Had the chicken pot pie today...wouldn't order it again!! Didn't like the phyllo crust or the broccoli and it was dry and tasteless.

Went there for a nice dinner and was told a 15 minute wait. Checked back in after 25. Minutes and was told it would be 55 minutes. The hostess couldn't be bothered and the manager's suggestion was to take a table outside which she then mentioned a storm was on its way. To make it worse a random employee decided to get involved in the discussion for no reason. We walked out and then received a text our table was ready. I highly discourage anyone from going to this joke of a restaurant. Mistakes happen but being rude is unacceptable read more

TLDR: wings and espresso martini! A happy hour menu that refuses to be beat! I haven't been here since the renovation and it's very nice inside. The deals are amazing and served all day. The service at the bar is substandard unless you are a regular but worth it for the food and drinks. They have a great deal on wings and the old bay honey are delicious. I didn't care for the fried carbonara but my partner liked it. I loved my drink which was their take on a lemon drop. My partner got a Manhattan which wasn't the best but did the trick. Will absolutely be back! Edit- we returned for happy hour and half priced burgers the next week! We planned to go to a diff restaurant w great off season specials - but when we arrived the place was closed due to staffing issues. We needed to figure out a new plan. I saw in a quick online search that the Summerhouse had happy hour until 6 so we decided to come here for a quick bev while we decided what to do. The front bar is now huge - so many bar seats - and at the time we got there a lot of the seats were open. We sat down and I got the special - which was half price martinis. I ordered the pineapple one - which was delicious. The bartender was very nice and we had a convo w the nice people seated near us at the bar. We ordered the crab dip to snack on while we had our drink. Then we were hungry and on our way to our next stop for dinner. I saw later when I looked the Summerhouse up online that they have a lot of happy hour food deals. Had we been told that while we sat there we prob would have ordered a bunch of them, another drink, and stayed a while longer. Oh well, we know for next time. Important note - the bartender told me they still have Tuesday Ice Tea night. That used to be a hit in my much younger days (when they were about $1.75 lol). During Veterans Day weekend we visited Summer House twice. First for drinks at the Summer House bar and a second time for drinks and dinner at the Summer House's backroom speakeasy the Libation Room. They have different menus and while I server for both was the same the spaces are completely separate. First I had a Summer Blossom Gimlet on Thursday night. It was a fun vibe at the bar, not too crowded, but they have trivia night and it was fun guessing answers along with everyone who was actually participating. The gimlet was a generous pour and was tasty. We found out that night that a reservation was required for the Libation Room, so we hopped online and were able to get one for Saturday. Next we had dinner and drinks at the Libation Room a few nights later. I loved the Flight of the Dragon cocktail which was not sweet and had a nice tartness. We had a few starters and they were both delicious, especially the fried chicken deviled eggs topped with hot honey. For dinner I had the crab cakes with brussel sprouts and potatoes. The crab cakes were full of crab and did not have a lot of filler, it felt like a great value. The brussel sprouts were roasted perfectly with a generous amount of Parmesan cheese on top. The Jack Tarr potatoes were so delicious! They tasted like the inside of twice baked potatoes perfectly flavored. I would recommend this dish if you like crab. I finished it off with Misty Apple. I had asked before hand if this was a sweet cocktail and as told no, but I thought it was very sweet. I would have preferred if they had used a dry cider and no simple syrup, but alas, it's a beautiful drink. If you're lucky enough to get a reservation, savor your time in the libation room! I have been going to Rehoboth for 40 years and never really thought of Summer House as anything other than a place to drink and dance. My daughter and I were looking to go out for dinner on a Wednesday and had already hit most of our favorites over the last couple of weeks. We walked over to the Summer House and got a table outside with great setting w fountain. The special that night was soup (7 choices) and specialty grilled cheese combo for $12. Throw in 1/2 price specialty cocktails and we had well made and top brand dirty martinis snd manhattans for $8. We had white chicken chili w prime rib havarti Sammy and grilled American w bacon and tomato with tomato bisque. Everything was fantastic and throw in great service. 2 rounds of truly great drinks and awesome food and our bill was just over $50. 5 stars for sure! read more

