I thought this would be a good place and good deal, especially if you use the $34 facial groupon. If you are closterphobic, you best skip this place. The room is just about the size of the bed, just enough room to walk on either side of the bed and the foot of the bed is pushed up against the wall. Susan?, her technique is a little odd, as I've had many facials in the past. She kept pushing/smashing my face/especially the nose area. I felt like I couldn't breath w/the humidifier on, as well. No magic fingers tapping, walking, or massaging my face. Just some wierd smashing motion. Their menu does not specify what is included with "Classic Facial", but they offer to rid you of black/white heads for an additional $15, really? During all other facials I've recieved, I was always given an arm, shoulder, hand massage, something.... here, NOTHING! Touch nothing but your face. Unfortunately I won't be coming back, the Dermilogica products made my face peel, and for the last week when I use my "Olay Total Effects" moisturizer, my skin has been burning. My friend and I had vouchers for the sea salt pedicures. We both felt like we found a gem of a day spa at Suki! Both of our pedicures lasted a month. After our initial pedicures, my friend got a massage and I got a facial. We were both really happy with our services. We felt pampered for sure. We have gone back a few times and plan to return again and again. Pictures posted so you can get a better idea of what the salon looks like. We did have a little trouble finding the spa when you come into the parking lot off Convoy. It is easy to spot from Dagget once you past Jasmine Seafood. Parking varies by time of day. During the lunch rush at Jasmine the parking lot can get full; otherwise, there is plenty of parking. I've never had to walk that far. read more

I don't know what to say about this place. We purchased a massage for $35 from buywithme, and was trying to call "Bella Vita Spa" in Mission Valley for the longest time to try to schedule an appointment. When that failed, my boyfriend then emailed the owner for me cause I was so frustrated. They told us to come to Suki Day Spa, because they own both spas I suppose. Once we did, I asked for a deep tissue massage and bf wanted a Swedish. As far as I can tell, the masseuse didn't seem very trained on massages cause I was tickled the entire time. It didn't feel like a massage, rather like she was practicing. Sad face. Oh well. I suppose it was worth the trouble, just to get that coupon off of my list. Don't think I'd return again. read more

Know that you'll be taken care of when you come to this Spa. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted and offered something to drink and she even asked if I was hungry! I have been seeing lash extensions everywhere so I decided to try them. I have heard from friends that Suki is the best place to get them because they take care in putting them on. The experience was relaxing and I even fell asleep a few times, ha ha. I woke up and I had beautiful lashes on :-) Now I feel like I wear less makeup and still look done-up. On entering, we were offered a mint water and though the waiting area was small, it was quaint, clean and neat. I went to Suki Day Spa to get my B12 shots. A Japanese lady who helped me was extremely kind and wonderful. She sent me over around the corner to an eye clinic (located right next to the Dumpling Inn) to see Dr. Chen to get my B12 shots. Although this set up seems odd and a bit weird to have an eye dr giving me the shots, I'd have to say. The whole process was quick. Dr. Chen was very nice and took the time to explained to me the difference between getting the shots on my arm versus on my butt cheek. Please don't get the Shellac in french.. it starts coming off right away.. they had to redo it for me once but when they finished the second time I could see the nail polish flaking off my nails so we just soaked them off and they gave me a refund.. The service is wonderful but I don't think they know how to do Shellac in french.. Why would you clean up my line with acetone when acetone is what you soak your nails in to remove the shellac? I did some research myself and the Shellac website says to use alcohol to clean up the line.. read more

Like many other reviewers, I visited this spa with a coupon (livingsocial). I was very pleased with the courteous service I received when I called to make the appointment. I don't remember the name, but the person who helped me was very friendly and helpful. The facial was great - my skin looked great the next day. Dermatologica products. Great facial and scalp massage. The massage was pretty good. I asked for light pressure, which is what I got. The masseuse spent a LONG time on my back, which was nice. However, I am used to full body massages, and my arms were never massaged. She addressed my back, the backs of my legs, my feet, and my neck. Not too shabby, but less than I was expecting. Other reviewers have commented that the bed is not heated. This was my experience also. However, the esthetician inquired multiple times about my comfort. The Suki Day Spa on Convoy is a comfy little place tucked in behind Jasmine's. I went in for an early morning manicure while the spa was nice and quiet. One of the Sue's there was super friendly. If everyone who works for Suki Day Spa is as nice as she is then all of their services must be great.She made sure to do my nails the way I wanted as well as offering advice on maintaining the manicure and keeping my nails strong. The Convoy location isn't very big. Downstairs there is space for a a manicure table and a few pedicure chairs. Their nail polishes are OPI as well as some shellac polishes. Their OPI selection has a lot of reds/pinks, metallics, deep burgundies, and sparkly/glitter polishes. Everything was clean and sterile. Due to the size of the spa I wouldn't recommend being a walk-in. Call ahead or use the form on their website. They are really on top of scheduling and will call you about cancellations if you just have to get in asap. read more

