This auto store has never disappointment me. I love how they have walk ins and are always available in the mornings. My radiator fans weren't working. They called me after they inspected my car before they did any work on it. They informed me that a fuse was blown and it was at no charge. They also let me know that my break pads and rotors were in bad condition. This explained another problem of why my car shook so much that no other shop was able to solve for me. read more

This shop was honestly probably the most helpful and honest I've been to! Same in with what I thought was a coolant leak under my car, was helped out by Eli Ramos, and told that they would have my car done in an hour. An hour later Eli called to tell me nothing was wrong and they checked all my lines and my car was good! Service was professional and the check up on my jeep was fast. I was told I needed a hose replaced, water pump replaced, and possibly the thermostat replaced. These parts alone wouldn't cost more than $100 with maybe 2 hours of work... I was quoted $600 for the job to be done.... Make sure to get a second opinion before you accept the work to be done here! I went here a few months ago because my car was having multiple issues. I had contacted my dealership and was told that i was no longer under warranty. I went to Sun Devil Auto to see what my options were and management worked with me and after deep diving we found out that i still had about 3k miles left on the warranty. This isn't the place to take your vehicle. They were suppose to front end alignment, front brakes. And change my oil with supplied oil. Got a call from Russell that all my rotors and pads needed to be redone. 1100.00, told them to go ahead, the oil was changed, with some new bolt put in as a drain plug (it is now leaking) they didn't put the spacer back on the right rear wheel When they did the brake job. The had billed the alignment, after I got there and asked about it, They removed it from the invoice cause they never did it, I'm not done. The day after they did brakes I went to California. The from end was rattling a little more so when I stopped for Gas I reached in and the top shock bolts were loose(I had asked them to check the front shocks, and was told they checked them and they weren't leaking and they were fine. I own a construction company and was looking for a "honest" place to bring my work truck to as well as our personal vehicles to. This is NOT the place to bring any vehicle to. I have never written a bad review before this one, but what happened here isn't fair or the right way to do business. read more

My husband had a terrible experience this morning at this location. He had made an appointment to get his truck aligned and they told him it would be no more than an hour. He took my two toddlers to Home Depot for over an hour to entertain them while his truck was supposed to be getting done. He went back in and they had not even started on his truck. He asked them what the point was of making an appointment and they were hardly apologetic and didn't offer any solutions. My husband had to go to work so he couldn't get his truck done by them. What a waste of time! Very disappointed in this place and their lack of apology for their mistake. We will never be back. read more

Let me start out by saying I thought I had finally found a reputable and honest car repair shop, but to my disappointment, I was incorrect and fooled again. A little over 7 months ago, I took my car to get a rear brake checked and the front wheel, which appeared, be loose. I also asked them to check out the work done by the previous transmission repair, due to having issues with the work the other shop performed and I wanted a 2nd opinion. I dropped it off and waited for their call for the outcome of their diagnosis. The manager called me and told me the rotors needed resurfacing, the pads needed to be replaced, the power steering pump needed to be flushed, and the booster pump needed to be replaced. He told me the total price ($1,100+) I authorized the work and it was done the same day. I went to pick it up and discussed the work they did as well as what their opinion of the previous work done by the other shop. They also indicated other items of concern that they found and we discussed this impact of those items. They told me the loose front wheel was normal for this vehicle. So now, 7 months and 8000 miles, later the rear brake is grinding, same one they fixed previously and the front wheel is worse. I took the car back to them based on their written warranty for "Lifetime Brake Warranty" and had them check it out. The results were the emergency brake caused the pads to contact the rotor and now the rotor and pads are shot and needing to be replaced. I do not use the e-brake so not sure how or why this happened. However, it is still my problem due to the e-brake was not something they repaired. They also stated the power steering pump is leaking and they will repair and charge me for another flush. The cost to do all this work was around $800 and the warranty does not cover ANY of the new work. Here is my heartburn. They previously charged me $96.15 each or $192.00 for both to resurface two rotors, new rotors cost approx. $58.00 each. I checked other shops and they charge around $20 to resurface rotors. The cost for the brake booster was $377 and the most expensive I can find is $183.00. They worked on the power steering pump and now it leaks, but I have to pay to repair it. As for the front wheel being loose, now they say the bearings are bad and needs to be replaced. Lastly, one of the previous items of concern from 7 months ago was the rear shocks were leaking. Since then, both shocks had been replaced and have a lifetime warranty . .not sure why or how this occurred. I realize now that I initially should have asked for an itemized cost of each line item, but I trusted them based on the reviews I had read and thought it was not needed and they were honest and fair . .lessons learned. I realize they have to make money to stay in business but I would think a fair and reasonable profit on parts (50%) would be acceptable, so as they say "buyer beware". Hope this helps others and maybe I am the exception to the others but thought I would share my experience regardless. read more

