Cute little breakfast and lunch place! And for us Jeep fans, free ducks! My girlfriend and I loved the breakfast burritos!

Nice diner for an amazing meal. Very friendly staff and cool looking decor. Food came out fast. Fed a family of four for under $50. Win for us. I recommend the spicy burrito. The salsa was amazing. Go and try. You won't regret it!

We looked up this place the night before and thought this was a perfect spot to take our toddler for breakfast. They had a great menu and the inside was bright and filled with people. They offer a duck at the end of your meal so our daughter was able to pick one out. Great food that came out hot and fast!

The Basics: Sugar N' Spice has a nice retro feel and can be a fun environment for breakfast/brunch, but unfortunately I would not return due to the long wait times, slow service, and poor food quality. Things I like: I enjoyed the retro-style of the restaurant and they let you pick out a rubber duck at the end of your meal which is a fun touch. Things I didn't like: When I visited I was in a party of eight people. We understood we would wait awhile for a table to accommodate the whole group. We were told we would sit in about 35 minutes and we ended by being seated in about 50 minutes. However, once we were seated they separated us into two tables. This was confusing considering many parties that arrived after us and were seated before us were tables of four which we ended up being split into anyway. After waiting 50 minutes for a table, we expected to be seated together. The service was also unusually slow. It took 30 minutes for us to get waters and mimosas and another 40 minutes or so to get our food. Additionally, when our food was delivered multiple items were not there which we had to ask for. The food quality was also not the best. The food was fine for the most part, but the scrambled eggs I received were very cold and the sausage patties were burnt. This meal as a whole took over two hours between the wait time and the service. Overall, I would not return to this restaurant. A party being seated separately after waiting nearly an hour was disappointing and the service and food quality also made this a frustrating experience.

Good, no-frills place for breakfast. Tasty meal and good value for what you're getting--exactly what you'd expect. We had pancakes and the steak Philly omelet. Chloe, our server, took great care of us.

The food was delicious, and the service was good, the ambiance was so cute it looked like an adorable 50's dinner. We enjoyed ourselves here.

We checked out Sugar n' Spice and had a great experience from start to finish. When we arrived, we were told there was a 45-minute wait, but since we had our grandson with us, the hostess offered three seats at a second bar in the back. It was bright, clean, and felt more like a workspace for the staff than a seating area, but it worked out perfectly. The whole place had a classic '50s diner feel--crisp, shiny, and welcoming. Once our grandson realized his stool spun 360 degrees, he was all in. The staff seemed happy to have us there too, stopping to chat and making him feel like part of the crew. One waitress, wearing a University of Cincinnati sweatshirt, sealed the deal when he spotted her and gave the "Oohhhh, ohhhh... U.C.!" rally cry. From that moment on, he was the unofficial mascot of the morning. Food-wise, he ordered his own pancakes, sausages, and, of course, more sausages. My wife and I went with the traditional breakfasts--I had the Meat Lovers Platter, which looked incredible. I can't tell you how the sausage link tasted, because my grandson swiped it as soon as the plate hit the table, but based on his reaction, I'd say it was a winner. Everything else was spot-on, so I'm guessing the sausage was too. Highly recommend Sugar n' Spice--the food was great, the staff was even better, and the whole experience felt warm and welcoming. If you go, check their hours--they're a brunch place and don't stay open much past 2 p.m. Get there early, and if you're feeling it, order a mimosa or a "Bloody Maria!" (just ask yer server, you'll see...

Classic diner vibe. Food was as expected. Service was disappointing having to wait for multiple items that were served separately from the dish they were supposed to be plated with.

