We stayed at Loge for 3 nights in May 2021. I found them via a search for accessible hotel rooms. I chose an accessible room option on a hotel booking app but was skeptical. Even before the trip, I was concerned as to whether the shower would be accessible or not. A week before our stay, I received a text message with the login code for our hotel room which was nice. You can skip the wait when you arrive and go right to your hotel room. I still didn't know what parking would like, or what the accessible hotel room would entail. However, when we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to see a specially-marked parking spot right in front of the room (I refuse to say "disabled or handicap parking"). My loved one had no trouble entering the room. There wasn't more than a small desk chair to sit in so I was grateful we brought a more comfortable camping chair to sit in. In addition to the lack of comfortable seating, the beds were pushed a bit close together and were low to the ground. There was no space for my loved one's walker & with no bars around the bed, getting up at night was a struggle, especially with the slippery wood floor. I ended up moving the door mat to the side of the bed which helped but my loved one still had to scoot down the side and generally had a difficult time pushing up out of bed. I noticed that if they could push one of the two beds closer to the wall or window (depending on the side), there would be enough space for a walker or possibly a smaller wheelchair to fit in between the beds which would make getting into/out of a low bed easier. It might also help to offer an optional bar to put next to the bed. However, as much as the beds lacked accessibility, the bathroom was the definition of accessible. With an included wide shower chair, bar handles, & a double wide roll in shower, all the fears about showering away from home were washed away. At night, the room did get a bit hot even with the noisy air conditioner but in the day, it was pleasant. Noise was never an issue and overall the grounds were clean and quiet. This is the old Finlandia motel which used to be quite rundown so the amount of money invested in renovating it was evident. Amenities include a small cafe that sells some local brews and Oregon wine along with coffee during the day, a full kitchen for communal use, and an outdoor fire pit/bar area to relax in. I would stay here again for the price, the cleanliness, the beautiful grounds, and the overall accessibility. read more

We stayed in the covered campsites for 3 nights. Facilities really nice - liked the numerous patios, fire pits, tables, showers and restrooms, kitchen, and common lobby-thing. Campsites were nice, but very close to each other so don't expect any privacy. Parking for the campsites is a little tight. Power outlets and bistro lights were very nice on the sites! First weekend in April seemed like they still had off-season or COVID staffing, even though there were no vacancies in campsites or rooms (I.e. place was full). Basically there was no staff onsite after 5pm, which I thought was very odd with all the fire pits going, kitchen and common areas open, and most guests still arriving - thought they would need someone onsite for issues and security. We had a small issue with billing but I texted and they responded quickly with an apology and fixed it. They also did great in accommodating our request to have two sites together and put us on the end so we could have our own area. Oh, very dog friendly - probably 75% of guests had a dog. read more

This place was pretty great. Our 2-queen room was HUGE - more like a suite with 2 separate bedrooms. Loved the ability to cook our own meals and use the fire pits. We did have one issue though. There are a lot of in-room camping & outdoor items you can try out, and get charged if you take them. Unfortunately we got charged for a few in-room items that we did not touch or even remember seeing. Fortunately I caught the charge on my credit card bill and the Loge reversed the charge. I would definitely recommend double checking your bill to ensure you don't get charged for anything extra. read more

We stayed 5 nights here last week and had a really comfortable stay. They took COVID seriously and the staff all were wearing masks consistently and so were the other guests. Definitely was easy to socially distance on the property as well. Overall accommodations were good, also the items they provide in the rooms are a nice touch of personality and function. Certain spots in the room could have been cleaner (like the floors and parts of the shower), and a few things like using the fire pit and times of when you can access the main kitchen could be made more clear to the guest. But overall it was great, and we'd definitely come back. read more

Very cool spot, redone older motel. caters to the sporty outdoorsy type & is pet friendly. they rent bikes, rooms have wall bike racks, yeti coolers, good size fridge and freezer, decent instant coffee & some drink items available for purchase in the fridge, as well as a s'mores kit for sale. location also has small car camping spots which seem great for an affordable quick night of rest. The office has a small cafe with pretty good coffee. The night of our recent stay they were hosting some event in the center square (musical event), the downside of that was as a paying guest we had difficulty with parking. The staff was friendly and helpful, they informed us that these events are listed on their website, so I would recommend looking at their website before booking. The event ended at 9:30pm & the attendants did basically take over the grounds. All the folks were pleasant, who knows maybe you'll be super interested in the event, but maybe not, nice to know ahead of time. These same owners have created similar motels at other locations, we have stayed in 3 total & enjoyed them all. check in is great, door coded specifically for you, you just pull up and go inside. cool concept, only a few kinks to work out. Where to start. We were in room 6. We could hear every step of the guests above our heads very clearly. There is a rail road nearby and the horn kept us awake. The air conditioning unit measured 60 decibels at the vent on high. The bathroom door was so out of kilter it wouldn't shut nor would the shower door. The vanity is big enough for one but the room sleeps four. The only bathroom ventilation is a single pane of frosted glass that you can leave open. The code we were given didn't work so the staff provided us an emergency access code. Maybe the other rooms were better? read more

