My husband and I LOVE the steak and shrimp combo. We get one to share with garlic fried rice with a gyoza appetizer and that feeds both of us. We get an extra side of ginger sauce that I happily pay for because it's so good I could drink it! They have single serving crepe cakes in their fridge that are really good, though not house made like almost everything else there. Every time we've ordered, our steak has been cooked to perfection, the shrimp is delicious and the veggies are cooked well. The seasoning is excellent, never too salty. The staff is always very friendly, and though the restaurant is small, it's clean and well lit. I'm continually impressed by everything we've had here. Yum!!! Food is fresh made-to-order and dee-lish! They offer to housemade sauces: Yum Sauce is sweet and creamy; Brown Sauce that's ginger-based. Both were great with my grilled chicken. Meal comes with white rice but go for the upgrade of garlic rice it's so good. If you have been driving past it due just not knowing the name, or the curb appeal (strip mall where KFC was) turn in and give it a try! Pretty small place (25 person capacity) so I was expecting a Panda Express-esque quality and service when I walked in. However, I came out very impressed. The staff were all very welcoming and thorough, and the place was really clean and comfy even if it was small. As for the food, I was also pretty impressed. The food was tasty, fresh, and balanced without it being too salty. Definitely levels above something like Panda Express. I was most impressed by the quality; I would be very satisfied if I received these dishes at a more proper sit-down restaurant with wait staff. E.g. this place is miles above the Benihana that's located not too far from here. Wow! I had a feeling this was going to be a good spot. I went last night for the first time. I got the chicken and shrimp combo (comes with rice and some veg). It was great. Wow! Got the sesame balls also, they were on the small side but there were a lot of them so I thought it was a good deal for the price. They were fresh and delicious. Sumo Grill is located in the shopping center off of Arnold and Morello. It's right next to the Mountain Mike's, and in the shopping center across from the Rite Aid. The location is small, so it is not a great place to come dine in with larger parties, as there are just a handful of tables set-up inside. Place is pretty clean though, albeit, could be because they're still fairly newly opened. Menu is not huge. They offer the basics of the hibachi grill eating experience, without the dining experience to go with it. They will have most of your basics for you here, such as chicken, steak, shrimp, etc. Pricing wise, they're priced just slightly lower than the cost of your typical hibachi/teppanyaki style places. They're not cheap, but comparatively to other places of this sort, they are on that more affordable side. Staff here are okay. Friendly enough if you engage them. The food here however is just not that great, for what you're paying for the food. The food was all overcooked, and the steak was tough and not that well made. The flavoring was not great, just felt really bland, and with how much "sauce" (was more like water) was in the container from the takeout, it just didn't feel flavorful at all because the sauce was almost like half the container, and watered down any actual potential this could have had to be more flavorful. The portions were also not quite as I had hoped for considering the cost. Yes, this is cheaper for if we compare it to a teppanyaki place where we don't have to sit there for the show and get just the takeout. However, portion wise, it's way less, at least for the steak part of it. With how overcooked the steak was, it really wasn't even worth it to get it here. The chicken was also very dry cuts, and was tough to get through. It's a nice family owned style place. It doesn't really offer anything spectacular from the hibachi aspect of things. It's just food that is cooked on a flattop grill with very hot temperatures, but doesn't seem like they've done anything special with its food. While it was not terrible, there was also nothing great about it, and rather forgettable with how many food options there are in this immediate area alone. Worth it to try once? Perhaps, but I wouldn't go out of your way for it. read more

I have to admit that I'm pleasantly surprised. This is basically benihana's without the show or the upscale and prices. There is one type of steak offered so you don't get a choice between strip or filet mignon but you can pair it with seafood either shrimp or scallops. We ordered a huge take out order via doordash. 9 entrees plus sides......and omg... it was perfect. Every dish was piping hot and made correctly. Wish they offered a "rare" option for the steak but the medium rare did come nice and pink in the center. While it's not benihanas.... this place is DARN GOOD. Will absolutely go back. No one in our group had a single complaint. Everything was good. Steak and shrimp, steak and scallops, three protein udon, edamame, gyoza....all awesome. Tried this place for the first time today. It is in the strip mall where Petco is, and where KFC used to be. (across the street from McDonalds). They have a few tables for dining in, but this place is mostly a take-out spot. Ordered online with co-workers by 11:30 and our food was ready at 11:45, as promised on their website. They got all 4 of our orders right. I had the Hibachi shrimp with vegetables. The shrimp had great flavor. You could tell it was fresh. It was slightly overcooked (firm), but that's just me being a shrimp snob. It came with a ginger dipping sauce which reminded me of Benihana. It was delicious. It also came with a peach colored sauce, which I thought was a mustard sauce, however it was something different. Don't know what it was, but I dipped my veggies in it, and it was fabulous! The veggies were cooked just right, and seasoned in some light sauce which added a nice mild flavor. The garlic rice was simple, yet delicious. The gyoza had a little crunch to it. The filling was flavorful and the dipping sauce that came with it was just right. My co-workers were impressed with the portions. When handing out their food, the Hibachi chicken container was heavy! If you want something fresh, simple and delicious, and you typically enjoy Benihana, I would give this place a try. It's not as expensive as Benihana, and the quality was on point. They brought our order out to us but I'm not sure if this is what they normally do. There was a steady flow of customers & never had a long line. The reason for 4 stars & not 5 are the portions are pretty small & I didn't like that the habachi dishes were drenched in teriyaki sauce. Edamame - warm & yummy All our dishes were served with veggies [brocc, onions, zucchinis & carrots] came with regular white rice, however, we upgraded to garlic rice for a small fee [+$2?]. It looked plain but it was actually very tasty! The 2 sauces that came with our dishes were tasty as well. Both are similar to the Benihana sauces, one is gingery & the other was garlicy. I found this place on Yelp and am glad we checked it out. First off the location was easy to find in a strip mall and parking was plentiful. I personally wish they had outdoor seating though. We ordered a chicken and shrimp hibachi which was tasty. A chicken hibachi which was good. The tofu dish was good. The salmon was a little dry. They don't have hibachi tables like Kobe or Benihana, but portions are good sized and a fraction of the price. Today the owner's sons, Steven and Nathan were running the restaurant, and what delightful young men they were with impeccable customer service skills! Everything was hot, fresh, and tasty. I could eat that garlic fried rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are really pleasant as well. They checked on us after we received our food to make sure we liked everything. When we were done, I tried to clean up our table as my son is 5 and sometimes make a little mess with his rice.