I have to go with the bandwagon on this one, and give it 2 stars. There is a lot of room for improvement, and it's not a terrible place, but it truely is a "Meh. I've experienced better." I got a Groupon here for their classic facial. Unfortunately, even though the full price of the service is $69, it does not include extractions. The website has NO descriptions of the services, so I didn't know this going in. I had to pay an additional $15 for extractions. I'm getting a facial, yes, of course I want the extractions. I felt a little ripped off in that sense, as neither the Groupon nor their website had that information available. I've had similar treatments for less that included extractions. Further more, the rooms are very simple. And they smell strongly of seafood, care of the large seafood restaurant that they share a parking lot with... not exactly the spa feeling I was going for. The beds were simply cots... nothing special at all (above mentioned similar treatment location had heated beds & memory foam!). My technician didn't speak much. I still don't know what products she used. She didn't tell me throughout, or provide a product sheet at the end. She did try to sell me a Dermotologica toner, but that's it. The products seemed nice, but I don't even know what brand or anything that was used. I told the technologist that I was having issues with breakouts along my jaw line, but apparently that is too low for the "classic facial", since she didn't apply any products or extractions to my jaw line / upper neck area. I do feel that the rest of the service was satisfactory. My skin felt looked and great for a few days. After that my forehead broke out (something that never happens), but it could be from something totally unrelated. The rest of the visit was very nice. I was offered complimentary tea, and they started (and ended) my service right on time. Even though I had the classic facial (60 minutes), and paid the extra $15 for extractions, my facial still lasted only exactly 60 minutes. Bought a voucher for an 80 minute pedicure here. I probably wouldn't have done it if I knew it was more or less a 2 at a time place and in the Korea of San Diego (had to park 10 minutes away in wedge flip flops due to the parking lot being packed). My pedicure lasted 80 minutes or maybe a bit more which was a surprise because these places usually are more like 65 minutes and a "pick out your color time" and a "drying time" service. The nail polish selection here has OPI polishes, but not a huge collection. The scrubs that they used were great and I enjoyed my leg massage. I was uncomfortable though with the foot massages because it wasn't the relaxing kind that us white folk like to have done. I was also in painnnnnnnn when the excess skin was removed, but didn't say it because I know I need that shit removed. For $20 (or whatever I paid) it was good deal. I bought 1 more which I may use if I come back to San Diego for something, or if any of you want it I will resell it to you at the price I paid. read more

Worst facial I have had!!! Two women worked on me. One was a new hire and both girls were walking in and out of my room the whole time because my door was left open!!!! I heard the phone ring several times and one of the girls had the balls to answered the phone just outside my room! I heard walking up the stairs and out the door. Finally i had to ASK to shut my door! I was shorted on time. It was supposed to a 1 HOUR facial, I was only given 44 MINUTES. I confronted the girl and she tried to justify that they need to clean the room for the next client, but i was the only one there! The facial itself was mediocre at best with fast chop hand gestures and poor extractions. The girl kept walking into another room to get products to put on my face, they obviously didn't prep the room for me. The ambiance was NOT relaxing or spa like at all!! Never again will i set foot in Suki (Not a Day Spa)!!! read more

So I won a $50 gift cert to Suki. Over a week ago I made an on-line appointment for a pedicure. They confirmed and I said there wasn't a spot to indicate I wanted Paraffin wax. She said, no problem. I got there, and they started the pedicure. Then she said something I didn't understand, so I clarified that it was Paraffin pedi. She made a funny face, like oh no! Went in the back to turn it on, came back and said there wasn't enough wax. Really, I made the appt over a week ago?!?! So you didn't check earlier in the day when you looked at all your appointments? So a regular massage pedicure is $39. Paraffin wax massage is $49. She had offered to do extra massage since they didn't have wax, or I could wait 15 minutes for someone to drop the wax off. I said, I'll just add a manicure, and pay the overage. So we proceeded on with the pedicure. A man shows up with the wax, so we switch back to wax. 30 minutes later, she said it is still hard as a block. I said, I really can't keep waiting, my appointment was at 6, and it was 7:15. So I asked if I could just include her tip since I wasn't getting the full $50 worth. She called the owner who said no. We aren't making any money on this so, no. No, sorry. Nothing. Just no. I said that's fine, gave the gal a $10 tip since I felt sorry for her (really she should have checked earlier)!! I booked a pedicure through Entertainment Daily for a "spa" experience. It was definitely worth the $19.00 I paid for it... (plus a big tip because I tipped on the full value), but there is no way this was worth the $77.00 they advertised! The "spa" consisted of a plain room with a chair and a manicure table. There were 4 hot rocks in a bowl to soak my feet and they said they put extra exfolients on and did a refloxology massage. .. but it felt like any other. I'm still looking for the glass of wine listed and I didn't want the french manicure which I guess is $8.00 extra. There are 6 nail salons on every block in the city....so I'm not sure how they get away with charging this. I guess they could have said it was worth $200.00 for what they do... in that case, it's really a bargain. Maybe I missed something here........ read more

