This is a great local coffee place close to Trinity. It's attached to the YMCA, which I didn't realize. The coffee is strong and consistent. I'm not usually into sweet coffee drinks, but they are known for the moon milk- so I had to try it. While they wouldn't divulge the ingredients, I would agree that it was smooth and creamy and a great compliment to the coffee. In the future, I would order the half moon, because it only has half of the moon milk. I like to use the drive by and pick it up for convenience, but the inside has some great seating, and seems like a good place to read, study or meet up with a friend. I think it's a little expensive, but I appreciate the unique moon milk, the strong coffee and the friendly service- so I still indulge in this coffee at least once a week. read more

Let me start by saying this: Scott knows coffee. I'd passed this place a number of times now and finally got a chance to have a cup here. Damn... THAT's some good coffee. I tried their 3/4 Summermoon this first time out and it was unbelievably perfect. They use a milk blend called Moon Milk with their lattes and it's got that amazingly perfect sweetness to it. I generally don't care to have super-sweet coffee, but I'd make an exception for this one every time because it was that good. The Moon Milk they use actually reminds me a lot of the sweet, hot milk I drank as a kid before bed some nights... I stopped by this place on my way to work right when it opened. I had no idea what a mistake that was.... only because the coffee is so damn good I'm addicted to it. The summermoon is hot coffee and the wintermoon is cold coffee. I think the moon milk, which is what they use to sweeten the coffee, is out of this world. That's not even an intentional, terrible pun it just happened. I suggest the quarter moon whether you go hot or cold. And for some reason the quarter summer moon is a little less sweet than the quarter winter moon. Either way you won't be disappointed. Plus they have tacos so there's that. read more

Summer moon is one of the best local coffee shops in San Antonio. It's conveniently located next to the Tri-Point YMCA and even has a drive thru. This is a great little coffee shop. The coffee there is so yummy. I especially like the iced coffee. My boyfriend says they have the best hot chocolate he's ever had. If you're able to stop for breakfast, they have breakfast pastries and tacos from El Milagrito. If you're looking for a place to sit and work for a few hours, summer moon is great. A really nice Café to relax in. The space is large and the tables are nicely spread out making the Café feel large. The menu is simple and organized but a large one on display would be preferred (I had to wait till I got to the front of the line to look at the menu making me feel pressured). I had the espresso milkshake and 1/2 moon hot. Both beverages were good but I prefer the 1/2 moon. Originally had some issues with this place but they reached out to me and also fixed the issue of not enough tacos and recommended a moon Chai which my guy loved and I got a half moon which was just the right amount of sugar to coffee for me. My rating is based on one drink I had which was the "half moon". According to the barista it was a sweet latte that's half as sweet as the "summer moon". I was very very impressed at how it's so drinkable flavor-wise and temperature wise. I almost drove back and got a bunch more to bring to my coworkers, maybe next time! I would even say a non-coffee fan would enjoy this drink alone. They also had tons of small food options/snacks. The atmosphere was very open inside and super clean! The staff was super nice. T was very friendly and was happy to recommend. Love the decor and easy to get to. I had the 1/4 moon and it was too much milk for me; however, I'm not surprised and I normally drink my coffee black. I'll try an americano next time to get more a of a taste of the fire roasted coffee. While the "secret ingredients" of the moon milk are intriguing, I feel it totally masks the coffee flavor. One of the best lattes I've had in San Antonio and they carry the Espresso Cookie from Bird Bakery which is, essentially, a perfect combination. Friendly and fast customer service in a trendy atmosphere. So why -1 star? Minimal seating. Currently, they hand you a small clip board with a sometimes secured, sometimes loose, ink pen. You have to sign, take your card off said clipboard and then awkwardly pass back up through the window. As they've grown popular the lines and waits here have gotten worse and worse. If there are more than maybe 3-4 people in line or a busy drive through, expect to wait 15-20 minutes on your drink. This isn't the type of place you can just swing in on the way to work anymore unless it's the middle of the afternoon and they're dead. I'm over the moon about Summer Moon! I've never had coffee like the coffee I had at Summer Moon. They are doing some incredible stuff- this isn't just some drip coffee or percolated java. They've gone scientific with their coffee brews, infusing nitrogen directly into the coffee. The coffee is kegged (Yes! Kegged!) and injected with nitrogen, much like Guinness Beer so it has a head with frothy bubbles that swirl as it's poured. This technique gives the coffee a smooth, silky, subtle rich taste that I haven't had anywhere else. Try it infused with their "Moon Milk," a secret, proprietary blend of a dozen sweeteners, herbs and spices that give the coffee a sweet, almost chai-like taste. The coffee is sourced from growing regions all over the world, and wood fire roasted over Texas oak in Austin. For years, they had a coffee roaster hooked up to a recumbent bicycle to power the coffee bean stirrer, but have only recently upgraded to a motorized apparatus. Have been giving this little start up a chance for over a year - nice to have a local coffee place in neighborhood and like to support small businesses - but won't be back again. Typical millennial customer service for average coffee, having to repeat orders at least twice to make them accurate, advertised breakfast tacos that 50% of the time "I'm sorry, they haven't arrived yet" by 7 am because a Summer Moon employee hasn't finished her own breakfast yet or was late for work to pick them up. Painfully slow drive-up window. May be perfect for those busy soccer moms who come in droves, but I say save your money and time and drive through Whataburger. read more

