So anyone who has ever been here would have to agree with me that it's located in the strangest plaza... A cute little cafe surrounded by hoards of auto shops. Odd indeed. There are two things I would come here for: chicken spinach melt & coffee. Other than that, I would have to pass. Visited with my boyfriend before and he ordered off their breakfast menu, which all in all was not too impressive. It was just the basic hash brown, eggs, and sausage and the portions were small. He was far from full. I would say avoid breakfast altogether. Their lunch menu is worth trying. Like I said, their Chicken Spinach Melt ($9.25) is simple, but delicious. And the fries are fried to extra crispy perfection. Get a side of ranch dressing and you're set. I got a chance to sample their latte with a shot of hazelnut on my most recent visit and it was great! I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but I really enjoyed this cup. There was a good balance of bitter and sweet. Service ALWAYS lacks when I visit. I thought they just had off days at first, but now I'm certain that's just the way it is here. They gave us no napkins when they brought everything out and we had to ask for water refills. This cafe is a cute staple for weekday breakfast. There's a good variety of consistently well-prepared dishes and excellent coffee. I tried the omelette (bacon, mushroom, spinach) with hash browns and shared a big bowl of fruit. The omelette was cooked well. Eggs were fluffy and not overdone. The texture of the bacon was a bit hard, but not hard enough to detract from my enjoyment. The hash browns were DELICIOUS!!! Crispy golden brown on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Not oily, not greasy, and roughly the size of a Taco Bell burrito. Fruit was fresh and looked freshly cut. Ours had cantaloupe, melon, pineapple, and strawberry. Coffee here is amazing. They use Intelligentsia beans and a Chemex for pour overs. My cup was nutty and rich with no sour or acidic notes from under extraction. I've also tried the latte and cappuccino here. The milk ratio is a bit off and dilutes the flavor of the espresso. Regardless, foam on the cappuccino was excellently frothy. Service is relaxed, but decently attentive. You definitely need to ask for water or the check. Expect the kind of treatment you'd get at a coffee shop and not a full service restaurant. I'Ve been coming to this establishment for the past 7 years. It's family owned and everyone is always so kind. They've just recently updated their menu and there are so many new thing to try. Their breakfast portions are so big and always fill me up. I usually stick with the Ray's favorite when I'm in the mood for a classic breakfast. My favorite has to be the Steak and Eggs. Their quinoa hash browns are scrumptious. Lunch is a perfect time to go because they have a variety of salads, soups, and Sandwiches.Y favorite item would have to be their Pineapple Spinach smoothie. First it seemed that we didn't have the right address. It was in the middle of an industrial area. The small sign was hidden in the corner of the plaza. When we got seated the one waitress said to sit anywhere we liked...(mind you it wasn't even busy in there) so we sat off to the middle of the restaurant. The waitress and her boss got upset about where we sat...and instead of asking us to move they gave us impatient looks. Aside from the strange initial encounter, the food was ok. I still remember how amazing you were when you first opened years ago, and now I find myself coming here less and less. I'm not sure if the quality has decreased or if I am just growing tired of my same ol' same ol' local breakfast place. This hole-in-the-wall cafe is located on the corner of a more industrial area. It can be easy to miss if you are not familiar with the area, so keep your eyes open for it. I always, always order the 'Cinnamon Raisin French Toast' (thumbs up) or the omelette with bacon, sausage and cheddar cheese, which lately has been a hit or miss. Sadly, today my omelette was so soggy and oily that I could not finish it. The omelette comes with your choice of bread and hash browns. My friend took me here to visit my other friend whose mom is part owner of this place. Definitely skeptical since it was in Walnut...and really...could there be a good lunch spot in Walnut? Ordered the chicken spinach sandwich and I was pretty impressed! Had the choice of ordering a side of fries or fruit and got the fruit mix. Ambiance is bright, with a few college students with their laptops, looking as if they were at Starbucks. I'd definitely recommend coming here if you feel the need to just get away, write in your journal, or enjoy some music while browsing the web. I noticed that the servers are really friendly and love to meet new people and carry conversations with them, so don't hesitate to get to know them! This is a place I almost want to keep to myself. =P We came here on a rainy Sunday morning and the place was packed. Since they were so busy, everything was a bit unorganized. We waited a long time