We went to Sukai with a large group of 12 for a celebratory dinner. The reservation was for 9:00pm, and despite the whole party being present, we were seated over an hour after our reservation. We were able to get drinks while waiting and enjoyed the balcony view - which was nice. But it really would have been great if the hibachi table had been available to us closer to the reservation time. Despite that, we had a great time at dinner. The chef was super charming, funny, but most importantly talented and made sure to prepare everyone's food with their dietary requirements and food preferences in mind - all while entertaining us making delicious food prepared table side! This was the first time that immediately after eating, we also had the Hibachi Chef do a fire dance! Great food, freshly prepared- I just hoped for a little more with the service. This was my first visit to Sakai. The ambiance and our server was great. However the food was just mediocre. All the good reviews are definitely misleading. We ordered the Wok Seared Filet Mignon with white rice and the Spicy & Crispy Chicken with the bacon fried rice. Both rice were slightly crunchy underdone. The garlic sauce on the mignon was very strange it did not taste good at all. The filet was very tender. The chicken dish had sautéed onions which they were more raw than sautéed and the teriyaki sauce did not taste like teriyaki. The chicken was tuff and rubbery. Not good. The server said both of these dishes were popular??? We noticed most people were drinking alcohol in the restaurant so maybe that's why the reviews were good they were drunk and we were sober! This review is for Sukai's bar and lounge. Come enjoy this hidden gem! YOU DONT NEED A RESERVATION and it's a good vibe with cheap drinks and the comfiest seats to lounge in the casino. Sukai is a teppanyaki/sushi restaurant which requires you to make a dinner reservation to dine in. However, there is a bar attached with an open balcony that will give you roof-top views which you won't need a reservation for. The elevators for the restaurant/bar are located right by the Valet/Front Entrance doors behind Peet's Coffee and by the Hotel Checkout area. When heading there, just tell the elevator guard that you're going to Sukai's bar and they'll tell you to hit the top floor (no room key needed). When you get to Sukai, just tell the hosts that you're going to the bar and it'll be straight down the hall past all the teppenyaki grills and through the double doors. The lounge is pretty spacious and has some cozy furniture. The bar is in the corner with its own drink menu: spirits, beer, & wine. The floor-to-ceiling windows are usually pushed aside for open airflow and you can go and stand on an awesome balcony with some great views! Would HIGHLY recommend! My last time coming, I had Phallon as my bartender. Great vibes from her especially, but the other bar staff are also awesome! (Tip yo bartenders!) Drinks are relatively cheap. On the 12 floor located at Table Mountain Casino is Sukai Teppanyaki. It has epic views from the restaurant looking outside into the Central Valley. The staff was totally prompt and amazing energy all around. We received dinner and a show with the fire and food going very exciting and thrilling at the same time. The prices are decent for a restaurant in a casino. Mostly the customers are members and get a discount on price. Overall, had an excellent time at Sukai and will be returning. Easily some of the best I've ever had. This genuinely surprised me--fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. The teppanyaki portion of the meal was enjoyable, though not flawless. My filet, ordered medium, arrived well-done, which was disappointing. The biggest letdown, however, was an unexpected $27 fee for "splitting" a plate. Despite ordering appetizers, sushi, and a full teppanyaki entrée, this charge was tacked on when I ordered myself the Teppanyaki experience and my wife was wanting sushi. We're not the type to complain, but it left a sour note on an otherwise pleasant experience. Overall, Sukai Teppanyaki delivers quality food in a stylish setting, but be mindful of pricing and whether they view you and someone with you as splitting a plate if you want to avoid that fee. read more

So Sukai and Table Mountain Casino totally hit a home run last night with us and our two dear friends who were also stunned and wowed by the awesome experience we all shared last night. Great Teppanyaki from our chef " Turtle" and fast and attentive wait service from Shelby. We met the restaurant manager Winston who was very gregarious and helpful as well. The bar staff Tara was also very sociable and fun. We got wind that there was a band we all grew up with called Air Supply playing in concert at their event center so we were able to talk to the hotel manager and get tickets to the show. One Star -- A Disappointing Experience on a Night That Mattered We booked Sukai at Table Mountain Casino for what should have been a special and memorable night -- celebrating our son's birthday and his return home from the Air Force after a year away. With eight guests and a reservation made two weeks in advance for 7:00 PM, we expected a top-tier experience from what's advertised as the most upscale teppanyaki in the area. What we got was far from it. We arrived very early, around 6:15 PM, and were served initial drinks while waiting in the lounge -- which was appreciated. But from there, service went downhill. As 7:00 came and went, no one checked in on us. At 7:15, I