I've stayed at the Finlandia Motel about a half dozen times over the last 10 years. It's honestly one of my favorites, so it's sad to see the bummer comments that haven't shared my wonderful experiences there. Kathy and Tom are amazing, the location is perfect, and sauna and hot tub is where it's at. For the area, the $72 booking.com price is on point. Owners are nice and responsive. I came here fully expecting a motel. I travel alot and enjoy the adventure of staying in older places that have character. Place is clean and could use some updating. When choosing a motel one must remember that you are not paying premium and can then afford eating out. If you pay twice the price you will get bigger and newer TV and cable. You will get nicer towels, and a few more amenities. But cookie cutter does not equal adventure! WiFi They should invest a bit more on this is to stay modern..but, you can sit near the office and get it. I always bring slippers to avoid motel floors and never use the comforters. If you have room in your luggage, bring a towel as you never get high end towels. Back to finlandia. I do think some money needs to be put into comfort items. Shower has no place to put any items. Take care of visable issues. I would start in the bathrooms. Maintanance: get a new person. Guy takes the lazy route and it shows. Why paint over areas that need caulking or patching. .. just common sense and would make it look like care is there. If you drip something wipe it up before it becomes permanent. Not rocket science. I was happy and comfortable. Slept well and noise is a non-issue. Have not tried sauna or hot tub. They have horseshoes and area is nicely landscaped. Air conditioner worked just fine during a heat wave. Hot water was not an issue, nor was the water pressure as some others complained about. I would be willing to pay more if the rooms had a mini fridge...or pay a bit more if I could have them bring one in as needed. As, for the whiners use your words. Asking questions or explaining you have a problem just makes sense. If you are the younger generation and just have to have WiFi in your room or big screen TV with cable. Don't stay here. read more

Great place with awesome energy. The staff is super friendly. Not a cookie cutter hotel. There is an onsite cafe, shared area to cook, watch movies with other guests, or play games. A few firepits throughout the property. A family or a person can camp, do a hostel, or rent a traditional room. Prices were affordable. My teenagers were super excited about our stay, especially because of the hammock, wood decore, and free use of bikes. read more

I stayed over MLK Jr weekend and really fell in love with this place. They have everything, including the kitchen sink! My favorites were the multiple fire pits, the hammock across our room, and the welcoming staff. Highly recommended for the outdoor adventurist with lots of amenities that are helpful- ski holder at front door, boot warmer, hot water kettle and reusable mugs, wall-mounted bike rack inside the room, and plenty of refrigerator and cooler space. My God! This is still "there"! People say that it has a 60's and 70's "feel": well, it was "here" then, and it is "here" now. The location is great, and things do look updated. I have not been here in some time, but the gentleman is still in charge ( albeit delegates things now ), and I see a lot of negative stuff, but I just wanted to get my two cents in, as I have stayed here many times and things were quite nice IF you are not expecting a super-European style chalet experience. This motel is the best motel I have ever been. NO - you will not find brand new sheets or tv's or anything like that. YES - you will get the best service, most nicest people, A REAL SAUNA, and awesome prices. Remember - if you expect to get $300 / night value for $60, you should wake up and smell life. Booked a weekend away to shred with the family and found this awesome place! We got room #14 that has the two queen rooms and living area with a hideaway bed! We arrived after hours so they called us with the door code (very friendly and helpful). When we arrived we were blown away with how functional the place way! At least 6 bike racks, boot drying racks, microwave and fridge, enough space to sleep like 10 people if you really wanted to! Comfortable beds, lots of space! The little cafe made some great lattes and had a beautiful selection of patios/porches/common areas to enjoy them in! Not to mention affordability! Totally blown away by how awesome this place is! We needed to get away before the next the next wave of Covid-19 and a possible lockdown. We picked this place because it was just outside of town, and near the exit and entrance to the freeway. We only stayed 2 nights, but it felt like a longer vacation. The place was super clean, everyone wore masks and there was social distancing. Felt very good with all the precautions the Loge took. Their coffee shop had good coffee and pastries. Outside they had a nice fire pit going, which was good since it was chilly. We took our dog, and she was so comfortable. They had a corralled area for the dogs. There was BBQ pits available and lots of places to sit outside and enjoy the fall weather and colors. I would recommend this place as a great get-away. read more