If you have your oil changed at Sun Devil Auto.....please read this. Scott (store #26 manager) said "oil changes are NOT our core business. We do oil changes to UPSELL customers to auto repairs." My vehicle (2001 Ford Expedition) has regular grease fittings and inverted ones on the U-Joints (that require a needle nose to grease). After replacing 4 ball joints, only to be told (by a local repair shop) that they were NEVER greased, I asked Scott how this could happen? He said that entry level tech's do the oil changes and they are trained on new vehicles, that do not have grease zerks. I asked Scott to add to my record, that my vehicle needs to have the grease zerks lubed, when. My vehicle began to have some noise in the front driveline. After three calls asking for a Sr. tech to take a look, Scott said they were too busy and please check back. I went to a local auto repair shop to have them look for the noise and they found out that the front U-Joints had never been greased. When I asked Scott how this could happen, he said "they are the inverted grease zerks and require a needle nose fitting to grease them." "THEY DO NOT HAVE A NEEDLE NOSE FITTING IN THEIR SHOP." He also said that my service record shows that they recommend repairs and I was having the repairs completed somewhere other than their shop, so "NOW" when they change the oil, they no longer look vehicle issues. read more

I requested them to be careful with my car. Manager assured me that my vehicle would be well taken care of. I requested for them to NOT let a young kid drive my car, it has a lot of power for an inexperienced driver. I left my car with them for about 5 hours for a simple alignment job. While next door at Discount Tire before picking up my car, I see my car coming around the corner and there is a young kid driving my car (Remember I asked Manager to not allow any young employees to drive my car, Mgr did not listen). That's not all though...I receive my alignment sheet and notice the castor was out by 1.2 deg, Camber out by 0.5, the Toe was the only thing set on my car. The way they set the alignment will cause the car to pull to the left and the inside of the tires to wear. When I questioned the alignment specs, manager said it was the best they could do, they only adjusted for tire wear, not to factory specs. Manager also said they pulled the K frame, which is interesting since my car has to be adjusted by lower control arms (There were no signs of lower control arm adjustment at all). Sun Devil did a Toe and Go only on my car, not a true alignment. Someone who doesn't know any better would be cheated out of an alignment. So end result, my car still pulled to the left (which is why I brought it then to fix in the first place). To top it off....when I got my car back I noticed a 4 inch dent on my right rear quarter panel along with the paint chipped. I showed the manager and he said they are not responsible for "body damage" left in their possession. Manager did not even care that my car was damaged and refused to fix the damage that was caused while in THEIR possession (before taking my car to Sun Devil, I had just had a $3,000 dollar paint and body work done, so my car had no dents). So I decided to call Sun Devil Auto Corp, spoke with the General Manager Maynard. Maynard gave me the run around of how they are not responsible for body damage, said my alignment was maxed out because of my strut suspension (which is interesting because my car does not have struts yet Maynard continued to argue with me that my car does have struts). It amazes me on the lack of knowledge from a General Manager of an auto repair store. I am now in contact with a lawyer and was advised that there is a "GARAGE KEEPER LAW" that when a company has your car in their possession for monetary gains, they are responsible for damages caused to a car when its in their possession. 