for everything: to be asked how many were in our party (they just assumed two since two of us arrived first when we had a party of four so we had to wait for yet another table), waited for menus, waited for water (we had to remind them again), waited for them to take our orders (we had to flag them down), etc. We weren't in that much of a rush so it gave us time to catch up but they really should get more waiters/waitresses since they are so busy. On a good note, the people who work there are really nice and friendly. My annoyance with the waiting went out the window once I got my food. French Toast - They ran out of the raisin bread but this was still REALLY REALLY good. I'm can't think of another place where I've had such great french toast. I can't imagine how the original would taste. Breakfast Wrap w/ hash browns - The breakfast wrap is solid but the highlight of this dish is really the hash browns. Crispy! So, for my 200th review (finally), I figure I'd pick a place that was kind of meaningful to review - Sugar Rush was the first new restaurant I went to, on the last trip I took down to LA when I still had a home to go back to. Sadly, the experience itself wasn't nearly as noteworthy, but at least the company was good, having come here with Minda W after her ravings on how awesome this little cafe was. We ended up going fairly early in the morning, ordering the raisin french toast and a chicken spinach melt. The french toast was okay, but a bit too sweet, not particularly interesting, and probably would have been better had the slices been thicker. And while the melt was good, a sharper cheese would have gone a lot better in it, with whatever cheese it actually was tasting a lot like an overpowering white cheddar. Unfortunately, the accompanying fries tasted like they'd been cooked in old oil (at 930am? Come on!). Service and food were both pretty slow as well, which I found unusual given that the cafe was half empty. This would probably be a place I'd come back to if I lived near the area, but not something I'd go out of my way to try. read more

Went in to eat brunch with a friend today. We were greeted and sat down right away. One of the employees took our drink order and told us they would give us a few min before taking our orders again. We both ordered the omelet with the toppings and stuffings we wanted. After about 10 minutes our food came out. When we both wanted cheddar cheese on our omelettes, we were expecting like shredded cheese but instead they just took a slice of cheese and threw it on the omelet lol! That was a first....the omelet was alright overall. The hash browns that came with the meal was crispy on top but the bottom was very soft..almost like a soggy hash. On my bread slices I found some type weird strand of plastic on it...eh. The total came out to be almost $12 each for each person and I think it's overpriced for what you get. Service was ok...I had to ask for water a few times and get up and give the employees our cards/checks to pay at the end bc I couldn't get their attention even if the place was somewhat empty. I really really like Sugar Rush Cafe! Don't be fooled by its obscure location -- the food is tasty and the staff is positively delightful! The building's exterior really does not do the place justice. They serve breakfast all day long, and have so many appealing items on their menu that it's safe to say that I will be a guaranteed return customer! I've made two visits here, and both were tremendously satisfying. My first was with my boyfriend, who ordered a mushroom-bacon-swiss omelet, while I opted for the chicken spinach melt. We also ordered the french toast with candied bananas to share. My second visit was with a friend who ordered a spinach-mushroom-sausage omelet, while I once again had the chicken spinach melt. (Yes, it was THAT good! I promise I'll try something else next time.) Omelet - came with cheese inside, as well as another slice melted across the top! As a fan of cheesy omelets, this definitely scored points with me. My friend and my boyfriend each really enjoyed their omelet, which was accompanied by a side of perfectly crispy hash browns and some buttered toast and jam. Chicken spinach melt - was amazing!! So amazing, in fact, that I ordered it twice. The chicken, which is flavored with herbs, is thick and juicy, resting between green spinach leaves and a slice of fresh tomato. A slice of cheese is layered and melted on top, and all of this rests between the two halves of a warm and perfectly toasted wheat roll. To top it all off, you have a choice of fries, freshly made potato chips, or hash browns with your order. It'll be hard for me to order something else on my next visit, just because I know now that the chicken spinach melt is a sure bet. Yumm! French toast - is made from raisin toast, soaked in syrup, and topped with warm candied bananas and fresh strawberries. Personally, this platter was a bit too sweet for my taste, but I can definitely see why people love it so. My boyfriend and I each had a slice, and ended up