This location is not nearly as good as the one located in Edwards, IL. Salad was delicious but Toasted Ravioli was. It good. It was made a corn bread and did not come with the creamy red sauce. Staff was very nice and friendly. Ladies Bathroom was dark, freezing cold and no hot water. Simple changes could make this beautiful restaurant 5 stars! PS: excellent wine selection! read more

Two servers came to the counter, no acknowledgement or hello 7:28PM - Host came to counter, told me it would be five minutes 7:32PM - Food ready, no to-go utensils because the restaurant doesn't own them The food was subpar, like the quality of an Olive Garden. I thought the portion size was extremely small for what you get. The seafood pasta cost $16, and you would probably get twice the amount at Olive Garden. The caesar salad and garlic bread were okay. When we drove up on Weds. evening, the front of the building was completely dark - no lights outside on the sidewalk or marking the entrance. After finally locating a side door, I commented to the hostess and she was throughly disinterested. The large dining room remained dimly lit throughout our meal, requiring phones to read the menu. Awful dinner items; everything drenched in sauce to mask the sloppy, poorly prepared lasagne, chicken and pork dishes. Don't call it pizza, it was cardboard flatbread with crumbled sausage and no cheese. My young son would not eat more than one slice. Never again - don't waste or time or money! The food & service was excellent, as always. Disappointed that a family with 3-Dogs sat next to us. 2 of us are highly allergic, to dogs. It would have been nice to be asked if sitting them next to us, would be a problem. We planned to have a nightcap but we're unable to do so, because of the allergy situation. read more

Can't help it, I like the chicken spedini too much to feel adventuresome with the menu. And it didn't disappoint. It is the best chicken spedini anywhere in my opinion--and generously portioned. I always take some home. I do have one "criticism." Why on earth do they offer only tiramisu for dessert? Sweets are my weakness, but this is one dessert that has zero temptation for me. read more

Tonight, I dined with a friend and enjoyed a great evening at Sugo's. We dined in the bar area that offered two menus. One for the Sugo's area and another for the Via Vino bar area. We started with the cheese and olive plate for an appetizer. They were delicious and the quality of cheese offered was good. An amazing blue cheese and white cheddar served alongside some pickled green and red olives. Next, we opted for a caesar salad with anchovies and a Delpietro. Both were a great size and allowed for leftovers. Have to save room for our main courses. A wonderful warm baguette was served along with some nice olive oil. Next, we ordered two pizza's Funghi and Babbo and were we were impressed with the size. I love the crispy crust and the large roasted garlic which was soo sweet. Plenty of toppings made this a great tasting pizza. I will be back I thought the food and price were a great value. read more

This was our first time here and probably our last. The service was just terrible and they seemed to have lots of workers. I think we didn't have a designated wait person and we got service only when we flagged someone down. We were finished for quite a while before I could get anyone to bring our bill. Then it was incorrect by about triple! Thank goodness I was paying attention. Food was good, not great. read more

I got the Pomodoro pasta and it was average. Portion size was big but the sauce mediocre. I've been here before and got pizza and I'd say their pizza is much better. But there are so many better pizza places in town that I wouldn't essentially go back here. Our waiter was good but he was slow. It seemed like he had too many tables. My least favorite part is when you are all done and just want to get the check and be on your way but it takes much longer than it should. read more

It's a low key place with great service and great food. The ambiance is nice; it's not quiet, but it's not rowdy. We like it and keep going back. Last night was the second consecutive time I opted for the one of the specials and both times they were delicious. Honestly, the side dishes that come with them are amazing. Tried this place for lunch today. Asked for the wifi password from two employees. Was told there was no password but neither came back. When I wentt to ask which wifi, I was told they couldn't find the password that didn't exist Tried the cobb salad with a couple of wines. Ordered takeout from this place while in town for work. The food was delicious and fresh. We ordered the delpietro salad, a caesar salad, pasta pomadoro, pasta funghi, and a margarita pizza. Everything was well-packaged to go. The salads were fresh with salad dressing that tasted house-made. Accompanied by warm and soft focaccia. The pastas were perfectly flavored. The pizza was thin and crispy with toppings distributed evenly. Really good food and friendly service. I highly recommend takeout from this place. read more

