unbelievable, most horrendous experience I have ever at a restaurant. I have been coming to place for years now with usually a good experience with both Food and Service except today. Walked into the restaurant Friday 18th of July at 9:32 PM exactly there was nobody at the counter. A lady walked in at 9:34 PM to take my order. She started interesting arguing that we do a takeout order even though the restaurant closes at 10 PM. I had called in the restaurant before walking into the restaurant as well to confirm that they closed at 10 PM. She was incredibly rude kept arguing for 10 minutes, wasting my time and her and insisting that they only wanted to give away I requested to speak to a manager and or the owner and ask her if this is something that's blessed from the management to do this to the customers. She had no response but said she was not gonna give us food other than take away. As we sat down to eat food, we noticed that multiple multiple servers started making a lot of noise in the restaurant and started cleaning while there were people still sitting, making sure that nobody was able to eat at peace. I was very surprised to see that there was no management present to see how harass how harassing the attitude of the servers was towards the customers this is an incredibly overwhelming and bad experience. I want to bring it to lie to the management of Sultan kebab. I'd like someone to reach out to me and let me know why this is permitted. There are so many seating options, spacious indoor and outdoor patio with heat lamps and blankets for colder evenings. Order with the cashier and find a place to sit with your #. The service was friendly, attentive, and quick. Self-service water station. When the food arrived, it tasted as good as it looked! 10's across the board! Everything was so delicious and there was not a long wait despite how busy it was. When you arrive they have a menu that you can choose from with tons of selections. There's even options for the vegetarians and pescatarians! Once you place your order you take your number and pick a seat. The decor and vibe is honestly the reason I came here. We loved the ambient lighting with the cute umbrellas and there's even a cute wall off to the side to snap acute selfie! The food did not disappoint. The meat was very well seasoned and the sauce that came with our meal added another touch of flavor to our rice and salad. Our pita wraps did come out a little later than our food but honestly we were so busy with our food that we didn't notice. The serving is more than enough as I was struggling to finish my plate and this is without eating the feta fries my husband ordered. Actually I'm lying I tried 1 or 2 and had to restrain myself because I knew i would get way too full before my meal arrived. They have a water station in the back so don't be like us and wait around thinking someone is gonna bring water lol. Ahhh this place seemed so promising on Yelp but was very underwhelming. We were supposed to go to the 626 Night Market but the lines and crowd were so crazy, we decided to ditch the event and grab something to eat. Since we needed a veggie option, we decided to head here to eat. The Sultan serves up slow service with unseasoned, dry food! The biggest issue- The food took a LONG time. They did warn us it would be a 45 minute wait for food. This is a fast casual place so I thought it was unusual for the food to take so long. With that amount of time, I was expecting greatness but the food was lackluster. The Adana Kebab and Chicken Shwarma were both dry. I know there is a drought in California but geez, not in my food. The salad dressing had no flavor. It looked like thousand island but didn't taste like it. It was very bland. The hummus and bread were mediocre but I've had better elsewhere. The highlight were the baklava and homemade rice pudding. Not really much to mess up on there. Although I thought $4.99 was expensive for both desserts. Delicious Mediterranean food with rich deep flavors and a huge selection of dishes. You wait in line to order at the counter and self seat. There's plenty of indoor seating, and the patio outdoors has a lot of heaters. The lamb and beef kebab had a ton of rich bbq flavors, while the shawarma salad was nice for a healthier and lighter option with tender juicy meat and a variety of pickled veggies. The hummus also had a lot of flavor, and the pita was perfect. Even the white rice was somehow super delicious! There's also a huge dessert counter with a ton of middle eastern desserts and pastries. The grilled veggies on top that were I guess more as garnish, were also really good. The food has been very inconsistent. Long time customer, I had 19 guests for dinner and as soon as we arrived which was at 4pm so there was no one in the restaurant at the time. I asked one of the employees which was the manger to set up a table for us and he rudely said you can have two separate tables. I kindly ask him if we can put the tables together as he replied no this is a restaurant and we can't put tables together. My daughter also politely asked and he basically said shut up, this is it. I'm called to eat here once a week! A nice balance to the food in terms of your protein veggie and carb! They plate it so inviting. You feel the love in which it's prepared. They're also open late! 1/14/23 - Unfortunately, this was not the place for me although they had two of my favorites steak & prawns or large shrimp. Everything was cooked to perfection. They give you plenty onions, tomatoes, and peppers. Also, mountains of salad but no salad dressings. My kebab lunch was $24.30. They give you a number when you pay for your food. My number was 41, but it was the wrong meal. I didn't make a big fuss about it!!! I knew my lunch would be coming soon. My friends were complaining because I didn't eat very much of my lunch. So used to eating one meal a day, but later on last night I felt hungry and had to get up and cook. In between lunch & going home I made a quick shopping stop and I also got an caramel iced coffee. Wow, wow, wow. This is my third time here at this restaurant and this was by far the best experience ever. We came during Ramadan and they gave us spectacular service. The chef/owner Mahmut and his entire staff treated us with such respect. My family had the combo of chicken and beef kebobs and the chicken shwarma and the lamb kebobs. The meat was very tender and soo delicious. Sultans kebab has some of the best Mediterranean food in the area. Over the years they have