In response to Suki Day Spa response, I did pay what I said I paid and even if they insist they charge over $350, it's still outrageous for two weeks of lashes (if that long!) I never expected anything 'free'. The staff was not trained in sales of the products and having sales experience I actually gave them selling strategies to help them. Being a polite and polished person, I would never argue over a charge - if that's what they wanted to charge me, then that's what I paid them. The shock was I wasn't expecting a charge of over $350 when I'm getting my lashes done beautifully for $100 first time and $50 touchup every two or even three weeks. As far as hugging and thanking the staff and telling them they did a good job is concerned, as they claim, yes I did that. I'm Italian and we hug and kiss a lot. They did do a good job but not for the price I paid. I wasn't about to argue with anyone. My mistake was not clarifying what they would charge me - I had no idea so I 'acted friendly and warm and left on a good note. I'm writing this review as a 'buyer beware' - if you're getting your lashes done here, ask what they intend to charge you.Perhaps you can afford to go there. I don't choose to spend that kind of money for eyelashes. As far as missing appointments, I called and what does that have to do with the prices they charge. When people are wrong, they get defensive and their reply to my review was filled with defensive 'come-backs'. read more

I finally came in after seeing this place on yelp. I walked in just to look around and a sweet girl came out in uniform and she asked if I needed any help. As I was just about to ask her something, a lady that was already helping customers yelled at her (not in english, so I couldnt understand) and then the girl just ran upstairs. Then the lady looked at me and very rudely asked "Do you need anything?!" in front of basically everyone in the room and they all looked at me. I felt so awkward and just answered no and got out of there. The funny this is, she wasn't even in uniform like the original girl, so I'm guessing it was the manager. Horrible vibe! I started going to Suki Day spa about a year ago due to purchasing a Groupon. I am a regular customer of this spa now and am surprised to read so many bad recent reviews for this spa. The time I spend getting my salt scrub pedicure are the 80 minutes or so I look forward to all month. The staff is friendly and the pedicure is a wonderful experience. I am always offered a drink of some sort - coffee, tea, water. I leave with beautiful toenails and leave a generous tip for the gals who always do a great job and allow me to relax for a bit. I have gotten a groupon deal for a facial twice now, both times I have been to the Kearney Mesa location and have been very pleased with my facial. They use the Dermalogica line which my skin apparently loves. I got a wonderful face and shoulder massage both times which is the highlight of the facial. I waited 40 minutes to be seen for my second time, I have no idea why. The girls are a little shy and do not speak the best English, but they try to keep you comfortable. Very nice, relaxing decor. I'm the kind of guy who is not afraid to admit he likes to be pampered on occasion . Recently, on a trip to San Diego, I decided to get a gentleman's facial and a pedicure. This place got good reviews and was close to our hotel. We booked appointments for the next day (I was actually a little surprised they were able to fit us in). When i got there, truthfully, I was a little nervous. At 11 am, no customers. It is a clean shop, but not fancy at all. We were cheerfully greeted and taken upstairs to the treatment room. In summary: BEST. FACIAL. EVER. Now, I've had facials before. Even at high-end spas, and this place beat them hands down (talking about you, Nordstrom...and Aveda). So relaxing, I fell asleep. Very thorough, with extractions...relaxing...amazing. And for $109...for an hour. 100% recommend. I also had a pedicure which was a good value and great. Around $50, I think, and she did a nice job. Yeah, we were the only customers for the whole 2+ hours we were there, but the experience was wonderful and I'd go back in a minute. The staff was very professional and extremely friendly. read more