Had dinner here on a Saturday evening and was VERY underwhelmed. The service was ok, but not spectacular. The bread served before dinner was warm but there wasn't any butter(only olive oil). My Caesar salad was pretty standard. The true travesty was the entrees. My father ordered the lasagna and it came out BLACK on the top, which the kitchen tried to hide with a mountain of shaved Parmesan. He had to dismantle the dish to find edible bites. My bolognese sauce tasted vaguely garlicky but otherwise flavorless. I decided I would just box it to go and try to doctor it up at home. My sister (vegetarian) got the tortellini and thought it was ok. Most successful dish of the three. I wasn't going to write a review, but I just opened up my box of leftovers and found my sisters tortellini instead. So my poor vegetarian sister went home with my meat leftovers. And now neither of us will eat them. These were boxed and swapped by our server who was aware of my sisters dietary restrictions. Fail. Over all, there's literally no reason to go here. Unless you maybe win a gift card and the meal will be entirely free. Even then it's a maybe. read more

I took my cousins to diner there last night and nothing about it was good. Ordered appetizers, salads and entrees. Could finished one plate before the other was brought out. I was so rushed it was awful. One of the people order salmon dinner and asked for all Broccoli instead of Cauliflower, but the waitress wasn't sure that could happen until the salmon dish arrived. I think that the waitress should have gotten back to party and just maybe they would have ordered something else. By the way the salmon could not be prepared with out the oil. I'm my wildest dreams , who in fact is the customer me the one paying the bill or the cook. Who runs the show. My cousin asked then if the oil could be left on the on the side. You guess it the salmon has the oil on the plate. I never complained but I wound have if it had not been for my wife taking our cousins to dinner. OK one little bit of a rant. I asked for a diet soda and got an 8oz diet Coke in a bottle. grrr. OK I then switched to Ice Tea. I wanted to try Sugo's for sometime now and the wife had made plans for dinner with some old friends. I was asked where do you want to go and Sugo's just popped in my head. It is in some ways what the Pasta House should be or was. Good pasta served at good prices. Pasta House bless them have gotten a little bit expensive. So here is what I had. I had the Pasta Diablo. Which was a cool name for pasta with mussells, bits of fish and some shrimp in a soupy red sauce. I also had the house salad. Both were very good solid dishes. They are not nor will they ever be "the best" because they are not trying to be. They are hitting a price point and do it very well. The service was good not great but heck these are not people who are going to be in the business their whole lives so I guess I get it. It was not overly crowded but it sure was noisy with a bunch of little urchins wailing and crying for whatever reason. Well one kid did have a reason she was in a booster seat and managed to crash her chair and herself to the ground. While the little things was not hurt you could see she was winding up for a huge wailing cry. It took her I bet 10 seconds before she let go. Could be a record not sure but could be. read more

This place has great food! Everyone enjoyed there food and the server was great! Now the issue is they do not do reservations. HOWEVER, we called at the beginning of the week and the manager Patrick said they would be able to reserve 12 top for us. When we arrived the hostess acted like a bouncer and was like "yeah we don't do reservations and whoever said that is wrong" well it was Patrick who doesn't respond to his emails... anyways they got us sat down in about 45 mins. Again food was good, drinks were good! Just don't expect to make reservations and if they say they will do it for you. They're lying!! read more

Nice great-looking space, looks like possibly patio seating when the weather is nice. Standard pasta offerings, special of the day. I tried the pollo alfredo. The cream alfredo sauce was a lot thinner than I'm used to on a pasta like this. It wasn't fettucine, but I don't qute remember the noodle - thinner than a fettucine I think. Service was a little hit/miss on this - our first - visit here. She didn't ask if we wanted drinks before we ordered the meal. If that's normal, when we ordered food, if we didn't say a drink, she didn't ask to make sure that meant we didn't want a drink. She came over at one point, asked if we needed anything, and when one person immediately said yes, she walked away quickly before I could even open my mouth to ask for a refill. They may have been understaffed that day, or it could have been a one-off type thing. I'd be willing to give this place another try. read more

