This was my first time getting a wax ever in my life and I'm so happy I chose to sugar wax! I had researched a lot about waxing and the differences between regular waxing and sugaring before I made the decision to sugar for it's exfoliating benefits and the potential results. I was really nervous walking in because I didn't want to be judged for my hair but Shakema didn't judge me one bit! She trimmed what she needed to trim, and waxed me away! She made sure to get every spot of my legs, underarms, and bikini area (I got the Brazilian Bikini), and looked over the areas that she had waxed to make sure she didn't miss anything which I appreciated. She even told me that if I see anything that she may have missed to tell her and she will take care of it! I did have a stubborn underarm hair that didn't want to leave but she got it! She made me feel extremely comfortable and we talked the whole time! It was very pleasant and fun! I will say for a first wax, it did hurt, but not as much as I thought and it was different than I thought it was going to be. With sugaring, the specialist needs to make sure that the sugar paste is generously put on the area of hair or it will only remove parts of the hair, not the follicle. So it may feel like your skin is dragging along with the wax and the hairs but I promise, Shakema knew exactly what she was doing and talked through it with me every step of the way, asking me how I was feeling, and even gave me some breaks in between so I could take a breath, relax, and give the area that was being waxed a breather too (not that I needed it, but I'm glad I received it :D). My underarms and bikini area were the most sensitive, but that's normal for most people. After the waxing was finished, she put calming essential oils and lotion over the areas and I had a glitter tattoo put on me which was super cute (it lasts two weeks)! Since I was a new client I received the underarm wax free with booking the appointment online, and payed for Brazilian Bikini and Full Legs ($159). I was very happy with what I payed for and the experience I had! It hardly even felt like an hour and a half! I will be seeing her again for future sugarings and can't wait for the results! I will say, I got home an hour later and showed my mom on mothers day the glitter tattoo and how hair free I was. She was surprised that I wasn't red or irritated in any of the areas that were waxed! Really great experience!! Happy to have stumbled upon a much better option than traditional waxing, first off. It's literally sugar, water and lemon. No nasties or ingredients you can't pronounce. Plus, it's organic and exfoliates as you do it. It only pulls on dead skin and not new skin like traditional waxing. Hair grows back at a slower rate and becomes easier to maintain, holla (I did a little research on my end before going in!) Never have had anything done before, so this was a completely new experience for me. I usually shave, but am changing the way things go down there lol Anyways, so I originally make the appointment for 12:10pm and then needed to change it to 10am and had it handled hassle-free and super easy, and got notifications through text which was nice to know it's been confirmed. It's in suite 420 () on the fourth floor of a building. Go to the left after getting out of the elevator and straight down to the end of the hall. The man at the front desk told me exactly where to go! The place is super cute and pink. I low key love pink so I was happy. Jordan did my service and she was great! Okay so i gave 4 stars on a previous review before because of the pain, but when you come back your 2nd time, its No Where Near as painful! It only gets better, as do the results! Just after my very first sugar, my thick coarse dark hair grew back soo fine that i was Not ashamed to wear a skirt 3 weeks after, and up until my next appointment. Before when i used to shave, i Would feel stubble coming back the SAME day, BUT with the sugaring, im good for almost 2 weeks before i feel stubble. ALSO, its all thanks to SHAKEMA that i keep coming back!! I was having all types of issues from constant ingrown hairs and irritation. My friend recommended I try sugaring and suggested this location. Even though I have sensitive skin, I've been waxing for years and dealing with the red skin and irritation afterward as just part of maintaining a well-groomed appearance. After hearing about sugaring and its benefits, I decided to forgo my monthly waxing appointment for sugaring. Google suggested Sugaring Chicago, so I booked an appointment with Brittany (who came highly recommended) and took the proverbial leap of faith. Since this was my first time doing the sugaring method, Brittany talked me through the process and gave me aftercare instructions. The experience was much less painful than waxing, which Brittany explained was because sugaring attaches primarily to the hair instead of both your hair AND skin. This meant my skin was less irritated afterward and even now, several days later, my skin looks much better than it does when I've waxed. After two wonderful experiences, this one was disappointing. My appointment was delayed by 10 minutes, which normally wouldn't be an issue, but I had another appointment immediately following. The client before me was getting some sort of eyelash service and literally kelp asking the same questions over and over again, seemingly with no