We had just gotten off the plane and headed to South Boston when we stopped in here for a quick lunch. You walk in, place your order, and then take your food outside to enjoy. They have several picnic tables, and the views are amazing! They're known for their Clam Strips, so I ordered a regular basket. There was more than enough for one person--probably enough to share, and they were soooo good! I also tried their Maine-style Lobster Roll. Normally, I'm not a fan of the cold lobster roll with mayo, but I wanted to give theirs a try. I'm glad I did! They use just a light amount of mayo, which lets the fresh lobster shine. It was actually really good. We also grabbed a hot dog, and it was excellent too. I especially loved the bun, it was soft, fresh, and made the hot dog even better. If you're heading to Castle Island for a walk or hike, this is the perfect place to reward yourself afterward with a great meal and a beautiful waterfront view. I did make one rookie mistake... I didn't save room for dessert! I've heard their soft-serve ice cream is fantastic, so that'll be at the top of my list next time. I'll definitely be back! read more

It's officially "summer" in Boston (yes it's March) because Sullivan's is open for the season and we're experiencing those fake spring days that are 60° in the middle of March and the whole world is out and about. We love to see it. Even with a long line, me and my 2 friends all got to the registers quick, and one of my friends got a vanilla shake, another got a soft serve, and I got a raspberry lime rickey and it all came out within 5 minutes. I had gotten a raspberry lime Rickey and they have those ready to go so I had 0 wait, and my friend got a soft serve ice cream which they also made for her immediately, so no wait. Waiting on commuter train at North Station on a Friday. Wandered over to food court and was pleasantly surprised to see this establishment. Definitely is a worthy successor to the Hanover and S. Boston locations. Two personable young ladies, a Ms. Xianma (sp)? and Ms. Geraldine expertly prepared my Fish and Chips order. They presented me with a piping hot, decent sized perfectly and minimally breaded, filet of haddock along with golden fried crinkle fries. I think I'll have to stop through whenever I'm in N. I always pay a little extra for the bigger bellies on the clams. They are so sweet. They're not gritty with a lot of sand, but very sweet the scallops they to die for I like the onion rings of french fries and the assortment of soda Also, my wife loves going there. read more

Very convenient location in the Hub Hall but that's about it. Got the fish and chips and it was extremely average. The fish itself was pretty bland. Think it's a fine place to stop if you need a bite before a game or something, but would definitely not go out of my way to go here. read more

Stopped in to the new marketplace to check out. I am familiar with Sullivans from location at Castle Island south Boston. This place prices seem higher than South Boston. I ordered a hot dog with mustard, onions... was 4.01 with tax Wow... dog was puny in size ... used to be bigger at other location ... very tiny like oversized cocktail Frank.. Frank brand I think they changed to lower grade too... no snap but a soggy dog... not impressed... I should have had a top notch Cussers roast beef next door over... Perfect location and great looking menu but let down by the seafood. I had possibly the worst lobster roll I've ever had -- clearly some grey meat that was old. Very fishy smelling. I could only eat one bite and not stomach the rest. It was one of the first ones of the day and likely either a carry over from the previous day(s) or they got a bad shipment. Yuck. The fried whole belly clams basket was generous portion and breading was fine but had a lot of grit and gunk in the clams. It didn't stop me from eating them but was certainly disappointing. The good service and non-seafood saves the review from being one star. The cheeseburgers were decent greasy beach burgers. Coleslaw was fine. Prices were reasonable for size of food -- but I'd rather pay $5-$10 more bucks than the $16 for the lobster roll if it's assure a better product. I would have reported the lobster roll to management but at that point it soured my stomach and didn't make me want to eat a new one let alone anything else. Such a dive bar around the North Station/West End area. Good music and also decent beer list for what's on tap but the 2 nights I went, they blew quite a few kegs and were out of many local beers. Good spot though to watch any of the local sports games and enjoy a pint or 2. read more