It's easy to wear out the usual Frontenac haunts, so my mother suggested a trip to Sugo's for dinner after taking in a 7 pm show at the Landmark Theater at Plaza Frontenac. I had not been to Sugos, located as it is in a strip mall off of Clayton Road, and was not certain what to expect on my visit. After a hot, muggy day the dimly lit, cool space was inviting. The menu presentation was refreshing as well, with the wine selection (glass or bottle) written on the chalkboard up front and on laminated menu cards on the tables. The menu is similarly uncomplicated (think salads, pastas, and flatbread pizzas) with little to confuse or overwhelm the first time visitor. My mother and I both started out with wines by the glass--red for her and the house white for me. Salads were the star of the meal. I enjoyed the tomato-mozzarella, as it featured yellow tomatoes (my favorite in summer) and manageable pieces of buffalo mozzarella, versus the slabs that customarily grace salads of this type. The balsamic vinaigrette was well executed also, and appears to be a stalwart, as it accompanied my mother's salad of field greens. The salad portions are generous without sacrificing flavor or freshness. For the mains, my mom and I both went with pastas. I was told that the portions would be substantial (forewarned is forearmed) and was counting on leftovers. I enjoyed my pasta pomodoro--a simple presentation featuring spaghetti, vine-ripened tomatoes, garlic, and parsley. My mom ordered the chicken cannelloni, which was good as well. As promised, there were ample leftovers (I suppose the fact that nearly every patron walking out the door had to-go boxes in tow should have clued me in). FYI: Tiramisu is the only dessert on the menu, though with the other items on offer, dessert is beside the point unless one is carbo loading for either 1) a marathon or 2) in anticipation of winter hibernation (I wish!). Next time, I might consider splitting a pasta portion, or going with one of the flatbreads. read more

I ate here for dinner last night and my meal was really just so-so from start to finish. The bread was mediocre, although the olive oil provided for dipping was delicious. My salad (the tomato with blue cheese slices, basil, olive oil and red wine vinegar) was the highlight of the meal, and I appreciated the twist on the traditional caprese salad. My meal was very mediocre though it sounded delicious in theory. I got the fish special, Salmon with basil pesto over a caprese risotto. I am not a huge risotto fan or afficionado, but I love caprese-themed food and salmon. The salmon was overcooked (although the portion was generous) and the risotto seemed undercooked to me. I sampled a sicilian style pizza of a fellow diner and thought that was delicious (and was huge! definitely the bargain), but overall a pretty disappointing meal. read more

I've been here three times and the pasta is consistently salty and the service is consistently poor. I'd like to give it 2.5 stars, but apparently half stars aren't possible. I give it three stars because the prices are reasonable, the wine list is thoughtful and well priced, and the decor is comfortable. Based on the food and service though, I won't be back. I don't understand the salty food and poor service; I don't experience these things at other Del Pietro establishments. The lasagna looks terrific and would be "good" if not for the salt. I am not salt-sensitive and yet tonight I couldn't even finish the portion I split with my husband, who also thought it was ridiculously salted. This happened previously with the spaghetti and meatballs dish. Service: While we were seated quickly, we then waited over 5 minutes for the server to come and say she would be "right back". About another 5 minutes passed before she did. Someone else brought the salads, promised to be "right back" with fresh pepper and was still missing for another 8 minutes (yeah, by this time I was timing the infractions) when we finally flagged down someone else. I had the Funghi Pasta and there wasn't really that earthiness that I expected and the broth didn't have much flavor. Maybe I ordered wrong. I heard a friends pizza was good. The service was fine. This place had some decent Italian food, but I had some issues with the hostesses this evening. Walking in we were addressed with "How can I help you" which wasn't bad, it was just weird because obviously we were there to be seated to eat dinner. Throughout dinner, it was very unfitting to see the three of them all on their phones in the center of the dining area. Finally, following our dinner, I hadn't finished, but I was almost there with just a few bites left. Even so, one of the hostesses cleared the empty plates of the two people I was with, leaving me eating alone, unnecessarily. All of these things made the meal quite uncomfortable regardless of how great our waitress was. The hostesses just seemed under trained in their professionalism for the most part. Their mannerisms didn't fit in with the restaurant atmosphere, and they need to be made aware that they are a part of the dining experience. Please fix this before I return for more cannelloni because as for the food, the cannelloni was actually very delicious. The veal was a bit tough and dry. Compliments to the bar next door because even though there's no cocktail menu, your waiter can go to the bar next door. Someone who I was with ordered a very tasty and strong Old Fashioned. We were very disappointed that they lacked a dessert menu tonight. A positive though is that we were seated immediately right before 6pm on a Thursday, without needing reservations. read more

