We think that the food is pretty decent for the area and most of the time the service when you go eat in the restaurant is good, but the take out service is so inconsistent. Some days you can reach them on the phone but most days the phone will keep ringing. Today I tried calling multiple times and it would ring and ring. Eventually it wouldn't even ring it would just end call and say "user busy", which forced us to go into the restaurant to order take out. Of course it wasn't even busy there at all. So moral of the story, go there to eat but don't rely on their take out. read more

I live in the area and everyday I drive by and say I'm going to stop and try it out so finally 8 months later we finally went with a group of four. The restaurant is a little dark and there was no one at the door to greet us for seating. I did like the itamae being front and center when you walk in and the seating around their area to watch them prepare. The booth seating in some spots need to be repaired and some of the walls were scuffed. When we were seated the staff was courteous but not overly helpful or nice. The food on the other hand was delicious albeit a little pricey. We got a combo Sushi plate , fried rice and 3 different specialty rolls for about 80 bucks. my go-to sushi spot and probably the best one in the IE if i'm being honest. i eat a lot of sushi but this is by far my favorite place for it in the IE like i swear the first time i tried this place, i came back another 3 times within that same week because i just couldn't stay away. kura is cool for nigiri but more often than not i just want a roll or two and luckily for me, i cannot recommend the ultimate salmon roll and orange crunch roll enough! honestly i've even had the nigiri here and can say kura pales in comparison. some places will skimp u on fish or give too much rice but definitely not here. the fish always tastes fresh and never smelly like i've had in the past elsewhere and i cannot emphasize enough they always give you a generous helping of it. i've also had the chicken and beef teriyaki bowls and the salmon collar appetizer and can attest that they were all fresh and delicious and exceeded my expectations for such basic staple dishes. i love to come in on my own or bring my friends because the ambiance is always pretty quiet and laidback and i love that the lighting is a bit dim and warm; it's very cozy but can definitely still get busy on a weekend evening. though i've always been seated right away if not after a 1 min wait. but it's no wonder because the chefs make these rolls so quickly and precisely without compromising on quality, it's impressive and obvious they're skilled in their craft. if i was really in a rush to eat and leave, i could eat, pay, and still be out the door and happily fed within half an hour. overall i can't say enough how much i love this place and how often i eat here or order takeout (which is also always superb of course) read more

I'm this was my second time here. I don't live in the area but was at a friends house and we ordered. Last time we ordered it wasn't the best but is was edible. This time is was awful. The rice was old and stale. All the sushi was stuck together and completely fell apart when you tried to separate the cut rolls. The "pop corn" lagastino was hard nasty and tasted like 100 year old oil. The avocado was absent in every roll. The baked salmon was so fishy tasting it was not edible. I was scared I was gonna be sick. Also there was no soy in the bag. Worst sushi experience I have ever had. I would think during a pandemic (where I want to give me business to small businesses to help support) that they would put on their best showing to retain all the customers they can Not sure if it's better when they are open and you dine in. Worst sushi place ever. We ordered the BSCR roll and it was like warm. I ate one bite and the temperature was luke warm. It's supposed to be hot. both my fiancé and I are afraid to eat it. So, my husband and I tried this sushi place for the second time this past weekend. The first time we didn't care for it but decided to give it another go. I will say the rating went up a bit but overall it's not the best place for sushi. We had the Crispy Rice Roll, that was delicious. It had crispy rice, spicy tuna, Jalapeño and onion straws. Super random and nothing I've ever had before. We then had hamachi (yellowtail) and albacore sushi. Hamachi was very good, but the albacore was a little dry but tasty. I'm used to the garlic ponzu sauce that's but on it! Lastly, we got a green monster roll (basically crunchy roll) and a spicy tuna hand roll. I didn't care for the green monster roll, it tasted old. I noticed they had their tempura shrimp in a bucket all ready to go so it was soggy and stale by the time it went in my roll. Unfortunately, the sushi chefs didn't say one word to us the entire time we were at the bar. It made the experience a little awkward to say the least. Really took time to talk to us and everyone else in the restaurant I noticed. Definitely worth goin back again. Totally forgot to take photos of the food I got. But I certain suggest getting the crispy rice, fish collar(MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH), and the Summit roll. I have never tried soju (I believe that's the name) so he came out and showed us a bottle of something similar. Which literally tasted so GOOD. Went here for dinner on a Tuesday night. With 6 other parties in the room serviced by one waitress, the slow service was understandable. However, I was mainly peeved at the chirashi bowl I ordered that underwhelmed my expectations. The quality was subpar and I was surprised that it did not come with ginger nor wasabi. In reading the reviews we knew not to expect spectacular service, but as long as the food was good we would be happy. To our happy surprise it really was, the attitude of the chef left something to desire for which is why 1 star was deducted. They do have creative twists to the regular ole rolls and the fish is pretty fresh. I added the rolls we tried and they were all excellent. First, this place is a little hard to see from the street. It was originally MOE's, then El Ranchero Mexican Food. The new owners totally rebuilt the inside, and did a good job. It's in the Stater Bros/Target shopping center, near the freeway. I've been here 4 times now, twice for lunch, twice for dinner. It has been very consistent. First, the staff is friendly and quickly greeted us when we entered the clean, modern, and small restaurant. On one of our first visits, they were very busy and one of the owners came over immediately when we were seated and kindly told us that it may be a few minutes before we'd get food and offered drinks and seasoned edamame. We weren't in a hurry, and appreciated the honesty and generosity of the owner. The sushi was fresh and reasonably priced. We've tried just about everything, and can say it's as good or better than any other local Sushi restaurant.