Seems like a place where college age skiers would feel at home drinking beer all night. and then passing out on the floor. Worst mattress ever, and I have stayed in dozens of motels and hotels in the US and abroad. Screen missing on one window, too small of a screen on another...bugs flying in and no air conditioner. Warm weather (July) and those things made it difficult to get comfortable. Price seems more than what I expected versus what I received. Stayed in a nicer motel not far from there for $30 a night less. read more

We really like this place, it has a good vibe. we have stayed here a couple times when we come to Mt Shasta to climb Mt Shasta! the place is not fancy but the service is extremely friendly and accommodating and it is a very good value for the money. Also they have a outdoor jacuzzi and... the best part.. an authentic wood lined Finnish sauna where you ladle water onto the hot rocks to make steam. just what the Doctor ordered after spending a couple of cold nights from 8000 to 14000 feet. we liked our room, it was clean and spacious (may 2016) and seemed to be recently renovated. The beds were extremely confortable. I liked the 50's style ski posters on the walls. Darryl was the manager of the place and he was very welcoming and hospitable and doing an excellent job. I have stayed at much fancier places where you didnt get nearly this level of personal service. I would stay here again. read more

We unfortunately left an item at this lodging. We swung by four days later to pick it up but had a horrible experience with the manager. We were initially told he would be the one to help get into the lost and found and that he would be arriving in 15 min so we got coffee at their cafe and intended to wait. While waiting we went to the restroom. I went upstairs as the bottom restroom was busy. When I came down the stairs, the manager initially thought I had been a guest in the adjacent room to the bathroom upstairs. He then proceeded to be rude and condescending about me using the upstairs room. The conversation was awkward given his tone and irritated mood. We ultimately got our item and we're trying to leave but I felt the need to explain to him in person how rude he had been. I went back to speak to him. After a strained conversation, where he was again accusatory and condescending, he apologized for being rude and I apologized for using a restroom closed off to other guests and the public. Coming to Mt Shasta this trip was very special for us. We stayed at the KOA last time, but this trip we wanted to relax. This was our first time staying at Finlandia, for a great price we got a kitchen room that was clean, spacious and comfortable. They were very accommodating to us. We were able to check in early and let us change our upstairs room to a ground floor one. Melanie checked us in. She is a very sweet, genuine person. She made our stay worth it. Will definitely be back. If you want a getaway from it all, this is the place! read more

This hotel is dog friendly, so we stayed one night. It was very predictable. Worn. As expected, but the carpets in room 26 are horribly stained. I wouldn't walk barefoot on them! Those carpets are many years over due for a new set. read more

Ignore all the horrible reviews before 2019. This place is awesome, clean, fun,m, sweet, safe with an aesthetic pleasing Scandinavian design. I stopped in for one night on my way back home and was delighted to hear they did self check in bc the lobby closes at 10p. We managed to get there 5 min til and they had one sandwich left which we bought and it was soooo simple and delicious. Loved the look of the place even at night with the fire pit still on. You get a mini fridge, microwave and electric kettle with a cute desk. The room came with all the cables needed to charge up. Woke up the next morning to happily check out the rest of the property and was pleased to find out they have good coffee and light breakfast items: pastries, oatmeal, yogurt. The staff member proceeded to tell me they had a hostel and she showed me the room and amenities as well as the meeting room, lounge area, and communal kitchen. Even more impressed by the continuous add ons I had no idea they had. They encourage to spend time outdoors and take advantage of the natural beauty that surrounds Mt Shasta. Although this was just a stop over to home, I already have this place on my list for places to work with for our company and come again. The bathrooms are not really updated but if you think about what you are there to do, that kinda make me think, don't worry about the bathroom. And if you forget anything, they probably have it covered - beanies, hats, mugs, and gear to rent. Nice little spot that single friends and families can enjoy. And very pet friendly. What a horrible experience. I made a reservation online the day prior to arriving, and when we got to Finlandia, no one was there! The office was dark and empty, the house next door had no one there, nothing! When I made the reservation, I had provided a note that we would be arriving late, around 11pm, as we were enroute to Bend, OR from the bay area. But after waiting around for 15 minutes, we gave up and ended up at a different motel down the road. We finally received a call back when we were checking in at the other motel, with the explanation that 'she was on the other line and didn't know that we were calling'. After driving for 5 or so hours, waiting in the dark, calling multiple times, that's the last thing that we wanted to hear. And not to make things worse, they actually charged us for the night, later refunding us after I called again. And they kept our deposit! For what? To be stood up in the middle of the night. Don't go to Finlandia. There office closes in the late afternoon / early evening, so you'll likely be stood up if you arrive after that time. (And they have a reputation for charging you, even if you don't show up. We were actually warned by the motel we actually stayed at.) read more