I was here a couple of weeks ago, in town on work, and coming in for lunch because this place was within working distance of the office I was visiting. I love Irish bars, and regularly go to the one nearest me, so I was hoping for a good experience. As I said, the ambiance and decor was at least pretty good, and the food I had was a mushroom Swiss burger which was okay but not exceptional. The problem was the really bad service. I was there at midday for lunch, there were a couple of folks drinking at the bar, and one other table of people seated at around the same time I was. They took more than 5 minutes to simply come and take my drink order. . .and the server had an attitude when I let him know I wasn't there to drink beer. He started by rattling off beer options, and when I asked what soft drinks they had, he told me the soft drinks they had. . .then, dripping with sarcasm, he says "or we could fix you a Shirley Temple" with a really nasty attitude. I ordered my beverage, and when he came back almost 10 minutes later (!) with my drink, I place my food order, which he takes without comment. My food takes over 30 minutes to come out, and he never came back once to check on me, refill my drink or generally do anything. Once I politely asked him about soft drinks, making it clear I wasn't there for beer, it's like he checked out of thinking he had to deal with me. Things were slow before then, but got worse after that. It's not like the place was crowded and he had a lot of tables to deal with. He brought the check back, and he was actually prompt in taking my money for the check. I left, and pretty much had used up my entire lunch hour despite only being right across the street from my office the whole time.

Even though this was delayed due to weather (the original date was earlier in February), the staff at ToB was super communicative and let me know that my reservation would carry over to the next date. The food was amazing - Belgian meatballs, mussels provencale and bolo - I mean....wow. I don't even like mussels and I couldn't get enough of these. Each of the foods were so perfectly crafted for the feast and had such an amazing story behind why it was a featured dish. Then came the chicken and waffles...flight. I mean - how much more perfect can you get? Iconic ToB waffles and chicken? Chef's kiss! To make the night even more incredible, we got to meet with Jean-François who told us stories and gave us pairing recommendations that were top notch. For starters I ordered the waffle latte!!! Very maple tasting with a cute little Belgium waffle as garnish- so cute!! My friends got the McWaffle & Southwest waffle - both had no complaints except a McWaffle might get ya a little dirty since the sandwich is so stuffed.... Both were friendly & acknowledged the birthday girl in our party. Atmosphere is great. You could comfortably walk in wearing jeans or come dressed up. Neither would be over or under dressed. The menu has juuuust the right amount of options, which is great! Heather was our waitress & while she was kind, her service skills were lacking. Granted we weren't at a Michelin Star Restaurant, but we also weren't at a dive bar. There was an endless amount of awkward reaching through, over & around when refilling drinks. There were a couple of instances where she actually touched our shoulders to nudge us to the side so she could reach through. Totally not okay during service at a restaurant nicer than a dive bar. We ordered the cheese sticks starter which were so yummy! Highly recommend! A couple of us ordered the Cesar side salad & were highly disappointed. The dressing tasted like it was mayonnaise heavy & then watered down by lettuce that wasn't dried after being rinsed. Even adding tons of extra pepper didn't help. The lettuce also tasted like it has been too wet for too long. The lobster mac was ordered in the group & it was tasty but soooo greasy. So, order with caution. We had the Black N Bleu salad in the group & that was good. The Atlantic Salmon was another dinner ordered & the crust seasoning was delicious! Sadly, the salmon was a bit overdone. It does come with a lobster cream sauce, which confused me. It was only so so & I definitely skipped it entirely. The steamed broccoli was done to perfection though. Not soggy & not too crunchy. We also had the 12oz ribeye & that was great! Flavorful, cooked perfectly! I will add though, that the steak knives need an upgrade. I really wanted to love this place, but we won't return on our next trip to Newport/Cincinnati.

