We ordered toasted ravioli that was completely cold and once they corrected it then it was amazing! As an online food and entertainment critic and influencer I'm always being asked about restaurants. Sugos's in Frontenac on Clayton Road between Spoede and Lindbergh is always on my list of highly recommended restaurants. With somewhat a smaller menu with a couple off menu specials, the quality and quality control is mor manageable. Known for some of the best risotto dishes in town, and their legendary Del Pietro salad with the red wine vinaigrette is as classic as it gets. My last visit 2 nights ago I got an off menu special of their veal picatta on a generous bed of noodles and artichoke hearts. It was very tasty, cooked to perfection, and the veal just melted in your mouth. The service is always good, your food comes out quick, and the casual vibe just makes it a very comfortable place to go no matter the occasion. The prices are very reasonable and not going to break the bank. The owner comes from a legacy of a restaurant family that has owned and still owns many favorite popular restaurants in the St Louis metro area including on in Columbia. Missouri. These people know how to run a good business and gives their customers a great value. Out of their entire menu there is only one weak link and that is the lasagna which I would never recommend because frankly speaking just was not good at all. But if that's the only thing I could nitpick, I'd say this was a pretty successful restaurant that always draws a nice crowd. If you live anywhere within the central corridor of St Louis and just can't think of anywhere to go or have been to your favorites too many times, head over to Sugo's and I promise you, it will become of your favorite go to restaurants. read more

Delicious food and great service, but expect a long wait for your food! We ordered food around 7:25 and didn't receive it until 8:15 or so. Fortunately I was in a bigger group and the time passed quickly, but definitely don't come if you have somewhere you need to be soon. Loved the ambiance, although it was pretty loud overall, and hard to hear the person next to me talking sometimes. Parking was also difficult on a Saturday night and I had to circle twice before finding a spot. We started out with complimentary bread that was ok. I ordered the funghi pasta and as a mushroom-lover, it was perfect. I'm glad it wasn't overly buttery/salty, and the notes of mushroom came through the yummy sauce. One of my friends ordered the HUGE lasagna---it was bigger than my face. Not surprisingly, she brought half of it home for her lunch tomorrow. Another friend tried the chicken spedini and liked it, although it's on the smaller portion size. She was the only one who finished all of her plate. The meatballs in the spaghetti were also really, really big. My Aperol Spritz was fine but the tonic in my fiancé's G&T was flat. I enjoyed the eggplant parm app as it was more deconstructed and not loaded with cheese. We split the field green salad. Too much gorgonzola and a bit too heavily dressed for my taste. Lastly, the Margarita pizza was awful. Ladened with cheese, some grape tomatoes and basil. More of a cheese pizza than Margarita. The Branzino my fiancé ordered was bad. Greasy, pan-fried, over cooked Brussels sprouts and gummy gnocchi. Plus there was no beurre blanc. Just a greasy mess. This is the Spaghetti restaurant across from Plaza Frontenac located in the strip mall. It has nice atmosphere, clean and sophisticated. People that live around area will enjoy a close meal and decent to go place. The prices on menu not that costly 10$ to 20$ a person. The Table bread Focaccia was good came with olive oil and grated cheese. The menu had limited items and one half of the page was just a listing of wines. This would be great if you like wines but only a few well drinks listed. Most of our table wanted water and came in used wine bottles to pour your own. This works well if the server is prompt and keeps the bottles full but many times in the meal all 3 bottle were empty. The food is okay middle road not the greatest lasagna but the portion was good size and price point low. My daughter had rigatoni ate all the noodles but did not like the sauce. Asked her about the meal this morning and she thought it was just okay. The only option for desert was the Tiramisu and was the best part of the meal. This was first time coming here. Normally don't write up reviews this quickly. This night was a special occasion birthday and this place was where they wanted to go. However, they lost her credit card. They took the bill and credit card and lost it in the restaurant. We sat their for long time watching waiters walk around with the phone lights on looking for it. Then finally the waitress came told us what happened. When restaurant closes they would turn up lights and look for it. - I will Stop Here and say what the restaurant should have done was pay for meal and apologize for the huge mistake but no my MIL who's birthday it was still paid for the meal. She the type that does not want make any scene and bring any attention to herself very kind opposite to a Karen. This is reason that I am writing this review. This experience was terrible and needs to be out on social media. They did find her card and she has to go drive up today and retrieve it. We ended up going to Sugo's for our anniversary. We had searched for a few tried and true spots we love but nothing had availability. We found Sugo's via searching and found availability. The patio was nice but crowded (rightfully so, it was a beautiful evening). It seems a perfect spot for appetizers and wine. I didn't realize when we went that it isn't great for children. This wasn't indicated on Yelp. There's no specific menu for children which I usually don't mind anyway. Her milk came in a glass with a straw so I'm guessing kids don't go there often. I was nervous that it would fall or spill. I ordered spaghetti so that my daughter would eat that. The sauce wasn't rich and hearty but thin and didn't stick to the pasta so I was disappointed. Nothing to absorb the frequency levels so it was bouncing everywhere. The veal with lemon sauce was a little thick for it to