or day. The service was great and we got our food in no time! Now onto the food... I got the Mexican omelette and was pleasantly surprised to find that the texture of the eggs were so fluffy! Not to mention, the size of that thing was enormous!! I'm normally someone who can finish their breakfast, but had to take half of it home for a second breakfast later on in the day. The chorizo was well seasoned, but not too salty like a lot of chorizo can be. They also hid some sour cream within the middle of the omelette, which was a huge plus. Each time you come in, they let you pick from a large container of rubber ducks that are all different, which kind of adds to the experience. Really enjoyed the thin pancakes! They were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. This definitely wouldn't have filled me up on its own so I also got a side of corned beef hash. The hash was very crispy on the outside but the inside was a little mushy and wet. I prefer a drier hash but the flavor was good. Our service was wonderful. The staff was on top of coffee refills and very nice. They were busy but food didn't take long and we were seated right away because we were only a party of 2. I noticed the larger groups were served some small bites as they waited, which is a super nice touch! Since the seating is tight I wouldn't recommend this place for a group larger than 4. This is what a breakfast/brunch place should be. I love the atmosphere the owner creates. It's very personable and the servers and owner walk around and are very chatty and just overall very friendly. The place is a small diner-style feel and the design reflects this. There's not that many booths but it has a wide counter for people to sit at. As for the food, the thin wispy pancakes are very delicious. A little crispy and they do not get soggy although the downside is that it requires a lot of them to be full. The omelette is the way to go if you're looking to get full though. They have the standard favorite omelette's but what I got was the make your own omelette, which gives you a little more freedom and a little more fun with your meal. I would warn you that it could get pricey if you went completely overboard though with your meat additions but otherwise I was quite full. It comes with a toasted english muffin, which is a nice balance to the omelette. Get an omelette, a side of the wispy pancakes and you'll be a happy person afterwards. read more

I've been going to Sugar N Spice for a while now. I want to get some things clear off that bat with this review: this is not the best tasting breakfast, or brunch, you can get at this price point in Cincy. This place is almost always packed, loud and very small. Getting from one side of the restaurant to another is often a challenge. You're probably going to have to wait, pressed up against a wall or window for a seat and you may have to be a little aggressive about getting to the front and putting your name down on the list. If any of that scares you, skip Sugar N Spice. So why four stars? A couple of reasons. Eggs and bacon are eggs and bacon the world over; go to Denny's for that. Come here for the football sized omelets, the thin pancakes (which are so addictive, as a person that hates pancakes, can eat two full stacks in one sitting,) the killer sandwiches and perfect diner coffee. Come for the fact that IT IS packed. Come here for the waitresses, the ducks and the decor. Come here for the extremely cordial and often fun owner. (This last Sunday he was handing brownies, Dad jokes and novelty rubber ducklings.) The whole place feels like a pulsing heart, and everyone feels like some kind of extended family. When some little kid took the giant fake tarantula out of its terrarium and put it on the shoulder of a grown man who freaked out and screamed like a school girl we didn't feel intimated or worried that someone was shrieking- it was hilarious. The wrote place was cool about it and we went back to our delicious breakfast, conversations and coffee mugs. Come here BECAUSE it's a touch tacky and a dash of divey. Come here BECAUSE it's super busy. Cone here for the atmosphere as much as the food. And, ask for the potato rounds. They're not on the menu, but they're a perfect breakfast companion. read more

A very special place. The staff are very much a part of what makes it so special. The pancakes are thin,light and delicious. The omelettes are huge and tasty. The bacon and cream cheese is my favorite. I've had the salmon patty breakfast and it was very good. I can't think of anything I ever ordered and didn't like. My dad loves it, sister, cousins and friends. I grew up in Avondale and things have changed so much. I am so grateful that Sugar and Spice is still as awesome as always. read more

I have been here a million times and have probably had everything on the menu. I think my favorite is the sweet potato waffle and their goetta. OMG you HAVE to have their goetta!!! Service is always quick, the staff is friendly and quick witted and on Sundays the owner passes out rubber duckies which is too cute. Even if you get there and it looks packed, they move people in and out pretty quickly. It's worth waiting a few minutes to sit down. read more

Breakfast Club I heard big things about Sugar N' Spice so I was going in with high hopes...and they sure delivered. The place had a line on an early Saturday morning but we belly'd up to the bar fairly quickly, breakfast bar that is. In true breakfast club fashioned, I ordered the eggs, goetta and of course, one of their famous pancakes. The pancakes were awesome and full of flavor, for someone like myself who doesnt drown things in syrup. Pricing was pretty reasonable and the waitresses definitely know what they are doing and helped me strategize my order. Delish! I walked a mile and a half two days in a row in freezing temps to have breakfast here, and so glad i did. I seek out unique places when i go out of town so i didn't want typical chain restaurants i kept walking past on my way to this place. I showed up on a Sunday morning and it was BUSY, thankfully i was able to squeeze in at the counter and greeted with a smile and the offering of coffee...yes please! The super cute cup somehow made this coffee twice as good. I ordered the eggs benedict with ham and hash browns on the side. I cannot stand the clear jiggly ick on ill prepared eggs, and my eggs came out perfect to my delight. This was a delicious breakfast, in a very cozy space, with service that was really spot on considering how packed the place was/is. Returned the next day, ordered the same meal, and was even offered my coffee to go which was VERY appreciated as it helped keep me warm on my walk back to where i was headed. I saw that quite a few people ordered the panacakes, and i simply couldn't fit it after my meal but something tells me they are tasty. I will say if you come try to travel in a small pack as seating is limited and a single person or even a pair will do much better than trying to seat a large table. read more

Although I work just down the street, I only just visited Sugar 'n' Spice diner for the first time this week. I've heard great things about their breakfasts, which are available all day, but it was lunch time and I'm a sucker for a chicken salad sandwich. I had the Little Chicken sandwich on wheat and it was good -- not the best I've ever had but tasty and filling. I lucked out and got my companion's home fries by mistake when they came on my plate. I assumed they came with the sandwich, but no, they were hers. Glad I got to taste them, regardless. Our server, who was very friendly, got my dining companion her own plate of fries. She had ordered salad with tuna for her meal. The salad was pretty plain and small -- not the salad meals you see in most places these days -- but the tuna scoop was very generous. This is a diner and based on all the raves, I'm thinking breakfast is their strength. I'll try that next time. Definitely worth a visit for the fun and colorful interior, with unique, cozy booths. It's small but counter seating adds some extra chairs. Plenty of parking, just mind that there is a separate entrance and exit, unlike me, who drove in through the out door by mistake. read more

This is my spot for breakfast. It is a small spot off Reading that you will pass if someone doesn't tell you about it. Just learn about it until a few years ago before I moved back to Ohio. I went for breakfast to meet friends. The greeter was nice and put my name down. She told me to have a seat until the table was available as well as all my party was present. We were seated fast. The server was really welcoming and friendly to us. I knew what I wanted to order, salmon patty, potatoes and half order of the pancakes (which are thin). She provided water for us and was engaging. It didn't take long for food to come. It was very good. The pancakes or light and just tasty. The salmon was good overall and the home style potatoes, was a good portion. I always get full before finishing my meal. The server offered a duck to the children which was cool. They have different types for people to pick from. I enjoyed the visit.
