Brought my vehicle in for a routine oil change thanks to the generosity from one of the sun devil family , after receiving my oil change the next day I noticed a substantial amount of oil had vacated my vehicle , called and 3 hours latter they picked it up , fixed the cracked washer ( no fault on them ) and delivered it back to my drive way .. didn't even need to put my shoes on . . An honest mechanic shop. My 99 Jeep Cherokee wouldn't start the mechanic originally diagnosed it as needing a new computer. We were looking at $1,025 parts and labor. After we discussed it with the mechanic we were resolved to our fate. However, the mechanic went the extra mile after we left and looked more into it, on top of the 3 hours he had already spent. He found it was a bad crank sensor replaced and the computer worked. They could have gone ahead with the expensive repair and replaced the $20 sensor unbeknownst to me but they didn't. They spent at least 4 hours diagnosing my jeep for a $232 repair. This is not my 1st time taking my jeep to this shop and they have had the opportunity time and time again to charge me for an expensive repair when it was something cheap. I have gone 3 times, every time I go there there is a new mysterious problem to my car. One time they said it broke while they test driving it. The cost typically were $500-$600 each time. After the last time I refused to get it done by then and went to another shop a month later and they couldn't find anything wrong with the car. I went here because they were offering a better price and they told me I didn't need them! Brought this place a set of rotors to be turned off a 2018 GMC Yukon Denali and the manager acted like it was a total waste of his time! Turning rotors is 100% profit!! I used to be an area manager for a tire and auto chain out East and I would have fired you for such poor customer service and lack of willing to make a buck! You make twice as much profit turning a set of rotors for a guy than doing two oil changes!! Set the machine and walk away idiot! Easiest 40 dollars they could have ever made. The manager even had his mechanic waste his time and measure the rotors to see if they could be resurfaced, which they could and had plenty of material left!! Told me they "don't resurface rotors there, only replace them",even before measuring...... place is a rip off!!! Stay AWAY!!!!!! Why would I ever bring you any other type of business when you can't even turn a set of rotors? Any monkey can do brakes, I will eventually need other services I can't perform and your place will be the last place I look! Please be cautious if you get brakes here as they WILL rip you off! Decided to try this shop out due to the close proximity to my home. My 2016 Toyota Tundra needed a new rear wheel bearing on the driver's side so took it to them for a quote on the repair. They said I would need to leave the vehicle with them and they would get back to me by noon that day with a quote. They had me sign on a small signature pad to authorize leaving the vehicle with them. Hadn't heard anything from them by 3 pm that day so called for a status. They called me back 30 minutes later to let me know the wheel bearing replacement would cost approximately $1,800. I told them to hold off on the repair and that I would get back to them. I was surprised to find out that the Toyota Dealership here in Mesa would do the same repair for $1,100 so I called Sun Devil Auto to let them know I would be picking the truck up. I was then informed that I would be charged a $175 diagnostic fee even though I had earlier informed them the wheel bearing issue had already been diagnosed. I asked them why they didn't disclose the diagnostic fee to me when I dropped the vehicle off and they claimed it was on the little signature pad I signed when dropping the vehicle off. That was completely untrue as the only thing on the signature pad was space for my signature and they claimed at the time it was just to leave the vehicle there. I argued this with them though inevitably could not retrieve my vehicle without paying them the fee. I wouldn't have had any issue paying the $175 had they just disclosed it up front and been honest about it. I would never try this shop again or recommend that anyone does. The fact that they charge 60% more than the dealership for a repair shows they have a massive upcharge for parts and labor. To make it worse they want to charge you $175 for choosing to not let them take advantage of you. This shop is both overpriced and unethical so I would stay clear of them. read more

Extremely disappointed in this place. I've taken my cars there over the years for oil changes but have always been reluctant to do larger repairs and service because I've always used a longtime and trusted shop for bigger jobs. But I took a car in for an oil change and was told I had a leaky water pump that needed to be replaced. They advised me not to drive the car anywhere and quoted me $1500 for the repair. They told me because of the type of car I had they needed to replace the timing belt as well and that's why the cost was elevated. I told them I was going to get a quote from my normal guy and they again encouraged me not to drive the car. I took it anyway and my shop confirmed that the car needed a new water pump but said it absolutely did NOT require the timing belt method that more than tripled his quote and they performed the repair for $450. If I'd listened to Sun Devil, I would've spent $1000 more unnecessarily. Either they didn't know the job requirements or they were crooked. Either way they're quote was unacceptable. I would've never known they jobbed me. Really disappointing. I gave them one chance to prove themselves and they puked it. I'll never go back. read more