be a lighter fare menu item. The pasta was not over cooked, which was a plus. Just the overall quality of the ingredients was disappointing. I am an Italian food snob, so it has to just right to get five stars from me. So I came here with a coworker on our lunch break on a mission to eat cheese! The most appealing item on the list that fit into the description was the Fettuccini Pollo Alfredo-cream garlic sauce, roasted chicken, Parmigiano cheese. I ordered the half and was glad for it because between the free bread and the pasta I was very full. The pasta was so good! Very rich and flavorful. The chicken so juicy and the sauce so creamy. The website and google says they are OPEN TIL 10:00, we got there at 9:03 and they turned us away because they said the kitchen was closed at 9:00. The bartender told us that the owner is aware of this issue and has been asked to update the hours repeatedly but has not. We literally wasted an hour of our Saturday night and not to mention the gas that was wasted as well. This is absolutely unacceptable. The choices are appetizers, salads, pasta, pizzas, and meats, many of which come with options for half or full portions. I ordered the Caesar salad and Pollo Milanese, both of which pretty good. To reserve a table, I put our name on the restaurant's Waitlist. We were seated immediately, and service was prompt and helpful. The pesci special was a bronzino fish, oven seared with the skin still on. The fish--served on a plate of roasted squash, cucumbers and tomatoes--would have been perfect. However, the whole plate was DROWNED in a fatty oil, making the vegetables extremely soggy. The lasagna and chicken picatta were passable, but as a rule all of the dishes were consistently salty. Someone brought us water without glasses. 10 minutes later a waitress came for drink orders. 10 more minutes and the drinks came but no water glasses. 10 more minutes and bread came, stale bread. We ordered a house salad and a pasta. 10 more minutes a salad showed up, no question if we wanted parmesan, it was already smothered. Finally the pastas came and there was so much parmesan on it i could't eat it. When did they stop asking how much chees you wanted at the table. I've come here for years and always liked it--I even used them for several casual parties. However,I had not been in a few years and my most recent experience did not live up to the standards I had come to expect. It started out promising--the bread was good, the waiter (Tony) was friendly and prompt with service. We ordered the Del Pietro salad and it was not as good as we remembered--it just tasted off--dressing was sparse, tomatoes were flavorless, lettuce was mostly fine, but with huge pieces thrown in. It used to be very tasty and this was just meh. We ordered a funghi pizza, which used to be our favorite. The toppings were as we remembered and they tasted good, but the crust (dough) tasted hard and stale. We ate most of the pizza and just mentioned the staleness to the waiter so that he could give the feedback to the chef. He took our last remaining piece back to the chef and his attitude seemed to change towards us from that point forward. He came with our check, he came with our receipt and there was no further word about the pizza, its staleness or anything. He had been very friendly up until that point and we left pretty baffled. We were so disappointed tonight!! The restaurant was very impressive at arrival, it has a upscale feel and look. It was Monday night, not busy, seated and greeted immediately. It was our first visit and our last!! My eggplant Parmesan, was not tasty, covered in what seemed a entire can of diced tomatoes, the eggplant was sliced very thin and seemed burnt. The Lasagna my friend ordered had one slice of pasta on it & too much beef and tomato's, the sauce was runny. It was tasteless, stouffer's would have tasted better! She left most of it. We said no, we didn't like the dinner very much, she was expressionless, and said I'm sorry you didn't like it, as she picked up the plates and walked away. I came to Sugo's on a Friday night with a large party, of 16, for a friends' birthday. We realized they don't take reservations, but only so when we got to the front (we had thought our friend made reservations but they don't take them). After a lot of confusion and people showing up a little late, we finally got seated at two tables inside. It was a nice place, dimly lit, water in nice bottles on the table, and free bread. I decided to split food with my two friends, so we ordered the Diablo Pasta (spicy tomato sauce with shrimp and mussels) and Sugo's Pizza (pizza with a lot of types of meat). I had read on yelp that the portions were fairly large, and we found that to be true. We ate most of the pasta, but had about three slices of pizza leftover! Definitely split food here because it is quite large, and actually reasonable if you split too. Service was great, food was amazing, and overall awesome experience! Definitely would come again. Years ago everything here always tasted amazing. I swear the pizzas were hand tossed, thicker crust, treated with more spices, and had tons more love put into them. For instance, the mushroom pizza I remember used to have several varieties of mushrooms and a great finishing sauce, but the one I got last night was bland and boring and just adequate. It hit the spot but it was nothing special like I remember, just a thin cheese pizza with one type of mushroom. I have better luck at their sister restaurant Babbo's in chesterfield. I was there Wednesday night with a friend and felt like our waitress was seriously rushing us. Every time she came to our table, you could tell she wanted us gone. This smaller restaurant is nicely decorated and felt very modern to us. The food was excellent and not too ridiculously priced (especially for Frontenac). I had the funghi pasta and it was soooo good. The waiter seemed a little overwhelmed by our party of nine, as did the bar although there was barely anyone else in the restaurant at the time (dinner time on a Wednesday). The service took quiiiite a long time and we had to ask for things like the check, water refills, etc. several times before the request was fulfilled.