wasting the other six pieces. If you like sweets in moderation, this is a good order to get if you have a big party. I have a feeling I'll be coming back often, perhaps even alone to do some studying! It seems to be a generally quiet environment and they offer free WiFi on the premises. What more can you ask for? On my next visit, I'll probably try the BLT with avocado, and try one of those acclaimed lattes. I'll report back, Yelpers! P.S. The staff is really laid back and fun at Sugar Rush Cafe. I .. am not totally fair on the 3 stars. I want to give 3.5. Let me explain, before you punch me in the face for giving 3 stars only. I have never been here before, it was really hard trying to find this place! I drove into the wrong plaza then around in the same plaza trying to find it. The place is very unnoticeable, on the edge at the end of the plaza in the middle of a very industrial area. I had my friend order for me first... by the time I got there, the food was cold .... So my judgement is a little biased. Food was pretty good, I got the chicken spanich melt sandwich. They don't skimp out on the chicken, I got plenty! And they toasted the ciabetta bun, light mayo, not too heavy. Macchiato was good, but .. oh so tiny. That's where I am deducting the points. It was very cute, but just.. so tiny. I've been coming here for over a year now and the experience was great at first but I think the puppy love has worn off. The food when I first tried this place was amazing to me and the service was very friendly. Pair that with competitive pricing and great cafe drink options and I was sold! I think Sugar Rush Cafe wins people over in how clean, tidy, neat, and hip it is. It's a really cute cafe decorated with artsy photographs that reminds me of a nice poem I heard once. The staff is SUPER friendly and their menu has an array of food items, but mostly things that remind me of breakfast or brunch. I came here with my girlfriend and she ordered the Belgian Waffles which were very pretty and big, I believe she also got a side of hash browns. I ordered an Omelet with Bacon, Spinach, and Mushrooms which came with hash browns and I THINK wheat toast. The food was in good portions but I drenched most of it in ketchup and Tabasco sauce. The bacon was not as how I imagined it, it was a little chewy. I was decently full at the end. A turn off was how BARREN the food looked coming out on a plain white plate. Although completely not necessary, they could make things prettier on the eyes by either using colorful plates or garnishing the plates with salsa, diced tomatoes/cucumbers, or a fruit salad of some sort. I just wanted the dish to have some life. Ultimately, it was a fond experience, but not anything CRAZY to tell people about. They don't have any gimmicks, nothing is overly cheap, portions aren't overly huge, and it's kind of in the middle of nowhere. I really want to love this place but I can't. :'( Like everybody else mentioned, service is really terrible. I had to seat myself every time I've been here (3 times). The last time I was here, it wasn't even busy and there were servers just standing around. Maybe you're just supposed to seat yourself...? I dunno. Portions are pretty big but the food is just whatever. My dining hall food is way better honestly. It tastes exactly what you think it would taste like I guess, probably comparable to an IHOP. Also, you can get your eggs "any style" but they don't do poached eggs.. :'( I still come occasionally because there are no breakfast/ brunch places in Diamond Bar/ Walnut. Stopped by here on a roadtrip down to L.A. with my roomies and was highly impressed by the quality of food- most of the dishes were under $8! Perfect for college students like us. We walked into Sugar Rush, knowing that we were in for a treat after researching the best place to stop on our way to pick up our roommate's sister at Cal Poly. The place is definitely a small cafe, but the service and waiters are amazing. Everyone working did not seem much older than us and it was nice to have a friendly staff that was within our age group. I got the breakfast burrito, which was out of this world! The hashbrowns were plentiful and perfectly golden crisp. I barely finished my meal because of the heaping portions. One of my roommates decided to indulge on something sweet considering the name of this place and got her sugar rush with the french toast, which she loved as well. Had the chicken spinach melt: Perfect ingredients, perfect sauce to accompany the flavors, just perfect. I'm not a huge sandwich person because I think they are all so boring and tasteless unless slathered in some type of sauce... which is exactly why I liked this one. This place is located at the entrance of an industrial building park. I got the Two Eggs Breakfast (see photo). It was a decent breakfast. The service was pretty quick here. I had my eggs cooked sunny-side up and it came out just right. For my sides, I ordered bacon and hash brown. The bacon came out overly burnt with a texture that was too hard, and the taste was also little too salty. The hash browns came nice and hot, with a slightly baked crisp. That was a nice touch. It gave off a nice and warm crunch in my mouth. It also came with 2 slices of bread with strawberry jam. The bread was toasted nicely and was lightly buttered, which made a big difference in taste. Very good. Overall though, I wasn't impressed, but I wasn't disappointed either. Pretty average stuff. read more