This place is a total gem. Not fancy at all, but super quiet, clean and friendly, and it's got a really charming 60's/ 70's mountain lodge feel. They have done a great job keeping some of the funky vintage elements in place and adding newer things that are kinda retro but keep it fresh. It's what I always wish motels will look like inside when I see they have one of these fabulous vintage signs outside. Our room had these really cool 60's vinyl mustard yellow chairs that I totally wanted to take home with me. Also tried the hot tub, it was just a small simple hot tub on a kind of private enclosed wooden deck- but really welcome after 10 days on the road! If you appreciate character and kind of want to feel like you are on a twin peaks set, this is a great little motel and a good deal for the money. read more

It was clean, reasonably priced (the internet special), and when I called to say we would arrive later than we had indicated on line, the staff person was helpful. We were sad to find no Wi-Fi, but other than that, it was fine for one night's stay. The kitschy atmosphere was nice. The clerk recommended we go to Casa Ramos, but after reading the menu, we decided to try Don Tito's, just down the road (to the south), and we were very happy that we did! IT was great, and seemed a little less expensive than CR. We did not try out the sauna. read more

Sad little place, once upon a time I bet it was nice. Where to start? Reception only opened limited hours and not very helpful, you will be greeted by the dog before the human who was cranky and just wanted to get the credit card and be done with me. The wifi was not working, sounded like it had been that way for quite a while, the paint was pealing off the bathroom wall, bathroom floor is stained, the baseboard falling off the wall. In the bedroom the carpets are stained to the extent that you do not want to walk around with bare foot, holes in the blanket. Really a mess, no micro or refrigerator, all for $90 a night! I would never consider staying there again, better to drive on to another town if there are no vacancies in Mt. Shasta. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Charged $125 a night and the rooms were not very well cleaned. The second night I came back in the evening and only the towels had been replaced (bed not made, bathroom not cleaned, and tip that I left not taken). Also cat hair on the comforter. When I complained to staff they said that the manager would not be back until tomorrow, and that we could take it up with her. When I asked about the cat hair, apparently there is a cat that hangs around the hotel and is allowed in the rooms when they are being cleaned, and "that's just how they do things". This hotel has at least covered the basics in the past, but the current management is really letting things slip. Give this hotel a big pass when you drive through town! read more

I've been going to this motel for a bunch of years and have always loved it....until the last time I was there. It has beautiful, high ceilinged rooms, panelled in a light colored birch wood, very spacious and welcoming. The rooms towards the back of the property are newer and nicer, and all have access to a really nice Finnish sauna, roasty toasty in a cold winter's nite. The problem I experienced on my last trip, is that the maid there stole my medical marijuana out of the room when I left for a few minutes to get something from town. She actually described the container it was in, and proceeded to deny taking it...very odd behaviour, as we were the only occupants there after a huge snowstorm, and no one else had access to our room. So, 5 stars for the motel, but I'll never go back there again! read more

As an avid hotel dweller for business work I was completely blown away by the service and care of the staff at this hotel. They were incredibly accommodating for our roller derby team. They checked in with us frequently, provided ice packs for our injured skater and let us use the hottub and sauna later in the evening. The value of the stay was high and the staff made it a great experience. read more

The rooms are basic and cheap--BUT the hot tub is an absolutely amazing thing after a day of driving. Some friends and I do an annual road trip and Shasta is a little over the half-way point. We've been staying at Finlandia for a few years. It's not the fanciest of Motels, but it has the best hot tub around. read more