A friend of mine -- actually all the women in their family, regular spa goers--recommended Suki spa. I found that they did a very thorough job and the aesthetician provided me with a complexion analysis whilst performing the facial. The ambiance is simple and comfortable. The resort spa look that so many storefront spas try to mimic can get so tiring. When I go in, I'm thinking about my skin and how knowledgeable the staff is. So Suki is not a fluff and pamper spa, it's straightforward quality. I also picked up some vitamin E drops that are helping with exfoliation and I have received numerous compliments on my complexion. I have been a long time customer of Suki Day Spa the downtown location. I just had several treatments done at the location on Convoy, it is a lot easier to access than the downtown location. The are several little shops and markets in the same area and i see a few comments regarding that but honestly that did not deter me one bit. I mean isnt that the same in other large cities where you will have random shops next to a high end shop, restaurant, salon, spa or hotel? Being that i was going there for a treatment i could care less whT was going on around OUTSIDE after all Im there to enjoy the treatmentsnprovided INSIDE the spa. I have always had the best facials, pedicures and manicures at Suki's! The long pedicure with hot stones, orange peels and aromatherapy oils are fantastic i enjoy the fact that your not rushed and processed as with other nails salons. The facials are always wondeful ans the estiticians always use excellent quality products like dermologica oe spamedic. I also like that they allow you to relax while your getting your facial and not try to push products rather they allow you to enjoy our treatment. I have had several tpes of waxing and I love that they use natural aloe to sooth after. For the first time i tried the Botox and it was very quick and not painful at all, i honestly thought it was going to hurt but didnt at all. Suki's provides a lot of facial products which is great I finally purchuased a set of Dermalogica and cant wait to start using it! Suki's has also done wonders on my nephews skin. He has had pretty bad acne and breakouts and suki's facials has practically cured his face he only goes to suki when he has an important event or when he notices breakouts starting. I had a totally different experience than some of the other reviewers. The technician was very caring and knowledgeable. The way she treated me was extremely respectful and gentle. I asked the price of the facial and peel before I scheduled it. I felt like it was more of an experience than just a facial. I just had a fabulous sea salt pedicure with Susan at Suki Day Spa at their Convoy location. It was extremely easy for me to call for a same-day appointment and got in within an hour and a half of when I called! The place is quaint and very private. I was the only customer in the place which made the experience very relaxing and enjoyable. The chairs are so comfy! Susan did a beautiful job on my toes, and more than took her time. My pedicure lasted just over an hour, which is much longer than the typical mani/pedi place! I didn't feel rushed at all. I will most definitely be back! read more

I purchased a Massage and Deluxe Facial Combined through Living Social.com and went to the Convoy St location of Suki Day Spa. I was really excited about my spa day. 2 hours of total self indulgence! But it wasn't all I had hoped. When I pulled up I was a little nervous. I went in and checked in. I was led upstairs where there was about 3 rooms and a bathroom. The massage/facial therapist who did my massage/facial was very, very nice. And the massage and facial were very good. But the atmosphere was the worst I've ever experienced. The room was cold and the bed wasn't heated. The whole time I could hear cars outside and very noisy construction equipment. The music wasn't even turned up loud enough to drown out some of the noise. I feel so bad writing this review but I wanted to be honest. Because my massage/facial therapist was so nice and she did a good job, I'm going to give 3 stars. Had it been in a better location, I would easily given at least one more. read more

I have been going to Suki's spa downtown for years now but recently visited the one off of convoy and i love it! The staff is amazing, the products and service is top notch and i love how convenient it is then coming downtown. I actually hired about 8 of Suki's staff to come and do by pre wedding spa party and let me tell you, it was AMAZING!!! They treated us like we were in a 5 star luxury spa and all my ladies had so much fun getting pampered! This was my second visit to Suki Day Spa using an online coupon. For the price, definitely a bargain. I can't imagine I would pay full price for the services though. It is an unassuming little place but nicely done and comfortable. But what's really sold me is the customer service. I had the sea salt pedicure and added on a manicure. I'm used to spa chairs with whirlpool foot baths....love that, but this is just a comfortable chair and pillow and foot soak in a bowl. But....their attention to your comfort is outstanding. Both of the women who did my mani and pedi were so attentive. It was all about me, the way it should be. How many times do the service providers talk to each other and not notice the pain on your face as they are rubbing too long in one place or poking your cuticles??!! I found this spa by accident. After eating dinner at a nearby restaurant I saw the sidewalk sign and was impressed by the external appearance. A few days later I went for a massage. Susan was my masseuse. She was outstanding. Cute, petite but powerful. I received one of the best massages I have ever had. The staff and management are friendly, courteous and professional.