had to ask the hostess if we would be seated soon. Only then were we taken to a semi-private room, which ended up shared with another group. That wasn't the issue -- it was the disjointed, awkward vibe that followed. While the assistants were friendly and professional, the chef entered the room clearly irritated, and the attitude shifted immediately. My wife and the two elderly guests in our party didn't receive their meals until after the entire teppanyaki show was over -- well after the rest of us had already finished eating. Worse, our son -- the guest of honor -- didn't receive his steak at all until it became clear it had been forgotten. Only then did the chef bark at his assistants to fix the mistake. I brought the situation to staff's attention, but all we received was a small discount on a couple of bento boxes -- hardly enough to make up for the failed experience. Thankfully, we had some luck at the casino afterward, but the damage was done. For a place positioning itself as the valley's premier teppanyaki destination, this felt like anything but. Management should take a hard look at what's happening here -- or stop pretending this is a luxury experience. read more

Very disappointed on the ambiance of the staff while checking in... very very very rude. Talking to guests in condescending hostile tone. And then the waitress is poorly trained , unaware of the menu . When asked about happy hour which is advertised from 4-6 all over the entire hotel and slot machines, her response was very passive, said that it's only until 6, and forcefully brought the menu, mind you it was only 5 o clock when we asked. Then came the even more aggressive cook who complained that he only makes $20 an hour and that gambling was like donating to the casino because "you'll never win". His energy was horrible, he made multiple strange remarks and compared the establishment to McDonald's. He served my food and said "your welcome" and the manager was also not helpful. I knew I had to come here when they announced the remodel of Table Mountain. I had a girl's night out and decided to try their teppanaki & sushi bar. I quickly found out that you need to have reservations in advance and need to be checked in to even enter near the elevators. We were fortunate and was able to join their wait-list. When you walk into the restaurant it feels surreal! We did not feel like we were in Fresno and the sunset view was spectacular. Our cocktail drinks were excellent and the bartender was very attentive. I enjoyed the calamari appetizer as I'm a sucker for aioli sauce. The teppanaki was good and I can see why my friends were not impressed. I noticed our chef did not add as much butter, oil, or lots of seasoning like other places I've been too. I appreciated it and thought the food was delicious. The New York steak was still tender and the shrimp seasoned just right. However my friends thought the food needed more flavor. The lounge area at Sukai is absolutely amazing. The food options are amazing if you're big on sushi and the drinks are all top notch! Oh and we can't forget the amazing view! But, I really want to highlight the reason I go back. The bartender YOSIE is always the highlight! She is super sweet, fun and easy to talk to. We went for our anniversary which we noted in the reservations and we let the chef know, but they never acknowledged it. There was someone's birthday at the table and we all sang and he got dessert so maybe they only celebrate birthdays. The food lacked seasoning and we clearly had a newer chef so other tables were getting a "funner" experience. I'd like to give it another try, but for $160 for 2 people with. Unforgettable... in a bad way.. The hamachi sushi shot from the bar and the hot n spicy sauce was the only saving grace for this place, very good! Our chef "Kevin" was quite novice at teppanyaki style cuisine, had a bit of an attitude, and sarcastic in bad moments... he said this was his first teppanyaki job and it showed. I ordered the filet and scallops, it came with 4 total medium sized scallops and they pulled out what looked like 5 New York strips (other people at the table had also ordered steaks and they were exactly the same size and look) and I asked Kevin, if there was a filet, he said filet? I said yes and he said ohhh my bad or something of that regard, no further response after that so I told him to cancel my order as the food he was cooking was subpar already and I didn't need to wait for it to be extra cold as I wait for him to get a filet and cook that as well, so staff came over to ask me why I was cancelling my order and such they were very nice, Kevin proceeded to ask me about my living and if I had chef/food experience (clearly upset at me and trying to put me and my lack of information on the teppanyaki trade down...) it doesn't take a connoisseur to see the meal he was preparing was lacking. And come to find out the meat he brought out apparently was a "filet" (looked exactly like a NY Strip...) so it left me feeling quite embarrassed and upset.... why would he tell me it wasn't then try to make me look silly later on? I was recently at Sukai for an event and enjoyed some good food and company. The food was free, so I won't review it other than saying it was tasty and I'll be coming back. I did purchase some drinks and found them to be quite nice. An old fashioned and the view from the 12th floor made for a great combination. Looking out from the balcony toward Madera leaves a sparsely lit and stunning landscape, a seemingly endless horizon.