Just had rockfish blt one with fries and one with onion rings. Didn't have much flavor. Cassidy our server never came by to ask how the food was or if we needed anything else. When she came for the check she didn't even ask if we wanted desert. I had asked about a Mango Colada, and the server said it wasn't ready. This place is way downhill from earlier days under Big Fish. Per other reviews, it's a sports bar but a poor and overpriced eatery. Bartenders are good but the other service workers are unpredictably absent. If you bring any concerns to the Management, they blame it on you and the oversensitivity of Rehoboth customers to being disturbed by loud parties and screaming children. In short, they don't care, they just want the volume and there are enough people under the age of 30 who will give it to them. As a local, often asked for restaurant recommendations, so instead of this one, I would suggest the Rehoboth Ale House, either downtown or on the mile, stingray, Big Fish or any one of a number of restaurant bars out on route one near the jungle Jim's , especially touch of Italy, all of which will give you much better value and service, and a more relaxing dinner. read more

Service was beyond poor. Waitress needs to be retrained in how to serve dinner service. Appetizers were served with dinner. French onion soup was warm with croutons soggy and cold cheese. Crab cake was all filler. For the high prices very disappointing. The place was completely dead when we walked in we were seated in the back corner of the restaurant by the bathrooms and nobody ever came to take our orders we sat there for 20 minutes and nobody served my wife, daughter and I. The lovely colored couple next to us mentioned how they were seated and it took a very long time for anybody to come over to serve them. We ended up walking out of the place entirely and never ate here. The food may or not be good but for customer service they failed miserably. Highly DONT recommend if you are gay or of color. Walking through Rehoboth Beach in the cold winter offseason on a Monday night dictated any options for an open restaurant. With many of the options having darkened windows, we walked up to Summer House which showed a full bar of patrons with NFL highlights splashing on ample numbers of screens. High backed wooden booths filled with diners, tables with stacked plates of spent appetizers and empty pints. $8 burgers (beef, salmon, turkey, tuna) and being open at all surely were the drivers for the unexpected crowd. Our server told us it was unexpected to be so busy, and being an understanding diner in a pandemic fueled worker shortage, just realize it was slow and little bussing could be accomplished. The pretzels with smoked Gouda is a decent appetizer. Everything else hit the expectations I had on entry. Solid burgers, wedge salad with shrimp, as it should be and an odd offering of teriyaki chicken over rice and edamame came with a slight spicy bite. This is your neighborhood joint, the does the job dinner, never trying to blow you away, but rarely disappointing. read more

I recently tried "the libation room" the speakeasy in the back room of summer house. The ambiance feels like the great gatsby with a willy wonka twist. As you walk into the swanky dimly lit room you will sit down at a private table and be given menus with backlighting so you can more easily see what they have to offer. They have fun cocktails with twists such as smoke infused bubbles you pop yourselves. All the food was delicious. We had the crab, corn and potato empanadas, lobster and shrimp Alfredo, honey chili salmon with potatoes au gratin and finished the night with the espresso martini after dark and the chocolate cake. Everything was extremely flavorful and made to perfection! At first we accidentally ordered a regular espresso martini since they didn't provide the menus again when asking us to order dessert but as soon as we realized our mistake and asked for the special "after dark" version which included vanilla ice cream, our waiter corrected the mistake quickly! And I'm so glad bc it was amazing! The espresso had a smooth velvety flavor which was complimented perfectly by the creamy vanilla ice cream. My only critique is that the buttercream on the chocolate cake was quite hard when it was first served- indicating it was recently taken out of the fridge. I would recommend they let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving it. All in all it was a great experience! read more

And then there was a table close by of the employees that had gotten off so the server would go over there and just chat. Other than that. The rockfish belt was good, onion rings greasy. What do you expect. They're fried but these just held a lot of grease. For Breaded onion rings, I find it a bit odd. I can get the battered ones and expect them to be a bit greasy but breaded onion rings usually have just a crucial to them. Other than that we had scallops and a good risotto. Been coming to Rehoboth for years and decided to try this place on one of our off season trips (Sept). Great location with metered parking on main drag way so could be busy during season. Was not busy and we were able to easily get a seat at the bar. Was greeted quickly by friendly bartender who was very attentive throughout our visit. Bar looks stocked and ample. However, ordered a Sidecar and was told that the liquor used for that was only available in their special lounge. Asked where that was and was told it was reservations only but inside the restaurant we were at. Very frustrating that they weren't able to make such a simple drink. Ordered the fried carbonara appetizer and it was delicious. Order this if you go. Wait time for food was quick. Didn't stay long since couldn't make the drink that I wanted. There are tons of other restaurants in area so found one close by that would accommodate my drink order. Would have stayed longer and ordered more food but kinda silly that they could not make a simple drink. Food good and service was great so worth a visit - just make sure your bar order is super simple. The app was delicious so can imagine that the food would have been great. read more

