Went to Sugo Gastrobar last night for dinner. The food was excellent. Salad was great and my gf pizza was delicious. My wife had the scallops and said they were delicious. Our waiter was James and he was excellent. Very attentive, friendly and personable. We watched him at the tables beside us and he is a great shmoozer. We liked him a lot. I have food allergies and he was very attentive, looking things up and checking with the kitchen. Made me feel comfortable. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. The menu had a wide selection, something to please most people. We will be going back again to try more things! read more

What a wonderful restaurant! Have been there twice so far. The lunch specials (2 for $18.99 or 3 for $18.99) were remarkable. I chose the 3 item option. Soup, gnocci bolognese, dessert. All were quite delicious and the portions were generous. The ambiance, inside and out is lovely. Lovely restaurant! Great happy hour! I started with the happy hour menu and ordered the cactus honey and the arancini with some calamari. I then ordered the short ribs pappardelle pasta. Everything was amazing! So flavorful! The drink was strong and delicious. The food was unique and full of flavor. Interior was beautiful and cozy and the bar. The bar was pretty packed and service wasn't bad. Only thing I would mention is the AC could be stronger on a hot day like today. I noticed the kitchen was open to the whole dining area which could be the cause of extra heat. Overall I had a good experience though. read more

Absolutely love this place. We have been twice with our 4 and 6 year old. We tend to go earlier so it's not so busy. The drinks, service, and food were consistent on both occasions. There is no "kids menu" but they have kid options. The first time our kids had the pizza and second time they had what looked like a chicken cutlet sliced up served with fries. I was a big fan of the lamb, filet, and bruschetta. Some might say it is loud but having kids, I don't mind it at all. It is very cute inside. They also offer crayons for the kids to color in place mats. We will deff be going back. read more

Food was excellent! Service was great. The restaurant has a wonderful cozy but chic atmosphere. Definitely make sure you make reservations especially on a Saturday night. We didn't know this but that's ok we got to sit by the bar and be served by the owner. Was a really great experience. Get the sugo cake for dessert it will not disappoint. The atmosphere, presentation of the cocktails through desserts, I must say - this has quickly become my new favorite restaurant!

5 stars for food and 0 stars for noise. My husband and I and another couple went on Saturday night for dinner. None of us have been to this restaurant before but we heard good things. I give the food five stars it was absolutely delicious! We started with fried artichokes and the sauteed shrimp. Then we had the lamb chops, Montauk tuna, Pollo Scarpariello and a swordfish special. Where I give the restaurant a 0 star is for the noise level. The four of us were yelling at each other in order to talk and we still couldn't hear each other. I saw on the ceiling they put sound panels which did absolutely nothing. Maybe put up curtains or shades to help with the sound but this is the downfall of the place. It is not an enjoyable or relaxing dinner yelling at each other. Next time we will see if we can sit outside where it is less noisy with the traffic going by or we will go for lunch. read more

the interior is really beautiful. The menu has a great selection of apps and entrees. Our server wasn't great- she was doing too much behind the bar at the same time and wasn't so attentive to the table so we felt like their were long gaps of when we saw her and then getting the check at the end was tough. We had the Sunday sauce and rigatoni which was great (would have liked it a bit hotter) and a delicious salad and the vodka pizza. Overall, very good, just wish the server was more attentive. read more

Let me start by saying that the first time we tried Sugo, we were blown away. They had just opened, and the food, service and atmosphere were stellar. Last night my wife and I returned for the first time since then, and it just wasn't the same. The waiter for our section was overcommitted, so a server took our order. There's a difference between a waiter and a server, my friends. It took way too long for him to take our order, and the food took way too long to come out. To be fair, the hot oil pizza we ordered was delicious - and the mozzarella sticks and fried artichokes were decent. But the cacio e pepe was inedible (dry, cold and flavorless), while the salad was somehow devoid of flavor, as well. (How you screw up a salad with mixed greens, cherry tomato, roasted red pepper, and fresh mozzarella is anyone's guess, but they somehow managed to do it.) Our server-turned-waiter didn't make anything better, by the way. When he asked why we didn't eat the pasta or the salad and we told him that both dishes were less than awesome, he just shrugged and cleared our plates. When I was in the food service biz, that was always my cue to apologize and take the items off the bill - but not this guy. If you want a better Italian meal, try Mangia Mi East around the corner. read more

We knew to get there early on Friday night because this place gets crowded especially on Fridays. The patio is nice but it's right near the street so it gets noisy.