1993-2002 Camaro The Fourth Generation Camaro has a short-long arm (SLA) front suspension, which is fully adjustable for Camber, Caster, and Toe. I have taken my very low mileage 2005 Cadillac SRX (only drive in winter) to Sun Devil on N Power for the last 8 years - the service had been very good - even starting off with fixing minor things at "no charge" - exceptional service. They fixed the car's several major and minor items over many years until the end of 2019 - all seemed good. Then something happened - did they change management/staff in 2019?? Took the car in for a rotational noise in the front end - fixed by a complete brake job?? - no the problem got worse - car pulling to the left and steering wheel moving to the right and left rhythmically. First was minor then got worse - but could not come down to Mesa to take car back for 7 months due to Canada/US land border closure. October 11 flew down and planned to take car in right away - first day back had a flat tire left front - tire metal wires exposed and wheel well worn thru plastic to steel body. Tires were due for replacement but an extreme alignment problem was only on the drivers side - only did 1,300 mile in the last year. They blamed the tires - I blame the poor brake job -they took all kinds of things off looking for the rotational noise but never found it (Is it possible they didn't put things back together right??) I have no idea - except they never mentioned abnormal tire wear (alignment issue) during the search for the noise - only that the tires need replacing. I was shocked by their attitude today - the difference from the last 8 years was astounding - I ended up taking my car somewhere else because of their "holier than thou attitude". I called days in advance to see if they could do a break job in the same day on a Saturday if I dropped off in the morning. I was told yes by one of their employees. So when I did so, they took all day to get around to diagnosing my break job, which I already knew about, and never fixed anything after waiting all day! When I mentioned my dismay about this matter to manager Frank S. his rude and unprofessional response was, "Didn't you notice I had 25 cars lined up here this morning?!?". He never once apologized for the inconvenience and he continued to make defensive and condescending statements to me about how I could've possibly thought they could fix my car in the same day... which they not only advertise on their website, but I was told that directly by one of their employees days before! I guess Frank S. expects us idiot customers to be mind readers, because that's how he treated me. first time I used this place. It had many good yelp reviews so I thought to try it for an oil change. I found a coupon so everything was looking up. I scheduled an appointment but everything was full until Friday after work. So I thought they were busy cause they are good. Right? well they got it done on time and I drove away. not 30 seconds I hear this horrible sound. Pulling over immeasurable I looked and the rt rear tire only had one bolt threaded. Turning around with my Emergency flashers on, people were yelling at me that the tire was almost off. I called ahead and the tech was there when I pulled up. After being ripped off by a previous person (not from this company) to fix what I was 99.9% sure was wrong...Sun devil auto saved my sanity and car! I realize I am a female in a mans world walking into an auto place but I grew up around men who worked on cars. I don't know it all but I sure know enough! My car would loose power and make a rattling noise when I would try to speed up fairly fast or just enough to get up to speed on a highway. My check engine light was on which gave a misfire and catalytic converter code. Apparently the other guy said it was my spark plugs. Ok, that's fair because I hadn't changed them in 4-5 yrs. same problem happened a day later! Go back...mass airflow thing. Hmmmm ok. Changed that and a day later same issue. So you can imagine my frustration which I tried to contain walking into this company. I'm human though so I'm sure some of it spilled on them when I first arrived. Sorry if it did :-/ I was done being told guesses and my money being spent with no results. I was firm when I walked in here and explained why. The front desk guy (can't remember his name sorry but he has brown hair/beard w/glasses) and Bob were EXTREMELY patient with me and professional. I appreciated them being confident that they could fix the problem with no charges that weren't needed. It was the very thing I was 99.9% sure of. These guys found it and fixed it all in the same day!!! Bob also confirmed that if I drove off and had the issue again I could come back for no charge! My husband and I took our car next door to Discount Tire for a simple tire check and rotation. When they came out