This a very clean, fast service and friendly place. The food is so good with large portions and reasonable prices!! My family had the combo of chicken and beef kebobs and the chicken shwarma and the lamb kebobs. The meat was very tender and soo delicious. I tried the lamb shank which was falling off the bone, so tender with rice and vegatable. I love when when they bring the pita bread WARM! I came from fremont to eat here. This place used to be my favorite Mediterranean pre-Covid, but quality has drastically gone downhill. My go to is the combo shawarma (chicken & lamb) but the quality is hit or miss, occasionally get many charred/burnt pieces, sometimes salted way too heavily. Service is alright but since it's family owned, some workers have attitude and it feels like you are doing them a favor by patronizing their business. Occasionally I've walked in to be ignored for 5+ minutes because workers are socializing. Overall still a solid 3/5. Atmosphere/Location- huge inside seating available. Located in huge plaza with lots of parking, and not too many other restaurants. Food- used to be better pre-covid, but nowadays is hit or miss. 1 week tastes great, next week way too salty, and following bland. After a hike in Pleasanton Ridge, we headed to Sultan's Kebab for lunch, which was located a mile from the trailhead and had very good reviews on Yelp. It's located in Bernal Plaza shopping center on Koll Center Pkwy and parking is plentiful. The restaurant is large, spacious and clean with indoor and outdoor dining. The menu is extensive with 27 menu items consisting of kebabs, shawarmas, koftes, adanas, casseroles, salads, wraps, falafel, appetizers and baklavas for dessert. You order at the counter, park yourself at a table and the food is brought to you when ready. I ordered the lamb kebabs. The plate came with four skewers of lamb, seasoned fluffy rice, salad in oil and vinegar, a small cup of humus and pita. The food was very tasty and the price was reasonable for the amount of food they gave. My friends had the beef kebabs, combo kebabs and wraps. Wow! They've really done up the place! I remember back in the day, it looked more like a place for grab and go, and although they did have seating inside, it didn't look that nice. We stopped by on a drizzly Sunday evening for dinner with friends. Parking was easy. We went in and checked out the menu posted on the wall above the cashier. The group ordered chicken shawarma salads $16.99, lamb/beef shawarma salad $16.99, chicken shish kebab plate $17.99, chicken adana plate $17.99, french fries $6.50, and lentil soup $5.99. After paying for the food and leaving a tip, our cashier, Maryuri R., provided a number for our table. We found a place to sit, grabbed some self-serve water, and chatted while we waited for our food. First came the french fries, then the soup, then the salads, and lastly the plates. Not a big fan of the actual greens in the salad/plate, and the rice on the plates was quite salty greasy, but the meats were cooked to perfection. The fries came with some sort of pinkish sauce, and there was hot sauce on the table. No ketchup though. There is very little service to speak of. The employees take your order and bring your food out, but that's it. The cashier that takes your order for the entrees can also collect your payment for the candies and cakes, even though there is a separate payment station on the dessert side. The women's restroom was relatively clean. The sink counters were very wet, and the bathroom smelled like sewage backing up, but the toilets and sinks were in working order, and that's what really matters. Taking over the adjacent storefront, Sultan's Kebab has expanded to at least double the original space, maybe triple with outdoor dining. Atmosphere is more inviting. The harsh white fluorescent lights are gone. Order and pay at the counter. Take a number and seat yourself at a table. The servers will find you with that number so display it prominently on the table centerpiece/condiment stand. Food has also improved. Presentation is more appealing. Ordered the lamb and chicken combo platter with rice, salad, and a little ramekin of hummus. Lamb was not gamey or greasy and both meats were tender, slightly charred and well seasoned. However, the salad was overdressed and I wish they gave a bigger portion of rice. I seem to remember this combo plate coming with pita bread but none was included on this visit. No complaints about the portion of either meat, very generous. Food came out quickly but tables were slow to be cleaned. Also, while servers were quick on their feet, they didn't seem to anticipate patron requests. Saw them run back several times for utensils, napkins, and condiments. They did this repeatedly for table after table. They were hustling but a little forethought may have saved them some steps. read more