Originally from Austin, the name and their trade mark moon milk drew me right in. They describe their moon milk as this wonderfully sweet creation. The staff recommend 1/2 moon milk in their coffees as it can be sweet for some. They have some pretty creative names on their menu, including a 007! The staff are very friendly and will answer any questions you may have. I decided to order the 1/2 winter moon and it was definitely a treat!! If you like sweeter coffees definitely try their moon milk!! It is really delicious in their coffee, I just don't want to know how many calories! The wood fired coffee beans make every drink smooth and silky. It's hard not to get addicted. Summer Moon is quite convenient for me. It's easy access off and on of 281 and their coffee prices are great for before work pick me ups. They have a swift drive thru and carry Bird Bakery treats and tacos from El Milagrito. However these treats and tacos are marked up and quickly becomes $$$. I can't justify paying $2.50 for a single bean and cheese taco and spending $10 for a med coffee and muffin. Stopped in today for a quick drink and bite... this place is pretty good, with the potential to be one of the top shops in town. Most importantly, the coffee is awesome. I had the winter moon (their iced latte, the hot version is called the summer moon). I don't like bitter coffee that is common at places like Local and Starbucks. They woodfire their coffee beans here, which removes the bitter flavor, the batista explained. It must work, because there wasn't a bitter hint to my latte... is was rich, silky perfection. one of the best I've had in a long time. While the coffee was on point, their food menu wasn't as impressive. I stopped by during lunch, and they had already stopped selling/ sold out of several of their food items. I ordered a chicken cordon bleu hand pie. The pastry was flaky and tasty, but the filling was bland and a little dry. All I tasted was shredded chicken- no ham or Swiss. So not really cordon bleu. They are the only place you can buy Bird Bakery goodies (outside of Bird Bakery), which of course are amazing, but all the cupcakes and cookies were wrapped up in plastic wrap and didn't look that appetizing. I'm sure they still taste great, but if they had better presentation I bet they would sell more. As far as atmosphere, it is a bit bare but spacious, as it connects to the lobby of its neighbor. Great place to sprawl out and study or chat with friends. I'll definitely be stopping by for coffee again, and will give the food another try when they work out the kinks. read more

Fun little coffee shop right off the highway. I enjoyed my drink I ordered a nitro iced coffee with what I believe they called "half moon milk". It was a seven secret ingredient milk that was sweet and creamy. I loved that it was just a pour and go type of drink I didn't need I mix anything into the iced coffee. Flavor of iced coffee was great by itself. I liked the employees they were soooo nice and helpful. I'm very curious when I go new places and love to talk and ask questions and they were really excited to share their story with me and suggest their favs. I think my only down fall was that for 2 16 oz iced coffees and 1 cupcake our total was 15 dollars. An iced coffee is generally your cheapest drink at most coffee shops, and the cupcake was good but it was the size of a normal box product cup cake.