to move our car into the bay (by no fault of theirs) our car would not start. Being late in the day on a Saturday we were worried we would not have the car fixed in time for work on Monday. We came across the way to Sundevil to see if their was anything the could do to help. Someone came right over and looked at the car in the parking lot where it was stuck. Even as busy as they were they offered to look at things in the shop to figure out what was wrong. They asked if we would be okay not getting the car until Monday. We were happy to have the help and not have to pay for towing to another shop, so we were more than willing to leave the car. They said they would take a look and give us an update soon so we hung out for a bit. Before we knew it they had the car running again!! AND when we spoke with Eli about the work they did he said there was no charge!! This was such an incredible blessing that day and I am so thankful for the staff at this shop. I would give 0 stars if possible.. I originally took my car into Discount Tire to get 2 new front tires, I wanted an oil change and they suggested what others do is after their done with the tires they can bring it over to Sun Devil to do my oil change. I said that's fine, called Sun Devil they gave me the go to have Discount Tire bring my car over. Went to pick up my car, they said I needed a new drivers belt, a new control arm, & my break fluid needed to be flushed. Well first off the belt is brand new, second off when I first moved to Arizona I got the control arms replaced, and still have the receipt. Brought my car home, she sat overnight, came out to a puddle of some kind of liquid the next day. I called them made an appointment for the next day, as I was driving my BELT decides to just fall off while I was driving with my two children in the car going 50 MPH and I had no control over my vehicle.. I called them. Talked to the manager and he didn't resolve my issue. Said, "Oh we didn't update our system".. really? But my receipt says I needed a new one and so did the guy who called me to update my on my car. My point is my car is currently sitting there NOT running due to an oil change at Sun Devil, I had no problems wrong with my car. The guys at Sun Devil auto were amazing. I had to replace my radiator and overflow tank. The dealership sent them the wrong ones so the car was going to take an extra day. They apologized profusely and kept me in the loop the entire time. My car was done, they looked at a couple things I said I was curious about, and they fixed my cruise control (which I had forgotten to ask about). They were more than courteous and respectful. I just moved here from California, and needed front and back break service really bad for my Ranger. Sun Devil is right by my house so I went to them. They put my truck up on the lift and said the front break rotors and pads need to be replaced. I know they did. They then at the same time took the back drums apart. They told me the drums need to be replaced and the shoes and the cylinders. I asked to see the cylinders because I knew they were good. They took me back and the mechanic said "See this black here is because the cylinders are bad". I refused to believe that. The service writer then told me to replace the back breaks it would cost me $850.00 for parts and labor. I almost shit my pants, and when I said no they told me I was making a mistake and I was putting my life in jeopardy. This isn't the first time I have been to a break shop or in a garage. The front breaks I told them to go ahead with since my truck was taken apart and I was already there for almost two hours. The front breaks cost me $350.00. I knew that was on the high end but I went with it anyways. A neighbor then told me to go to Performance Auto on Superstition. I went there and they had a master tech take my back breaks apart and showed me that the cylinders were good. The black was just break dust! They replaced that back drums and shoes and the total price was $280.00! Compared to Sun Devils $850.00. I asked about my front breaks, and they told me with parts and labor it was around $170.00. So I spend an extra $150 because I was new to the area and naive about the local auto shops. By the way, It's been over 10,000 miles since I did this and the front and back breaks and (Cylinders) are working perfectly still. read more