Covid-19 update: we got delivery directly from them. We called in the order, which was easy. They were offering free baklava. Our usual order of a mixed veggie plate, chicken shawarma, two sides of roasted veggies, lamb casserole, a side of babaganoush. We added a side of hummus and a chicken casserole. Everything was nicely packaged and came hot. Portion sizes were generous. The best was the hummus (so creamy and delicious), the lamb casserole (full of flavor), chicken shawarma (always moist and tasty), and the babaganoush (smoky and creamy). The veggie platter didn't have tabbouleh for some reason, but otherwise it's the same. We love the grilled veggies. They were very generous with the pita this time! The Chicken casserole was okay, had grilled white meat, a bit "healthier" than the other dishes. Love them and would highly recommend ordering take out from this place! read more

My go to is the combo plate and I always leave with a take out box because they give a decent portion. I knocked off a star because of the annoying flies that are always there. I noticed the hummus is sour when you tell them you don't want the salad and want more hummus so I wouldn't recommend that as a substitute. read more

We are 10-year patrons of this Pleasanton restaurant and in that time frame never met a more idiotic situation and a more obstinate manager ("Murat" has ONLY been there for 3 years according to him). Here are the idiotic events as they transpired: We placed an order today at 12:50 p.m. for the items shown in the attached receipt. As part of the order, we always substitute the rice, humus and salad for fries. I arrived at the restaurant at 1:20 p.m. and the food was ready to take out by 1:30 p.m. I did not check the quality of the food prior to departing!!! Big mistake on my part!!! I arrived home at 2:15 p.m. (I live about 38 miles from the restaurant). As soon as we started eating, my wife tried the "fresh" fries (picture enclosed). The "fresh" fries were super hard and looked, tasted and felt like fries that have been left out for 2 days. We did NOT consume any of the fries. I called the restaurant at 3:00 p.m. to complain about the state of the fries. I explained to manager "Murat" what was going on and stated that the fries looked, tasted and felt like 2 days old fries. At that point, he said it is simply impossible and did NOT believe me that the "fresh" fries were actually horrible!!! To cut a long story short, I drove back to Pleasanton another 38 miles to show and tell as it were manager "Murat" the "fresh" fries his restaurant served me. I arrived at 5:15 p.m. on the assumption that he said he will be there till 6:00 p.m. Since he was not there, I inquired with other staff and was told that he will be there at the restaurant between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. So I waited for another 45 minutes till he finally arrived. I asked manager "Murat" to taste the "fresh" fries that they provided for myself and my family to consume and he arrogantly declined stating: "I do not eat 5 - 6 hours old fries!!! After a long discussion/argument about whether the fries are "fresh" or not, I finally had enough and asked to speak to Fatih (the business owner) to which "Murat" responded that he is on holiday and unreachable!!! By that time, manger "Murat" has requested that I leave the "fresh" fries at the restaurant to which I responded that I need to warn others of what food quality Sultan's Kebab is now pushing out. Here is the kicker: As soon as I arrived home, I had a chef friend visiting by chance and showed him the "fresh" fries that was served to me by Sultan's kebab (Pleasanton). The chef friend simply laughed and said that "their" fries start to look exactly like this when it has been fried once, allowed to sit somewhere for a few hours and then re-fried to make it hot again hence the bubble effects you see in the attached picture. By what do we know, manager "Murat" is the food expert and if the "fresh" fries should look, feel and taste like 2 days old fries then who am I to question the "fresh" fries quality; we should just listen to him!!! On a more serious note, if manager "Murat" just simply approached the whole situation as "sorry, we messed up, here is the refund such as what "Khan" actually offered, it would have been a very different outcome. "Khan", well done for being so customer focused; good for you mate! Question to you Fatih: why are you allowing people like the all-knowing manager "Murat" treat 10-year patrons like ourselves in a such an idiotic fashion? We spend $$$'s every year in your restaurant! To Sultan's Kebab (Pleasanton) customers, PLEASE check all your ordered food quality PRIOR to departing the restaurant!!! You might just end up with "fresh" fries like shown in the attached picture!!! read more

Food is pretty good and authentic Turkish food indeed. I literally ordered 4 days straight. When in doubt of where to eat, this is the place. You would never regret it. Last time I ordered from here, I called last minute to order pickup because uber eats would not allow me to order as it was past the time. The were very nice and prepared my order in less than 10 min. The ambiance is accommodating and comfortable. Overall all they were really nice, thanks for offering great food and service. read more

