Wish I could give them 0 stars, but that was not an option. I booked services in February for April because I had a girls trip scheduled for my birthday. I booked a lash lift and tint, brow lamination, Brazilian/underarm/leg wax. I show up and they told me I wasn't in the books for the day. I showed them my confirmation email and text confirmation and they blamed it on switching over systems around the same time I booked. Strange, because I still received both email and text confirmation. Couldn't even manage to rebook me because they were having issues with the computer so I went elsewhere. Will never go back. Also, the customer in line in front of me showed up for her appointment and her aesthetician had apparently quit and they didn't let the customer know so they couldn't take her for her appointment either. So unprofessional. Do NOT go here. UPDATE: The manager of operations reached out and offered me a free Brazilian for the bad experience. Apparently, one of their aestheticians quit with no notice and their team in NY failed to notify their customers. Willing to give them another try someday but have booked my services elsewhere for now since I'm leaving for a trip in 4 days. This is my second time at Sugaring Chicago and the gals here always make me feel welcome and comfortable! The place screams pink and is the cutest thing ever. The location was tricky to find at first but it is located in the John Blair building (on the 4th floor) and the entrance is on Erie St. I got a Brazilian wax by Blanca and eyebrow wax by Marielle and both ladies were awesome! I've never done sugaring wax before so they made sure the experience was pleasant, to the point where I didn't even feel Marielle doing my eyebrow waxing! Very minimal pain to say the least! Price is decent and you do get 10% off of your Brazilian if you pre-book your appointment with them! You can always cancel/reschedule if needed. Today I tried this place for the very first time and it was not exactly what I expected, but also not a disappointment. I appreciated Maria for all she did. She was very professional and sweet- and kept it honest: that sugaring isn't completely painless. But less painful than a regular wax. It probably helped that I just gotten waxed almost two months prior- so not too much hair was there. I was very disappointed in my experience at Sugaring Chicago. After looking at the options on the website I chose to get the bikini wax because going off the description on the website, that should have been enough to clear my whole bikini area. However, the wax barely removed any hair, to the point that even with my underwear on, I can still see hair. Either the website needs to give a better description of what each wax offers, or the technician- who I told it was my first time there- should have suggested I get a different wax that actually took off more hair if she knew it wouldn't be enough. However, now I lost $30 plus tip and have a useless wax. I came here for my first wax ever! I had such an amazing experience. By the time I walked in I was greeted with such a beautiful and clean office. All the ladies in the front desk were extremely nice. NaSeita was so sweet once walking in she made me extremely comfortable she talked to me the whole time and made the experience better. UPDATE: So I've been going here for the last 2 months for my underarms and yesterday was the final straw. I got my underarms sugared by Shakema and they hurt SO BAD now. So much so that I have bruising!!! I mean the pain is constant. It burns just to wear my shirt to work today. I was shirtless at home all yesterday because it hurt so bad. During the service, I told her it hurts a lot and it was obvious I was flinching in pain but she brushed it off and kept going. Noooooo!!! Everytime she does my armpits they hurt SO BAD for several days after but this is the 1st time I saw bruising under BOTH arms. I've gone to their locations in NYC for over a year and never experienced this amount of pain nor bruising. I'm not coming here again. The pain and disregard isn't cool! read more

Super sketch place. Its an obscure location on the fourth floor of a building and when i went all the lights were off except for their office. Lobby is cute but the rooms are basically a cheap bed with a teenager giving you a wax. Not a quality experience at all. Brittany missed a whole section during my Brazilian. Reviews said she was chatty and nice which is very true but not I have to deal with this situation till my next wax. I previously posted a review that I feel the need to retract. I've been an avid waxer for years, and the pain was always tolerable. This was absolutely 10 times worse. I'm also swollen in every sugared area still with lingering pain. I don't recommend it at all. The process is prolonged compared to waxing, and more repetitive applications are needed in order to remove the hair. It hurts more than anything I've experienced in a while (I've regulatly waxed for 3 years) not worth the small organic benefit. Also I felt pressured to give a positive review while still in the facility. I have been going to sugaring NYC for a few years and invited my friends and students from my esthetician school here. I used to get waxed with soft and hard wax before sugaring. I get various areas waxed but this location seems to do incomplete rush jobs. I don't pay $180 and up for a service to have patches of hair irritation and redness and Ingrowns. I arrive to my appt 30 mins early, I did not expect to be seen right away but I was greeted and the girl at the desk was my esthetician. She apologized. Then she went to work on me and was not pulling the skin taut I tried to show her and she kept asking if I was ok and I didn't say anything because she is supposed