While back in St. Louis visiting my parents, we decided to grab dinner out (always a crapshoot with my 14 month old in tow!) and my dad suggested Sugos. I am glad he did! It was great! We came in around 630 on a Saturday night. Were seated right away (4 adults and a high chair) - the waitress was super quick and very good. Wine came out immediately after being ordered and our entrees came hot, quickly and delicious! The veal special (Picatta) was delightful and I (and the 14 month old) loved the Pomodoro! The appetizer eggplant was perfect size and delish! Service was great, food was great and it was super kid friendly! Thumbs up! read more

We visit Sugo's or get take-out periodically given it's good location and decent food. We recently visited and were surprised to see no masks on the greeter or wait staff. We have an ordinance in StL County and frankly, it's a small courtesy. Other than the masks, half of our food was good and the other half was over salted veal. I'd like to think we'll be back but come on now...wear some masks. read more

Grabbing a last minute date night; didn't realize it was so late (7:30 with an 8:00 close). The manager insisted it was not a problem, and seemed sincere, so we sat and promptly ordered 2 salads and a pizza with our drinks. Our waitress was super cute and friendly, and was attentive without rushing us. Sugo's Caesar salad is our favorite, and didn't disappoint, and our pizza was piping hot. We also ordered 3 spaghetti/meatballs to go for our kids, which fed all 6. Great local spot, great food, great service! read more

Ambiance of the restaurant was very intimate and lovely. Came with a large party, and they were very quick with us, until closing time came and they made a very huge point to get us out of there. Aka, began cleaning the floors, turning out the lights, etc. definitely could have been my party's problem, but absolutely felt rushed... However, I ordered the mushroom pasta! This is one of my favorite places to order pasta, outside of the Hill. The Pomodoro is excellent, as are all of them - great for take out, but great atmosphere for dining in as well. I would order this weekly if I lived closer... definitely recommend! Look, I don't know what it was. All I know is that our service was kind of crappy and our food was beyond 'meh' for what we paid. It was edible and warm, so the place gets 2 stars, but complaints are as follows: 1. The service was inattentive in a slow restaurant 2. My husband's veal special was a mess. Soggy veal on top of garlic glue, excuse me, cauliflower puree. The composition and textures of this dish were all wrong, not to mention the out of balance flavors. $18 for this? 3. If the husband's veal was a mess, the Pollo Alfredo was an absolute disaster. The chicken was bland, tough, and there was a ridiculous amount of it. The Alfredo was tasteless and watery (?!). How does one make Alfredo watery??? 4. My kids' pizza tasted like cafeteria food. We won't be back, and I can't recommend it. read more

We came here for dinner on Father's Day. We didn't plan ahead and forgot to make reservations, and when we called around many places were booked. Someone in our party mentioned that this place does not take reservations, so we could stop by and see if they had an opening, which they did. We were sat right away inside, and they actually have a fairly large patio for outdoor seating. Our server was very friendly and came over to take our drink orders right away, and told us the specials. We got some bread for the table with oil and some parmesan. For our group of 5, we each got something different. I had the lasagna, my SO had a "pollo' pizza, and the others in our group got the cannelloni, shrimp risotto, and the veal parmagiano. The other in our party all seemed to really enjoy their dishes, and they looked really good. The lasagna was really good, and really big. The portion sizes are much bigger than I expected for the price. I actually had enough for lunch the next day. The pizza also was really good, kind of like a crispier thin crust type, with a nice light taste. We were also able to bring about half of that home, as it was too much for one person. All in all, I thought the food was really good, and a good value considering how much you get for a very reasonable price. We will definitely come back, and maybe sit outside next time. read more