Came here for the first time for dinner on a weekday. The place is very spacious with a lot of tables and nice interior design. I got the chicken shawarma salad which comes with pita. The salad is plated nicely with sliced cucumbers wrapped around and sliced avocado garnished on top. It also has lettuce, olives, tomatoes, pickles, cabbage and parsley. All the ingredients tasted fresh. The chicken shawarma is very flavorful and surprisingly tender. It's not dry at all and goes well with the salad. The portion is very generous as well. I also tried the beef kebab. It's served with rice, salad and hummus. The beef is flavorful as well but it's a bit tough for my liking. The hummus is very smooth and has the right amount of seasonIng. It complements well with the pIta. The food came out fast and the server was nice. I've been to Sultan's Kebab Pleasanton a few times, and my go-to order is always the Chicken Shawarma Salad! It's a huge portion, and the chicken is so flavorful. I've tried bites from the other mixed meat plates and tried the appetizer sampler before, and all are tasty. Service is fast. It can get pretty crowded at dinner time, but luckily they have indoor and outdoor seating. I've tried their baklava as well, and it was as delicious as everything else. The food is always good and consistent. Some of the best Mediterranean food in the area. The dine in ambiance is always nice as well as some decent outdoor seating. I also did a larger order to go once and the food was packaged well and held up well during a travel time of 30min. (We did heat up a little and it didn't mess up the food). Sultan's is a not so hidden gem of Pleasanton. I'm a vegetarian, so I can't speak about a lot of the menu. I can say that the falafel is fantastic. Their falafel is moist and delicious. The hummus is perfectly smooth. The pitas are light and soft. The salad can sometimes be a little overpowering, but I still eat it. The falafel plate is plenty of food and it's delicious. I generally eat here with my kids. They fluctuate their orders. Their favorites are the burger, the kofte wrap, and the lamb shawarma wrap. The only reason I won't give Sultan's a 5 star review is because I get annoyed with the counter service. They can easily have a line out the door and there will only be one person taking orders. They could also be on the phone taking orders and ignoring the line. I hate that damn line! Every time I have to wait in line to place my order, I think that I'm never coming back. Once my plate gets delivered to my table and I take a bite, I mostly forgive them for the irritation they caused me while waiting in the line. Having to wait in line is one of the reasons Sultan's isn't in my regular rotation. If they could fix that, I would eat there weekly. read more

Tried for the first time and was disappointed in both service and food. The counter person was texting throughout our whole interaction and never once looked up. I walked to the counter and waited and finally said I'd like to order. He took the order all while continuing to text. Completed my order and stood there waiting for him to ask if that was it or at least offer a receipt. Nothing, still texting. Food came quickly and the portion was plentiful. Happened to be in Pleasanton so stopped by for a quick lunch. Lots of outdoor seating. Their falafels are still the best in East Bay. Ordered the falafel platter. Came with five falafels, crispy on the outside and beautiful green inside. The platter included salad, hummus and pita bread. The hot sauce and tahini at the table helped make a delicious lunch. I missed the family atmosphere from before when the Owner/Chef's family was always there. Mom ran the Danville restaurant and the daughters ran the Pleasanton one. This time there was a generic young man behind the counter and a Latina food runner. Wonder if the kitchen staff are Latinx too?! Hopefully the kids are off to college or graduated to running/expanding the business. read more

The food here is amazing, not a doubt about it, but other areas are severely lacking. Although they've renovated the indoor area, there were at least 10 flies inside which were extremely unappealing. The service was sub-par as well, my cashier cut off my order by turning to their coworker and talking to them as if they completely forgot they were taking an order. Lastly, the yelp check-in for baklava didn't work -- they said I needed to download an app called SpotOn to redeem my offer. I ended up just buying two pistachio baklava's for $4 total (pricey compared to free but very delicious) I'll be coming back here for PICKUP and probably won't dine in going forward. read more