expand the business and offer Covid friendly outdoor dining. Everything is very clean and they offer hand sanitizer. They have wonderful menu options. Everything is delicious. My friend always gets the chicken Shawarma plate. I have enjoyed their falafel plates, the combination beef and chicken kebabs and the chicken Shawarma salad. They can be very popular. There is often a line at lunch. I haven't been here for lunch for at least 6-7 years. Back then, it was much more of a shed than a restaurant, but the food was just as delicious. It looks like the place has gotten a face lift. I had the combo shawarma and it was just as I remembered. Awesome and delicious. The lamb has just enough fat on it to be juicy and bite to it and the chicken was flavorful and tender. The buttered rice was a bed of fluffy goodness. I wish I had more but my daughter ate all of hers and took mine . The only thing that was a slight downside, my daughter had order the chicken wings and those were a little on the undercooked side. It was right about there, another minute on the grill, it would have been perfect. Still edible, just a hair undercooked. However, for the price I would have thought that they would have two skewers instead of just one The chicken shawarma was bland ( again). So I guess this is a dish they don't make very well and I wouldn't order again. The hot sauce and the house sauce they provided made it edible for me. Turkish delight was extremely sweet for my taste. The only con I would say apart from the bland chicken is the price point. They are on the higher end for a kebab place. We we're returning from a fair from Alameda fairgrounds and fortunately noticed the Sultan's Kebab right before entering the highway. You can call it love at first sight. It catches you at the entrance, very tasteful decoration takes you from Bay Area to Turkey. I am more impressed when get to the counter. They have a great variety of Turkish kebabs and appetizers and don't forget the deserts. We ordered Adana, Beyti, Salmon wrap and chicken Adana. All of them were way beyond our expectations. I felt so lucky to find this gem. I decided to eat at the outdoor dining area in front of the restaurant because I saw they cleaned & sanitized the furnitures pretty well after each customer. The shawarma was good. The meat was flavorful but some of them was overcooked hence a bit tough. The hummus was really good! The salad was meh - nothing special. Yeah, I finally came to try Sultan's Kebab after my boy plumbst had been hyping it up to me for a while. We came here together during our road trip, and I'll say that it mostly lives up to the hype. Chicken Shawarma: fantastic. Very well seasoned and super tasty. Lamb Shawarma: average. Very strong flavors, a little bit gamey. Rice: game changer. Contender for the best rice I've ever had. Overall, Sultan's is a super solid spot for Mediterranean food. Prices were ok and service was great. Nice and friendly and the food came out quick. I will say that I still like Persian cuisine slightly more, but it does clear places like Achilles, Nick the Greek, etc. Looking back, I highly recommend Sultan's Kebab if you're in the area, if anything for their super official rice. I love Sultan's!! I love the remodel they've done (it's been quite some time since I've been there!). The place was very active on a Sunday afternoon and they had beautiful outdoor seating. I was just placing a takeout order but was witnessing the action. The service was friendly and efficient. Their food is to die for! The RICE?!? Ugh, I love. Something as simple as their rice gets my tastebuds excited! I order the chicken shawarma plate only because I wanted the rice. I wanted a wrap, but I wanted the rice more haha! The only thing is I tried the fries from my sister and their fries are so plain and meh. I wouldn't order their fries! They're a little on the higher end for price, but their food is delicious. This place used to be my favorite Mediterranean pre-Covid, but quality has drastically gone downhill. My go to is the combo shawarma (chicken & lamb) but the quality is hit or miss, occasionally get many charred/burnt pieces, sometimes salted way too heavily. Service is alright but since it's family owned, some workers have attitude and it feels like you are doing them a favor by patronizing their business. Occasionally I've walked in to be ignored for 5+ minutes because workers are socializing. Overall still a solid 3/5. Atmosphere/Location- huge inside seating available. Located in huge plaza with lots of parking, and not too many other restaurants. Food- used to be better pre-covid, but nowadays is hit or miss. 1 week tastes great, next week way too salty, and following bland. Very tasty and super tender. The pieces were a little pathetic though! Even the salad it came with was excellent. I ate the entire thing (I never finish salads that come with meals). Wow! They've really done up the place! I remember back in the day, it looked more like a place for grab and go, and although they did have seating inside, it didn't look that nice. We stopped by on a drizzly Sunday evening for dinner with friends. Parking was easy. We went in and checked out the menu posted on the wall above the cashier. The group ordered chicken shawarma salads $16.99, lamb/beef shawarma salad $16.99, chicken shish kebab plate $17.99, chicken adana plate $17.99, french fries $6.50, and lentil soup $5.99. After paying for the food and leaving a tip, our cashier, Maryuri R., provided a number for our table. We found a place to sit, grabbed some self-serve water, and chatted while we waited for our food. First came the french fries, then the soup, then the salads, and lastly the plates. Not a big fan of the actual greens in the salad/plate, and the rice on the plates was quite salty greasy, but the meats were cooked to perfection. The fries came with some sort of pinkish sauce, and there was hot sauce on the table. No ketchup though. There is very little service to speak of. The employees take your order and bring your food out, but that's it. The cashier that takes your order for the entrees can also collect your payment for the candies and cakes, even though there is a separate payment station on the dessert side. The women's restroom was relatively clean. The sink counters were very wet, and the bathroom smelled like sewage backing up, but the toilets and sinks were in working order, and that's what really matters. No one used the men's restroom, so therefore cannot offer any comments. read more