They make the bread nice and toasty. YUKON GOLD FRIES - Long, crispy, and golden. These have a nice crunch to them but are still soft on the inside. I highly recommend these! This is such a cute place! I've passed by it many times and always wondered what they sold. Checked yelp and was inspired to give it a try. They're parking is a little weird, the place is in a business center and it seems like some of the parking is in front of rollup doors that are NOT for parking. But anyway, not a deal breaker. You walk in and are seated to cozy tables. The atmosphere is very relaxing, they were playing Frank Sinatra and that's always a plus in my book. Their prices are VERY reasonable! Especially for what you get! Everything is made fresh, and portions are perfect! I got full with my breakfast. They also specialize in drinks, which I'll have to try next time. We order the two egg breakfast which was a hefty portion and cooked perfectly. We also got their awesome French toast with homemade syrup. Okay so I've been here twice now. The first time I got their famous French toast and the second time I got pancakes and eggs. I must say that the food here is mediocre at best. I hate to leave such a review because the owners are so sweet but I really don't know what the hype is all about. First of all the location is SKETCH. The food itself is something I could make at home. I was really excited to try their French toast but it was really anticlimactic once I actually had it. It was soggy and Unappealing, the taste was all sugar and too much sugar. The pancakes were barelu passable. I didnt get the fluffy delicious pancakes that everyone else here is raving about. They were rather small, dense, and seemed a bit overcooked. I would have to say that norms and Denny's have better pancakes than what I had here. I got the candied fruits on the side and that was again just a soggy blah. The latte I got was bitter and tasted nothing like a mocha latte. I couldn't even finish half of it. Located in a Industrial Park on Valley Blvd. at first glance you would think it may not be open on the weekends but it was and I met a very good old friend of mine from Junior High here... we had not seen each other in nearly 25 years!!! Service was excellent. I asked for my eggs over easy and only one of them was prepared the way I asked. Sourdough toast did not have that "sour"" taste to it ={ could have easily been french bread for the taste of it... that is sort of a bummer. I did not like my sausage but the bacon wasn't bad and my friend ordered a Mocha and seemed to like it okay. Ehhhh. I had high expectations for this place since so many people said it is delicious. This location is definitely a "hole in the wall." If you don't look closely enough , you could miss it. When we came, there was a short 5 minutes wait. The inside felt very homey and the ambiance was very welcoming. We sat down and waited a good 7 minutes for someone to hand us a menu. Finally, I believe it was the owner who came by and dropped off our menu. We contemplated for awhile on what we were getting since it was our first time. After reading reviews, we decided to try the sugar rush cinnamon raisin toast with their syrup. According to yelp, everyone loved it so why not? Comes with either fries or chips. *Sugar Rush's Cinnamon Raisin French Toast - this was so good! Enjoyed a nice breakfast. We were seated quickly, however didn't get a server to our table for about 10 minutes. It looked like 2 servers, not a large place but they were busy. Quaint cafe with excellent food. Definitely coming back! Bookmarked a long time ago and finally visited. We decided on the 3-egg omellette, the cinnamon raisin French toast, the house blend, hot chocolate, and a side of the potato chips. The coffee was excellent! I can taste why it's so highly rated. It was also served from what a seemed like a glass carafe. Never seen it poured like that before but it definitely made an impression. And, the coffee went well with the sweetness of the French toast which was amazing. The toast was flavorful and on point. The syrup was infused with the flavor of the candied bananas and strawberries! The omellette and hashbrowns were good. Ours had mushrooms and spinach and you could tell they use fresh ingredients. The chips were thicker than normal and took a bit of getting used to and it's definitely a heartier chip! The Belgian hot chocolate was delicious! It wasn't too sweet but it was creamy! The chocolate profile was obvious. If you are into chocolate, this is a must-try! It wasn't as hard to find as I thought. When you're coming from Grand going east on Valley it's easy to see from the street. It might be easy to miss if you're going west from Temple specially since there's an island divider. Service was good. They were attentive and it seemed like even the friendly owners would come out to serve. Our total came out to $29.04, a good value in my opinion. Spinach Chicken Melt was so good. Moist chicken, soft Ciabatta bread... Comes with french fries or chips. Cinnamon Raisin French Toast was absolutely amazing. 