I've been coming here since 2014, way before they expanded this location or opened in other locations. And I used to like this place a lot, but recently I noticed, especially during my last visit yesterday, that: - food portion was noticeably smaller. I'd say they cut down their portion by 1/4 or 1/3, and that was significant. - they increased the price, which would've been fine if they had kept the food portion the same. But that wasn't the case. - the quality of the food went down (for examples, the garlic rice was way overcooked and mushy; the garlic rice had barely any garlic in it; the chicken shawarma used to be cooked more and had a nice char flavor, and so did the lamb). The only thing they improved, to me, was the salad. Their salad used to be so sour it was almost inedible. But it was fine during my last visit yesterday. Hummus and pita were still ok, although the portion of hummus was less. Overall, for $13 a plate, I don't think the food was worth it. The salad was slightly too salty despite not having a visible dressing but you can see the specks of black pepper and seasoning on it. The chili sauce on the side was okay, but it was also a little on the salty sauce. However, the white sauce was pretty good. The meat was well flavored as well and combined with the white sauce with a little bit of hummus on the side? Fire. It was delicious. There was rice on the side as well that was pre-seasoned and also tasted pretty good. They provided pita pockets on the side and you just stuff a little bit of meat, your salad, sauces, and maybe even a little rice for that perfect all in one bite in a nice sized hand held edible pocket. I have been here many times back when I used to work in Dublin. This was one of our favorite spots to go out for lunch. The line gets super long around lunch time, so plan accordingly. I usually got the beef kebab plate, but have tried other plates as well. You order at the counter, then you can grab a table and the waiters will bring out your food. Usually very efficient, but once I remember a member of our group didn't get his food until everyone else had finished already. Both of us finished 3/4 of the burger and only half the fries. Order at counter, waitstaff will bring meal to your number at table. The left counter is full of desserts - baklava and Turkish delights in a vast variety of flavors. Take home a mixed box to try - sticky, chewy, sweet, & simply delightful in pomegranate, pistachio, lemon, chocolate nougat flavors. Restaurant space is wide and fits plenty of different sized groups (long tables available for larger parties). Temperature indoors has been inconsistent though... once was pretty chilly when side door was opened to air out bleach smells and another time was sorta stuffy. We've now been to two different locations for Sultan's Kebab....and we enjoyed them both!! The food seemed the same in each location and the person taking the order at the counter was very friendly and answered questions happily in both locations. Livermore and Pleasanton both have outdoor seating (covered) and the food is served fairly quickly. We usually get two meals each from our order so I believe it's a fair price. A pretty good selection of desserts are available like baklava, etc and Livermore has a full bar. Not sure about Pleasanton. read more

Every time I come here the people at the front are taking call-in orders and having you wait while they take the phone order. I do not care if it is the Pope on the phone... if I am here physically I should be given priority over the phone orders. Moreover, if you have a line out the door of people, why can't you assign some employees to answer the phone elsewhere? I spent 15 minutes at the register while a phone call was being taken, only for the front staff to tell me that there would be a 45 minute wait. The food was very delicous and fresh . I found sultans on yelp and decided to check it out with my lovely significant other for lunch . I orderd the sultans burger and my companion orderd the combo kebab plate. The burger is absolutely savory,the beef patty was fresh beef also a thick and juicy not gamey at all. I liked the presentation the fries in the basket fresh out the fryer and the grill seer in the burger made it look very taunting to bite my companion could not resist to take a bite of my burger. I realy loved the combo kebab plate my companion got . The rice was fresh along with the salad and humus ,but the icing on the cake was the chicken kebab and beef kebab. Both were very juicy and tender not touhgf or dry. I can taste the fresh grill seer that gave it a touch of grilling in the park during summer. Thank goodness I live pretty close to this Mediterranean restaurant because their food is amazing! I love everything about Sultan's Kebab. The restaurant is pretty large, it seems like they bought out another section and extended it. The decor is really nice and hipster with pretty cool ceiling lights, fireplace, and a variety of seating arrangements - cushioned benches, long tables, metal chairs, etc. The bathrooms also seem like they're newly renovated with new flooring and fixtures. As for the food, it's pretty cool since you order first and then they hand you a table number. They actually serve you your platters on real dishes, not fast food plates. I've always ordered their combo shwarma and it never disappoints. I love that it comes with salad and hummus with pita bread. The rice is crack - I don't know how they cook it but it's so good with the lamb and chicken. My boyfriend ordered their wrap once and it looked super good too! Their garlic fries and fries are pretty crispy and doesn't drip with oil. Lastly, their baklava is so delicious. I love how the honey blends in with the flaky crust. Love this place! read more