Went to check out the new Hub Hall over the weekend. The place is nice, connected to North Station. We ordered the lobster rolland wasn't a fan, very bland. While I should have known better than to order a lobster roll in a place like this I saw some positive reviews so figured I'd give it a shot. Huge mistake. The prices are outrageous all things considered. I know market price for lobster right now is very high but it seems this place is charging more than what is fair considering what you get. $23 gets you a lobster roll the size of a ballpark hotdog. The majority of the roll is bread. The lobster itself seemed like it was shredded/processed vs being the iconic succulent chunks. It is also a cold roll which wasn't clear on the menu. The roll was flavorless. Absolutely zero flavor to the mayo/sauce? On the lobster. No salt. Very disappointing. So much so that I didn't even take a food pic. It's an additional $6 for an order of fries. And another $3 for a drink. The fries were hot/fresh but they're just typical/frozen crinkle cut fries. So for a total of $35 you too can leave disappointed and kind of hungry still. For $38 you can go to Legal Seafood and get a half pound lobster roll topped with drawn butter and served with cole slaw, a roll, and a generous portion of amazinggg fries. I had an amazing experience ordering from Sullivan's. The online ordering couldn't have been easier and although there was a designated waiting area for online orders outside, staff was patrolling the whole outside area to ensure everyone was taken care of. Our order was hand delivered to us within 10 min. The clam strips were the best I've ever had. I'm usually more of a whole clam belly person, but decided to give the strips a try first. The small was a generous portion, with the clamshell container filled tight. The fry was different than most of the other places around - a little thicker batter maybe? And it had a slight sprinkle of seasoning, which just took it over the edge. My kids abandoned their ice creams and gobbled up what was supposed to be a special treat for myself. It was a great end to a fun afternoon circling the sugar bowl. I can't wait to return for more goodness. read more

Went to Castle Island for the first time today! I had read they had awesome clams so I was GREATLY disappointed! They were thickly battered with very small clams inside with NO FLAVOR! I have been going to Sully's on and off since I was a kid, so about 40 years. I don't know what's going on, but the quality of the food, the prep and the service is just not good. I see that they are desperate for help because no one seems to want to work anymore, but I don't think it's all due to short staffing. I'm not sure who oversees it, is it still "family" run? I know it's not a chain restaurant so maybe the owner has another gig It's sort of hit or miss also. Sometimes food is great and looks like it has some thought put into it; other times it looks like it was just hurled into a box . I haven't tried all menu items so perhaps my choices are just the unlucky ones, but from what i have tried.... the salad is literally slabs of torn lettuce, tasteless tomatoes and stale croutons. The fries are flavorless and not as crisp as they used to be. Hamburger is low grade quality and flavorless. Coffee is extremely weak. I go there out of loyalty and because it's the only easily accessible place for a quick meal if you are visiting castle island.. It's definitely not a clean looking place, but I haven't seen bugs or rodents. When being served, it can be a little unfriendly or just lukewarm interactions. Whatever happened to "hi, how can I help" you etc... All you hear is "next!" Finally, the prices are over the top for fast food. I don't know, but somehow they still draw a big crowd I think the only way they survive is the location. I was looking forward to their fish and chips, but sadly it was not an edible dish. The breading on the fish was overcooked, and the fish was very oily and slimy not the flaky texture you would expect from the usual fish and chips dish. The fries were super oily as well and were unseasoned, so no points there. After three bites, I had to throw the dish away. On a positive note, Mike's Pastry is just a couple of stalls away with no line, so I had 4 bites of their tiramisu before escaping the place. The reasonable price was the most surprising for the food quality and location at a semi-touristy destination. The fish sandwich is crispy, light and fresh. The chocolate shake was thick, chocolatey and of homemade texture. The grilled cheese was made fresh and plenty-cheesy. I love Sullivans\'s at Castle Island - one of my favorite laces to get a burger, but the one in North Station is disgusting $17.82 for a hot dog - because they do not make burgers, French fries and a vanilla milkshake. There aren't too many ways to damage a hot dog - but I am sure they are trying to create a way; the fries were under cooked, and the milkshake was two scoops of vanilla ice cream in a cup. Half of the fries and the shake ended up in the trash. I will never again waste my time or money there. Sullivan's Castle Island at North Station does not even deserve one star.