regard for those patiently waiting for their scheduled service. Once I got into the room, Brittney seemed a bit rushed, and my sugaring was much more painful than my previous two visits. In fact, my bikini line is still red and raw 3 days later, which again, did not happen after my previous visits. Perhaps going forward there can be one person in charge of taking payment so the technicians can focus on cleaning the room and servicing their next client. I had Brittany today, for my first time getting sugaring. I used to get waxed at some random place in Devon, but I think I'm going to switch to sugaring from now on. She was very nice. Since she knew it's my first time she's explained everything to me patiently. The place is super pink which is great. It doesn't hurt nearly as much as waxing. There's definitely some discomfort but literally next to waxing it's a walk in the park! Brittany was so friendly and kept supporting me and giving me fighting words! I got the after care things as well. I got a cute temp tattoo of a cat too. Overall everything was great I'm certain I will be coming back!!! I got a scrub and a spray for Anti-ingrown hairs. Also I did Yumi lashes!!! I'm extremely happy with my lashes. I always thought I had straight eyelashes and didn't think much of it. Until Brittany introduced yum I to me. And I tried it out. It's only 45 mins long!!! And the results are phenomenal. Brittany is the one that did all this!! I am definitely returning!!! UPDATE: So I've been going here for the last 2 months for my underarms and yesterday was the final straw. I got my underarms sugared by Shakema and they hurt SO BAD now. So much so that I have bruising!!! I mean the pain is constant. It burns just to wear my shirt to work today. I was shirtless at home all yesterday because it hurt so bad. During the service, I told her it hurts a lot and it was obvious I was flinching in pain but she brushed it off and kept going. Noooooo!!! Everytime she does my armpits they hurt SO BAD for several days after but this is the 1st time I saw bruising under BOTH arms. I've gone to their locations in NYC for over a year and never experienced this amount of pain nor bruising. I'm not coming here again. The pain and disregard isn't cool! read more

I highly recommend coming here and trying sugaring. It was my first time, and while it was painful, it was definitely worth it. I had a full face, Underarms and Brazilian bikini with Brittany who did an amazing job! She was personable and made me feel comfortable. I'm smooth everywhere and it was not as painful as waxing in the past. My skin is smooth, not irritated and brighter (especially on my face). Today was my first time coming I was extremely nervous and didn't know what to expect. My tech Brittany was superb completely amazing. Unlike most technicians her main focus was me the customer. Her customer service skills was out of this world. She made me feel comfortable and worked at a pace that was comfortable for me. My first time going to sugaring NYX was amazing. I got waxed by Jacoby, who was training at a time, she did a great job. I felt like I was talking to one of my close friends despite my legs being wide open on top of the table. Great techniques used; I was baby smooth. Fast forward to my second appointment which was booked last minute with Marielle. This was probably the worst wax experience I've ever had. Despite the awkward silence throughout the whole appointment, she did a bad job on my wax overall. There was so much hair left behind and so uneven that I was filled with regret leaving the spa. I went to my first ever waxing visit late November and I'm definitely going to try going back again whenever I can. I didn't know what to expect since it was my first time ever getting waxed and I was nervous. Brittany made me feel so comfortable though and she is a great person! I got a Brazilian and full legs. This was my first time getting a lash lift and tint. I have been very skeptical of the process and was a bit scared to do it. I have been wanting to do this for months now and when I came in for a wax I asked Marielle about it. She made feel at ease about the whole process and I was comfortable to get it done with her. Needless to say, this was very much worth it. The process is super fast and it is not as uncomfortable as it looks. The warm towels placed above your eyes are so relaxing. First time client here. I had 3 services done- Brazilian, full legs && underarms. I decided to try Sugaring Chicago when I heard its less painful than traditional waxing. I had Brittany do all 3 && it was not painful like I expected it to be. She was great! She even let me use my earphones && phone to play some music to distract myself while she did the Brazilian&& legs. I have had a Brazilian done before with regular wax at other places && it hurt. Sugaring Chicago is my new spot to go for all my waxing needs. I used to go to European wax center every 2-3 weeks. Often left with burns and had lots of ingrown hairs all the time. Once I discovered Sugaring Chicago and have them a shot back in October I realized that all my ingrown hair is gone because right after the sugaring treatment they use a special spray that closes the pores. They also have amazing body scrubs for sale with many flavors to choose from. My sugaring results still can be seen after 3,5 weeks now - I don't have hair on my legs and Brazilian.