They are professional, honest, ethical, go the extra mile, do what they say, repairs are fairly priced, and I know that my car has been thoroughly checked when it comes in for any routine maintenance. My first encounter with Sun Devil Auto was back in September (on a 109 degree day!!!) when my car broke down in the Safeway parking lot across the street). I went on foot begging 2 other local auto repair places for help, and they all said that they were too busy to come and look to see what the problem was. My last stop was Sun Devil Auto. I was almost in tears, and was really worried that they would also be too busy to help. Scott and Jay would become my knights in white armor! They had one of their technicians (the incredible Alex!!!) stop what he was doing on another car, and had him drive me back to my broken down car to find out what was going on. Alex quickly discovered that my battery cable had broken. He was able to replace it in the parking lot, and my car started right up. The charge for this incredible service was under $50, and saved me a tow truck! Sun Devil Auto will have me as a "forever customer." HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...I won't go anywhere else! read more

I was going to give 2 stars for them being nice and not rude about anything or process but at this point I'm just frustrated. I go in to get an oil change, the guys was very nice and made small talk. I left because it was going to take about 45 min. I get a call 20 min later to say my thread on the pan was stripped and I needed to get a new one which would cost $450 & they did not have the part. I understand the thread was stripped and was just curious on how all of a sudden it was stripped and not caught before. I called my automotive friends who are master techs for Honda & Acura and they said because it's aluminum it's easy to strip if not installed correctly or over time. At this point I told them to go ahead and put an over sized bolt in and I'll go ahead and sign the waiver forms. Took it over to Honda and they took care of me. I specifically asked when I first walked in if they top off fluids on top of just changing oil and guy said yes.. Well guess what... It wasn't. I called back the next day to ask again to make sure and the guy on the phone said yes normally my guys do and to bring it in, maybe there's a leak but I doubt there's a leak for all my fluids that needed to be topped off. I went ahead and did it myself. He also mentioned and threw in there that he's the cheapest oil change in town. I work in customer service and I know things happen and mistakes can be made but at this point my experience was just not ideal. Maybe if they actually topped my fluids off I would've gave an extra star but I had to pay an additional $15 to top my own fluids. It's like what did I even pay for? A $17 oil change that turned into $32, left me car less for a day, & just a headache. At least I saved $5 for checking in. read more

I dropped off my car on Friday with a bad alternator. I would fix it myself, but I had family in town and didn't feel like running around all weekend long trying to get it fixed. They called when my wife was near the cell and I wasn't. She said OK to a 580 bill to fix it with tax. The part is only 130 online and 225 at O'Reilly Auto. I just can't believe how expensive they where. They are nice guys but be ready to pay up. read more

Chose Sun Devil Auto because it was literally down the street from where we lived and that most of the reviews mentioned how honest and personable the people were. I made my appointment with Bob over the phone and when I met him he was even more friendly in person. He gave me the run down on what they would do to the car and that they would call me if there were any problems. Picked up the car in a couple hours and everything went smooth. They even straightened out my steering wheel as it was a bit askew from some front end work I had done. He also had the mechanic check to see if all the work we had done on the front end was tightened down and in the right place. I would definitely recommend this shop!!!! Let me give you guys an update on my last visit about a year or two ago. Got my oil change done and the guys there ran an inspection to see what other money they can get out of me (typical mechanics). They told me that my struts were going to completely go out within the next hundred or so miles, which stressed me out because they quoted me $600 actually around what a typical shop charges however...a year or so later (20,000 miles) the struts held up just fine. I have replaced them since but not because of a leak. Second, they said my motor mounts needed to be replaced (WHAT? $915) also after 20,000 miles they are in very good condition according to Ford's mechanics and our family friend. All in all, if you are going to use Sun Devil Auto other than getting an oil change, prepare to be lied to about how critical the fix is and consider taking a loan out because after you're through with them you will be broke. read more

I had my car in for some AC work. Got a call saying the car was ready for pickup. I pick it up and the problem wasn't fixed! Took the car back immediately and Sun Devil assured me that their technician tested it out before they called me. Nevertheless, the took it back and called me the next day saying that the brand new part the had just installed had gone bad ($400) and that they also now thought that another component had died. They asked me to pay another $400 to replace the new component that died (which coincidentally cost the same as the first part). I respectively declined and took my car back. read more

We have had Jay assist us every time and he takes his time with us and explains things very well. Unfortunately, we had Scott assist us this last time. He has horrible customer service and was very pushy. He quoted us a price that was too expensive for us, so we looked around for another shop to install the part. Scott said since the car was already there I might as well get it done there. We ended up taking the car to Network Auto and they said there was NOTHING wrong with this part. I took my car into the Sun Devil Auto on Power in Mesa for an oil change. I dropped it off and left and after awhile Mike called and said I needed to have the radiator hoses changed and a radiator flush. I agreed to let him do it and then a while later he called again to tell me that the passenger side rack and pinion needed to be replaced. He said that power steering fluid was pouring out of the boot. I was skeptical because I have never seen a drop on my concrete. He said it would be $1300 and he would give me a 10% discount. I told him no and picked the car up and took it to a mechanic I used to use in downtown Phoenix. This mechanic said he could do it for between $900 and $1000. After a couple of days the mechanic called and said there was nothing wrong with the rack and there was no leakage. He had replaced the boot and done an alignment and the car was ready to go. The price was $147.48. I called Mike and told him the story and that I would never use his garage again. He wanted me to come in and talk to him. Needless to say I did not accept his offer. read more