After seeing my niece graduate from college, our entire family and guests, all eight of us,…read moredescended on Coppin's restaurant for brunch. Normally, I find hotel food is just okay and nothing special, but Coppin's was a pleasant surprise. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, and our equally pleasant server quickly brought menus and asked what we would like to drink. When it was my turn, I happily ordered Coppin's Old Fashioned. I was the odd man out because everyone else ordered the Spring Manhattan. Judging by how quickly everyone's drinks disappeared, I'd say they were all very tasty. I was a little unsure about mine at first, so to make sure the quality and taste were consistent, I ordered a second, and it definitely was not a mistake. I ordered the B+G biscuits (which are made by hand according to server in the hotel) and gravy with an extra egg. Others at the table chose a variety of dishes, including the CVG, Cobb Salad, Bagel and Lox, and several other selections. Based on the clean plates all around the table, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My wife ordered a sample of banana bread, and I was fortunate enough to snag a small bite, it was excellent. After we had all finished, everyone agreed that my niece had made an excellent choice for her graduation celebration brunch. As my wife and I made our way back to Louisville, we both commented that we would definitely return the next time we were in Covington.

I ended up being in the North Building and cracked up when I walked into my room and saw I was in one of the Lightwell Lofts (a few of us ended up in them by chance, guess they included them in our room block lol). While the room was super cool and beautiful, there was a lot to be desired. After taking a million photos of the gorgeous room, I quickly realized a major flaw - the bedroom is upstairs, the bathroom is downstairs, and the staircase between the two is a crazy narrow spiral staircase. As someone that gets up to pee in the middle of the night, having to traverse the spiral stairs was terrifying lol. One of my coworkers actually swapped with someone who had a "normal" room because he was worried about falling down the stairs. My downstairs tv wouldn't turn on. I fiddled with the remote a bit, tried rearranging the batteries, but couldn't turn it on. I used the ipad in the room to put in a maintenance request, but no one came. I figured I would just let the front desk know when I headed out to dinner that night. Hours later, the front desk calls me to see if anyone had come to fix the tv - they hadn't. The girl was very nice and apologetic, she said I sent the request in the middle of a shift change and someone had accidentally marked it as complete. So she said someone would be right up, and he did come up. Handed me a handwritten note and a $25 coupon for Coppin's which was totally unexpected and a very nice gesture. Turned out, he knew exactly what the problem was - he said the remote was broken and he was supposed to swap it out but forgot. Gave me a new remote and all was good. He also mentioned there is a second remote upstairs for that tv. After he left, I went to look for it - there was no second remote. We held our meetings in the Scheper Room, which was also beautiful. The room was absolutely freezing the first day and I'm someone that prefers it a touch colder and was uncomfortable. We had to get them to update the thermostat and then in the afternoon it was way too hot. We had food brought in from the hotel and it was all fine, nothing super memorable. There was soup at lunch but the sign didn't even say what it was - just "chef's choice." The Italian hoagies were way too big and needed to be cut in half, I couldn't even finish half of one. The salad with fruit/pecans/etc was my favorite though. They had the completely wrong password on the tables for the Wifi but thankfully we figured it out quickly that we just had to use the room password. The second day for breakfast, there was yogurt on the menu and even on the sign with all the food - but there was no yogurt. Some of my coworkers were specifically asking for yogurt so we had to request it directly because it was included and paid for. Box lunches to take to go on the second day which were fine, I had the chicken caesar salad wrap. Housekeeping didn't come to service my room until 5pm when I was in there getting ready for dinner, so I was not able to get the room serviced. Just asked them for some more coffee. My conditioner in the shower was empty but I didn't bother reporting it after the tv issue and I had my own conditioner with me, so used that. The lotion at the sink was so thick that I could not get it out of the bottle at all, I had to use q-tips to get it out (it was nice quality, just kinda useless if you can't get it out of the bottle lol). Great local offerings on the mini bar and in the fridge. My coworkers and I got a kick out of the "intimacy kits" because we were on a business trip haha. The Magic 8 ball was fun, I loved the conversation cards even though I just read a few of them to myself haha. Even with the bedroom upstairs, it was nice to have the big double closet in the bathroom hallway so I really was just in the loft to sleep and kept all my stuff downstairs. The location is great, lots of fun stuff right nearby. The courtyard is lovely. I would say this is a solid 3.5 stars but since we can't give half stars, I'll give it a 4 because the staff was overall very nice and quickly fixed any issues, just a little annoying that we had any issues at all.