Took my Hyundai Sonata to Sun Devil Auto. It had a noise on steering wheel. They came back and told me I needed a steering gear assembly and it would cost me $1,525.97 to fix it. I said no thank you and took my car to Hyundai Dealership. It only needed the steering flexible coupling. The part itself was $2.42. Total bill was $276.00. Very frustrated how Auto Repair places try to take advantage of you. read more

We love this place because of the HONESTY, customer service and prices. We took a truck we were going to purchase for an inspection. They spent 45 minutes on it and the truck had been in an accident when truck was put on the rack (car fax did not have that bit of info). The mechanic spent sometime with us giving us advice on what type of truck to purchase for pulling a 5th wheel or travel trailer. The man checking us in ALSO spent time with us discussing the towing advantages and reliability of different brand trucks We had also taken our cars after problems with the oil changes we received from a dishonest place (name not to be mention) and Sun devil found issues with what had been done. read more

He checked me in and told me it would be about an hour for the service, less than an hour later my car was complete. Horrible communication and service. Dropped my car off at opening then went across the street. The staff asked if I wanted to wait or for them to call me. After an hour and half, went back because it seemed to be taking long. Everyone who was in front of me and one person who was behind me that morning had been serviced. When I inquired about the time I was told it would be another hour and half. What had happened to my guess is they served the people in the lobby but because I did not stay in the lobby they pushed my vehicle back. The manager refused to admit this, though his offer of trying to get me in right away was an admission at best or worst just more horrible service. read more

This is an updated review. My husband and I left our vehicle with them for a transmission rebuild and it was awful. We had to keep bringing it back and finally they figured out another part was needed that cost us almost another 2000 dollars. So now with almost 7000 dollars invested we were hoping no more problems. However not even a month went by when an old problem came back to haunt us. A year and a half or so ago we had the motor mount replaced and apparently once again the screws were loose again, and one was missing. The mechanic wanted me to redo the number of stars since every time we had to bring it back, they did not charge us for the problems even though it was their fault. I am now doing just that. We are invested so we cannot afford to not take it back to them. I just would like to not have to bring it back with problems they were supposed to have fixed. This is as good as I can give having gone through what we have. I can say they are nice and for oil changes and other things like tune ups we had never had any problems but with the bigger more important repairs it has not been a good experience. read more

Danny and the team were beyond professional and honest with me. I brought my truck in for an airbag light and Danny said that this was a factory recall issue and said the dealership should fix this. They charged me nothing for their time. I appreciated the honesty so much. I did call the dealership and found out that the recall had been done that i would have to pay to fix jt. I asked them for a quote while I had them on the phone and then called Danny back and got a quote from Sun Devil and it was nearly half! Last couple of times they had to replace my brakes and an oil pan. Their prices are very reasonable specially compared to Honda where I used to go. I made an appointment for an Alignment at 9:00Am, I left my car and was told it would be ready no later than 11:00. came back at 10:45 and was told that they just got it on the ramp and that their equipment would not fit on my rims. Their equipment not working was ok, my problem was that I wasted 2 hrs didn't get a call and they did not honor my appointment time. I will never darken their door again! They are undependable and should have checked the rims prior to the appointment and should have been able to keep the appointment or at least come close. BAD SERVICE & NOT DEPENDABLE. With the oil change they are supposed to top off all my other fluids nothing else was topped off my alignment is now in awful condition. They tired to take advantage of me because i am a female. What a scam of a business. The mechanic didn't plug the oil drain correctly so it leaked on my driveway. When I called and went back, he wiped it clean, plugged it correctly and told me i was seeing water on the driveway, even after my husband confirmed it was oil. They also told me i needed new struts since they were leaking. They offered to fix them but I went to Kia since my car is still under warranty. Yesterday, 3 mechanics at Kia told me my struts are perfect. Sun devil auto tried to take advantage of a woman who doesn't know anything about cars. On my first trip to sun devil auto I had brought my 95 Suzuki side kick in to be trouble shot after it died and wouldn't start. Sun devil thought i was the distributer and that proved ineffective so no charge they just put back the old one back in. A day later they did end up tracking it down to the engine wire harness that needs to be rewired at a cost of ~800 buck. The car ran fine for 3 weeks however my car died very similarly to last time. They said the timing belt jumped 600 to fix. However that did not fix the problem. It turned out to be the distributer that they had just taken out and put back in 500 bucks for rework that i suspect was caused due to them during their previous work. I would not recommend this auto shop to anybody read more
