Jessica was a little rushed, since she had back to back appointments with me squashed in between the two without any time to break or clean between, but she was very friendly and efficient and did a great job. The only thing I had done today was sugaring for my underarms - but it was a very complete job. She moisturized the area and trimmed the hair, and the sugaring itself was not painless or messy at all. I definitely liked being able to book and cancel my appointment online - it made it much easier to not have to call in and play phone tag. The space itself is quiet, air conditioned, and has a very industrial minimalist aesthetic throughout. There is water and a couple of comfortable recliners in the lobby, and the receptionist was super nice and very professional. I'm reluctantly docking a star because the prices were a tiny bit on the expensive side, and parking is a PITA if you're coming during peak hours for downtown Mountain View. I am okay with paying a premium for a service that is not widely available, but parking and traffic in this area can be a hassle. Overall a great experience though, so I would definitely come back if I were in the area again. read more

Wonderful atmosphere and kind people. I've gone to everyone here, but Jessica is my favorite. (Although Qui and Mia also are knowledgeable and do an excellent job.) I never had any issues with waxing, but sugaring is so much easier on the skin and seems to last longer for me. Jessica is efficient and gentle. This was my first time getting any body part waxed so I thought legs and under arms were a safe place to start. I was nervous going in and my technician (Qui) barely said a word to me, I had to keep asking her questions I told her it was my first time and she just acted like she didn't want to talk to me. She rushed through the waxing, was incredibly rough and didn't take the time to get all of my hairs out. I still have A LOT of unwaxed hairs and root hairs on my legs, I'm not smooth at all and it was a complete waste of $50. What's the point of getting waxed if there's still hairs left over? I was in an out of the room in 10 minutes because she was so rushed and acted like it was a burden to do my waxing. This was probably my first AND LAST waxing appointment. I heard about sugaring and decided to give it a try. I work near downtown Mountain View and so I walked in to make an appointment. I knew that I could have made the appointment online which is just as convenient but I had a few questions so I decided to walk-in. I can't remember the receptionist name but she was very nice and answered all my questions. I had a Brazilian sugaring appointment with Jessica for a Friday afternoon. Before Jessica started my waxing, she explained what sugar waxing involved. It was really neat because the sugar is used at room temperature so it doesn't leave your skin red and inflamed and the skin also gets exfoliated in the process. She also told me that hairs won't grow back for another 3-4 weeks. Jessica was awesome....she talked to me the whole time she was waxing...which kept my mind off the pain. I do have a pretty high tolerance for pain and after going to European Wax Center, this was nothing! Don't get me wrong it's still a little painful but not as much as when hot wax is used. I did asked Jessica about why they open at 11:00 because I would have liked an earlier appointment. The cool thing is that the owner opens it that late so that the employees avoid traffic which I thought that was very thoughtful. Getting the Brazilian sugaring was a little more expensive then European Wax Center but it's worth it if I only have to do it once a month and it feels less painful. When I had to pay, the receptionist gave me a 25% discount for being a first-time customer. read more

I called and someone called me back within the hour to make the cancellation. Front lobby is clean and relaxing. Mia did my service. She is excellent. Explained the benefits of sugaring. I didn't get a Brazilian DONE for a year because my experience here was so brutal. Everyone was really nice, even though I waited for 10 minutes longer than my appointment. When I finally got sugared, thinking that it was going to less painful than waxing, I felt lied to. The sugaring itself wasn't what I expected, her method was so overwhelming. She kept ripping and ripping, I went into small shock, sweating and crying in the inside. I wanted it to be over. It was EXTREMELY PAINFUL. When it was over, I was drenched in panic sweat and bleeding, for hours I couldn't walk up right, it felt like someone had severed my skin off. I hated it. Don't go here. read more

I am so impressed by the results of my full face sugaring, I'm never going back to threading or waxing! For the past 10 years, I have religiously been getting threaded -- sometimes a torturous procedure for someone with thick hair and sensitive skin, like me. Finally I decided I just didn't want to deal with the pain any more. I'm so glad I discovered sugaring. I'll take sugaring with Qui over the best threader any day! Today was my first time sugaring my face, and it was a DREAM. It was painless except for some mild stinging after the pull. In fact, the anticipation of the pulling was the worst part (and it wasn't that bad). Qui was an expert and got a ton of hair off at once, and I love the attention she gave to preparing my skin and making sure it would heal well afterwards. I always get a slight histamine reaction after any hair removal (it seems I am allergic to the procedure of hair removal in any form), and I did have one after sugaring, but it was much less severe, was far less itchy, and the time of the reaction was much less. I can't ask for much more! I will say that my eyebrows didn't look quite as "done" as they do after threading, but this time I opted for more of a clean-up than shaping, as I have a naturally strong brow shape, so I think next time I will request a little more shaping. There is a parking lot behind the spa. I didn't have any trouble finding parking at 1 pm on a weekday. The chic, private, and spa-like ambiance of the place was definitely a plus, too. I'm mixed about my review on this place. On the one hand the receptionist is super sweet, welcoming and helpful. The customer service was excellent. I had a facial here but it was the first time I had a facial where the esthetician put a heated pillow for my neck and left the room for 10 to 15 minutes (possibly longer) I'll admit laying there I was pretty bored and wish I could just leave the room and felt it was a waste of time. read more