The overall service of this restaurant was good! I never felt as if the waiter was checking on our table too often or not enough. I have allergies and they were very accommodating towards them. They made sure when my burger came out the correct precautions were taken to ensure safety. The facility itself is very nice, however, there were many flies around our table. We ended up killing one before we even sat down to eat. The food was good, but nothing spectacular. I ordered a turkey burger and it was okay. It was perfect temperature. My side salad was okay. If you loved the Summer House in years past you will be sad at how a new ownership has changed this once consistently good and reasonably priced bar food and family place has gone upscale and frankly.... mEH. The burgers still remain on the menu but we opted for the crab cakes and was disappointed, tasted of filler not a lot of backfin and was served with Hollandaise.... Need I say.. this is not Maryland style. Not enough Old Bay ;( The other dishes were ok, not great. The salmon served Oscar style was topped with flaky crab and not broiled to a golden top. Service was great. New remodel is beautiful but we missed what made the old place feel loving and warm and a bit of Rehoboth community. The back bar speakeasy should be a hit. I hope they do well. We were in a little shop down the street and a lady asked if we were going to eat lunch here in rehoboth. We said we were and asked her if she had any recommendations for places that were close. This was the place she recommended and we found out why. I even came out of the shop and told my dad the lady recommended the summerhouse and some random person walking by said, "Oh yeah that place is great, you have to try it!" When we walked in we were automatically greeted and seated. The restaurant seemed like any normal bar and grill seafood place so we weren't really expecting too much. There were 4 of us and every single plate ended up being delicious. Chicken wrap: delicious Summer bowl with chicken: fantastic. It was a light meal that didn't weigh me down and came with a whole chicken breast and of course you can't go wrong with the avocado....WINNING. Crab grilled cheese with tomato soup: one of the best that my dad has had. Had plenty of crab on it and the tomato soup was a nice compliment. Sliced Prime Sirloin sandwich: came with a generous portion of meat and the au jus was actually perfect and not too salty like they usually are. Upgraded/remodeled interior since I was here last at least 4 years ago. Burger was excellent. Fried clams were outstanding as well. Happened to come on a Monday which is half price burgers. They did not skimp out on the size at all. Very pleased as it was cooked as requested - medium. Service from the front of the house to our server were friendly and kind. But the "ignore you and hope you will go away" approach to service is a consistent problem, just read other reviews to see we are not alone. We experienced this as well prior to the new management by Nala owners and hoped it would have improved, hard to believe that management wont make themselves available and I will say, there are lots of other great restaurants in Rehoboth with similar value / food and they do not have the service plague that we experienced here. We have been to SH probably 6 times this season and for 3 of them, service was inadequate. Last night was it. Won't return and as locals we will share this with the many friends and colleagues that visit. We sat at the bar for more than 10 minutes, maybe close to 20 with no acknowledgement. When we attempted to move seats the bartender rolled her eyes at us and served her friends that had JUST WALKED IN. When we asked the other bartender to get the manager, his reply "can't do that, I'm too busy." We smiled a few times as they walked by us, we were shocked when she walked directly to us, removed a glass from the bar and STILL said nothing. Not a "be there as soon as I can.. or hi, be right back". Nothing. We were Ghosts - and we won't be back. It's really too bad because they have good hours, a nice patio, decent specials, and a few pretty good and unique food options. My friends and I went to Summerhouse to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was nice. Before being seated we grabbed drinks at the bar. I ordered the Tequila Smash. It was not a cocktail, it was tequila on the rocks. Following the bar, we moved to our table. Our waiter, Nick, was amazing. He was attentive and had great knowledge of the menu. I also appreciated the care he took to learn the food allergies within our group. We enjoyed everything Nick brought to our table. They have a gluten free menu and they are very careful when it comes to preparing gluten free dishes. Like the other restaurants in their network, they have a manager come and talk to you when you order GF items. I can eat GF food that is fried in a shared fryer so I was able to eat their regular french fries but their sweet potato fries are apparently breaded and have gluten. I had their ribs which I enjoyed and their apple slaw. Parking, like everywhere in downtown Rehoboth, is a pain. Overall, my experience was so-so, I just didn't love the food. read more

I ordered the crab cake entree- the crab cakes were good but not over the top. Not as large as I'd expect if paying ~$39 for this entree. The flavor was good and definitely tasted fresh. The sides were poorly prepared. The baked potato was extremely burnt and Brussels sprouts were over cooked and soggy. Disappointing as I've ordered this entree previously. read more