to be the professional. It was painful and not effective. I don't like speed waxing or sugaring so many hairs were broke off and patches with long visible hair left which was blamed on the hair cycle but I know it was technique. She did not have enough wax and she was rushing maybe because it was Friday but I was charged $180. She tried to tweeze big sections that the hair broke off it was painful. They need to train their staff again. And why rush me when Im paying my hard earned money.. I have pics and it was patches and she asked if I was satisfied when I paid I told her I wasn't she could see how my skin looked. I could cry, I just want some of my money back I work too hard and caught an expensive Uber to get there on time. I would not suggest coming here. As an esthetician in 2 months hold the skin taut and the wax was drying and she wanted to keep using the same piece and it was pulling my skin. She also applied to large sections to speed it up. They do not care about thoroughness. I can't believe the service I received I can't recommend anyone comes here. The other site up north with charis (her name) was way better but how my skin is looking I'm don't want to come back because the quality is not worth the money anymore. The first time I went I had a great time with my aesthetician. She did miss a large section of hair on both of my legs, but I honestly didn't quite notice. The last time I went, I got full legs and a Brazilian. My legs are extremely patchy with sections of hair (long hair) that was not removed, same with bikini area. Additionally, I kept finding leftover sugar and baby powder all over my legs and back of my legs. Super friendly and great staff, but not as precise as I would like for the amount I am paying. Most unprofessional place I've ever been. I had a 3:45 appointment. I had some trouble finding them on the 4th floor in the back corner of an office building and walked in to an empty room at 3:49. After two minutes, a woman comes out, seemingly checks me in, and tells me that my waxer will be right with me. 12 minutes later - and now with three people waiting - my waxer shows up (with lunch) and tells me that she left because I wasnt there and she could not see me. I should've gotten a text. Wtf? I still havent received a text. And where do they cancel appointments within 5 minutes??! If that is your policy, you should really make clients aware in advance. And, if that was the case, why was I checked in and told to wait??!!! I didn't bother arguing there because it wasn't a place I wanted to be helped by that point. And, the lobby smells like nair. Finished my first sugar appointment and I'm very very pleased with the experience and the result. I have a girl who I go to for Brazilians and she is amazing, but I've been a little curious about sugaring and decided to try it out. Going forward, I will most likely stick to sugaring due to the decrease in pain. Usually during my appointments I'm drenched in sweat due to the pain and anxiety, but today was a very different experience. Overall, I'd say it was a 30% decrease in pain from waxing and it felt like it was over in 5 minutes. This experience was disappointing in every way. I did not have Brittany. I guess I should have followed the other reviews and requested her. I actually think she was there as there was a really nice person who was much more friendly than who did my service. This was my first time sugaring and I've only had waxing one other time. So I asked questions. From start to finish I was there 15 minutes which is not a good thing because my technician was rushing, dismissive, and not friendly. She did not explain well what was she doing or ask or show me along the way to see if that's what I wanted. She said she couldn't do the service I requested and I agreed to a lesser service. She acted annoyed when I asked what options I had. She did not listen to me, it rather told me what I had to do. She was negative in her approach and condescending. The interaction with her was uncomfortable, it made me want to leave before I started. I should have. She took off areas I had specifically asked to leave there. I was shocked when I looked in the mirror. When I talked to her about it, she acted like I had not addressed it. She did not listen to me in the beginning when I told her what I wanted. She did take money off the bill, and I appreciate that, but it doesn't replace what was taken off or fix the way I look now. I have vacation and upcoming plans and am stuck with no way to fix what she did. It also doesn't fix how bad the customer service was. In addition, it hurt 100 times more than my first waxing. Don't bother paying extra for the numbing spray. It didn't work, although that could've been because she didn't wait five minutes she put it on and immediately started. The space is fine, cutely decorated, but the beds are not quality and there was no covering of any kind offered. Everything was rushed and bare bones. I live nearby and was looking forward being a regular customer. Unfortunately, my experience was so terrible I will never go back. No amount of money can fix poor customer service and what I walked out with and the effect on my upcoming plans. read more

The atmosphere was fine and cute and all but I'm not sure this was the experience for me. I didn't think I was going to have such a hard time with this as I heard it was less painful than waxing and I have a fairly high pain tolerance. I knew it was probably going to hurt but GOD DAMN. Perhaps the pain would've been worth it if I got smooth results but it just looks and feels like a shaving incident gone wrong. It's been about a day and my lady parts feel bruised like I got punched in the labia and it looks like I have a horrible rash.