4 slices of toast, drenched in maple syrup, topped with bananas and strawberries. Will definitely get this again. I like brunch!! I had a hard time finding good brunch places around Diamond bar/rowland area...but now I have this place YAY!! I have been here several times already! Always have good experience! I really REALLY wanted to write a great review on this place. The food here is well-prepared, the staff is nice, and the ambiance is super-chill. However, I had to dock a few stars because of: 1) the extremely LONG time it took to get food and drinks on the table - 20 minutes before a cup of coffee arrived and nearly 30 minutes for a breakfast burrito, and 2) the highway robbery coffee - we ordered "regular" coffee - it was good - but definitely not $3.95 a cup good! read more

This restaurant is a hole-in-the-wall. Its on Valley Blvd. between Walnut and Pomona amongst many industrial buildings and businesses and easy to miss. The food here is superb and portions are EPIC! I really enjoy the Chicken Spinach Melt where the Swiss cheese is oozing, the spinach is nice and perfectly wilted, tomato is grilled to perfection and in between all that goodness is a very decent sized herb-marinated chicken breast. The Club sandwich is MASSIVE, with piles of ham, turkey and crisp, thick-cut applewood bacon with lettuce and tomatoes and mayonnaise between 3 nicely toasted slices of white bread. The Yukon Gold fries here are to die for, hot and crisp and well seasoned and not greasy at all. The coffee here is also great, if you're a coffee fanatic, they use a very high end coffee to begin with from Intelligentsia. On a nice warm Southern California day I'd like to get an Iced Hazelnut Mocha which tastes exactly like a Ferrero Rocher chocolate or Nutella spread. I also enjoy the Iced Peppermint Mocha which is a nice holiday flavor that I can enjoy year-round hot or cold. On a cold day, I'd enjoy a nice start my day off with a latte or a nice cup of Espresso for the wake up, or a cup of Cappucino or a Macchiato. One great thing is that they have breakfast all day from 8 AM to 4 PM, so if you love breakfast foods but cannot wake up in the morning, have no fear, breakfast is served all day here and starting April, Sugar Rush will be open on Sundays as well! The atmosphere here is very friendly and caters to students, business people, families, etc. FREE WIFI is also a nice amenity that is appealing. The cafe gives off a sense of a homely, cozy feeling which makes you want to stay around and just chat with other patrons. With ALL that being said 5 STARS, check it out! read more

A little pricey but the food was pretty good and the service was excellent, so I'm not complaining. I had the bacon avocado burger and the bf had the chicken spinach melt. My burger was good and tasted like a cafe burger -- you know, on the "light" side, where the patty wasn't really thick and juicy, but you tasted all the elements of the burger and didn't feel bogged down by oil and grease afterward. Bf's chicken melt was good too -- chicken was juicy, cheese was nice and melted, and he also said he could taste all the layers. We both got our meals with fries and they were perfectly crisp. Oh, we also got a Belgian waffle to share and it was light and airy, with powdered sugar and strawberries (could've used more strawberries). Overall, good food but not super WOW factor. Again, great service though so I think that brings people back. If I lived in the area, I could see myself coming here to work and study a lot since they have free wifi. read more

Pancakes are deelish here!! Large, light and fluffy. The vanilla butter goes really well with it too! Highly recommended. Wayy better than IHOP or Denny's in my opinion. The hash browns are very tasty here too! Burgers are big and the patties are juicy. Portions are very generous in my opinion, contrary to what others have stated in their reviews. Potato chips are nice and crunchy. Buffalo wings are decent, not up to par with Hooters wings, but are tasty. Restaurant itself is small, clean, and well kept. Has a very strong mom and pop restaurant feel to it. Bathrooms are clean too! :) It's just located in a weird, industrial area off Valley Blvd. Price wise, they are decent. Some of the things I do believe they need to work on is getting the check faster to you when you ask for it. We dined here twice and both times they seemed to lag with bringing you your check. Also, they could benefit from bringing in a larger selection of black and green teas for customers to choose from. :) Other than that, great, little place to dine at. :) read more
