    Sultan's Market

One of the best middle eastern restaurants I've tried in the city. The Chicken Shwarma was cooked phenomenally with crispy skin and beautifully spiced, the hummus was creamy, the rice was well seasoned with peas, and the spicy sauce was just spicy enough to feel the heat but not pull back. It is called Sultan's Market so there were some grocery items for sale, sodas and drinks presumably from the "middle east" and a salad bar. The dining area was like five tables for two people in the only remaining area of the store. The people working the counter were quick but didn't engage too much or make eye contact. Not really an issue, because again the restaurant itself doesn't seem to be aimed towards dining in.

A Chicago gem! With great food and pretty affordable prices, there's nothing not to like. Sultan's Market recently catered an event for our group and we had a great experience from start to finish. The menu included hummus, baba ganuj, tabuli salad, falafel, chicken shawarma, beef kefta, and baklava. The spreads were terrific, but the baba ganuj really took the spotlight with an incredibly smokey flavor. Although the pita was pretty standard, like something you'd find at any shop, it was filling and paired well with the spreads. However, the tabuli salad was outstanding and super flavorful, with a generous balance of fresh greens and herbs. We also really enjoyed the falafel, which was well-seasoned, extra crispy, and tasted like it was fresh out of the frying pan. The chicken shawarma was flavorful and tender. I did find the beef kefta to be a bit on the bland side, and wished that the side sauces (particularly the garlic sauce) were a bit stronger in flavor. I absolutely loved the mujaddara- the rice was so sticky and well-seasoned. Comfort food at its finest. However, if there's one thing you must order, it's the baklava. It was super buttery and uniquely not too sweet, which really let the pistachios shine through. Truly among the best I've ever had! Definitely recommend Sultan's Market, and I look forward to paying a visit in person soon!

My chicken shawarma was good, with only minimal chewy pieces. I wish it was cheaper tho... $17 was a lil more than I wanted to pay.

Might not be pretty but the falafel sandwich has never disappointed, and I'll get it again and again. The staff is always nice as well

My first takeout review.... How is it only my first?! I am obsessed with Sunday takeout specially after a long weekend. I needed something delicious but also healthy and that's exactly what this is. The food was delicious and came with a lot of chicken, rice, hummus, and parsley salad and naan. It was quick to prepare and easy to get takeout from and came out perfectly. I was impressed with how fast the turnaround was and the service.

Every meal we've had here has been fresh, flavorful, and made with care. You can truly taste the quality and tradition in every bite. The lamb shawarma is outstanding--perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with incredible flavor. The chicken shawarma is just as delicious, juicy, and cooked to perfection. But the true star of the menu is the lentil soup. It is hands down the best lentil soup I've ever had--rich, comforting, full of flavor, and worth coming back for on its own. It deserves to be the #1 item on the menu! What makes this place even more special is the amazing customer service. The entire staff is welcoming, friendly, and professional, making every visit feel like you're dining with family. A huge shoutout to Ali, who consistently goes above and beyond to make every customer feel appreciated. His kindness, professionalism, and genuine hospitality are second to none. He takes the time to make sure everything is perfect, and his positive attitude truly elevates the entire dining experience. Whether you're stopping in for a quick lunch or picking up dinner, Taste of Lebanon never disappoints. The food is authentic, the prices are incredibly reasonable, and the service is exceptional. I highly recommend Taste of Lebanon to anyone in Chicago looking for some of the best Lebanese food in the city. Thank you, Ali and the entire team, for your outstanding hospitality. This place has all the staples you expect in Levant cuisine, and best of all, they do everything well! I love this place because it's no frills, inexpensive, quick, and SO GOOD. The hummus is fantastic, and the falafel is some of the best I've had, but my hands down favourite item is the Chicken Shwarma Wrap. That's the winner for me. The crew here was very accommodating with catering when we had a company event... and I watched a huge tray of wraps disappear in what seemed like minutes, so I can attest they were popular with our attendees. This place is truly are more than meets the eye.

Whether I'm grabbing a quick lunch or stopping in for dinner, the food has always been fresh, the service has been welcoming, and the overall experience has never disappointed. My order rarely changes because the patty melt is just that good. The burger is perfectly cooked with a flavorful sear, topped with melty cheese and caramelized onions that add just the right amount of sweetness. Everything comes together on a toasted sesame bun that's crisp on the outside while still soft enough to hold everything together. It's rich without being overly heavy, and every bite reminds me why I haven't felt the need to order anything else. The fries are equally deserving of praise. They're consistently served hot, crispy, and well-seasoned, with a fluffy interior that makes them impossible to stop eating. They taste like they're made fresh to order, and they're the perfect complement to the patty melt. I always tell myself I'll save a few for later, but that never seems to happen. Beyond the food, the staff has always been friendly, patient, and genuinely appreciative of their customers, which keeps me coming back just as much as the food. It's also in a convenient Uptown location that's easy to get to, making it a great option whether you're a local or just exploring the neighborhood. One thing I really appreciate is that Ragadan doesn't feel like it's chasing trends. Instead, it focuses on making high-quality food with unique Jordanian-inspired influences while still delivering familiar comfort food that anyone can enjoy. It's the kind of independent restaurant that's worth supporting because they consistently get the fundamentals right. I've recommended Ragadan to several friends, and it's become a place I don't hesitate to revisit whenever I'm craving a great burger. If it's your first time, do yourself a favor and order the patty melt with fries--you'll understand why it's become my standing order. It's one of Uptown's gems, and I'll definitely be back again.

What are the odds one restaurant can be a serious contender for the best falafel AND the best burgers in town? I've been there a few times and I'm in love with the ka'ak patty melt burger. Its not only melted cheese and grilled onions. It's bacon and jalapeño and za'ater mayonnaise. And it's two burgers. Served on an amazing sesame loaf. We split it and fries (also delicious with za'atar seasoning) and that was plenty.. But the onion burger is also pretty great. And you have to get the falafel. Also the onion rings. You may want to skip lunch. Ragadan has quickly become one of the first places I think of when we consider picking up dinner somewhere. We've eaten in, but there's not a lot of ambience. And even though they have a powerful space heater, the dining area is kind of cold in the winter. The kitchen is open though, so you end up interacting with the friendly staff. It's a bonus to see how clean they keep the kitchen.