I was considering waxing my legs and bikini area when a friend told me about sugaring. I had never heard of it, but did some research and was glad to find out that the process is done in the direction of the hair growth and so is less likely to cause ingrown hairs. Also, many people reported that the hair that grew back was not as thick as before. Anyway, I decided to give it a try. I did a search online and was pleased to see that there was a salon right in downtown Mountain View. I called and left a message and Jessica returned my call within 24 hours. You can also go to their website and make an appointment online if you prefer. I was able to get in for an appointment when I wanted to with no problem. Jessica was very nice and professional. She thoroughly explained the process and told me what she was going to do each step of the way. The process wasn't painless, but I didn't think it was that bad. It stung a little, but was manageable. The salon was clean and quiet. It can be a little hard to find as it kind of blends in with the other businesses. Its storefront is understated and I missed it the first time past. The music they played during the session was OK, but it kept playing the same 2 or 3 songs over and over. There aren't many places in the South Bay that offer sugaring. Sugar Spa is literally the only place I've found since I moved here. If you haven't tried sugaring, you definitely should. I find that it lasts longer, and see significantly fewer ingrown hairs compared to waxing. In general, my skin just looks less "angry" afterwards. On to Sugar Spa. First off - let me say the quality of work done here is top notch. I've seen Qui several times and she does phenomenal work. Granted, she's a bit messy...sugar flying around and landing on walls, and last time she got a bunch of sugar stuck to the hair on my head (ouch!) However, the results have been consistently amazing. She's a cool, down to earth chick, and I always feel comfortable during the process. If this review was solely about her, I would give Sugar Spa 5 stars. The reason I'm only giving Sugar Spa only 2 stars is due to management making false promises. I had purchased a product called "Miracle Oil" that was supposed to help ingrown hairs. I tried it for a few weeks and it literally did nothing to help with the ingrowns, in fact, it gave me cystic ingrown hairs that were super painful. Fast forward 4 months to my next appointment, where I'm telling the manager how unhappy I am with the product, and how Qui recommended I try Phenomenal Oil instead. The manager assures me that if I buy the Phenomenal Oil, he would accept my return for the Miracle Oil, even though the purchase happened several months prior. Fast forward another three months (I had been out of the country) to my next appointment, where I try to return the Miracle Oil. I'm told by several people there that the manager likely will not accept it, even though he had promised earlier. I hear the sugar-ers talking about it while I'm in the treatment room, and it made me feel uncomfortable for even attempting to return anything. I'm not cheap, and I'm more than willing to pay high prices for effective products/services, but it felt like everyone there assumed I was a cheap person scheming to get a few extra bucks. When I check out, I am told the manager will not accept the return (he wasn't there in person). After a few hours pass, I get a text saying I am getting a $10 credit for my service. While I appreciate the gesture, it does not compensate for the $50 product I was unhappy with. For me, it's not about the money, but about the principal. If you say you are going to do something, then do it. I feel as if I was manipulated into buying a second product from Sugar Spa, on the assumption that they would accept my (late) return of my first product purchase. If a customer is unhappy with a product that you SOLD them on, then you should do something to fully rectify the situation. read more

This place is quite awful! They are inconsiderate and condescending. Qui and Jessica are sour-faces, Mia is ok. I got late by 10 mins due to being stuck in traffic, and they charged me half price and cancelled my appointment. Even doctors give a grace period of 10-15 mins - shows how little they value their customers. I wish I could rate them lower than 1. A spa experience is supposed to leave you relaxed, not quite the opposite. And they are pricey as hell! I found myself a new waxing studio and I think I did myself a wonderful favor by deciding never to go back in there. read more

The last two times that I went for a wax, the sugar wax is made incorrectly, or its old -something in it that makes the whole waxing experiences painful(consider that I have a high threshold for pain, I tweeze my lips hair). I didn't want to write about my express facial, as I wanted to wait a couple of weeks to see how my skin reacts. I've since had 3 comments on how young my skin looked. People thought I was 16 and 17, even though I was 29. No breakouts (I've had two facials before at pricier places--pretty much once a year). In the past, I've been scared of facials, as I always get a pimple or two right after. After being horrible to my skin in the last 7 months of studying and working full time, my skin felt congested, and I wanted to get rid of some blackheads. This time, it wasn't a problem. I commute to and from the Mountain View Caltrain station, and sometimes go to one of those dive-y nail/waxing joints along Castro to get my eyebrows tamed. Feeling especially Frida after work one day, I stopped by the usual place, which does an okay job, despite the unflattering florescents and the suspect hygienic practices... only to find them closed for the holidays. I went hunting for another place, and was told it would be 15 minutes. So I got some boba. Well right next door was the answer to all my prayers! A sugaring place (sugaring?) that was bumping some mid-90's hip hop, and looked clean and cozy. Kenny at the front desk gave me the low down, that they were new. I also got a 15% off coupon. Which I cashed in the very next day with Qui. Who is about the coolest chick ever. Her room was tidy, but comfortable, and very spa-like. She let me know her brow philosophy ("natural is better") which I happen to agree with, and we had a very relaxing session. She was thorough and professional, and the sugaring didn't hurt at all, compared with waxing and threading! She ended with a nice aromatherapeutic forehead massage and I came away looking like the best version of myself. I highly recommend this place. PROS: Ambiance ++, not painful, super professional, but friendly staff. Convenient to downtown. Also totally loved the online booking system. CONS: Tad pricey (but completely worth it.) read more

They refuse to answer their phones during business hours, making scheduling an appointment impossible. Their techs and professionals are fantastic, capable, and delightful. But when you can't even schedule an appointment, none of that matters. When I call during business hours and don't get an answer (repeatedly, by the way, at different times), it makes any satisfaction I may have pointless. read more

I go to sugar spa for my facials. I always see Mia, she does a really good job with my facials. It's not the cheapest place for your facials but it's worth it.
